Bread pudding
Tasha H.

The nicest restaurant in town with a big menu with plenty to choose from. Not cheap, but generous portions and everything was tasty. Oysters - cleaned well, really cold and sweet. Smoked trout salad- a sleeper hit. I really loved this! Lots of trout and the dressing was perfect. Wagyu skirt steak - this was cooked well and the sauce was addicting. However not all the membrane/silver skin was removed so very tough to chew Lamb bolognese - this was a winner. Tons of meat, big portion, just delicious Bread pudding - very tasty and loved the caramel and cream. But it was not warmed through which I think would have made it even better!

The turkey chili here is smoky and solid, served with cornbread muffin and creamy butter

We've come to Station House Cafe for years in all its iterations. Back in its original location again but with a modern, moody decor, it's still a cozy, welcoming stop. This visit we had a nicely crafted mezcal (NA) cocktail with a rich, earthy depth that made it feel like a true cocktail, not a compromise. We enjoyed their turkey chili: generous, hearty, & smoky, topped with cheese and served alongside cornbread. Their bread plate ($7) features cornbread and Station House's popovers--airy, golden and served with butter. (A historical favorite, we are glad to see them still on the menu.) Service is helpful, & made needed adjustments. That said, our entrée salad was underwhelming. The smoked trout salad ($18) barely had trout, mostly grated cheese, romaine leaves and a few trout shreds, making it feel sparse and not worth the price. Unevenly dressed, there were more of bites of plain romaine lettuce than I would have liked. For us, Station House is a reliable 3-3.5 stars. I'm thankful they kept their nostalgic popovers on the menu. A good stop overall --but order thoughtfully.

Overall C: cozy spot, Sunday evening on the way home after a long day docent-ing at Point Reyes. Good service, decent portions, bit overpriced for disappointing fried oysters, ceaser salad, potato leek soup, mocktail.

Clam chowder

Great lunch spot in Point Reyes! Lots of indoor seating available. Service was quick and attentive. Great ambiance as well. My favorite thing here were the oysters! We got both raw and broiled, but personally I prefer the raw oysters. Their oysters are SO plump and fresh. I highly recommend. We also ordered a station house burger, clam chowder, and macaroni croquettes. All were pretty decent as well.

The food was tasty, the happy hour deals are good. Outside of happy hour the prices are a little steep but given the location it is ok. Service was friendly and fast. The inside was modern and cozy. Would definitely come back to try more items on the menu. They serve Pliny the Elder for those interested in good beer.

Hangtown fry
Morgan R.

I the grand tradition of the California gold rush, I ordered one of my all-time favorite meals - a Hangtown Fry - basically an open-faced omelette with fried oysters, bacon, and usually spinach. The station house came through, and the Hangtown fry came with salad and home fried new potatoes -- yum! Located on the main drag, it's a pleasant restaurant, appealing on the outside and attractive on the inside. The service was impeccable. I'll be going back the next time I'm in town. My only beef: a 5% "Fair Wage surcharge". What is that? If it's a cost of doing business, build it into the pricing ... don't annoy me with involuntary upsells.

A local suggested this wonderful restaurant when I was in the area 7.22.25. The service was attentive, comfortable ambiance, and excellent food. I had the Kurobuta pork chop with "spice, brined and grilled; creamy mashed potatoes, broccolini, and apricot chutney." I enjoyed the Reishi hot tea.

Wagyu Steak
Roger R.

Decided to drop in and try Station house. I ordered the Wagyu Steak which was very good and tender and was decently sized. They have Pliney on tap which is good. Our server was great and everyone was friendly. The only surprise was that they charge a 5% mandatory living wage cost when the bill came. I'm not a fan of this and it's basically asking customers to help the restaurant pay for their employees wages. I don't believe this should be the customers responsibility. Even though it's not considered "tip" I did consider it the same. I will usually avoid places like this. Other than that give the Wagyu a try and be wary that this place charges this fee.

I've been enjoying meals at Station House for many years, long enough to remember the change from little diner to "big place" across the street, and now back again. I must admit I miss the patio, that was the selling point of the big place. However, losing the patio to gain this newly-renovated original spot makes it sting a bit less. I hate to lead with a mention of the restroom, but the new restroom is really nice, super duper clean and spacious. OK, so to the food... Same delicious food they've always served, with a caveat that sometimes a dish has been just a little bit off the mark. I say that with love. I've never had a disappointing meal at Station House, but I have experienced a few times when a dish is lacking just slightly, like popovers that aren't quite as fresh as they usually are, or a beet salad with less goat cheese than usual. It's OK to not be perfect. As I said, I've eaten here many times, and it's a longtime tradition for my family to eat here when we come out to Pt. Reyes, so the occasional miss on one dish will not keep us from coming back. The service is friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is always warm and relaxing.

