This was such a cute little cottage-y cafe - coffee, sweets and lunch under one roof with pretty gardens. Ordering lunch food is fast in a takeout fashion, coffee and sweets are in the cafe itself. We had a tasty maple walnut fudge. There was a bit of confusion on whether it was a for here or take out order, they packed it up fast for us when they realized it was not for here. The food is pretty good quality and pretty standard prices around here - we had the shrimp sandwiches which were fresh and delicious, kids had corn dogs and loved them. The cafe is close to Doran beach so great for a takeout picnic , but also has outdoor seating in a nice garden patio setting. Dog friendly and will provide dishes for water if you ask. This place came highly recommended across social media, so naturally it was our first stop in Bodega Bay. From the moment we arrived, everything looked aesthetically pleasing. The outdoor seating, from the front patio to the back overlooking the water, created a relaxing atmosphere. The beautiful bay views made for a serene dining experience. We ordered the breakfast burrito, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment. It did not taste fresh, and the cold potatoes suggested it hadn't been heated thoroughly. Location is great, peaceful, kinda quiet tucked in the corner. The staff members were nice and accommodating! The food, I'm a fan of breakfast items. The sausage breakfast sandwich was delicious! The cheese was perfect, the bun was nicely toasted and just a perfect ratio! The French toast sticks were good, the puff pastry was even better. I took a bite and instantly regretted my decision but the sandwich was good lol We come up and down the coast a few times a year and this is probably going to be a guaranteed stop over. Adorable spot! The cafe and the food and the gift shop -- all were a pleasant surprise on our trip to bodega bay. I enjoyed a fresh croissant, mocha, and lobster roll! The menu has a good assortment for a multitude of palettes. Wish they had crab cakes but the items we chose were good except the oysters. They were tiny not worth price. The calamari was also a little over cooked. The spinach salad was fresh and plentiful. The Gorgonzola was definitely the star. Service was quick and food was hot. Love this place. The location is superb, and food was equally incredible. Staff were very friendly as well. When in Bodega bay, one must check out Birds Cafe! Coastal vibe is strong. We went for lunch in a Friday, and the wait was not long at all. We had the grilled prawns salad, BBQ oysters, and lobster roll. Oh my goodness! Those BBQ oysters with the sauce were so tasty! We came here on a gloomy Monday. To order, you go up and order at the window, pay and you are given a buzzer. Any drinks are picked up at the window. The patio is all open seating and dog friendly. Lots of chairs and tables with umbrellas. We ordered the prawns and fries and I had their two fish tacos. My husband said the prawns were some of the best he had and the coating was amazing. I was also pleasantly surprised with my fish tacos as they had the right amount of coleslaw, pico de gallo and avocado sauce. This was a very tasty seafood spot. Good seafood with lovely views. So you place your order at a walk up window and pick up at a different window when your hand buzzer goes off, easy peasy. The Seafood combo dish came with the freshest beer battered fish I've ever had. The fish was so flaky and delicious. The batter was on point! The prawns also had the same beer batter and were also very good! The clam chowder was also very good- I saw a lot of complaints that it was too thin and I understand because that is what we are used to here. And while it was on the thinner side, it was still super flavorful and it was generously cooked with lots of clams. Lovely views from the patio as well. A different building sells coffee and bakery items (the brownie was divine!). There is also a gift shop but it was closed by the time we got there. We had coffees at the Birds coffee shop and everything was excellent. They are connected to a store that has lots of local items for sale to make the trip that much more memorable. Outside seating looking over the bay. We strolled down the walkway and found they have 2 very nice patio areas in the shade perfect for enjoying your breakfast or coffee! Came here two years ago and was blown away at the fresh quality of the fish and chips. We stopped here again on our way home and sat outside (no inside seating) where we can look out at the Bodega Harbor. Staff is always friendly and take great care of their customers. My fish and chips was fresh and delicious just like the last time. We also shared some calamari and artichoke fritters which were really good. The calamari was alright, on the thinner side and quite chewy (probably because it was on the thinner side). The clam chowder was delicious and also had some bacon. It was very flavorful and slightly thick (in a good way)! Would get it again! The BBQ oysters were great. We got it with the herb butter, although I expected the oysters to be a little bit more cooked. It was an in between of raw and cooked. Other than that, the flavor of it was delicious! The seafood