Service was friendly but service was slow. I ordered meatballs with ricotta cheese, and a side of French Fries. The meatballs were a few degrees above room temperature. (Maybe the heat-lamps were all being used at the all-you-can-eat taco bar). The fries were served in a small bowl, which was appropriate because not one of them was more than two inches long. All were pointed on each end and crunchy. I must have gotten the dregs from the very bottom of the bag. I ordered a (nine-dollar) piece of Peanut Butter pie for dessert. It was creamy and smooth... and completely flavorless (Peanut Butter? Are you sure?). My friend enjoyed his meal. Some kind of battered fish and a side of (normal-sized) fries. Another friend ordered the Chicken Alfredo -- said it was awful. I paid the bill, left a generous tip, and vowed to never return. read more

Had ribs small portions but good. Had beer tap Oberon was flat 0 carbonation and tasted Flat. Sent back did not get charged. This is certainly not like the old restaurant Fricanos. The Italian food there is not up to park. read more

Went for the first time Saturday evening and had pizza, very good and thin crust just like the old days. Another in our party had perch and baby back ribs and said they were excellent. Our server was very nice and took great care of us . Highly recommend a visit! read more

Our overall experience left us with no desire to be back. We ordered hot wings and the waitress never asked if I wanted them breaded or naked. Thankfully my husband reminded me so I could tell her naked. She also didn't ask if we wanted dipping sauce my husband also reminded me so I ordered blue cheese and ranch. When they were served they were hot but the skin on them was not crispy it was "stretchy/soft/slimy". This might be how you cook them but I was certainly expecting crispy skin on the wings. I will not order them again and wings are one of my favorite things to order! We ordered waters for all of us, a mule for myself and a lemonade for 1 daughter ($2.99). Our girls both had kids spaghetti and meatballs from the kids menu. I think it was plural on the menu but I don't have a picture of the menu. Either way it had 1 meatball and maybe the menu did say spaghetti and meatball. The menu says it comes with applesauce and pop. Neither of them were served or offered applesauce. Maybe it doesn't come with the spaghetti? Our bill never had the $2.99 lemonade taken off once a kid meal was ordered. Maybe it is an additional $2.99 for lemonade instead of a Pop but the menu isn't clear? My burger was cooked medium like I ordered so kudos for that!! The fries served with it were warm at best and soft/soggy. Everyone at the table tried them, agreed they were undercooked and we did not finish them. My husband ordered the Joe EBA (we loved all pizzas from Fricanos so we had some high hopes with this one). He is determined the cheese is different than the previous Fricanos cheese so it seemed to taste different. The bottom was brown as if it was cooked long enough but either there was too much grease on the toppings or it took too long to come out. Thin crust pizza typically stands up and this just flopped over and the bottom side was wet and shiny. It took our waitress a very long time to come back and actually offer us our bill. We were never offered a refill on any of our drinks nor asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. She came back to the table next to us and I had to ask her for silverware and napkins. I did take our receipt with us which is how I realized we paid $2.99 for lemonade I thought was "free"/included in her kids meal. Tip included we spent $90 and were not impressed. The restaurant has no changed from it being Fricanos. Everything about it remained the same except the staff and the menu. read more

Opening Day! August 1, 2024. Atmosphere looked the same other than a couple changes. Friendly Hostesses, Servers were still learning the ropes and food was taking more time to ensure freshness and accuracy! Drinks were a little unsure, but after a bit, finally got some that were tasty! We tried their Caesar Salad, Beef Skewer (my fave) and Sirloin Steak! I might suggest a smaller steak portion! We will defenitely be back to try it out again, after they have worked out some quirks! read more

The burgers are killer and filling. The smash burger is tremendous. The service was excellent.

Everything about this place is off. Perfect example of how to fail as a business. Is it a sports bar? Is it an Italian restaurant? is it a retirement home? who knows. the ambiance is horrible. the sign on the side of the building is literally a banner that someone put wood trim on. But by far my biggest gripe is the food. Few options and what is there is awful and extremely overpriced. The "smash burger" isnt even smash burger lol, its a thick overcooked hunk of meat, cartoonishly gross. Also two tiny, grisly, overcooked beef skewers is $14. Place is just straight up gross. Ive tried a ton of stuff because I live nearby. Bummer its not better. Legitimately talk about this place as the worst restaurant Ive ever been to, as does every single person I know that lives nearby. They've got quite the reputation. read more

Had a paid side of spaghetti with my lasagna. Lasagna was good However spaghetti for $4,99 wasn't edible. Talk waitress this .ske informed me she would inform the kitchen I was surprised when check came i was charged for side of spaghetti. After paying bills i didn't request the charge be removed I informed waitress usually when a customer complaints about a item that's not edible restaurant removes the charge. Well we sat in the bar area. The bartender was very into the "regulars" but pretty much was short and curt with us. The food was okay. Had a wonderful dinner tonight! The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious. Very fresh and full of flavor. My friend had the chicken parm and thought it was one of the best she's had...huge portion, too. I LOVED Joe's award winning gumbo...just the right amount of spice, plenty of shrimp, rich broth and a large portion. Service was great!! We were surprised at how fast the food came to our table. Absolutely amazing food and service. Took my family for dinner for the first time. Our waitress Chloe was amazing. She made sure to check on us multiple times even when she had a big party/table to serve also. Our family got steak dinner cooked perfect, Smashburger amazing loved the bun and our kids had pizza and spaghetti and meatballs both of those were also very good and all food had amazing flavor to them. One of the managers walked around and was asking all the customers how everything was. We will for sure be going back. I highly recommend eating here. the food at Joe Schmoes is so delicious, I highly recommend the chicken tenders as they are made fresh and never frozen and you can tell, they are not so caked with the coat that you can't find the chicken. Their steak is amazing always perfectly done and when they have their prime rib, we can't wait to go. My husband would say they need to add nachos to their menu. I personally think they're doing a fantastic job the staff is efficient, and the owners are very present and very conscientious quality of the food and and very friendly. My husband and I went for the first time to try it and we won't be making a second visit. We ordered bruschetta and it came out as barely toasted with the toppings separate in a dish which had we known it was made like that we wouldn't have ordered it especially for the price. We ordered a Pizza and that wasn't the greatest either it had a lot of canned mushrooms on top with some diced green peppers and barely any sausage on it. Our waitress didn't come check on us until we had already been done with our food for a bit and never offered a refill on our drinks. Four neighbors, my wife and I went to Joe Schmoes in Alamo for dinner last night. Setting and ambiance were essentially the same as Fricano's. The hostess and servers were friendly and helpful. Didn't go into the sports bar side, but the larger dinner area was pleasantly quiet enough for easy conversation. The half rack of ribs was tender and delicious. When we'd finished eating, the owner came to our table to introduce himself and ensure that we were happy with the food and service. Positive experience. We'll go back. read more

Went back to order the egg plant Parmesan that I raved about after opening up to order it again tonight. Apparently it was a different cook as the egg plant was not dredged in egg, breaded with Panko breading and deep fried but instead the egg plant was grilled on a grill so it was limp, panko breading was raw with cheese stuck on it. Was really bad so I sent it back to get the spaghetti and meatballs. They brought out my spaghetti covered in marinara sauce not meat sauce! Ugh! So they took back my food to put a paddle of meat sauce over the marinara sauce! Not sure how to feel about this place now. read more

Outstanding ribs! The meal was so delicious. The ribs are moist and fall off the bone tender, and the sauce is the best there is. The peanut butter pie is made on-site and is delicious! Can't wait to return! read more
