Has been on my list for years and I finally made it! This place is very popular and known for their oysters. I was there about 30 minutes before opening and restaurant gets filled instantly so come early. Pro tip: you can order either upstairs or downstairs but you have to sit where you ordered. The line seems to be much shorter at the downstairs register - I also liked the seating in this area more. Great view and very high quality seafood with good portions. The smoked trout plate, crab sandwich, and fish sandwich were all very tasty. The clam chowder is standard and not noteworthy. The oysters were super fresh and a good size. Another pro tip: you can do a half portion of any of the oysters if you don't want a half dozen. Bathrooms are porter potty only.
10/10! Love this place. The customer service was amazing and super informative. You order inside and find a table outside and they bring your food out. All the food was amazing from the oysters to the sandwiches. Super fresh and tasty. There is seating outside or on their patio with an ocean view. My favorite was the BBQ oysters and crab sandwich.
With Tony's backed up with lines spilling on to PCH, we headed to The Marshall Store. Laid back and rustic with outdoor-only seating on metal chairs and wood tables set on wood chips, the Marshall Store has counter ordering, and they later bring food out to your table. Outside you'll find a porta-potty bathroom set up, as operations here are rustic. This is a casual waterfront dining experience that is completely outside and works best on a sunny day. The seaside views are pretty, the clam chowder is creamy, and the shrimp po boy ($22) on a cheese jalapeño roll with pickled toppings is a solid order. They have a self service mini-frig with beer, half bottles of champagne, mini Frog's Leap Sauvignon Blanc and sodas. Our oysters Rockefeller somehow got lost on the counter for 30 minutes before staff found it, and comped the dish to us. We ate them and I unfortunately regretted it. They tasted good in the moment, but they led to nausea and an upset stomach. Super friendly staff, harbor and bay views, and fresh cut flowers slightly smoothed some of the rough edges. I probably should have known better than to eat cooked oysters that had cooled. Overall, a 2-3 out of 5.
Wonderful pit stop along the 1 for seafood! Friendly service and relatively quick line! Plenty of seating available. - Clam chowder: loved the amount of herbs in this and the consistency was perfect - i liked how it was not goopy like other places do. Great clam flavor. - Cod sandwich: the focaccia was fluffy and the perfect thickness for the sandwich. The cod was seasoned nicely and overall a good balance with slaw filling
Came here for the first time and it was AMAZING !!! Highly highly recommend!!! Service was good. But oysters was amazing !!
Food was okay. First time here. Service was good. It was very busy when we went. We sat outside it was a nice sunny day. Could get chilly out of no where! Bring a jacket. Will definitely go back again and try something else on the menu.
I love Marshall for their fresh oysters. If you want raw or cooked oysters, Marshall has it! I couldn't go wrong with their food. I came here a few times and every time it has been consistently good food. When you arrive you enter a small entry doorway where you order first and the waiter comes and gives you your food. They have great service and wait staff. The only thing is challenging is finding seats because during the weekend it can get crowded with limited seating in the patio. The view is beautiful when the sunset hits the water and has a really nice scenery to take pictures. I definitely recommend the raw over the grilled. Some of the sauces can be overpowering which you can't control. The melted Brie cheese is so good on toasted bread. The smoked salmon was ok. It was a little salty when I tried it and I would skip it next time and just stick to oysters and their crab sandwich, or the melted Brie!
One of the must go restaurants in tomales bay area. The smoked oysters are fantastic and I wish I could eat them everyday. Raw oysters are fresh and delicious, my only food complaint was the fish stew being surpringly bland for the amount of ingredients thrown in! They did provide hot sauce and lemon but honestly I don't think it improved it by much. We got there at a good time before lunch because driving by it afterwards, there was absolutely no parking and a line down the street. So be early! The views are great from the outdoor seating, just be sure to bring a jacket if you get cold easy.

The oysters are decent and fresh and I also liked the crab roll too but wish they would've filled up the crab roll all the way. Wasn't a fan of the cucumbers in it didn't really fuse together tbh. The clam chowder was really underwhelming and liquidy I prefer it thick and also there wasn't much taste. Ceviche tostadas were ok...too acidic. Super overpriced here too so not really worth it. The bathrooms were essentially portable toilets, and the sinks were also temporary/disposable-style setups. I understand this is a more casual, roadside-style seafood spot, but considering the prices--$25 for six oysters and around $34 for a crab roll--I expected the customer facilities to be a little more substantial. At these prices, I think having a proper restroom and sink setup would make for a much better overall dining experience.
