Amazing food, amazing service and all the waiters and waitresses are so nice and the music is amazing!

We went there for a small anniversary gathering a few weeks ago. I ordered the queso bean dip appetizer. I was very disappointed in this menu item as it was so watered down/thin texture that the dip would not even stay on the chips. That, and the fact that there are no small plates passed out with the appetizer to share, trying to dip a chip and get it to my mouth without all of the dip ending up on the table was not possible. I just think for the price of a can of beans and a container of queso dip there is no need to thin the consistency out to make a bigger profit at the expense of the customer. read more

This once was a go to for margaritas. The food is sub par. The waiter actually spoke English fluently but he was rude. My first skinny margarita was delicious. The next one came back sour. I shared half of it with my friend who agreed. We spoke to the waiter and he commented that all margaritas have lime in them. I added a bunch of sugar to the other half and it was ok. The thing is, shouldn't he have offered to replace it? He was arrogant enough to walk away from the table. We will not be returning. There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants where you don't have to wonder if your $13 cocktail is going to be good enough to actually drink. We ordered a dish from the seafood section of the menu and it was one of the most delicious meals we've ever had--Pescado Azul! Mahi Mahi in white wine sauce with spinach. We shared the dish and still had leftovers to take home, it was such a large portion. This was after devouring the made-at-the-table guacamole and the hot habanero salsa with chips. Our server, Ramon, was excellent! Attentive and got everything perfect with our order. Offered to have us take home the chips and salsa which was very nice. We've always had great service at this restaurant and we drive from Bowling Green to enjoy it. read more

met friends there for dinner. Food was good as usual. Our waiter was not good. We waited and waited for service throughout the evening. The our friends 2md margarita was so strong of lime it was not drinkable. She poured some in my empty glass and I was in agreement with her. when our waiter finally came to our table her and Ivtold him it was not good and he smiled and made a sarcastic comment said the drink was half gone and we showed him the 2 glasses that totaled 1 drink. He just walked away. My friend proceeded to put sugar into her glass because it was bitter and it was a strawberry margarita. He never came back the guys wanted another and after 15 more minutes he came back and we just asked for our bills. We have never been treated so rudely there we have always enjoyed dinner there. Super cool little place. We stopped here as there isn't many options as you travel through on a Sunday morning. Chips and salsa were complimentary and your usual fare. Got a blue something margarita- very good. Would do again. Both of us got the #10 combo, one beef and one chicken. Both were a little bland and light on flavor. NOTE: "Officially" - I would prefer to offer this review as a 3.5-star summary of my experience. Stopped in for lunch as for some reason my Napoleon "go-to" was unexpectedly closed today. So opening the trusty YELP app., I noted that Azul earned 4.5 stars. Off I go. Pros: Friendly greeting by the manager. Immediate seating. Cons: The first cup of salsa was frozen - probably from sitting too close to the refrigerator wall in its metal cup. At least I hope that this was the reason. The replacement salsa was quite bland. The service was a bit indifferent taking a long time to get my order from me. On receipt (Azul lunch burrito,) again, the only word I can think of is "bland." I ate a portion of it and said "enough." I had to flag down the bus person to get the waiter to bring me my bill. And then...as it was obvious that he wasn't coming back anytime soon, I got up and approached the register. There he was - watching videos on his cell phone. I did leave a small tip after all of this, but I will not be returning. read more

Having spent the morning walking the riverside trails at Ritter and Meyerholtz parks, my wife and I were in the mood for Mexican for lunch. Based on the Yelp reviews, we headed to Azul Tequila, on the other end of town. From the outside, the place looked absolutely enormous, like a mini-strip mall had been consolidated down and each of the stores merged together into one giant-sized restaurant. However that feeling of generic commercial building evaporated as soon as we entered the establishment, as the inside walls were covered in beautiful murals depicting a multitude of rustic scenes from across what I presumed was Mexico. Before we could finish taking in the sights, we were quickly greeted by the staff and shown to a high-backed booth in one of the large dining rooms. Looking over the lunch menus, I selected the lunch beef burrito azul, while my wife went for the speedy gonzalez. To drink we ordered a couple of waters, so with tax and tip our total bill was only $20, which felt pretty reasonable. While snacking on the complimentary chips and salsa, my wife and I were free to really take in the décor. Other than the bar, which was decorated in crisp, clean white-painted woodwork, everywhere else featured idyllic murals: a family cooking together in a kitchen, streets of a quite village, a donkey pulling a cart down the road, workers harvesting agave from the fields, etc. There were also several statues sprinkled around corners and alcoves in the restaurant, which really added to the atmosphere. Completing the look, we noticed that even the chairs at the tables were hand-carved with sombrero wearing minstrels. After a surprisingly short wait, our meals were delivered to the table, and they looked great, with sour cream drizzled artfully across my burrito, and a fresh sprig of cilantro festooned to the small mound of Spanish rice. Better yet, the food tasted just as good as it looked, as my beef burrito had very good flavour! Our friendly waiter topped off our waters a couple of times, and even asked if we wanted more complimentary chips and salsa, a courtesy you do not get everywhere. PROS: fantastic atmosphere, very good food, reasonable lunch prices, and attentive staff CONS: we had no issues or complaints Overall I rate Azul Tequila as being Very Good, and look forward to returning the next time I am in the area. read more

