I came to Dillon Beach for a much needed respite. This place is down the hill from where I'm staying and it's an absolute gem. Outdoor seating has plenty of sun and also umbrellas if you don't want exposure. Has a clear wide view of the ocean. It's so calming and peaceful. I came during off hours and loved how quiet it was. The clam chowder was the best one I've ever had. Plenty of clam and even had two clam shells in it. The piece of bread is their house made focaccia and it's incredible. So crispy but also soft. I love driving out to Dillon Beach and having lunch here. The food is pretty good albeit a lot of it seems deep fried. The place has a beachy ambiance that fits perfectly. The prices are relatively fair except for a GOUGING ALERT: $32 for a half dozen oysters that come from...well, over there. Outrageous price for a local staple of restaurants in the area. Dillon Beach Coastal Kitchen is the one real dining establishment in this part of town and it's a good one. We managed to scoop in right before closing - they close early - 7:00PM. The menu is straightforward and very coastal forward. I ordered the Baja fish tacos ($20). The beer battered rock cod comes topped with smashed avocado, cabbage, cilantro-lime crema + salsa verde. The rock cod was exceptionally good - it's meaty and flakey. The toppings were mild and the perfect complement to the fish. Apparently, the Dillon Beach Burger ($23) is famous and honestly, it's pretty good. It comes with fancy meat - Stemple Creek beef - sauce, lettuce, cheese, dill pickles + fries. I think I added Monterey Jack cheese (+3). This tasted like an elevated backyard burger in the best way possible. Delish. We had a really nice dinner experience. Even though we did come around 6:30, we in no way felt rushed to order or to eat quickly. Service was attentive and excellent. Ten out of ten. read more

Decided to go have a snack before heading back from our walk. We had the clam chowder and fries. The french fries were very good and cooked to perfection. The clam chowder was a very good as well. It had lots of clams in it and had a very good taste. The only thing I recommend was for the chowder to be a little hotter. For it was kinda just lukewarm They have inside and outside seating and you do have to order at the counter before being seated. I've been to the coastal kitchen a handful of times and they always have delicious hot plates as well as drinks. I also love their ice cream/soft serve they have! They have an adorable little marketplace that's attached with their own retail items as well as any sunscreen or sand equipment you might need! Every employee I've seen has been very welcoming and helpful and they seem to love working there as well. I've actually heard them singing as they're restocking and I think it's cute. They feel so at home while at work. I honestly love this little beach community and like how clean and respectful everybody seems to be on the beach itself! Family and I are here for lunch yesterday and while we liked the location, vibe and food, the cost just doesn't justify what you get. We had four sandwiches with fries and 3 sodas and it came to over $120 which was a little shocking honestly.. it feels they are just charging more because they have the only restaurant in the area.. The whole vibe of the resort is awesome, it's super cute but in our opinion, priced a little too high for a small menu with not an inventiveness. I actually wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The pickles were spicier than I was expecting but I managed to deal with heat. The sandwich came with a salad of mixed greens (plus arugula - yum) and was topped with a light vinegar based dressing. Both were very good. The young guy at the register was very friendly. Well, I sure was thankful for this place on Saturday. After stopping by at the pizza place in Tomales and finding out they had run out of food, I seemed to have very few options. Luckily, we had stayed in Dillon Beach before and remembered there was a restaurant here ( although it was closed last time). So we came on down and checked out this location. Anyone who's been to Dillon Beach knows parking is a bit difficult to find and this place is no exception. However, the place is beautiful, the service is pretty good for a walk up type of location, and the food is delicious. Very happy with my burger and fries- I'm sure we will be back. read more

