    HIOC Clam Chowder

Very disappointing chowder. Nowhere warning of whole shell clams in thin, watery broth. Not even a quarter of a potato. Ruined my day. Get the fish tacos or stick to oysters. Skip this lame and sad clam "soup"

The oysters were the highlight of the meal! We had a round of the sweet waters then a round of a mixed local tray. I had the Caesar sala which was filling and my boyfriend had the clam chowder that I was able to try. Definitely worth it because it was filled with clams! We were seated pretty quickly for a party of 5. Our server was really fun and sweet, didn't get her name but would definitely come again.

Delicious food and super fresh oysters with top notch service and bay views. The ambiance is pleasant and beautifully designed with oysters embedded in the counter tops, nautical lighting, and wood floors. Wait staff were super friendly and helpful.

Gorgeous views and an awesome menu! We arrived in time to have the happy hour oysters, which were a great deal. My husband isn't the biggest fan of seafood but even he was blown away by the fish and chips. I had the clam pasta, which I devoured with joy. Views are amazing and the service was great too.

This little seafood gem is just off the highway and on the water literally! It has the appearance of casual dining but on the water with the sun sparkling on the water winking through the bay glass. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I am sure they can get busy and if you have cell service IF call ahead for a table. They close at 730pm so plan your time wisely. We had a group. We were quickly seated for lunch. Most of us ordered fhe clam chowder bowl. I grew up with eating fresh seafood and clam chowder was a regular monthly item in our house. Ours was creamy and thick with lots of clams so delish! But clam chowder took the prize the cream broth was thin but thick with flavor the clams in the shell were like a small pile of goodness. It's hard to find clam chowder that is so full of clams! Hands down the best clam chowder! I hope to make the trek back sometime soon.

The food and service was very good, not the absolute best, but VERY good. We arrived at 11:30am on a sunny Thursday in mid April. Tony's is the place for Fresh Oysters. Whether they are grilled or 'on the half-shell', you will have a choice of a variety of super fresh oysters from right there in Tomales Bay to from up in WA and OR and even the East Coast. The real superstar at Tony's was a combination of the view and simple joy that came from having a table on a patio overhanging the water's edge. Don't drive out here because you are hungry, even though the food is pretty darn good. Come here because you want to watch your worries and all the rest, float away with the tide and a few oysters would also really hit the spot!

Outside at the high tops on a gorgeous day with a great view.

A wonderful lunch stop on the way to the coast. They take reservations but we didn't have any but got there early enough to get a nice spot outside. Loved the menu and all their oyster options- sister restaurant to Hog Island. Our server was very helpful and friendly. They had Kumamoto oysters on the half shell and they were fabulous. Best I ever had and not tiny as they can often be. Oyster po boy was delicious and loved the lingcod tacos and their corn chipotle salsa. Great homemade iced tea and a nice beer and wine selection too. Didn't have room for dessert. Hope we will pass this way again to enjoy this place!

Came in for lunch on Veteran's day and we were told 40 minute wait for 2 people. Checked in after 30 minutes and we were seated within the next 5! So estimated wait tomes are accurate and all the workers were nice. Restaurant itself is right along the water so you get a nice view with your meal, though I had 2 nice views. We came to try to fried oyster po boy and thought the fish tacos sounded good as well. The fish tacos could've used a little more seasoning and flavor. Fried oyster, didn't know what to expect, but didn't disappoint at all. Glad we got to try it for the first time and would recommend getting it if you haven't had before!

Seriously great seafood here. The clam chowder is a lighter version and not thick like other places, with a ton of clams. The fish and chips was easily top 3 fish and chips I've had in my lifetime. The batter was crisp and crunchy and big pieces of fish perfectly fried. The clam linguini was surprisingly light and tasty, as well as their seafood stew, which came with some of the best bread slices I've had in the Point Reyes area. I think they get their bread from Brickmaiden which is another favorite of mine. If you have the time and you're in the area, you really can't go wrong with Tony's. Can't wait to come back!

The view and vibes at this restaurant were amazing! You're right on the water . The oysters were fresh , juicy and delicious. The clam chowder exceeded our expectations. The service was quick, responsive and kind. Just be mindful because of the location, the parking can be a bit tricky . Would definitely come back!! Everything was awesome

Beautiful bay-side views with very fresh seafood to enjoy! The fish and mussels that we got was very fresh and the mussel soup/cioppino delicious and flavourful. We got a variety of oysters, and they were more hit-or-miss. Some were amazing, but others were more so-so.

