Dropped in for the oyster tasting and the happy hour "baked tequila oyster" and oh my, is this to die for. Give the baked oysters a try

Stopped here twice during our stay in Bodega Bay. During our first stop, we got a dozen unshucked Kumamoto oysters and today got 50 to take home. They sell accoutrements in cute little glass jars for $5, as well as branded merch and gifts. Service was quick on both visits. The oysters were given to us in plastic bags and on ice; they were easy to shuck and super fresh.

Brought my parents here and they enjoyed the oysters with my husband and I. They don't have the Japanese BBQ oysters which I enjoyed, so I got the baked Rockefeller and roasted garlic lemon butter, both very good. Definitely a must stop along the way to the coast. Very clean restaurant and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Visited on a Tuesday and unfortunately the restaurant section was closed due to staffing shortage, but the woman working at the counter was very nice and even shucked the oysters we ordered while being the only person working!! Great customer service!! It was a sunny day, so we sat outside in the sun. They have many picnic tables with shade options as well. We ordered 1/2 dozen extra small Miyagi and 1/2 dozen Belon. Both were clearly very fresh and tasted good, but the Belon were the best oysters we have had in a while!! They come with 2 sauces, hot sauce and seasonal mignonette. You can order "to-go" and shuck them at home which is slightly cheaper and a nice experience!

If you want fresh oysters , this is the place to come to. If you want stale, raggedy smelly oysters for $1.25 each , go to a dingy grocery store freezer lol You get what you pay for. We enjoyed our oysters, grilled to perfection, not over cooked and sooo fresh! We weren't expecting outstanding service. It's a place you order your food, you get a number, and they bring you your food. As the terminator once said: I'll be back!!!! Go try them, and expect to pay for the quality!!

Stopped here on the way to our friend's home in Bodega Bay where the owners always stop by when they are in the mood for purchasing oysters. This retail and wine tasting location provided us with our purchase of 50 Kumamotos and 12 large oysters for grilling. Shucking all of them when we got home was a team effort for all which ended up being a lot of fun. They have all the condiments one needs for your oysters from spices, hot sauces, etc. as well as retail logo merchandise. The store has a separate area where you can purchase wine and also seating should you decide to taste wines that are available.

I've tried crab cakes from all over east and west coast and these by far was the best dungeons crab quite delicious. Lightly pan fried. Not deep fried and greasy. The place is very clean in the back . My only complaint was the menu was quite limited. Nice quiet and romantic atmosphere.

this is my second time here and it is still my favorite place for oysters, we came this time for a birthday party and it was ended up be the best plan, the place is huge they have a lot of tables outside to accommodate large parties, they even provide us with trash cans, and some other tools for the oysters, they do have indoor sitting in case you need it, also we try a few things from their menu and the clam chowder and tuna sandwich were delicious, drinks also were yum, they have siders and cab wine also very good. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

California Miyaki, Kumamoto, Atlantic, and Belon oysters were all very fresh, tasty and unique in their own ways. Will definitely spend a bit more to buy Belon next time. The oysters are very meaty and clean after we clean, shack and rinse with salt water. The staff was very friendly. We asked quite a lot of questions with th different types and she patiently answered us. She knows her oysters. Will definitely come back to try the clams and mussels. They were sold out. Was onw the way from Bodega Bay. Was going to drive to Marshall to our regular place at Tomales Bay Oyster Company. Stabled upon Bodega Bay Oyster and stopped. What a pleasant surprise. Nice little store, very clean, organized and bright.

We went there August 16th. The cashier that took our order has an attitude. She was on her phone texting for few minutes while we were standing in front of her. Ignored our questions and follow up questions on the type of oysters we had. We ordered one dozen of each type. The Miyagi oyster isn't worth it. The Olympia is the best bet.

Great stop on the way back to the city after a long day of hiking! Right when you get in, you're invited into a cute souvenir store and the counter to order your food. We arrived around 2PM on a Saturday, and we were surprised that a couple of things had already sold out. We ordered for dine-in, although you can order oysters to-go with a shucking set to shuck your own oysters. We had small miyagi, Kumamoto, and Olympia oysters, as well as the Japanese bbq and I think the lemon butter grilled oysters. We also got some garlic bread and shrimp tacos to share. The oysters were delicious and very refreshing. I enjoyed the Kumamotos and miyagis the most, as well as the Japanese bbq grilled oysters. I was a bit sad that they were sold out of the chowder though. ):

Came for Oysters and got what we wanted. Always fresh and tasty. You can even eat them there once you order (eat outside). Make sure you bring your own tools, towels and accompaniments. Can't speak to ambiance bc we didn't stay long enough. Everyone was nice and helpful.

