Driving down the 1 and was starving and a lot of the CA small towns shut down early so glad we came across this place at 7 PM on a Sunday, a quick sit down restaurant that is capable of handling a rush, order at the counter, pick up your food and bus your table situation. Oysters were delicious, a little on the high side at $4 a piece but that's highway 1. The clam chowder bread bowl was overflowing, not the best chowder I've had in CA but delicious and the bowl was soft and chewy. The star was the crab sandwich and cooked to perfection fries. We made a point to get to the Fishetarian early since the last time we were in Bodega Bay the line was super long!!! We drove all the way from Dixon (1.5 hours) to try it out! The parking situation is crazy as big cars park in the little lot spaces, so make sure you bring your Prius and not your big truck! We managed to get a great spot. The deli/market was not super busy yet so we were happy for that! We didn't use the self-serve kiosk and went inside to the counter instead. I knew exactly what I wanted (2-piece Fishetarian-style Fish N Chips with sweet potato fries). Manuel wasn't as clear in his decision and ended up ordering the Lobster Roll. We sat outside at a picnic table overlooking the bay. It was a great little spot. Our food took about 10 minutes so it wasn't that long. I was so excited to eat my fish n chips! I was not disappointed. The fish was flaky, the breading was crunchy and the flavor was great with the tartar sauce and the chipotle mayo. Manuel enjoyed his lobster roll. He also used the chipotle mayo as some added sauce/flavor. The sweet potato fries were BOMB! We only had a couple that were burnt and most were perfectly crunchy! Omg I love the branding of this place!! Make sure to stop at their gift shop to get a cute shirt/hat/sticker with their logo on it. What really impressed me is their gluten-free offering that is celiac-friendly because it's prepared in a separate kitchen. My friend who has to eat strictly gluten free called the restaurant and that's how we found out it's celiac-friendly. She was able to comfortably order a meal that suited her needs. Beautiful view right by the water, and such a fun stop when visiting Bodega Bay! We tried the BBQ oysters, raw oysters, fried calamari and prawns, grilled fish tacos, and clam chowder; paired it all with a Humboldt cider. Everything was delicious! We were told by some people in Santa Rosa and a few locals to dine here. Talk about some tasty seafood! One of the first places we saw as we drove into Bodega Bay. Situated right on the water, it looked so inviting. After an afternoon of exploring and then wine tasting we drove straight here to chow down. So many choices from fried seafood, to grilled oysters they know what they are doing in the kitchen. We went with the grilled shrimp tacos and each bite was so fresh and tasty. We also tried the award winning Boston chowder and it tasted so good in the cool sea air. Pricing was fair for what we ordered. We sat outside as tables inside are limited but plenty of outdoor seating. There were also heat lamps set up in the dining area for comfort if you were cold. They have plenty of outdoor seating and are dog friendly so bring your pup! It was hard to decide what to get so my partner ended up with fish and chips and I got the fish tacos along with clam chowder. Fish tasted super fresh and was perfectly battered. Clam chowder was ok but didn't exactly hit the spot. I'm hoping to come back to try their calamari and lobster rolls! Service was friendly and they even came to give my dog water and a treat. Saw so many mentions of this place online, and I would say well worth the hype. The food, the ambiance, the merch...everything is great! (Minus perhaps the crowded parking, which only speaks to the popularity of this place). I liked that you can order inside or outside at a kiosk. Came on a Saturday evening and wait time was about 15-20 minutes. You find your own table and wait to hear them call out your name for the order. I also liked that when you order a drink, you can pay $3 extra to keep a souvenir cup (and you can even request a new unused cup at the end too! So you don't have to worry about taking home a cup with remnants of beer or other beverages inside). The sauce bar has 5 different sauces, but my favorite was the Maui Wowie. I thought they all complemented the fish and chips really well! We got kale slaw instead of chips as the side, and it was a nice refreshing side to have -- it really cuts through the greasiness from the fry! I thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried: clam chowder, fried fish, and crab sandwich. There's definitely other things on the menu I'd like to try as well! I also love all the merch they have inside. Hats, towels, aprons, shirts, etc...the design team really creates great designs! I went home with a tshirt and some magnets, along with a "fish dad" hat as a gift. Also heard there's a store inside. We ordered 24 raw oysters, lobster roll, beer battered fish tacos, clam chowder, and a flight of beer. They missed one of our orders at first, but an employee stationed at our area immediately helped us out. The oysters were HUGE but slightly fishy. The fish tacos weren't the best I've had, but it was still good. I think the best item was the lobster roll. For $31 market price (August 2026), the roll had a generous amount of crab meat. They also offer a lot of potato/fries sides to choose from. The beer flight came in this cute fish gizmo that made the experience fun. A seafood feast in Bodega Bay! We ordered a good variety to try--the hot Dungeness crab sandwich with sweet potato fries, Chowda' Fries, and the fried fish and shrimp combo with kale slaw. My favorites were definitely the Chowda' Fries and the fish and shrimp combo. The Chowda' Fries were pure comfort food--crispy fries loaded with creamy clam chowder, shredded cheese, green onions, and