The salad and pizza are very good. They do seem a little low on service people, but our gal was everywhere and did a wonderful job..

Just to be clear this review is for the 9th st location ONLY. I also want to share that it was recently brought to my attention that for the last few years the Jac's location on 9th St and Westnedge have different ownership/management. We used to prefer 9th St to Westnedge however over the past few years we have noticed a major decline in service at 9th St. Out food was good and on Friday night our server was nice, and food was good however our table for 4 was not very big and as appetizer plates, empty beer glasses stacked up and not one person was bussing tables so we had ask him to clear multiple items over the evening. We were not there when our friends arrived and the hostess were rude, refused to bus a table large enough for our party of 6...the restaurant was busy but I have seen it much more crowded! We may give 9th St another chance and will continue to patronize the Westnedge location. If you love Jac's pizza and visit the 9th St location just put on your patience hat and be prepared for possible service delays or inexperience. Positives...we loved our food, and our server was nice just seemed to not have had great training. read more

I have to say. We were here when it first opened. And we weren't impressed. But we decided to give it another try. My husband ordered the Blue Gill. And said it was really good. I ordered the Chili steak. And was pleasantly surprised. The steak was very tender. And the chili oil gave it a great kick (do not order if you don't like spicy food). And the mashed potatoes were really good as well. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. My only real complaint. Was, the music was a little loud. Really chill place. The hostess Alyssa was a sweetheart. I saw the Michigan cherry and goat cheese pizza on the menu, and it sounded amazing . So... let's do it! I was not disappointed. Such an awesome combo. Dried cherries, red onion, cheese, pistachio, spinach on an olive oil and garlic base. Crispy crust, and absolutely an awesome combo. This is something that you just don't see everyday, and you will be happy to taste this combo. Omg! The caprese salad was just that. , but the steak was overcooked. A little disappointing with food quality. Let me preference my poor food with the situation to their defense: Wednesday after 8pm with a group of 9 people. My disappointment came from my Big-G Hoggie. It is basically a hot Italian sandwich made with Italian sausage marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. I did request jalapeños be added. Unfortunately my sandwich came cold, very dry, and no jalapeños, which they charged me for. As I often state 3-indicate that I will try the place again with lower expectations. read more

I enjoyed the holiday nog, which was equally as good as the holiday drinks we started with. For dinner, I had a cheeseburger with cheese curds and got to try some margarita pizza, which was delicious because it was swimming in garlic. We also had hot wings and mashed potatoes, and everything was delicious. Since I had room for dessert, I chose crème brulee cheesecake and carrot cake, which I paired with a steaming cup of coffee. I get the Cekola's special large pizza all for myself. I have to be honest I have not had anything bad on the menu, but the pizza draws me back several times per month to eat in or for takeout. We love Jac's pizza! I highly recommend coming for lunch at getting the buffet. They have such a great salad bar. There are just about every topping/ingredient you could ever want for a salad, it's cold (I love really cold salads), there are also soups to choose from and sometimes a baked potato bar with so many choices. The ladies are always being sure the salad bar is clean from spills and that everything stays full. They continue to put out hot/fresh pizzas and will even make one that you choose to order as well. The restaurant is always clean, the staff is always friendly and the service is all around great. I highly recommend coming especially if you like thin crust pizza. read more