Pretty dive-y seafood place with a view! Parking can be tough with street parking on this tiny road, but its popularity shows it's worth it. It can get windy outside just fyi. The line moves quick and there's dock and outside seating. The veggie sandwich was surprisingly filling and fresh for my non meat eaters, but obviously this place is known for the oysters!
My friends and I were visiting Tomales Bay for the weekend, and eating fresh oysters was on our bucket list. After finishing our morning hike at Tomales Bay Trailhead, we did a quick Google search and found that The Marshall Store was the nearest restaurant. What also appealed to us is that in addition to serving oysters, The Marshall Store offered heartier fare such as soups and sandwiches. We drove straight from the trailhead and arrived just after opening (~11:30 AM). There was a short line out the door, but it moved quickly, and we were able to place our orders in about 20 minutes. After ordering, we found a table in the covered patio outdoors, which is squeezed between the Bay and a two-lane road. Our food came out quickly, starting with two types of oysters - fresh and BBQ - as well as clam chowder, ceviche tostada, chorizo fish stew, shrimp po'boy, and trout salad.The fresh oysters were briny and tasted fresh-from-the-ocean, and the BBQ oysters (my favorite) were served warm with a unique smokiness that was enhanced by a savory red sauce. I split the shrimp po'boy and chorizo fish stew with my friend, and together, this was a substantial meal. The shrimp po'boy, one of the best I've ever tasted, consisted of fresh jalapeño cheese bread stuffed with jumbo, juicy shrimp and lots of crisp veggies. The chorizo fish stew was hearty and flavorful, although it cooled off quickly and was lukewarm by the time it was served. The meal overall was on the pricier side given the casual vibes of eating roadside, but all of the seafood was incredibly fresh, and portions were generous. Plus, it's nearly impossible to re-create the roadside/bayside dining experience anywhere other than Tomales Bay.

They have outdoor seating , and some tables are a bit shielded from the wind. We were lucky to snag one such table. You place your order at the counter and are given a number and the food is brought out to you. They are known for their fresh oysters on the half shell, and have a variety of cooked oysters as well. We got the crab roll with cucumbers and picked onions and carrots, clam chowder and fried fish tacos topped with coleslaw and a cilantro avocado sauce. The seafood was fresh and tasty, although the portions seem a bit small for the price you pay. They also have some drinks and soft serve ice creams.
The Marshall Store is another spot we visit whenever we're in Pt. Reyes. Located on Highway 1, it's just down the road a bit from Hog Island, so we'll typically hit this spot either right after Hog Island, or the following day, depending on our appetite. Unlike Hog Island, you generally don't need a reservation to get in, but you might need to wait a bit for a table. There is seating both in the upper area next to Highway 1, or in the back area of the restaurant, closer to the water. Both are perfectly nice to sit at. Depending on where you end up, you may be completely unshielded from the sun, so hats and sunscreen are a must. The food is delicious. Everything is always fresh and local. Raw Tomales Bay oysters, BBQ'ed oysters, various seafood dishes, sandwiches, cheeses, and crab when it's in season. Speaking of crab - a bit of a tangent story here - about five years ago during a weekend in Pt. Reyes, I indulged heavily in crab as well as other shellfish, and quickly developed a severe allergic reaction where my face swelled up beyond recognition. It took a couple of months for the swelling to fully subside. Subsequently, I was diagnosed with a shellfish allergy, which I'm certain was a misdiagnosis (wouldn't be the first time) because I've continued eating shellfish per usual since with no further issues. I believe that particular season there was something with the algae or something else in the water that provoked such a severe reaction. To be safe, I now carry an epi pen, but have thankfully never needed it. And you best believe next time they have crab, we'll be ordering a couple, lol. Anyway, The Marshall Store is a terrific stop along Highway 1. Be sure to check it out when in the area. Enjoy! read more
Visited here because we were unable to get a reservation at Hog Island Oyster Co and it turned out to be a decent alternative. The fresh oysters were disappointing. At $25 for 6 oysters, the price is high, especially considering they harvest the oysters themselves and their oysters were quite small. The Rockefeller Oysters were the highlight of the meal. The oysters were larger, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the sourdough bread. Highly recommended. Chorizo Fish Stew was excellent and my favorite, lot of ingredients and full of flavor. New England Clam Chowder was also quite good, with a nice balance of creaminess without being overly thick. The outdoor seating has a nice waterfront atmosphere, facing the Tomales Bay, but be prepared for strong winds. Even during summer, it can get chilly. I love a good hole in the wall... or in this case, a tent on the side of the road overlooking Tamales Bay. The Killpatrick Oysters were delicious. Pro tip, dunk your roasted bread into the savory juices left in the oyster shells. Friendly staff and beautiful views. read more