Ask the Community - Bodega Bay Oyster

Can we bring our own mini grill and outside food to the picnic tables outside?

Hi Savanna! Yes, you can bring your own mini grill and outside food. However, no outside alcohol is allowed.

Can we grill our own chickens/steak at the bbq area??thank you

I don't think they allow people to use the grills. The staff grills the oysters here

    Are dogs allowed?

We allow dogs in the picnic area as long as they are leashed.

Thinking of coming by for lunch today are your workers in a good mood?

When I visited the workers were in a great mood. They were friendly and showed me how to shuck an oyster with an oyster shucker since I was struggling with a butter knife.

I think this was the only place in the Bodega Bay area. Not sure why that is. Anyway, the oysters were 5 stars for my mom. They came with a dipping sauce. I think it was the garlic aioli. I ordered the chicken sandwich special that comes with chipotle aioli. I traded that for the garlic aioli. It was loaded with thin slices of chicken breast. I'm not sure what type of bread they used, but it was perfect for the sandwich. When we first ordered, it was Ash who took our order. He's so energetic and friendly. He is part of what makes this place special. They have an attention to detail and service that reminds of the Garden Cafe in San Rafael. That's what my boyfriend and I ordered, and were satisfied (not to mention fueled for our hike that afternoon). I agree with other reviews that say it's pricey for what you get, but you'll still have a satisfying meal. The crab sandwich is real fresh, I kinda wish they toasted the bread, but would still recommend it. It came with a few slices of carrot that seemed random IMO, but still ate it. Also, you can't go wrong with the fish and chips! Service was straight-forward - you order and pay at the counter, then take your number to seat where your food is delivered. Most people were sitting outside on the benches, which is where you wanna be, especially on a sunny day with a view of the water. But there are also chairs and tables inside. Parking can be tight around here. The lot outside the restaurant is very small, and the street/back parking signs can be confusing. (There were cars parking in zones clearly marked with "No Parking" signs.)

Freshness overload, plain and simple. Hog Island Oyster Co. delivers the kind of unpretentious excellence that makes you forget the daily grind You sit at rustic picnic tables overlooking the water, but what lands in front of you could rival any white-tablecloth restaurant in the city. Each oyster tastes like the ocean decided to tell you a secret--briny, bright, impossibly fresh. The BBQ oysters are smoky perfection, while the raw platter feels like a masterclass in minimalism. We decided in the chipotle grilled oysters and although I am always partial to raw this came close to changing my mind - it was rich buttery and spicy They don't have a real kitchen so no clam chowders - would have been nice since it was a chilly day. We also got the mussels escabeche and smokes albacore - delicious and subtly seasoned. We went on a Saturday and even though we came early working was a struggle - though worth it. The other challenge is the bathroom situation - not the cleanest A bit pricey but I guess for the quality and where it's at - it's worth it. Please make a reservation unless you don't mind waiting an hour, ALSO you will get turned away if there is no seating (several people after us got turned away). The hostess was very nice even though it was busy. He was very attentive and even took our order so we can get food even time for the kitchen closing instead of having us wait for a waiter. We ordered the cheeseboard, bourbon butter oysters, and the miso oysters. All were great, although I may skip the miso oysters next time to try some raw ones with their mignonette. Wine was also great. They had a really good selection. This would be a beautiful place to come during the summer since it's right off the water and just the drive there was so scenic. My favorite chowder in Bodega Bay was Spud's, but I think this one knocked it out. I enjoyed the smoky flavor to it! Our kids aren't seafood fans so I really appreciated their kids menu that had butter & cheese pasta. Their Bloody Mary was solid as well! The following day, we had the Wedge Salad and calamari along with a bowl of chowder. The salad was crisp and the combination of ingredients was perfect with all the textures and flavors of the bacon, cherry tomatoes, shoe string onion rings, and blue cheese dressing...the best wedge salad I've ever had! I loved the lightness of the calamari batter as well! This is a nicely decorated and clean restaurant. It was romantic with the view of the bay. I felt the customer service was a little off, but eventually our servers were nicer as both lunches went on. There was a Hispanic man that was very friendly and kept our water filled.