This evening we decided to have pizza for dinner. However we wanted a different style of pizza than the ones we normally eat. A neighbor had mentioned Jac's to us as having a good pizza. So I called and got a Cekola's Special for pickup. I arrived at the appointed time and went inside. I was directed to the bar and asked for my take out order. The bartender asked for payment and retrieved my pizza. Both the front desk and the bartender were very nice and friendly! I took it home and served it for dinner to my wife and I. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of topping on the pizza. There was plenty of toppings covering the entire pizza. It was a nicely done thin crust. And it tasted FANTASTIC!! However my wife was less then happy. Too MANY toppings and not enough sauce. I disagree strongly! It was one of the best tasting and best topped pizza I've had in town for take out. Great place for a salad bar and good pizza. The place is clean and busy which sometimes is not always the case with restaurants but they keep up well with the cleaning. The staff though busy keeps up with drinks and plates. The food on the salad bar is kept full and fresh, the pizza never has a chance to get old it is good and they have a variety, of veggie and meat pizza. Met up with some friends from the Kalamazoo area the other night. The spot we had planned was completely full, so our friends suggested here. My husband and I live in GR, so we don't get a chance to try many places in Kalamazoo. I'm so happy our friends recommended this!! It was a Friday evening, so we had concerns about the wait, but it was only a 20 min wait when our friends got there, and we arrived just a few minutes after they were seated. It did seem to start filling up more later, so I think arriving around 6:00 was smart for Friday. I love pizza, so right away I had a good feeling. I was also really surprised by how large their beer list is! They have a ton of options on tap, and have QR codes at the table to make it easier to view the selection. I ordered the Hawaiian pizza, and it was spot on. I like how the cut the onions super small. I also requested hot sauce, which they did have, though I wish they had another choice besides tabasco. My husband ordered the fajita wrap on a spinach tortilla and he said it was good as well. I like their fries - they use pepper and not an excessive amount of salt, which I appreciated. One thing I did not love was that to get to the restrooms you have to walk around the host stand, and being a Friday night a LOT of people were congregated right there and it was a little difficult and uncomfortable to get by. We came for the pizza. The place only offers 12" pizza max, and they're all around $20. This is not great, but the selections they offer have some modicum of creativity. Automatic deduction of 1 star for canned mushrooms rather than fresh on the pizza. We had to get 2 for our group of 3 because a 12" pizza is not much bigger than a personal pizza. Larger pizza sizes are needed here. Overall, the pizza was decent, but I won't be back for it. If you're not in to sports, this probably isn't the place for you. Which means it's not the place for me either. Even the nicer parts of the architecture are covered up with TVs showing sports content. Between the super sports ambiance, the canned mushrooms, and no pizza sizing options, I can't recommend this place, but that doesn't mean it's bad, I'm just going to spend my time and money elsewhere. read more

My group has been to this location several times and shame on us for continuing to hope the quality will magically improve. We come for the lunch buffet and are occasionally surprised by something that is more than mediocre. While the salad bar is plentiful with topping options, and a plus, the rotating warm food is often lack luster and bland. If you are a gambler, give the pizza bar a go and attempt to identify the very salty dark brown gravy like substance used as sauce on some of the pies. We inquired and were told it is a slow roasted tomato sauce however I have some serious doubts around this claim. The "desserts" are often half frozen and compare to what I can only imagine a cardboard box might taste like. Don't be like us and continue to disappoint yourself. read more