This spot is a little off the beaten path but the food and views are well worth the detour, and a must-visit if you're planning a trip to the Point Reyes area. We ordered the clam chowder, a half dozen of the raw oysters, and a half dozen split between the chorizo and Kilpatrick oysters (when we couldn't decide between the two, they were nice enough to offer to split). Their clam chowder is our favorite in the Bay Area to date; it could've been slightly thicker in consistency, but there was a good proportion of clams and we loved the herby flavor. The raw oysters were fantastic! They were large and briny, and complemented well with their house-made sauce. We only wish we ordered more of these! We also enjoyed the chorizo and Kilpatrick oysters. Between the two, we both liked the Kilpatrick better as the chorizo was a little drier than anticipated (maybe lacking in a little extra butter), but we were glad to have tried both. The rustic sourdough side bread was also amazing! The crust was thick / crisp and the inside was incredibly soft and fluffy, with a little bit of butter inside. This spot is small, casual and peaceful! We really enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the water--Tomales Bay was calm and it was quiet out, even though there were several customers at The Marshall Store! We arrived right at 11 and a few people were already waiting outside for opening. This place is obviously popular because it started filling up fast! read more
After our kayak camping trip, our guide recommended The Marshall Store down the road for some seafood. Some dishes were 10/10, and some were just alright. We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the stunning view on that clear, sunny day. We shared half a dozen of raw oysters, the grilled Kilpatrick oysters with garlic butter and bacon, and the grilled Chorizo oysters with chorizo butter. Each order came with fluffy garlic bread. All the oysters tasted fresh and succulent, and I'd recommend the raw ones over the grilled ones. The bacon flavor dominated the Kilpatrick. I enjoyed the blackened rock cod sandwich and chorizo fish stew a lot. However, the fish tacos were a bit bland, and the ceviche tostada was just fine (I prefer my fish to be in larger chunks for ceviche). The local water buffalo gelato soft serve split into two cups is the way to go. Although it tasted pretty similar to regular soft serve, it was a nice way to finish off the meal. read more

Best day ever. We arrived on a saturday at 11:10 (they open at 11), we were able to get seated no problem. However, by the time we were finished (about an hour later), there was a huge line waiting to order. We sat outside, the sun was shining, beautiful! some bees kept trying to join our meal but that comes with eating outside. I LOVED this! Fresh oysters, rockefeller oysters, chorizo stew, cod sandwich. I think i liked the clam chowder more than the chorizo stew, but both still solid. I loved the foccacia bread of the cod sandwich. I also enjoyed how much bread came with the oysters - tbh it was a little TOO much bread, but still enjoyable. read more
The drive out to The Marshall Store is beautiful, though the road is quite windy--so if you get carsick easily, be prepared. Parking is available both before the restaurant and just past it, which makes things easy. Bathrooms are porta potties only. The dining area is fully outdoors and sits right above the water, offering an incredible view. Note that dogs aren't allowed inside the ordering area, so plan to come with a friend or be ready to leave your pup outside. After ordering, they bring the food out and call your name to make sure it goes to the right table. It can get chilly, so definitely bundle up. There are high bar tables where you can look out over the water as well as larger family-style tables. The oysters are the freshest! The clam chowder is a must-order, and all the sandwiches are great. On this trip we had the crab sandwich and the fish sandwich (served on focaccia)--both so delicious! The cooked oysters also come with toasted garlic bread. Amazing food all around! read more

We came here before opening and there was already a line - if that tells you anything! Beautiful spot with LOTs of outdoor seating which lines the building and along the water/road side. There was only one vegetarian option - a vegetarian sandwich which was quite nice but no protein. The sauce and vegetables were fresh and tasty! The meat eaters really enjoyed the oysters and said it was the best oysters they have had - EVER! The staff are super kind, and it was a beautiful set up. read more

