Nice place. Bar is on left side. Food prep in middle. Dining on right side. Wood floor is clean! Waitress Trinity was efficient and friendly. Menu has a lot of bar food choices, plus a few healthier options. We had 1/4 lb. cheeseburgers. 1/2 lb burgers are available. Delicious. Fries come with burgers. I chose the cinnamon/sugar sweet potato fries. Yum. Recommend the peanut butter pie. Like eating out of a jar. Sticks to the roof of your mouth. So delicious. I first visited Eddie J's in July 2024 shortly after arriving in Henry County for an extended family visit. I was impressed with the Grille as it relates to the lively atmosphere, great music, their attentive customer service aa well as the overall friendliness and warmth I have felt from the clientele, the owner and the staff. I have since returned several times to socialize, eat, have a Pepsi at the bar and talk to the other customers. But this is a special note about the quality of the food. It's absolutely (and consistently) delicious and delivered in generous proportions. It deserves the title "true home cooking" like my mom, who would be 90 years old, rest her soul, used to make. I'm quite confident even she would rate the food 5 stars +! I've also had the pleasure of inviting my family members there to eat with me and sharing takeout at home with my dad...and they have enjoyed it all commented the same. my sister and I were up for a little visit and walkabout between the holidays which went along somewhat poorly because, well, you know... weather. we were out driving around, revisiting the haunts of long passed summers out to the farm and various troubles gotten into. night came suddenly along with the realization we'd missed lunch, so dinner it is!! kinda cold and a little CoVidy outside but warm and welcoming inside... friendly server got us seated in the big room along with a few other well-spaced parties. wasn't long before cold beverages and hot fried pickle sticks showed up. yea!! long slender pickley goodness was a nice change from the standard disc-o'-pickle, crisp and fun and good with ranch dressing - as any fried app should be. hard time deciding between the Reuben and the Cordon Bleu so I went with the cod special plus green beans and slaw. two chunks of cod, battered and fried and hot all the way through without the grease stain, just what I want in a fish. beans are green and beany and hard to wreck and that's why I get 'em, a little dash of malt vinegar would have been perfect but I'm not looking for perfection, just looking for green beans. and maybe just a little more slaw... but I was full up when I left so I guess it was the right amount... no room for even a waffer thin mint. after a little hemming and hawing my sister decided on the Stroganoff... she wasn't real thrilled about it, said the taste was 'off' but that probably has more to do with the long CoVid than any deficiency in her meal because I had it cold from the fridge at the hotel the next morning for breakfast and all it needed was a hot biscuit and cold pear cider. read more

My husband and I have one rule for road trips. We don't eat anywhere we can find at home. We're always looking for something new SMS interesting. Found this little gem of a place and boy are we glad we did. Service was really good, the food was excellent and the price was almost unbelievable. They are not kidding when they say giant wings... the bacon ranch barbecue was delish. The beef stroganoff was just like home. Salad was full of goodness; even the dressings were amazing. I would love to eat here again but it's about a 3 hour drive from home. If you are traveling through or live in the area, put it on your list. You won't be sorry. read more

Sorry Eddie J's, you started out headed for 5 stars but, alas it's not to so. Walked in around 5:00. The place was empty. I was alone so I sat at the bar. The barmaid was awesome and explained the specials right away. She grabbed me a soda while I looked at the menu. I ordered the beef stroganoff and it was delicious! (Headed for a grand slam until NOW) So the barmaid leaves. Don't know if it was a shift change or her lunch but, she never reappeared. Two other servers came to the bar to fetch drinks or to the front door to seat customers but they never checked in on the three of us patrons sitting at the bar. Finally I got the attention of one of them and asked to check out. She says "Oh, yeah.... Sorry....) I was waiting with an empty plate and drink for almost 10 minutes. And as I hand her my card she informs me " We don't take Amex". What a pisser. No where is there a sign displaying which cards they accept or don't. It's ridiculous to have to ask if an establishment accepts a certain card before you decide to dine. If you're only going to accept certain cards post it. Even on the menu would be fine. read more

If you want food that is actually homemade, Eddie J's Grille is the place for it. The soups are made daily, the homemade ranch is to die for, and the salad bar has several items that are made from scratch. Eddie J's also has fresh made bread loaves and bread. If you love wings - or even if you don't - this is the place for them on Thursday nights when they are 50 cents per wing. Try the unique sauce flavors such as bacon BBQ ranch or garlic parm - so good! With the homemade ranch you're sure to love them. The sandwiches and burgers are all delicious. The meatloaf sandwich is a winner and the gourmet grilled cheese has three different cheeses! The accompanying fries can be loaded with seasoning and if you want my advice, ask the server to get you the garlic pepper seasoning with melted butter. You won't regret it. The drinks are really fairly priced and the bar staff is easy on the eyes. The bar manager will make sure that you get something unique and special. If you are at all like me, you also care where your dollars go. I can say with full confidence that the owner is the kind of person that I'd like to support. He is willing to hire people who need a second chance to prove themselves in life, and I think that shows really stellar character. He is the kind of guy who truly wants to help people. You can spend your money at Eddie J's Grille knowing that it is going to an owner that sees the good in all people and who has compassion for others. For the past four weeks, I have gone here with some friends every Wednesday for trivia night. Thusfar, every night has been a blast! I'd say it's a medium sized venue. The place is definitely understaffed, so if it's busy, you might be waiting a littler longer than normal. But that's really the only negative I've got. I've now tried several things on the menu, which mainly consists of traditional options (Burgers, Steaks, Chicken, etc). The food has always come nicely prepared and tasted great (I highly recommend the pizza), and nothing on the menu is very expensive. The service is fantastic and the wait staff is a huge highlight of the place! The wait staff look like they love their job and are great with customers! I love the scenery and just the environment of this place in general. I look forward to my next experience at Eddie J's. :) read more

