    My partner and I were surprised and delighted by the spectacular cuisine, service, and views offered by Mable's. What a treat! The menus for dinner and brunch were innovative, drawing on fresh local food sources, perfectly executed by the talented chef. Technically, Mable's is named after M-A-B-L ,which stands for Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer, a regional feature. To us, Mable's means T-A-S-T-Y. Bravo and thanks, we'll be back!

    What a pleasant surprise. I read Yelp reviews and didn't know what to expect, Mediterranean, tin fish, What? But one thing I will clarify is the drive to the restaurant is on a hill but it is completely paved & well maintained. They were having a 1 year anniversary and live music as well. And it was an unusual warm fall day and beautiful west Marin was the perfect place to spend it. So off we go on the twisty road to west Marin. Once we arrived the location is part of a state park with a lodge nearby and wonderful trails to hike which we did prior to heading in Mables. The backside of the restaurant didn't impress us but once we walked up the stairs to the patio we were taken aback, the place is woodsy, lots of community tables and private tables, the inside is simple yet well designed. They also have a small wine tasting bar at the entrance. There was a lot to take in, it felt like being in a large tree house. Now the food, so delicious and well executed. I had the chowder it wasn't the typical thick stuff this had a consommé consistency it was delicious, The butter added a creaminess to it. I also ordered an Autumn Chicory Salad, it had endive, escarole, pomegranate, hazelnuts & blue cheese it was divine. The Foccacia Bread was rustic, & had a nice crispiness to it. The Braised Short Rib on a bed of whipped potatoes carrots with pistachio honey was a winner too. And that was just the Happy Hour menu. Well hats off to the Chef, very impressive. Service was attentive. As we drove to Mables we passed by all the seaside restaurants which I've been to many a times but Mables is a must not only for the cuisine but the ability to take a hike in as well.

    What a special place! Truly locally sourced ingredients, excellent preparation, friendly staff and a beautiful location. I very much enjoyed the sourdough focaccia and the trout catch of the day.

    The Mrs. and I dined at Mable's tonight. We were staying at the Lodge at Marconi and it was nice to have a dining option in Marshall that didn't shut down at 4. We began our Mable's experience earlier in the day. The Mrs. read that the bar opened at 4 so we trekked up the hill from our room. We actually arrived a before 4 and were greeted by Jessica. We asked if we could sit outside even though the restaurant wasn't opened yet. She let us know that the kitchen didn't open until 4, which was no biggie. We wanted to indulge in an adult beverage. I ordered my usual Maker's Mark Manhattan. The Mrs. Ordered a gin martini. Jessica said they didn't have Bombay Sapphire so she provided an alternative which was very good. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name. Jessica actually made both of our drinks and I have to say that she makes a really, really good Maker's Mark Manhattan. One of the best that I've had. We left Mable's for a few hours then returned shortly before 7 which was our reservation time. Jessica let us pick where we wanted to sit so we parked ourselves at a corner table. We weren't alone in our Mable's experience this evening. Looking at Mable's menu it is clear to see that there is a strong Mediterranean influence. Which, frankly, doesn't fit into the culinary landscape of Marshall, California but I think it will in the very near future. The Mrs. and I decided to go big so we ordered the Mable's experience which is described on the menu as "sit back, relax, and let us cover your table, like a fog, with an array of cold appetizers to start your meal off right". I honestly think describing the Mable's experience as a fog is an understatement. I would say it covers the table like a tidal wave of delectable delight. For $35 per person(full table participation required) you get a meal that is so much more than an array of cold appetizers. Pickled vegetables, canned smoked trout, hummus, and quinoa salad were just a few of the amazing offerings. The two standout offerings were the canned smoked trout and the watermelon Kimchi salad. I'm not a fan of smoked trout but Mable's was incredible. It wasn't overly fishy like the I've had in the past. It was just clean and flavorful. The watermelon Kimchi salad could have easily been made into a cold soup and I'd eat it. Aside from the smoked trout and watermelon Kimchi, there was an array pickled vegetables and salads. One item we added were the grilled Kafta meatballs which were incredible. They were so fragrant and flavorful. The Mrs. and I did a deep dive on the food and presentation while we dined. We definitely agree that the Mable's experience was like a Mezze platter with Asian influence in flavors and the presentation reminded us of the accompaniments you get when you have Korean Bbq. For dessert we ordered the apple crisp(which was incredible) that was personally delivered by Chef who took the time to discuss our meal. The Mrs. and I shared our thoughts and he shared his as well as the philosophy behind the food at Mable's. Sustainability seems to be a big part of the philosophy. It was an incredible discussion that I did not expect to have. I've never been to a restaurant where Chef came out of the kitchen to serve food AND discuss said food with me. Chef further discussed the concept of serving tinned fish. There is a whole section on the menu that address it. I'm personally not a fan of tinned fish but I can understand that concept of serving it. It is kind of like a choose your own adventure scenario. Just because fish is served in a can doesn't mean it's an inferior product. Jessica did an incredible job at taking care of us. Mable's has only been opened a little over a week at this point and to have the level of service that Jessica provides this early on is so good for Mable's image. Hopefully, Mable's will be able to hire more Jessicas. Mable's sits at the top of a hill in the Marconi State Park. I suggest if you're staying at the lodge you drive up the hill to Mable's. The hill is a lot steeper than it looks. Looking at Mable's from the outside you'd think it was built from shipping containers. There is a large deck with tables and chairs. The inside of the restaurant is decorated in what I guess could be called contemporary. My only complaint is I think the lighting could be a bit dimmer. Each table has an electric candle on it so why not dim the lights and make them pop. Also, and probably my most important observation is that I don't recall seeing anything advertising Mable's on Highway 1. Even pulling into the park I don't recall seeing anything. Once inside the park there are a few small signs directing you to the restaurant but they seem to easily get lost amongst the scenery. If you're looking for incredible food, service, and a late evening dining alternative, check out Mable's.