Stopped by recently after a long absence. Appreciate the expanded outdoor seating. The menu has a bit of something for all. We split BBQ oysters and a tri tip sandwich. I was impressed with the size of the sandwich. It ain't fancy, but it's good and fresh. Try it for yourself! read more
This place was poppin busy! Even so, the service was quick and friendly. The tri tip and pulled pork sandwiches were juicy and flavorful. The bbq oysters were yummy and you can smell the garlic bread the closer you get to this restaurant. The view on the water is beautiful and highly recommend this place. Try to get there early as both times we've gone they've been pretty packed. read more
Absolute MUST GO to place in Point Reyes. We were camping nearby and drove to get a parking spot early. We had time to peruse the menu and knew what we wanted...oysters, of course. We got a couple of grilled oysters with the toppings. Next time, we will try other items on the menu, but we were here for the oysters. They let me order/pay for my soft serve ice cream when I made my oyster order. Then when we were done with the oysters, I could just go back and show my receipt to get the ice cream...no waiting in the long line. The place filled up very quickly, so if you can get there as close to opening as you can, it will make it easier to get a seat, etc. Have someone save you a spot. read more
Why 4 stars? Because this was a memorable experience, if nothing else. --- --- --- My Dad and I were spending the day on a scenic drive through Marin County/North Bay. I wasn't sure if we were going to end up all the way in Bodega Bay or if we could stop short of there, so I bookmarked a couple of options for both scenarios. We ended up being quite hungry pretty early on, so we went for the "don't drive all the way to Bodega Bay" option. That brought us here, to Marshall. The appeal is that the restaurant is perfectly situated between the water and the mountain. Because of that location, you pay a premium price for your food here. The tax for an amazing view - and I was happy to pay it. The unfortunate thing here is that we picked the windiest day in the history of Earth to come here. I have never stood outside during a hurricane, but I would imagine that it couldn't be more intense than it was on this day. There were no seats available inside, so we headed to the covered tent area, and unfortunately, there were no spots there either! We eventually grabbed the first open table, but it was barely covered by the tent and the wind was still hitting us quite intensely. We quickly realized that we definitely were going to need to find a new table before our food arrived. A bunch of people were all lingering around trying to find a table themselves, but we were very lucky and ended up getting one ourselves that was a lot more shielded from the wind. Granted, it was still not very pleasant, but it was definitely better than the other table. Now that we were settled, it was time for the food: BBQ Oysters: 5-stars. I have never seen BBQ Oysters on a menu before. I love BBQ. I love oysters. And I loved the combination. Clam Chowder: 4-stars. Good - not great, not bad. The temperature was my favorite part in these crazy winds on a chilli day. Fish Tacos: 3-stars. To be honest, I didn't really like much about these, so 3-stars is probably generous. And they were $20 for two very small tacos. Cookie: 4-stars. This was a hearty cookie with a nice mix of salty and sweet. My dad very much enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich and raved about how much food he got for the money - basically the opposite of the fish tacos. And when he said that's what he was going to order, I shamed him for not ordering seafood at a place like this. He got the last laugh. Friendly people and amazing views, but choose an alternative if it's windy. read more

First time going here & had an amazing experience. Every year we drive down to Bodega Bay to get oysters for my fathers birthday. But this time we decided to stop here first. WOW!!!!! The most sweet oysters I have ever had. We also got the grilled oysters and it had so much flavor! Looking forward to going back during summer! read more
Stopping at The Marshall Store was easily one of the best decisions I made while visiting San Francisco. I had heard great things, but nothing could have prepared me for how incredible the experience was. As soon as I arrived, I was blown away by the view--right on the water, with boats passing by and the most peaceful, picturesque setting. Sitting outside with the salty breeze and the sound of the waves made it feel like a perfect little escape. Now, let's talk about the food--because wow. I started with the BBQ oysters, and they were unreal--smoky, buttery, and packed with flavor. I also tried the raw oysters, which were some of the freshest I've ever had, briny in the best way. And the clam chowder? Absolutely perfect--creamy, rich, and full of fresh clams. Every bite felt like a taste of the ocean. The whole vibe was so laid-back and welcoming. It's an order-at-the-counter kind of place, so you just grab your food, find a seat by the water, and take it all in. No frills, just amazing food and even better views. Delicious oysters! Fresh oysters, that are good raw or cooked. The cooked oysters come in a variety of flavors that give you distinct, diverse tastes. And the bread is fantastic. A little expensive, but worth a visit if you're in the area. Indoor and outdoor seating, but always bustling and lively. Service is decent, they just bring out your oysters. read more
