The ambience was very intimate (be ready to like your neighbor table), but I liked that there were games and books by the door for guests to utilize. Service was spotty. There was only two people serving, and I witnessed a group of three wait 10 minutes at the door to be sat because the servers disappeared, one of them to go next door for a canister of propane. Exceptionally Bad Service Last 2 Visits to Tap Room at Inverness Park This review is from approx 6 months ago (Aug 22 2025). i've been meaning to create an account and post this review, but have been too busy. i was motivated to write a review today because I experienced a 5/5 recent service from an auto body shop near where i live. i got my thinking about the opposite experience from this past summer that we have not forgotten about. I also assume the Tap Room has a different owner and/ or management than the IP Market next door b/c we always have 5/5 from the market and the owner and I support the same soccer team in the EPL. So Pt Reyes area is place of zen for me and my girlfriend who live in the East Bay Area. We often travel to West Marin for special occasions and vacations. This review is for a birthday dinner. I knew something was not looking promising for the night when some guy from the bar put a sandwich board sign about 2' directly behind our car so we couldn't get out of space on SFD w/o moving the sign. We sat outside and it took over 5 minutes for someone to approach us. It was a young women that took our drink order. she started with us, then ditched us and an older asian woman bartender/ server took over. it took over 10 minutes to get our drinks, probably 15 additional minutes to place our order. overall it was almost 40 minutes from the time we sat down, for what we thought would be an enjoyable birthday dinner, until our meal was served. the asian lady was too busy flirting w/ the two men that arrived at the next table well after us but somehow got their food and drinks before us. when the food finally arrived, I commented they must be busy tonight. the server calmly said we are not busy. so i guess that means she intentionally gave us bad service. the food was cold, they never checked on us, and we left no tip. Her mistake in misjudging us b/c I am a very generous tipper. So i suggest skipping the pub for eating if you are in Pt Reyes area and get something to go from the market or in Pt Reyes Station. read more

First time here. The last time I had dinner in this neck of the woods, there were two Czech restaurants in Inverness. This is a cool little place along Drake. After we sat down, I really got the sense that we were the only out-of-towners in the restaurant. I liked that and would expect it on a rainy Saturday night. We got our food very quickly. My daughter had a cheeseburger with garlic fries and I had the "Heart's Desire" tri-tip sandwich with salad. I know my daughter was hungry but I've never seen her eat a burger so quickly. My sandwich was tasty also but needed more BBQ sauce. They have a decent small selection of beers on tap and a few different wines by the glass. Good, solid meal. I will return. Note: For some reason, the plates, cups and utensils were all disposable (paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups). It's not the least bit fancy or pretentious, but that's the kind of place I seek out. My wife had clam chowder (amazing) and great home cut fries, her daughter had their delicious creamy tomato basil soup and a ceasar salad, and I had their killer fish tacos. My friends and I popped in The Tap Room during a camping trip. The bartender/server gentleman was so welcoming and sat us at a perfect indoor table, slightly secluded, which was good cuz conversation can get loud with six of us. Turns out their pub style menu is only available on Fridays and Saturdays. Wednesday is sushi night, other nights have other themes. We ended up staying and ordering sushi, since we didn't have time to travel back to Point Reyes Station to find other food. It was totally fine. We noticed customers arriving at (or just right before ) closing time and they were still warmly welcomed as well. The fish had a nice crispiness to it but just a little bland, would be good if it had a little more creme sauce in it. What a great little spot my mom and I stumbled upon while staying out on the Tomales Bay. We stayed at the Tomales Bay resort the night before our venture out on the water the next morning. We were looking for a good place to grab a bite and beer and found the Tap Room straight down the road. They had local halibut fish and chips as a special and when I tell you that these were the best fish and chips I've ever tasted.. they were the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. We then split their nachos with carnitas which was another amazing bite. The bartender taking care of us was so friendly and accommodating by letting us try a taste of each beer of our interest until we found the one we wanted to commit to and putting the Warriors game on the TV for us right when we requested it. Overall, we were incredibly happy with the quality of food, service, and vibe of the joint that we went back the next day after our kayaking trip. My mom got a mushroom sandwich and I got their fish tacos. We both raved to each other about how amazing our meals were and we again got amazing service by the wonderful lady taking care of us. The food options are scarce around here, so the higher than average price to pay for the food is warranted. However, the beer was cheaper and there was a good selection. Farmhouse lager was what most people were getting, but I opted for the IPA. On a Saturday afternoon, it was not too busy and it was self seating here. It is dog friendly and family friendly here. Dogs are at the outside seating of course. Service was quick! Server got me an IPA right away. After placing the order, my "Heart's Desire" was ready in a jiffy. This trip tip sandwich was filling and satisfying and the bacon was thick yet crispy. The tri tip was juicy and it was a good sandwich overall. I got the popular trio of fish tacos and they were DELICIOUS. Packed with fish, avocado, and sauce. I absolutely loved them. My husband got the Heart's Desire sandwich with friends (salad is an option too) and it was yummy and super filling. We also got 2 beers (they come in to-go cups). They have self-serve water and a bunch of boardgames to choose from. They also have wine and sake, which was interesting to see for a tap room that I thought would only serve beer. The clam chowder hit the spot and the garlic fries were better than baseball games! On our way out to go see the Elephant Seals we stopped in to this little local spot. It was Sushi Might and boy was it good. Sara had a local wine and I tried a local pale ale. They were both very good. The place maybe sat 25 people and it was packed. Our server, Lena, was great. Very nice lady that was truly on top of her game. Then the bill came. Holy snot Batman! A mixed review on our end, but "A-OK" is probably appropriate. It's a cute little place, but the painfully uncomfortable stools left a lot to be desired. Out waitress was not very friendly or helpful, but might have just been a little slammed with the crowd. The selections were good though a bit pricey. We got the Mushroom Melt and Fried Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fry substitution for the house cut fries. We also go the Caesar salad and a slice of delicious looking cake to go. We were happily surprised by the size of everything on our plates (the togo dessert being a different surprise as we discovered later). The mushroom melt with pesto was too greasy for my taste, but had good flavor and was a good veggie option. The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good, and all the fries were quite tasty. The caesar salad was great deal for the size and quality. I was disappointed to find an unexpected $4 upcharge for the sweet potato fries substitution on one plate. Our final disappointment was the ridiculously tiny piece of cake they gave us in the to go box for $8. The food was fine, but would definitely recommend just ordering from the Iverness Park Market next door (it's the same menu made from the same kitchen) and then find seating on your own. I love the Tap Room! It seems mostly locals come here for the food and beer and I am always a little wary if tourists will be welcomed. As a person of color, I never know if the vibe will be friendly or otherwise. Everyone from the the guy taking our orders to the diners were friendly, welcoming and the vibe was lively and fun. I felt like I belonged. The particular night we were there, a pair of traveling musicians set up their gear and played a lovely set of easy listening music. The food was great (taco Tuesday) and my husband, the beer enthusiast, loved their limited but tasty selections. I had a hard time extracting him from the bar!