    Picanha and a Pilsner (and my wife)

    This spot is unmissable for anyone seeking a fine yet uniquely comfortable dining vibe. We came for brunch on a whim and went for the poached egg asparagus salad with smoked trout and the breakfast sando, zomgosh, both were incredible. The focaccia on the sando was str8^ gang busters. And get the spicy sauce, the Fresno chili stuff, remarkably good too, I ate it all. Also, we ordered the lemon pound cake to pack it all down with a full French press. The manager Caitlin was super friendly and gave us some cool recs on how to spend our afternoon, that proved lovely. It was so good we returned for desserts the next night, but ended up ordering the steak as well. Perfectly cooked, with fresh spring onions and this crazy almond goodness as a spread. Finished with a crisp Pilsner and some lemongrass and candied turmeric ice cream. Get outta town delicious, and our server Mari couldn't have been sweeter. We'll be back.

    What can I say? EAT AT MABLE'S!! This was a wonderful dining experience. We sat outside on a couch on the deck with our dog, wonderful views, a heat lamp, and the best food & service (thanks Jackie!!) So lovely to have such an excellent restaurant right here at the Marconi Lodge (where we are staying). We shared the their baked sourdough focaccia, a (special) leek dip with a side of organic raw veggies, the kofta meatballs, and the grilled broccoli. I couldn't possibly tell you what I liked the best, because they were ALL delicious! And the red house wine (with a generous pour) complemented all the dishes. We topped it all off with a mouth watering Meyer Lemon cheesecake slice. Definitely coming back here!!

The sauce tasted like a wine reduction, and it definitely felt heavy. The tiny onions and greens were a nice touch, wish there was a side of mashed potatoes but great regardless. We just felt like she was rushing us and wanted us out. We maybe were there for 20 minutes. Didn't stick around for dinner or another round of drinks. Everyone in the party had worked in hospitality and the industry and we were quite appalled by the lack of service and the attitude sent our way. Needless to say where we would have done a bigger tip cause we know it was a smaller check due to our orders, we declined and matched the tip to match the service. The bread pudding was good, but I don't know if we will come back to discover the rest of the menu.

The bar area that one enters first had no patrons despite a table of dirty dishes remaining. When we announced we'd like to stay for lunch we were asked to wait while a table in the dining room was cleared. That's exactly what was cleared: one table in the dining room. There were two other tables of customers in the dining room and now a single clean table. Every other customer-free table in that room was stacked with dirty dishes left by previous customers. This wasn't just unappetizing. It was disgusting and we opted not to stay for lunch. I'm hoping this was some sort of aberrant situation as opposed to standard operating procedure. C'mon Rocker's Roadhouse, get your act together.

It was quiet at the wine bar when we were there, but I imagine it's livelier when they have live music going on. Their back patio area connects to Cafe Aquatica's, so we enjoyed the music coming from there. Staff were super friendly and kind, telling us about the smaller production, local wines they offer. I enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc while soaking in some sunshine and river views. Friendly dogs on leash are welcomed! Cheers Friends!

The greens brightened up an otherwise heavy dish. Linguine di Mare - very tasty. Pasta was well cooked and seafood was fresh and not overcooked. The accompanying toast (from local bakery/cafe Della Fattoria) was crispy and chewy and sopped up the cream sauce well. And that cream sauce. Absolutely amazing. Wish I had more of the toast to get all of that delicious sauce. Service - we did not have reservations but were seated quickly upon arrival. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The vibe is effortlessly chill, with whimsical decor--think antique lamps, an old record player, and lots of little details that make you want to look around. The whole place felt alive in the best way--buzzing with conversation, laughter, and people clearly having a great time. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out with seats at the community table. Bonus: the other guests were super welcoming, which just added to the fun, communal feel. We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.