cilantro. Rich, messy, and very satisfying. I also really enjoyed the fish and shrimp combo. Both came out with a golden, crispy coating while the seafood stayed tender inside. A squeeze of lemon was perfect with it, and the kale slaw added a fresh, crunchy contrast to all the fried food. We also tried the hot Dungeness crab sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. It was hearty and filling, but between everything we ordered, the Chowda' Fries and fried seafood combo were the standouts for me. You can order inside at the counter or use the kiosk. One thing to keep in mind is that the food took quite a while to come out, so give yourself some extra time, especially if they're busy. I had seen a media piece that this place has the best seafood in California. That's quite the claim! Since we were passing through Bodega Bay we thought why not find out. It's right on Highway 1 and shared with another restaurant next door, supposedly owned by this owner's parents. OK, the parking lot is large but even at 1pm on a weekday it was difficult to find a spot. Luckily, we did. Parking karma! People were even parked along Highway 1. This place is very casual. Imagine a seaside fish market with outdoor picnic tables and benches. There's a variety of places to sit, waterside to in a large open tent-like structure. Since it was rather chilly we ate in the sun. Truthfully it wasn't that difficult to find an open table. There are LOTS of them. First, you order your meal. There are two open air kiosks or you can wait to order inside at the counter. We did the latter after perusing the menu board on the wall outside. Several items are 'market price'. We decided to try the fish and chips which comes in one of the daily available fish choices. As we got to the counter we saw that day it was halibut, which was just fine for us. The line wasn't too bad when we got on it, perhaps 15 folks ahead of us. Once we ordered we saw the line snaking out the door for a good distance. They do, however, move it along quickly. Since it was toward the late part of lunch hour many items in the display case you pass while waiting were already depleted. They also sell a lot of merchandise. Ordering was simple and easy. We were asked if we wanted 'beer battered' and we did. They handed us one of those beeper alarm devices and we were on our way to find a table. When the beeper went off I went to the counter and our order was there on a metal tray. One order with two pieces of fish ($22.) and one with three ($26.). There are large dispensers nearby for tarter sauce, ketchup along with napkins and rather flimsy metal utensils. (What makes me suspect people actually abscond with the knives and forks so best they be cheap. At least they're not plastic). Settling in to eat, the taste and tender juiciness of the fish was excellent, undoubtedly some of the freshest fish and chips I have ever had, including throughout England. I was pleased that the fish pieces were large. The batter was crispy and good and the three pieces I had more than substantial a lunch. I found the tarter sauce a bit watery but tasty enough. There's also vinegat and hot sauces on each table. The fries were also excellent. A bit of ketchup, sitting in the sun near the water- what could be better? I was in seafood heaven. Things are pricey but for good. fresh quality seafood it is worth it. Now, I want to try more! As I love and crave seaside seafood this is definitely a stop. It wasn't in Bodega Bay when I stayed here five years ago, but I suspect it will be around for a long time to come. GO!!! read more

For us, it was an easy halfway point and an easily accessible area to grab some food stretch your legs, and enjoy some beautiful scenery. When you arrive, they have a couple tablets you can self order or you can go inside and order with the workers. Their market has food on display, little trinkets, drinks, and much more. It's also where you pick up your food. They have a lot of seating outside. Plenty of tables near the restaurant, tables inside an open air building, and tables bayside. It's common to share communally. Most items are self serve such as utensils, takeout bags, etc. there's also a couple bathrooms. Service is efficient and nice. My family and I got Chowda Fries, Bowl of Chowda, Grilled Rockfish Sandwich, and Lobster Roll. I enjoyed my sandwich which I got with sweet potato fries. The rockfish was mild and slightly sweet with plenty of tartar on it. I enjoyed the bites of my mom's delicious lobster roll and the creamy rich spoonful of chowder. A classic stop for fresh seafood in Bodega Bay. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The beer battered fish and chips and the calamari are my favorites. They recently renovated and opened up the back building/patio area. It was my first time seeing the new space and I was impressed with how much additional seating was added. We were there pretty early around 11:30 after a round of golf at the links and managed to snag the last available table outside. There is a self serve sauce bar that has all the options you could want- tartar, ketchup, maui sweet sauce, cocktail sauce, chipotle mayo and more. The tartar sauce is my favorite and I always find myself going back for extra. The cocktail sauce is also amazing, with just the amount of horseradish in it. There isn't a added fee so use their website not Dash. They have done some upgrades in the past year and there is more seating and a heated covered area for those breezy/cold days and nights. Fiancé and I have come here a bunch of times and it is one of my favorite food spots. It's a perfect post hike meal too. We have had their seared ahi tuna sandwich, grilled rockfish sandwich, fish tacos, lobster roll, raw and grilled oysters, clam chowder and fish and chips. The only thing we felt was a pass was probably their clam chowder. Our faves are the sandwiches and oysters. The sweet potato fries are also really good. The garlic