Had a gift certificate for Jac's and decided that a busy Saturday night would be the best time to see if they were really good at what they claim to be. There was plenty of wait staff and bartenders as well. The place was reasonably packed and extremely loud to the point that you couldn't really have a good conversation with the person across the table from you. After awhile and after people started thinning out, the noise was much more tolerable, but then they turned up the classic rock, which was a bit challenging as well. High ceilings and nothing to dampen the noise made it a struggle. The app (garlic cheese bread) arrived pretty quickly but at $6, I kind of figured there would be a little more than 4 thin pieces of bread with sliced cheese melted on it. It was tasty, but a tad overpriced for what it was. The saving grace here was the marinara. The meat lovers pizza arrived with a very thin crust, which is the only way you can get it. It was flavorful and the toppings were plentiful. The taste was great, but the crust, although not under cooked, was a bit soggy, but yet not really greasy...hmmmm. Overall, I am giving 4 stars, because our waitress was excellent and the beers (27oz) were ice cold and served up quick. I was 48 years old the Friday evening when I discovered this place! Now to make up for lost time. Upon arrival we realized the parking lot was packed! Oh no I thought, will we get a table, how long will we wait for food etc. They got us right in as we were happy to take a high top in the bar area. Hannah was at our table within minutes to get our drink order and soon after for appetizers! I had a Prosecco, my husband a draft craft beer and some queso with ground beef. Short of licking the bowl, we devoured it. Then we tried the cordon bleu pizza, such a delightful fusion of flavors and textures. We had a blast playing club keno even though we weren't real sure we knew what we were doing! Then we shared the chocolate chip cookie cheesecake based on Hannah's recommendation and let me just say she has exquisite taste. A very rich flavorful dessert that's perfect for two to share. The cod was crispy beer battered and moist and flaky inside. It was a big portion with three filets and a monster mound of fries. These fish and chips are just what you think of when you think of good fish and chips! Crunchy on the outside and tender fish on the inside: We'll go back to try their pizza and a selection of dips! This is my second time here, first time eating. Not sure I will be back anytime soon. Our server was ok, only checked on us once and was not overly friendly. Drinks were great, I got a Tito's and tonic and my husband got a beer. The food had no flavor. The kids chicken tenders were not good. It is like they took chicken tenders in flour without any seasoning at all. My kids even said they were not good. Their fries however were delicious! We joked they put the seasoning on the fries instead of the chicken. My chicken fajita wrap was a huge disappointment. The menu said it had their special seasoning but once again, their was absolutely no flavor. All I tasted were the bell peppers, if you tasted the chicken on it's own there was nothing on it. Please note I am not someone who adds salt and pepper to food at every meal so for me to say this means it was not good. Being new to this side of town I wanted so bad to try and love it! We need more sports bar type places around, and we'll it is just that. The food is alright but nothing to rave about, but the atmosphere is quite enticing. I have tried it 3 times so far and haven't had a 5 star experience either time! First time after waiting 35 min (after being told it was a 15 min wait), the hostess very very nicely told my party she couldn't possibly seat us. The kitchen was super backed up and they weren't able to catch up I guess. It was the nicest rejection I've ever gotten!! I wanted to be angry with her but how she had such great customer service, I just couldn't! 2nd time I tried it and got seated right away (went at 4:30!), but took 15 minutes for a server to come over, after i finally asked someone walking around. Sautéed onions for my burger weren't sautéed, fries tasted old and stale, and we never got silverware! Our salads came and we couldn't eat them bc we had no silverware. Then food came and I had to ask for silverware! I did tell the server all the problems and he just said oh. I got a free birthday shot, but when the bill came he charged us for it! And for the onions I complained about. 3rd time I wanted to be a charm! First my party was told we couldn't sit in the bar area bc the kitchen was behind (starting to become a reoccurrence?), but we could wait at the bar. When I got there, there were at least 6 open tables in the bar area so I went back up to the hostess and said that we were just getting drinks, why couldn't we go sit at a table. That's ridiculous to have so many open tables yet want 6 grown women to hover around a bar!! They finally let us sit and the server was very nice. Drinks came out quickly, and food came out fresh and hot. Fries were just eh, tasted like freezer ready fries. The chips were good! So you just get off a long shift and you decide you don't wanna cook. Trust me, that's me all the time. So automatically or maybe through subliminal messages you want pizza. But not just any pizza, you want cekola pizza. Which is one of the only type of pizzas I go for. How lucky am I, it doesn't mess with my allergies and it tastes delicious. The thin crust, gooey cheese, and all the bacon I could ever ask for. Called it in and it didn't take long to wait for it. Saw the patio seating, but that's not for me. Lots of people were enjoying the patio though. Look nice and rule abiding as well. I didn't really do much, but drive by it, but no one looked stacked or anything. What a great place! Super great prices for their buffet! Hubby and I felt so stuffed and fulfilled when we left. You walk in and get to pick your own seat "thank goodness" because I love a good booth seat. The waitress was so overwhelmed but very nice and helpful. She helped us in great time. We got up and helped ourselves. They had a great salad bar, with everything you could imagine and more. They had things like spinach, romaine, iceberg letters. Carrots, olives, bacon bits, hard boiled eggs, pepperoni, peppers, tomatoes, cheeses and more. I'd love to give this place a good review, but I just can't. I'll start with the good. Our server was amazing. She checked up on us regularly, was prompt with refills, and was overall very kind and bubbly. The appetizer was delicious as well. Our table of 6 got the dip trio with queso, spinach & artichoke, and sweet onion dip served with both chips and pita. The dips were amazing! That's about all that was good. Onto the bad. Two of our five meals ordered were wrong. I ordered the chicken wrap which was described on the menu as having chicken tenders, lettuce, tomato, and ranch, but instead I believe I was served the Buffalo chicken wrap, as what I was served had onions and a spicy orange sauce (which was extremely disappointing as I don't like spicy food). The pizza my fiancé's parents received also wasn't what they ordered. The cod dinner my fiancé ordered was alright, though the fish wasn't cooked the greatest and he said it was a little dry. The French fries served with our meals had a good seasoning on them, but there was not nearly enough. Overall, I won't be returning to this establishment. The food is very overpriced for what it is, and it's not that good. The only redeeming quality is the fantastic wait-staff. read more