I bought the $10 metal tin of chowder. They should definitely show the size before you purchase. It's super small and barely filled 3/4 . This is definitely toddler size. It came with a thin slice of fried bread. There was more vegetables than anything else swimming around the light chower sauce. The only thing I'm sad about after my first visit here is that I didn't find this place sooner! Such a cute little beach restaurant with an amazing view and they are very dog and child friendly. I mean what else could you want? Oh yeah the food was great too! I went here with my family for my birthday lunch well actually we went to the beach and I wanted clam chowder after that. I yelped clam chowder from Dillon beach and it said this place was like right there. Dillon is my favorite local beach so I was shocked I just now found this spot now. I will definitely be back and soon. The service was fast and friendly also patient with our not so well behaved dogs ‍ They literally barked at her when she brought us the food. So shameful but she didn't seem bothered at all. Like I said they were very dog friendly with dog water bowls all over the patio area and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Yes we live right by the Dillon Beach Resort but we hadn't been to Coastal kitchen in a long while but our friends insisted that it was seriously good. We walked in and really loved the sunny and beach space. We grabbed a table and ordered at the service station. The happy hour special (3-5) was for three rock cod fish tacos and a beer. We also ordered ish and chips. The drinks came out promptly with the henhouse beer ruling the roost. The fish tacos were beautiful with a large chunk of fish, fresh shredded cabbage and a soft tortilla. The real kicker was their incredible house made hot sauce. A grilled fish option would have been nice. The fish a chips were super fresh and hot with a light batter that realized complimented the fish. We shared a small clam chowder, a 10! Chunks of potato, cooked just right, medium/ thin consistency, yummy clams with a couple in the shell, seasoned & flavorful! This is a sweet spot and I'm so glad it exists. We checked it out last year with some family and decided to go back again today after a lovely paddle around Lawson's Landing. Last time we got the chowder and knew it was amazing so it happened again today and it didn't disappoint. Incredibly flavor forward. Well seasoned overall with all the food. Chowder is slightly thin but I didn't mind because that meant it wasn't super heavy. Small chopped bacon sprinkled on top, so if Pescatarian then advise to skip this. We also shared the fish 'n chips and fresh salad. Literally everything was delicious. Batter on the fish was a little thick but as long as it's fried well it is delicious. My guy's piece was perfect, mine was slightly under but flavor was so good it didn't take anything away. Fries were shoestring and crispy - perfection! Salad was fresh and delicious! Our salad had chunks of watermelon, coijta cheese, corn, thin sliced red onion, and a honey vinaigrette. Slightly sweet but deliciously delectable. New murals outside as you walk in. Some painting accents inside - super cute spot with really beautiful artsy touches throughout. A bit pricey but reasonable for the location. Friendly service and nice clean accessible bathroom (albeit a tight hallway to get to bathroom) * clam chowder: a lighter version and less thick. Plenty of clams, including some small whole clams (no shell). Found a few chunks of whitefish at the end. Good flavor, nice chive garnish. 2-3 slices of baguette on side to dip. A bit pricey at $15 but it was tasty. * friend got veggie burger (appreciated that the staff knew what it was made of - no beans or mushrooms in it) which came in toasted brioche and a nicely dressed side salad * other friend got a seasonal salad with chicken breast. First of all, the view! This place offers little to no parking so you have to time your visit just right. But once you're there, it's so wonderful! Fish and chips offered big chunks of meat, and the fries were cooked perfectly! The happy hour special of three tacos and a beer was the best deal of all- $20 for a gourmet tray of fresh seafood. The beers are all local options. The tacos had a layer of pickled veggies underneath the fish for a fun surprise. Dogs are welcome on the patio. The location can't be beat. Sitting on the porch, looking out at the ocean, you feel the majesty of the Sonoma Coast. The restaurant is super cute and located next to the equally cute general store. Really good food, too. We tried the fried chicken sandwich, autumn salad, clam chowder. The chicken sandwich is made with a thick, juicy breast which is the perfect contrast with the crispy coating. This makes it less greasy than some other friend chicken sandwiches I've had (made with thighs). The salad dressing is light and well-seasoned, and I appreciate that the lettuce definitely didn't come from a bag. That said, the prices seem a bit steep. I wanted to try the ahi tuna plate, but it was $25 for what was described as "a large appetizer." Everything is a few bucks more expensive than equally good restaurants without this gorgeous view.
