Wild Mushroom Toast - this was not wild mushroom but crimini, so just a slight adjustment to title, IMHO

Solid spot while in the area. If the decor was a sign for how delicious the food is then this place would be hitting it out of the park! Alas, decor is cuter than food is delicious but that's OK. We shared dishes and tried a few things which was fun to be able to taste more of the menu. I'm a sucker for a good dip so I was excited for the cod dip. We ordered extra crackers, so my pic reflects a double order. The dip was good overall in flavor but too loose/watery in texture and not really Smokey despite the title. If it was thicker it would have been a little stronger overall. The winter salad was good but I'm never a fan when big chunks of lettuce are served. I want a salad that is chopped and mixed properly together to meld the flavors and this wasn't that. Maybe it just comes down to personal preferences. Overall I'm glad we checked it out. I can't say I'd drive from home which is in east Santa Rosa just for it, but I'd make it happen again when in the area.

Overall solid B: great place, staff, cozy indoor/outdoor seating, yummy pizza fix after a long volunteering day at Pt Reyes: winter chicoties pizza pie (farm eggs, pecoriono, agliato), house salad, IPA beer and house red wine.

Beets with endives, citrus and walnuts

We went to Due West on Valentine's Day for which they had a special menu, so this review doesn't apply to the usual dishes. Even so, I'm sorry to say the food didn't live up to my expectations. The little gems salad was beyond acidic and the sunchokes were hardly roasted as advertised on the menu. I'd have surely passed had I been given the smallest taste of the apple cider vinaigrette. The beets were a huge improvement with a well composed mix of endives, walnuts and citrus. That'd be a repeater. I'm happy to report that everything else, from the warm service to the charming dining room to the stunning location in West Marin made it a worthy experience, but I hope someday I'll return for the regular menu and be wowed.

Was my first time stopping by this place on my way home from Stinson beach. Initially stopped her for a drink but decided to check out the food menu as well. Jesse was an amazing bartender w/ good conversation and great drink suggestions especially when I didn't know what I wanted. It was nice to hear that others coming in also were excited for his cocktails. I love the decor of this place and how cozy it feels. Loved hearing that they do have an outdoor seating area w/ heaters so I will def check that out next time! I enjoyed my entree and everything was flavorful.

We went hiking at Bear Valley and stopped by this tavern for lunch. The place was nicely decorated and we were seated immediately. Although their was only one other couple dining there, it took awhile for our food to be served. We both ordered the kale salad and fried chicken burger. The food was delicious!

Great food and good beers. Service was average. The atmosphere was good. Parking wasn't a problem.

They offered to bring out heat lamps to the deck but I opted to move indoors. I wasn't prepared for a menu that had many of my favorite dishes. I opted for the Family meal with burata tomato basil bruschetta, oxtail ragu ( sourced from local Steme Creek), crème brûlée and a glass of house wine. My companion ordered off the menu so we could try more items. With several excellent seafood restaurants in Marshall, we opted to lean towards the beef options, sourced from temple Creek. We loved the winter chicory salad suggested by our server Katherine, with roasted delicata squash, pear, Point Reyes blue cheese, and a balanced pomegranate vinaigrette. The Stemple Creek braised short ribs were tender and in a rich red wine jus and came with za'atar roasted baby carrots. I'd order the carrots as a side if we didn't have it with our ribs. The ragu was robust in flavor. With several excellent seafood restaurants in Marshall, we opted to lean towards the beef options. Our plates were immaculate after we scraped off every morsel. The crème brûlée was not overly sweet and had a perfect carmelized crust. The chocolate pot du crème looked like overkill but was a careful construction of texture, sweet, salt, and crunch without being overwhelming. Weekday diners will help sustain this gem. It is worth the drive whether you are in West or Central Marin.

We happened to wander to the end of the adjoining pier while we waited for our meal, which ended up being a top notch idea. Not only is there a darling, maritime-themed cottage, but we found a selection of board games that were up for grabs and we borrowed Yahtzee! to entertain ourselves during our meal. We weren't especially hungry, so we opted for a selection of sides, plus my friend is a fan of mussels, so we tried their weekly special. While seafood isn't my usual preference, the broth was delicious with a warm heat to it. Next up were the Mushroom à La Grecque, which I found on the sides menu. Simple, but tasty. The Grilled Asparagus could've learned something from the simplicity of the mushroom dish. It's trying to do so much. The crumbled hard-boiled egg and the marcona almonds, which lost most of their crunch. The gremolata wasn't noticeable and the seasonings weren't a garnish as much as a layer atop the vegetables. I ordered asparagus because I actually enjoy it and it was smothered. On the other hand, I love Strauss Dairy's everything. Nick's Cove offers a lavender or blue corn cone for their soft-serve ice cream and a number of other delicious options to get your ice cream on after your main course. I went with the swirl of vanilla and chocolate and was not disappointed! I strongly recommend making the stop. The drive out to Marshall is beautiful - anytime of the year and this is a special place to linger and enjoy the region.

This is a very down home-style kind of location - tucked away among the trees in Woodacre / San Geronimo. With an inviting family-like dining room, along with a fireplace, a bar for the locals up front (we can ALL be locals here!), and a spacious back patio, where you can bring your dog if you'd like, but just a gorgeous deck under the trees -- Giaco's Valley Roadhouse provides an idyllic setting for a relaxing dining experience. But wait, there's more! The food! It's absolutely outstanding. There is nothing on the menu that I've tried yet, but I don't fully enjoy. The last couple of times I have, it has been for brunch. It made such an impression on me the last time that I had to bring my kids this time. Among the many jewels on the menu is an incredible Maple Pear French Toast - obviously seasonal, but it hits the exact perfect notes. Covered in a generous dollop of ricotta, these dense custard-soaked French toast slices are covered with warm pear bits -- and candied walnuts... plus pure maple syrup. It's worth the trip by itself. Other brunch items were well received - two eggs breakfast, huevos rancheros, and a special omelet boasting cheddar, bacon and spinach. Add a wine list - by the glass - that doesn't disappoint.... Amazing brunch! But it's not just brunch, this place is open for dinner and has a delicious looking menu that I've sampled once before. Come for the inviting setting, get rewarded by the amazing food, and top it all off with attentive friendly service...all at a very reasonable price. You will not be disappointed.

Since when is Pico de gallo just a few diced tomatoes? It said it came with beans. Which is something that would typically be in a taco salad at the bottom. Well, this one didn't. It had a few black beans sprinkled on top. Then the corn? Unsure about that but there were sprinkles of that. I had to pay for the guacamole. Okay, typical. Then onto the the protein. Typically, taco salads come with this but not at this place. They charge $5 extra for that and it wasnt very much. The "asada" was the tiny cubed type. You know the type you see in grocery stores? It tasted like meat that had been left in the fridge for a few days and reheated. So, if you like lettuce in a taco shell that has a few sprinkles of other things, then this $25 "taco" salad is for you. My 14 yr old is a better cook. We also ordered a bean a cheese burrito. He did say that was a kids burrito, so I said okay. I didn't know it was $12. The waffle fries were good. Someone we brought with us ordered those and shared. I feel bad for the people who actually live in this town and this is one of the veey limited options they have for eating out. Over the years, I haven't had one decent food place ranging from Stinson beach up to bodega bay. I'd gladly pay the prices if any of the food was actually good.