butter is our favorite of the oysters. The lobster roll was a tad over buttered on the roll but was overflowing with lobster. Overall flavors are always good. We park on the side of the road and we always find a spot quickly. There is never parking in the lot. They recently expanded their deck so there is way more seating. I like that they have seating in the warehouse because it is usually less cold and windy there. It's always crowded here but they get the food out pretty quickly. We stopped by the Fishetarian Fish Market for lunch over the weekend on our way up to Gualala. We were excited to try the grilled oysters, calamari/fish and chips combo, and the clam chowder. We tried all 3 options for the grilled oysters (garlic and butter, Maui wowi sauce which was a sweet chili, and bbq). Our favorite was the garlic and butter. The other two options were too overpowering in my opinion. For the fish and chips, we tried the panko crust and beer battered options. The panko one was nice and crispy, but the beer battered one was too thick and got soggy quick. Overall, this was a great spot to stop by. We took a day trip up to meet with family and my wife's been wanting to try this place for years. First off, we had the pups with us so it was important to use that this place along with the neighboring restaurants were dog friendly! They even came out to see if we needed bowls of water for the boys. Cool evening with a little sun. Perfect setting! Lots of tables available just have to wait till people finished and cycled through. We weren't too hungry but wanted to try a few things. We had a 12 count of raw shucked and a 6 count of grilled oysters. Clam chowder, lobster roll, fish & chips combo and some caviar for my niece to try. Everything was great, oysters were fresh and buttery tasting. Calamari was cooked through and the breading stayed crisp! After many years of passing by the busy lot for Fishetarian, I finally stopped in for an early dinner, last Saturday. It wasn't too long of a line since it was around 4 and between the lunch and dinner crowds. It's all order at the kiosk or counter, where you get a buzzer and pick up. Considering the name, I was happily surprised to see some vegetarian options, including tofu tacos and a veggie sandwich. I opted for the tacos which were a good size portion and a nice mix of flavors. There's plenty of outdoor seating, with and without heaters, both covered and open. It offers a no fuss, simple bay view dining experience. Very casual (and chilly-dress warm!) with a friendly vibe. The staff were very upbeat and helpful. As for food it was all very good our favorites were the clam chowder and calamari, the lobster roll was also very good and the fish and chips was probably our least favorite. It just seemed to lack flavor. The fish itself as well as the beer batter. Maybe a little more salt on both the fish and after the fry would help. The fries were very good and lastly the chocolate chip cookies was amazing! The big surprise of the day. Who ever makes those cookies deserves a cold pillow on hot nights for the rest of their days! When in Bodega Bay, do as they Bodegans do. Oysters by the bay, anyone? When you're ever along the northern coast, seafood is what you get when you're here. After a hike at the Estero Americano Preserve, my hubs and I were famished so we saw what was around the area. And this spot popped up. It was maybe a 5min drive from the trailhead, parking was easy. It's counter service so you just fall in line, order at the register and they hand you a beeper to let you know when your food is ready. We ordered the +octopus salad (delicious dressing) with a cup of +clam chowder ($5 more and you can add crab). But the piece de resistance *chef's kiss* had to be the +grilled oysters with garlic butter. For $25, you get a half dozen of these large fresh oysters plucked out in the bay smothered in garlic butter. We opted for warm sliced +sourdough bread to soak up the remaining juices. I really wanted to love this place but I was pretty disappointed. We came on a Friday and it was pretty empty so I think that contributed to the food not being as good as it could be. The bread on the fish sandwich was so soggy that it was inedible. The clam chowder was a bit on the thinner side and not too creamy but not the best I've had. I thought the fish on the sandwich (grilled) and on the taco (fried) was under seasoned. There's lots of seating so this place is clearly meant for large volume crowds and I think the food is probably better and fresher if you go when it's busy. They do make a big deal of having a bummer free guarantee which in hindsight I regret not taking advantage of however I also didn't want to waste food. Beautiful location the food headed amazing presentation and high-quality taste. My daughter had the rockfish sandwich. My wife had the lobster sandwich and I had the in-house lam chowder which was amazing and also the chowder fries. I was surprised they actually poured chowder over the fries and they were delicious. The location is absolutely stunning on the Boina Bay with views of all the boats in the water and the animals out in front. We got to watch the seal swim by and all the aquatic birds. Beautiful day there. The service was fast and attentive. The place was clean and they had plenty of outdoor seating. Been here a couple times and this place is never a disappointment, well maybe the parking but patience will pay off. My wife "won" a gift certificate to Fishetarian at the Farm Bureau Crab Feed and we were excited to be able to use it yesterday. We ordered clam chowder, fish and shrimp tacos, fish and chips, lobster roll and fried prawns. All very good but my favs - the chowder, fish and chips and fish tacos. We sat down by the water. A little chilly but beautiful view. Expect a lot of people but the staff moves things along pretty efficiently. Like I said earlier the food is worth the wait. read more