combo came with fries, 1 piece of fish, and 2 prawns. The prawns were incredibly delicious! Juicy, snappy, and fresh. Great seafood option for highway 1 Bodega Bay, outdoor seating perching on the deck/bluff with Bayview. Fresh air, sunshine, waterview, can't beat the charming laid-back vibe. Menu Options are the usual coastal seafood, oysters, clams chowder, fish taco, crab and lobster roll, but they also have hot dog. You order at the window like lots of the places along highway 1. It take about 10-15min for the food to come out. Delicious oysters, both raw and BBQ. Good clams chowder too. The crabroll was good but a bit rich in butter for those of.you that love a very buttery roll this one is for you. Overall, a delicious meal. We even stopped by the little coffee shop next to it for a delicious cookie and a spicy pickle :) for the road. Great option for non-seafood lovers in the area. Stopped by when driving up the coast and was looking for a lunch spot. They have a designated parking lot but was very full and we got the last spot. They had a good selection of seafood, salads and non seafood items. My husband and I aren't big on seafood so it was nice they had other options that weren't an arm and a leg. We ate on the patio and everything was delicious. Their staff was friendly and quick with our order and keeping the patio clean. We ordered a shrimp remoulade on brioche sandwich and fish tacos and both were solid (nothing to write home about.) The real draw for us was the windswept coastal view. We saw birds floating on the airstream overhead and imagined our food might invite a Tippi Hedren inspired showdown, but all but the most aggressive starling left us alone. Adorable little spot in bodega bay! There was a line for the building with lunch options so I assume it's good. We went to the coffee house for an afternoon pick me up. The coffee we got was decent (iced dirty chai and an iced white mocha), the gourmet fudge was delicious. We did the buy 4 get 2 free deal (it was 6.25 a piece) and all of the flavors were good. It was so good we couldn't stop eating in time and because it was so rich, we practically made ourselves sick. Highly recommend. The other thing I love about this place is the ambience. My wife and I have been coming here for a couple years. We live about 15 minutes away. Loved supporting a "local" business. A year ago we would give this place 5 stars. The dungeness crab rolls were fat and reasonably-priced (not cheap, but fair). The oysters were wonderfully small-sized Hog Island oysters. The fries were fresh and cooked perfectly. Fresh draft Henhouse is awesome! 2 years later, the crab rolls have gone up in price AND the portion size reduced. The oysters got bigger, seemingly not as fresh and more expensive. We get it's hard to turn a profit when the economy is terrible, but the combination of it all has us looking elsewhere. We will probably try again after some time, but with tourist season here, the lines get longer and overall the experience is much less enticing. read more

The movie "the birds "wasn't filmed here, it was filmed elsewhere in and around town. This place gives a shout out to the movie. It has a birds theme, and there are filming photos inside the main building. They have a gift shop grab and go, they have sodas, they have ice cream and espresso, and then you order and pick up your food from a "food shack" which is separate from the main building. They have outdoor seating, and also seating inside the main building. The menu was decent sized. Lots of seafood choices, of course, and then some other choices as well. I went for the shrimp roll on brioche, and a cup of the clam chowder. The clam chowder was excellent! A very decent sized portion. Creamy, and it had a decent amount of the clams and potatoes in it. Both the clams and the potatoes Were very tender. I liked it a lot. Between the sandwich and the chowder, I wasn't able to finish the chowder. Fortunately, I had a cooler in my car, and when I got home, it reheated very well. The shrimp roll was very good, with one small exception. The brioche was creamy and tender, and there was a half a pound of tender shrimp in the sandwich. The shrimp were very fresh. It Even came with a piece of grilled lemon to sprinkle on the sandwich The one small hiccup, was that the shrimp were in a "shrimp Louie dressing". Which was mayonnaise based. Unfortunately, it was overdressed, , and it took away from the shrimp, just a little bit. If I would've thought about it, I would've asked them to go light on the dressing. Other than that one small hiccup, the meal was very good, and considering you're in a small town and it's seafood, the price was reasonable I would gladly come back and try more items on the menu. This is an amazing spot to stop by if you're in Bodega Bay. We tried to go somewhere else first, and we were completely turned off by the massive line, so we landed at The Birds Cafe. There is plenty of outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they have a great selection for everyone. From oysters, to fish and chips, to tacos, and even salads, everyone in your party will have something to eat. Their breading is definitely unique. It gave hush puppy energy.