Staying in town for work. Always like to eat at local establishments if possible. I was craving Mexican so looked to Yelp to find the highest rated Mexican and came here. I was not disappointed! I had the Wet Burrito and it was very good. Chips and salsa were also good. Margaritas were good. Service was good. Nothing to complain about at all. We were staying in Napoleon for the night and met with family to enjoy dinner together. Don't let the outside of restaurant deter you. The inside is your typical Mexican decor. We enjoyed yummy margaritas and the food portions were large. It was way more than I could eat! The highlight of the evening was our server, Logan. She was fantastic! Food was horrible. It's basic. I mean anyone can slap a pork butt in the oven and slow cook it and slap it on a corn tortilla. No flavor. They only use one tortilla which was like rubber, per taco. I asked for extra onion and cilantro. That didn't don't happen. Came with no limes. The beans were like baby food. The salsa had no flavor and it was homemade. I don't know what Mexican food the locals here have eaten but I can't believe it was any good if they like this place. I love this place I come atleast 2-3 times a week. they have great lunch and dinner options. We stopped by Azul's during lunch time last Wednesday. We had a party of nine and were celebrating my dad's birthday. I was really looking forward to this lunch as I had not been to Azul's for a few years. I am not sure if they are currently short staffed or if their services have changed, but I was disappointed that they did not make the fresh guacamole at the table like they had done in the past and they did not bring out a sombrero and sing Happy Birthday to my dad like they had done in the past as well. These things might sound a little petty, but these were the things that I really enjoyed about the Azul "experience". While they did not make the fresh guacamole in front of us, I still really enjoyed the guacamole. The flavors of the avocado, onions, and cilantro all blended really well together. The tortilla chips were fresh and hot too! My brother and dad really enjoyed the chili con queso and the kids really enjoyed the queso. While everyone ordered different dishes, my dad and I both ordered the Pescado Azul. Here is the description from the menu. PESCADO AZUL 12.99 Mahi-Mahi fillet with fresh grilled shrimp, mushrooms, spinach and roasted peppers in a delicious wine sauce. Served with your choice of rice or mash potatoes. It was absolutely delish! While scallops are not listed in the description, there were scallops also in the dish. So yummy! All of the meals were served in pretty large portions. I don't think that any of us finished our plates except for my dad. Lol. For my dad's birthday, our server brought out a dessert that looked like churro chips drizzled in chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream. My dad said that they tasted like churros and really enjoyed them! The kids enjoyed them too! Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Azul's. Our waiter was super friendly. The food tasted great! The table-side guacamole was terrific, just right at "medium" hot. The Sopa Azteca was LOADED with chicken, with a rich broth. It was topped with fresh pico, crispy tender tortilla strips, and a beautifully-sliced avocado. Overall, it was lovely - groovin' on the food and sipping my large cold Mexican lager. Pro tip. A nice find east of Napoleon, Ohio. Bustling on a Sunday early afternoon. Very friendly and capable staff. Extensive TexMex menu. Food came out quickly and hot, signs of an efficient kitchen and waitstaff. Mixed seafood fajitas got rave reviews, pork enchiladas were very solid, and my chili poblanos were well constructed. The kitchen seems light on the spicy heat and heavy on the cheese, likely an accommodation to local preferences. One pic shows the amount of cheese that was left after I ate my chili poblanos. Yipes! I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food at Azul Tequila was really good. I am from Arizona and I am very wary of any Mexican food in the North. But since Azul Tequila was pretty much the only secretly rated restaurant in Napoleon that wasn't fast food, my friend and I decided to try it out. It looks like your typical whole in the wall, average restaurant in a small town; even the inside is painted in a very cheesy way. The service was very friendly and attentive even though we arrived during a peak time and there were about 5 servers for a packed restaurant. The fresh made guacamole is made to order in front of your table and the salsa was so fresh I could still taste the flesh of the tomato. Our entrees were so delicious. They forgot the pineapples in my friend's dish (the main ingredient in what she ordered) and they quickly and generously corrected their error. Overall, it was the perfect dinner after a long drive to Ohio and it was a great first introduction to the friendliness of the people in this area. read more

This was a great place to celebrate National Tequila day! We came by boat down the Maumee River and docked just a few yards away from the restaurant. The group shared two pitchers of margaritas, one regular and on strawberry. Delish, especially if you mix 1/2 and 1/2. We ordered guacamole, which was freshly made at the table and was so good. For dinner my husband had a burrito and I had chicken enchiladas. We ate it all! Both dishes were excellent! Overall great food and service and so much fun to come by boat! read more

The staff here is more knowledgeable than a typical Mexican style restaurant. They really worked with my wife and her many dietary restrictions, and did so happily. Food always comes out clean and hot. I've never had a visit that a server hasn't checked up on within a couple minutes of the food being served. Order guacamole! For Mexican food in the small town of Napoleon Ohio, this place is fantastic. This is pretty much the only place in town that isn't a fast food restuarant. I'm from Southern California and am quite familiar with good mexican food. This place is great for inexpensive mexican food and great drinks. I come to this area for business a few times a year and there is no other restuarant within 20 miles that I would rather go to. I've been several times and I've gotten the carne asada (very good) once and molcajete azul two or three times. This is a huge bowl that is kept in a hot oven all day and is taken out when you order molcajete. They load it with chicken, shrimp, and beef, peppers, and a great sauce. It comes to you boiling with melted cheese on the top. I always make my own tacos with the tortillas they provide. So much food you'll be stuffed for dinner and have enough left over to eat the next day for lunch and be full as well. Great place I love it! read more

Solid Midwestern style Mexican restaurant. Not authentic at all, but it whoops Taco Bell with its pants down. Nothing is particularly hot , it's mostly ground beef unless you order specifically Carne Asada, which would be the standard in authentic Mexican food = ground beef isn't even an option. Southern California has spoiled me in regards to Mexican food, but for what it is, it is a pleasant dining experience. Stick with a dish that is heavy with cheese. The queso used has a good flavor (most flavor of any part of their taco) and lends to a good taste overall. If you need some heat, you are going to be very sad unless you bring your own Chilula. read more