A number of issues, the first is sometime around 2016 this location went from being called Rick's Sportsbar & Eatery to now Eddie J's Grille. I am assuming the ownership or operators are the same or closely connected as my credit card receipt from my recent March 2019 visit, nearly three years later, says Rick's and the phone number for both locations is the same. Speaking of my credit card, I was not pleased to discover I had to use Visa as they don't accept my preferred American Express (which I have now noticed on another recent review). Let's move on to the food. The menu was unsurprisingly banal, with sandwiches, burgers, general tavern fare, and a few meat and potatoes style entrees. I ordered a pizza which was uninspiring. It was undercooked and sparse on toppings. I will say however the leftovers the next day were quite good, I guess it just need some time to marinate. Side salad was adequate, other than the hard boiled egg which was well over cooked (the yoke is NOT supposed to be greenish-gray on the edges). A taco bar advertised as a special was a small salad bar with a few flour tortillas and a small home use Crock-Pot containing ground beef. It didn't inspire confidence. A friend ordered some ribs which he said were just OK. Service was fine, but bordering on overfamiliar, which is a bit off-putting in my opinion. We were originally seated at some strange high-top table with back-less stools, we promptly requested a table with proper chairs. I ventured into the bar area where I quickly experienced a number of crass patrons en route to inebriation, all watching some sports or shooting both billiards and their foul mouths off. We would have gone to Brick and Brew since they have fantastic pizza, but they're still wrangling with insurance after a fire. :( Soundly mediocre. I don't recommend getting anything other than bar food, as it's all pre-made out of a package. The meatballs in our meatball soup were chilly inside, obviously having been heated quickly in the microwave before being put in the soup. The pizza was a premade crust round slathered in what appeared Provel, the hybrid "cheese" popular in St. Louis. (Its trademark is its oozy texture after heating.) The vegetables, to give the restaurant credit, appeared to be fresh and not frozen, and the sausage was excellent; I assume it's from the local sausage maker who supplies Brick and Brew. You've GOT to stop in... if you're a serious fan of wings. I travel for a living and I would modestly say, I'm a connoisseur of good wings. Try the garlic parm. You will NOT be disappointed. In town for training & was looking for a local place to grab some good food & either a pop or beer late at night. Found it. Friendly & fast service. Environment was relaxed but did not appear to be rowdy. Prices were fairly normal for this type of place, with good portions to match. TV's were on with sports & news. As far as I'm concerned, one star is too many. I'm originally from Napoleon and went here for lunch with relatives (due to the fact that Spengler's down the street was closed for the county fair????). The service was terrible -- and the waitress rudely kept making the excuse that one of the cooks didn't show up. Two of our party received their meal on a somewhat timely basis, but me and another did not. In fact, when she finally arrived with my order, I sent it back. The waitress's apology was hollow and she treated me as if I had no right to be unhappy. So I can't rate the food -- but, honestly, it didn't look appetizing. read more

Great place to eat and catch up with friends. Not many sports bars in Napoleon, so Eddie J's is the place to go for sports and great food. We had the pretzel bites and they were awesome. The owners main focus is on quality control and customer service from what I can see and I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Great spot to grab something to eat! New menu is excellent. Really enjoyed the sriracha wings and fries.

Hands down, the best steak I have had in Napoleon. Have had the steaks at this location before the change in ownership, and was far from satisfied. Whatever the management is doing, the changes they are making are making this a better and more enjoyable "date night" spot. read more

My husband and I were in there on a Saturday afternoon and I wasn't impressed. My meatloaf sandwich was alright but our fries and tater tots were obviously fried in the same oil as my husband's fish.They were disgusting. You can not fry fish with other things! read more

Arrived at 1045 on a friday small small, crowd left at 1130 and never got served .. Man i had high hopes gor this place...been going there since it first opened as a bar. I was excited to hear someone bought it and was changing things around. My wife and i stopped in around 1045 on a friday night we took a seat on the sports bar side they werent busy probably 12-15 people all sitting at the bar. I went up to get a couple drinks and a menu and wsited 10 mins and got no service...so i went over to the main bar and stood there for about 5 mins no bartender in sight the owner wslks out from the back looks right at me i waved my debit card to signalling im ready to order and open a tab..he washed a glass made a jokey comment to one of the people sitting at the bar then walked past me to go talk to the door guy and the small group that was gathered there joking around..i waited and waited some more and when a bartender finally came out he went over to the sports bar side...my wife came upto me and said lets just go so we left..45 mins total and no service..ive never had this problem before ..im a big tipper because thats how you get served in a busy bar..this place was dead at 11 on a friday and i still couldnt get a drink ..the owner sure was having fun though ...and as far as changing things around lol..what used to be a fairly open design was now an obstacle course of small tables read more
