    premade sandwich
    Ruby B.

Went to downtown Novato for the first time in a long time and enjoyed my lunch at rustic bakery! Their bread is so fresh, you can see it being made with a window view into the kitchen. I tried a premade sandwich, a chicken pesto, and a caesar salad, both quite good! I will definitely be back if I a in the area again.

Beautiful new Rustic Bakery location in Hamilton Marketplace shopping Center, off 101N in Novato. It's large and bright and clean inside. I love all things Rustic Bakery and appreciate that I can find their boxed cookies and crackers at my local markets in HBG! But so fun to visit an actual Rustic Bakery location. On my recent visit I grabbed a pre-made turkey baguette (good bread makes a sandwich!) and ordered an iced tea. Both offered fresh and clean flavors. Can't wait to return to try more of their offerings including sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and more!

    Barcelona Salad

They do specials every month, the Barcelona Salad is amazing! Prosciutto, Marcona almonds, shaved fennel, radicchio, manchego cheese, mandarin oranges, and a citrus dressing - yes please! So good I ordered it twice. Friendly staff, great pastries, really good egg salad.

Good food! Good view/location! Good and friendly vibes! I only know "Rustic Bakery" because of their snacks/products in the supermarkets, but wow, an actual Rustic Bakery & Cafe here! I opted for their quiche of the week (broccoli, cauliflower, cheddar cheese) and a beef barley soup. (They seem to have 2 options for their quiche -they also had bacon/onion/gruyere- and 2 options for their soup -they also had minestrone) Their quiche is actually a little softer and lighter than I thought (which is good since most of the ones I've had are dense), and packed with flavor! Their soup is piping hot and doesn't taste like the ones you just reheat and done; I like it! Although it was a cloudy day, I love the wide window view of the street haha. I'll try one of their breakfasts/market salads next time!

Love their delicious, just baked goodies! Service is with a smile and the ambience was filled with friendly Novato people. Can't wait to go back next Tuesday morning

I've always seen their crackers at grocery stores, but never knew they had an actual coffee shop/sandwich shop! I was pleasantly surprised to hear of this being so close in Novato!! And a quaint little downtown area with street lights to iconically mark the ages, this well kept delicate Cafe is in the middle of town! There were two cashiers, as well as some people working in the back, preparing the food and an open window area, where one could watch the bakers at work kneeding the dough and preparing for war delicious decadent, desserts. My boyfriend and I wanted something small, so we just got the chicken salad sandwich on gluten-free bread. It was OK. The gluten-free bread was nice that they had available, but the bread itself was incredibly dry and heavy feeling. I, personably have slight celiac disease, so I need to change my diet. My boyfriend puts up with it and he's very understanding. Lol . The bread I buy is about $7/loaf at sprouts and is very light and tastes like normal wheat bread. Sadly, the bread/gluten-free bread that rustic bakery offered wasn't to my liking, but the chicken salad was very tasty, fresh and I liked the almond touch within the salad itself. I know a handful of, restaurants are changing their versions of chicken salad due to nut, allergies and tree allergies versus planted nuts. I still haven't figured out the difference, I'm sorry if you have an allergy. Hee Nevertheless, I like the fact they offered organic coffee, but it was only a dark roast, french fries. My stomach can't handle that so I didn't indulge in the tasting. We went around 1 PM so I guess all the morning pastries were gone but they had an amazing selection of cookies that were massive! I wish they offered gluten-free versions ! I probably ask for too much, but only time can tell. Their molasses cookie looked delicious!! I also love the ambience of the simplistic, delicate scenery, as well as leafy greens that surrounded the outdoor patio! Very cute, relaxing, and quaint! I still want to come back and see what other pastries and desserts they offer earlier in the morning. Hee

Came here to get a quick bite. They have daily quiche and soup options and specialty pastries and sandwiches. Got the chicken sausage and leek quiche. Size was quite large. Overall, the quiche was fine, but nothing special. Prices are bit high. The ambience though is great with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

    Matcha latte
    Nicole C.

This is a very cute little coffee shop. They are know for their pastries and there is a window where you can see into the kitchen where they make the pastries. Unfortunately when we got there, they were out of a lot of pastries so we didn't get to try them, but I've heard they are delicious. I ordered a hot matcha latte. They asked if I wanted vanilla in it, and I declined because I didn't want it to be too sweet, but then it had no sweetness. However, they have liquid sweetener at the bar, which is a really cool option that I wish more coffee shops had. I also like that the matcha powder wasn't pre-sweetened because the sweetness could be customized. I also had the Breakfast Panini. The bread was delicious and very fresh, with a bit of salt on top. The sandwich itself was pretty good but also pretty dry, so it definitely could have benefited from a sauce or something. Overall a cool place, I wish I could have tried some of the pastries though.

This place is went downhill a lot since the change of ownership and management. The quality of the food is simply taking a backseat.

EDITED: Stephanie is refunding a portion of the cake fee, very good customer service! Once again!…read more Thank you! I started out my search for Starbucks themed sugar cookies, and Stephanie came highly recommended by several people in our community. Upon finding out she did cakes, I mentioned to my daughter in law that she could maybe do a cake, and she contracted with her to do so. The cookies were delicious, as was the cake. It's hard to find someone to make anything with the Starbucks logo, which we completely understand. Who wants to get sued by Starbucks, right? So, she agreed to make the cookies shaped like coffee cups with coffee decor; and she nailed it. She also made a frappuccino cake (standing) - and offered to drive up when me met for pick up because it was sliding, and she wanted to be sure it was going to make it to the party; and also do do some touch ups on the decorating. Stephanie and her family drove from Novato to Santa Rosa and delivered the cake. It was an expensive cake. $120.00 ... and about twenty minutes or so after she left the room, we all left to play laser tag; upon returning, we saw that the top half of the cake was gone, it slipped off and fell behind the table. :/ I did send Stephanie a photo of the cake. There were also misspellings on the cookies of the word "coffee" that I didn't notice until after the cake fell apart. Let me say, it was delicious!!! The cake was melt in your mouth moist, the icing was delicious and the cookies were too!!! I know that there was a family emergency two days before our order was due; and stress can have a negative effect on all of us. I would recommend her to others, I mean, baking is a constantly evolving process and my Granddaughter hates fondant; so that was all buttercream icing on a standing cake, instead of a sheet cake shaped like a cup of coffee. Four stars to Stephanie and her kind family, and extremely polite children!! Thank you for helping our family make Amaya's party a dream come true.