When a road trip kicks off with good friends (Robin & Kathryn), you know you're in for a great time--especially when they bring their A-game. Heading west off Highway 101 toward the Pacific from Rohnert Park, CA is a drive that sets the mood for a special lunch. Rolling green hills, dairy cows, sheep, the occasional skunk roadkill (RIP), and the refreshing scent of eucalyptus all add to the experience. Sure, there's a winding road or two, but nothing a little fresh air and determination can't handle. Arriving at Tony's Seafood by Hog Island Oyster Co. feels like stepping into a black-and-white movie scene--one of those classic seaside joints that looks like it might tumble into the bay at any moment. Don't worry, though--Tony's is standing strong (photos and video attached for reassurance). The vibe? Laid-back and lively. The staff? Clearly having fun. Our server commutes 40 minutes each way from Santa Rosa--now that's dedication. And the kitchen? Pure magic. They hustle like a well-oiled machine, especially when the noon crowd rolls in. Now, let's talk about the real reason we're here: the food. Get your oyster-loving taste buds ready because Tony's has mastered the art of shellfish (and beyond). We kicked things off with Hog Island Sweet Waters, followed by fried oyster lettuce wraps (crispy perfection) and fish & chips with fries and pickled veggies. Our friends split the Rustic Seafood Stew, which must have been phenomenal because the moment it hit the table, they disappeared--faces buried in bowls until not a single drop of sauce remained. If you're looking for a fun afternoon adventure with top-notch seafood, friendly energy, and a scenic drive, Tony's is the spot. From crab to halibut to chowder, they've got it all--plus a staff that keeps the good vibes rolling. Been there? Let me know what you think!

What's the average wait time for no reservation on the weekend (outside seating)?

Hi Maddie, thanks for your question. The wait time can really vary, depending on weather, time of day, and what size party. outside waits can be 2 hours or more, but are usually closer to 30 minutes. Smaller groups are easier to accommodate and… Read more

What is the parking situation? Easy to find or we will have to drive around?

Hi, it really depends on when you arrive. We have parking, but on busy days you may have to walk a bit. Thanks for checking in

Summer hours on a Saturday are 11:30am-7:30pm. Does the kitchen close earlier?

Are pets allowed in the outside seating?

Yes!! We brought our two grandpups - it was cold, but at least they were able to sit with us. (No pets indoor)

Do you have a dock for customer's arriving by boat?

Unfortunately the dock behind Tony’s is not open to the public. You can dock closer to the Marconi Center further south but then there’s a bit of a walk, but it’s not too bad.

Can you request outdoor seating in your reservation? We made one but it was for general seating and we aren't sure what that means?

Yes you can. You can either make a note on Resy or leave them a voicemail telling them where you would like to sit - inside or outside. General seating means any table, anywhere.

Are dogs allowed in the patio?

Yes! Tony's is pet friendly and even had a water bowls for doggies available.

Is there a Corkage fee at Tony's seafood?

Good evening. The corkage is $20, if you buy a bottle from Tony’s the corkage is waived. Have a great night!

The view is beautiful when the sunset hits the water and has a really nice scenery to take pictures. I definitely recommend the raw over the grilled. Some of the sauces can be overpowering which you can't control. The melted Brie cheese is so good on toasted bread. The smoked salmon was ok. The seaside views are pretty, the clam chowder is creamy, and the shrimp po boy ($22) on a cheese jalapeño roll with pickled toppings is a solid order. They have a self service mini-frig with beer, half bottles of champagne, mini Frog's Leap Sauvignon Blanc and sodas. Our oysters Rockefeller somehow got lost on the counter for 30 minutes before staff found it, and comped the dish to us. We ate them and I unfortunately regretted it. They tasted good in the moment, but they led to nausea and an upset stomach. Super friendly staff, harbor and bay views, and fresh cut flowers slightly smoothed some of the rough edges. I probably should have known better than to eat cooked oysters that had cooled. Overall, a 2-3 out of 5.

Freshness overload, plain and simple. Hog Island Oyster Co. delivers the kind of unpretentious excellence that makes you forget the daily grind You sit at rustic picnic tables overlooking the water, but what lands in front of you could rival any white-tablecloth restaurant in the city. Each oyster tastes like the ocean decided to tell you a secret--briny, bright, impossibly fresh. The BBQ oysters are smoky perfection, while the raw platter feels like a masterclass in minimalism. We decided in the chipotle grilled oysters and although I am always partial to raw this came close to changing my mind - it was rich buttery and spicy They don't have a real kitchen so no clam chowders - would have been nice since it was a chilly day. We also got the mussels escabeche and smokes albacore - delicious and subtly seasoned. We went on a Saturday and even though we came early working was a struggle - though worth it. The other challenge is the bathroom situation - not the cleanest A bit pricey but I guess for the quality and where it's at - it's worth it. Please make a reservation unless you don't mind waiting an hour, ALSO you will get turned away if there is no seating (several people after us got turned away). During our wait, we walked the grounds, explored their general store and sat and talked which was great because there is no service in the area, it gives a chance for people to connect. The hostess was very nice even though it was busy. He was very attentive and even took our order so we can get food even time for the kitchen closing instead of having us wait for a waiter. We ordered the cheeseboard, bourbon butter oysters, and the miso oysters. All were great, although I may skip the miso oysters next time to try some raw ones with their mignonette. Wine was also great. They had a really good selection. This would be a beautiful place to come during the summer since it's right off the water and just the drive there was so scenic. It can get busy there so we parked on the side of the road but from what I can see there is plenty of parking. Lastly, they sell oysters at the general store sooo if you don't want to wait if you didn't make reservations. There's a table right in front of the store and you can shuck away!