I've been here many times. Just haven't been here in almost 4 yrs. Wow, time flies. I made the almost 90 min drive on Mother's Day. Timed it so we'd arrive just as they opened. To our somewhat surprise, there was already a line and small groups of people saving tables (though staff kindly said it wasn't allowed) as we snagged a parking spot past the road side awnings. The weather was gorgeous, a bit breezy, so glad I brought an extra jacket, checking the weather before leaving the house. In the 50s. We waited no more than 15 minutes as we took turns using the outdoor port-a-potties. I don't recall them being this...gross in the past. To boot, they were out of (sink) water just outside, so we were directed to go downstairs and ask to use the main sink. Note: They now have a downstairs area where you can order and seat. It's separate from the main ordering area (upstairs aka street level). As Hubs was in line to order, I went to look for a table. Although the sun was out, it was a bit too chilly to sit outside to eat facing the water. Opted to sit inside near the oyster prep and oyster grilling kitchen where it was nice and cozy, still giving us the water front view. Onto the food. The sandwiches came out first. Tri tip and then probably 15 minutes later, the crab sandwich. The tri tip had a nice thick cut of foccacia bread, a good size layers of crispy chilled lettuce, tomatoes, a sauce (can't remember what) thinly sliced trip tip, a side of pickled onions (my fav). The sandwich is extremely messy and dripped onto my pants so get some napkins near the oyster bar area. 3.5/5 The crab sandwich came next. Fresh chunks of dungeness crab meat piled on top of a toasted roll and sliced of chilled cucumbers. Again, those pickled onions I love. The crab itself didn't have much flavor or dressing. I generally like crab pure with my frills or sauces. But this sando was just that. Crab lumps lacking flavor. 3/5 Yes, I know this place is known for oysters but I still wanted to try their sandwiches because...why not? Of course, we ordered oysters! 3 types to be exact. Rockafeller (classic), Kilpatrick (sp?) With the bacon and bbq sauce, and the chorizo. I always forget that the Rockafeller, although it was very tasty, cheesy, and flavorful, it was my least favorite (dunno why I always order it whenever I come). 3/5 Hubs insisted on the Chorizo, and I am glad he ordered it bc this was actually my favorite out of the three. The chorizo oils really marinated into the oysters during the grilling process that every bite and slurp of the juice was just delicious. 4/5 And last, the "BBQ and bacon" one. Lots of smoky flavors. Some had a bit too much sauce that took away from the oysters. 3.5/5 There is this crusty garlic bread that is served with the oysters. My DD'S favorite. Note: She never grew up liking bread but this bread she wanted to even take home the leftovers. It was that good to her. 4/5 Service was great and efficient. Oysters took some time to come out because they literally make them to order, sitting next to the prep/ grill station. The view was amazing. 4/5 Had to also grab a chocolate chip cookie. Not even sure I should post this review bc it they certainly don't need the hype! The Marshall store is an absolute gem. Busy but worth it. The grilled oysters are life changing. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. There's something about eating seafood on the water - doesn't get any better read more

Came on a holiday and it was busy! Be warned: there is little to no service in the area so just be prepared. There's two places you can order, but wherever you order is where you have to sit (upstairs vs downstairs). Most of the seating is outdoors with a nice view of the water. There was a line to order but it went by quickly. Didn't wait too long to get the food and overall the food was great! Oysters were very very fresh. read more

Dog friendly patio?
Yes, the covered seating area by the parking is dog friendly. That’s also where you have to sit if you purchase booze.
Are there any other available outdoor seating besides the tent area?
Yes. There's the downstairs section with umbrellas outside. Another place to order. Also, the upstairs waterfront along the outer perimeter of the restaurant
How busy is it on Sunday? Should we arrive early before opening?
It gets quite busy, there's almost always a wait. I would arrive as early as possible.
Can we make reservations for 8?
Unfortunately they do not take reservations, they operate first come first serve
Are there still dollar oyster specials on Thursdays?
They still call it dollar oysters but they are actually about 1.30 each when you get a dozen raw oysters.