Veggie burger

I had family visiting, who stayed locally and we came to Station House Cafe for their first night. It was a foggy, chilly Sunday night but the summer crowds were all in town, wrapping up their weekend. We lucked out and got a table for 4 just before 5 pm, when their dinner menu was on offer. It's pricey but not outrageous and I ordered the house made veggie burger with their side salad. The burger was a little bland. Overall the food was just okay but the ambiance and service were what won me over. I may come back to try their breakfast or lunch menus if I'm looking for a nicer meal in the area.

Popovers and corn muffin. Yum!

First time customers. My wife and I stopped in here for a bite to eat. Place has an upscale feel to it. Jan was our server and did a great job. We both ordered the Ruben sandwich, comes with house made potato chips. Toasted bread, sauerkraut, and tender corned beef. We also ordered the bread basket that includes a corn muffin, and 2 popovers. Served with honey salted butter. The mixture of salty sweet flavor was delightful. Ample portions, we both took part of your sandwich with us to enjoy later. Also to note- the bathrooms in this place were squeaky clean. Nicest I have ever seen. It matters. We would not hesitate to go back again and try other things on the menu. The popovers take me back to a time when I was very small. My mom used to make them. Had not had one in many years. This was a great dining experience for us. Highly recommend!

Welcoming location. Indoor seating only.

Miss the garden patio of the previous location but the present one is spacious and comfortable. We had Sunday brunch. The oysters were delicious, bits of shell unfortunately. The clam chowder was on the lighter side, more corn starchy than creamy, not the best. The beet salad was better though not particular generous. The burger and fries were the best item we tried. Service is warm, friendly and efficient. Would come back for the lunch menu during the week. The brunch menu leans heavily on eggs.

Waiting seating area.
Jaime C.

While visiting Point Reyes we came across this cute breakfast place. There was only about a five minute wait on a Sunday morning at 11 AM. We were seated at a four top. The ambience in the restaurant is modern sophisticated. Our server suggested we get our order in quickly as a table of 12 was just seated. We were very glad of her recommendation and our food was delivered in about 15 minutes. Everything was very tasty. Service is great on ambiance was amazing I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in town.

We had a 7:45pm dinner reservation and arrived on time, only to find no one at the host stand. After waiting about 10 minutes, someone finally came and seated us around 7:55. Water was poured, and then nothing. No server ever came to our table. After sitting there for 30 minutes without anyone taking our order or even checking in, we left at 8:25. Really disappointing, because the food actually looked good. We were staying nearby and decided to give it another shot the next morning for breakfast, which was included with our hotel stay. Unfortunately, it was more of the same. We arrived around 9am, again no one at the host stand. We eventually flagged down a waitress, who rudely told us to just seat ourselves. After sitting down, we waited another 20 minutes and still no one came to take our order. We left again without eating. The front of house operation here is a complete mess. It feels like there is no system at all, no coordination, no accountability, and no awareness of guests. At one point, I overheard staff saying things like "let's just say this one has no milk in it" and "let's just say this one is sunny side up," which made it clear they did not even know where dishes were supposed to go and were just guessing. Even more telling, barely anyone in the restaurant was actually eating, and most people looked as confused and frustrated as we were. Honestly, the owner and staff should be embarrassed by how poorly this place is being run. I have never seen such a complete breakdown in service, especially two days in a row. Huge disappointment.

The service, on the other hand, was as adequate but flavored with a heavy dose of grumpy, broken wait staff. More than one hostess/waitress seemed almost resentful that we were there. Not my idea of a special night out. Just because you can afford to take your sweetheart out to a nice dinner doesn't mean you're a jerk and deserve to be scowled at. This can happen when you try and do really good food in a rural area and the workforce just isn't up to the challenge. Too bad. Sometimes you can train people to be gracious and inviting and to care about their jobs but sometimes people are just too broken and there's nobody else to choose from.

We had a tasty lunch with raw oysters and a jalapeño mignonette sauce, smoked trout dip, and a bowl of the chowder. The smoked trout dip was pretty good with the chip and pickled onion (my least favorite dish). The raw oysters with the mignonette sauce were fantastic...we went for two rounds! My favorite chowder in Bodega Bay was Spud's, but I think this one knocked it out. I enjoyed the smoky flavor to it! Our kids aren't seafood fans so I really appreciated their kids menu that had butter & cheese pasta. Their Bloody Mary was solid as well! The following day, we had the Wedge Salad and calamari along with a bowl of chowder. The salad was crisp and the combination of ingredients was perfect with all the textures and flavors of the bacon, cherry tomatoes, shoe string onion rings, and blue cheese dressing...the best wedge salad I've ever had! I loved the lightness of the calamari batter as well! This is a nicely decorated and clean restaurant. It was romantic with the view of the bay. I felt the customer service was a little off, but eventually our servers were nicer as both lunches went on. There was a Hispanic man that was very friendly and kept our water filled. We enjoyed talking to him. The customers sure were friendly with lots of smiles towards our kids. This is my favorite Bodega Bay restaurant. I look forward to bringing family and friends.

Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.)
