It served up some of the freshest seafood and oysters around until 2017, when it closed due to the owners wanting to retire. Fortunately, nearby Hog Island Oyster Co. saw an opportunity to buy them out and keep this historic restaurant going for future generations. The gamble paid off, as Tony's was awarded Michelin Guide "Recommended" recognition in 2021 and every year thereafter. The Good: * Reservations via Resy * Outdoor seating * Great harbor views from any seat in the house * Fantastic service from "Kyle R." We started chatting about oysters, and when the subject of Carissa being a raw oyster virgin came up, he wasn't having any of that. He quickly brought us two complimentary raw oysters with escabeche sauce to try. Now that's customer service! * Local brews on tap, though not a huge selection. * Speaking of oysters, the grilled oysters with miso-nori butter were absolutely fantastic. So much umami flavor that I could've eaten a bucket of them. * The seafood stew (basically a cioppino) was absolutely packed with goodness and featured a rich, delicious tomato broth. The perfect dish for the cold, damp weather common here. * The buttermilk panna cotta dessert was absolutely fantastic. The custard was smooth and elegant, and I loved the added crunch of the granola and sweet pops of fruit from the fresh blackberries. Simple, but executed perfectly. The Meh: * Cell phone reception is spotty at best in this area, so make sure you set your navigation before you start driving over * Fish tacos were just OK. Probably not the thing to get here, but they were edible The Ugly: * Parking is kind of a shit show. There are a few spots in front of the restaurant, but you'll most likely have to park along the shoulder of the highway a bit farther down Conclusion: Tony's is one of those hidden gems that fits the description to a "T." If you're a lover of seafood, great service, and ocean views, this place is a must.
This is a must visit place for me when I am in the bat area. The oysters are what I come for, they are so good. We had the bar mix oysters 24, including the sweetwater, that is from local Tomales Bay, the Kumamoto and the Highwater from Humboldt Bay. We also ordered the grilled Lingcod collar, smoke oysters fish & chips and a Cesar salad. For dessert we had the penna cotta. All are super delicious. It took us more than 3 hours to drive there but totally worth the trip. Service is very good. Our server Michael was very attentive. Restaurant is along Highway 1, parking is right outside. Scenery is also right great.
Tens across the board!! My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary, and we were so impressed! This restaurant is located in Tomales Bay and away from the city. It's quiet, peaceful, and on the water. The drive here was beautiful and relaxing. We had a 2 PM reservation and were sat immediately. I highly recommend getting a reservation as there were many people waiting when we got there. Unfortunately there was a wait for outdoor tables, so we decided to sit indoor instead, but we did get a great window view! Parking was fairly easy, there are some parking spot directly in front, but if there isn't, you can parallel park by the water. There was no signal here, but they do offer guest "Guest" wifi with no password required. Now let's get to the food. We got the oyster bar mix, rustic seafood stew, HIOC clam chowder, and grilled tamari marinated lingcod collar. Every dish was so flavorful and delicious. We also got extra bread with no extra charge. The oysters were so fresh and paired well with their house hot sauce. The rustic seafood stew was loaded with seafood. The clam chowder was super creamy. For me, the main star was the lingcod collar. It was so tender and flavorful. I'm still thinking about it! Unfortunately, it is a special menu item and is not permanent. Service was great, our table was constantly getting prebussed and checked up on. This has now become one of our favorite restaurant and we will be back!
The food was 10/10. Sweet water oysters are one of my favorites to order anywhere I go so I knew those wouldn't disappoint. The Ceasar salad had a nice crunch with the perfect amount of dressing. The bucatini was the true star, it was so delicious I haven't stopped thinking about it. We also took a bottle of their house made hot sauce home! The restaurant itself was so cute, I loved the large windows to look out at the water. The service was very friendly. We will definitely be back when we're on the coast!
We couldn't get a reservation at the Hog Island Oyster Co.'s outdoor Boat Oyster Bar, so made a reservation here for their oysters. Tony's Seafood takes walk-ins, but it's best to make a reservation. We went on a Monday afternoon and there was a 30-40 minute wait without a reservation. Both indoor and outdoor tables are quite nice, with views of Tomales Bay. The atmosphere is chill, with many people here for just oysters and beer. I like their grilled oysters the best, especially with the chipotle bourbon butter, although the garlic butter and delicate squash butter toppings are delicious as well. We happened to catch sunset while we were dining, and it was beautiful!
Where do I even begin...an amazing setting with Tomales Bay as my background and happy hum of satisfied customers rolling through the patio, my family and I just enjoyed one of the most incredible meals I've ever had. We were treated to a Blue Fin Collar extravaganza; 25lb collar straight off the boat and into the talented hands of Chris, the head chef of Tony's. It was marinated in heavenly flavors and served with pickled carrots and an in incredible slaw this was hands down truly a mind blowing presentation. Coupled with excellent wine, ceaser salad, fish and chips, which are gluten free and still absolutely crushed it, as well as plates of oyster that filled us all with joy.
The oysters were the highlight of the meal! We had a round of the sweet waters then a round of a mixed local tray. I had the Caesar sala which was filling and my boyfriend had the clam chowder that I was able to try. Definitely worth it because it was filled with clams! We were seated pretty quickly for a party of 5. Our server was really fun and sweet, didn't get her name but would definitely come again.

Loved the menu and all their oyster options- sister restaurant to Hog Island. Our server was very helpful and friendly. They had Kumamoto oysters on the half shell and they were fabulous. Best I ever had and not tiny as they can often be. Oyster po boy was delicious and loved the lingcod tacos and their corn chipotle salsa. Great homemade iced tea and a nice beer and wine selection too. Didn't have room for dessert. Hope we will pass this way again to enjoy this place!

Before I write anything else, get the chipotle bourbon butter grilled oysters. Get dozens of them if you can. It's literally the best thing I've eaten this year so far. The vibe is cool, right on PCH so almost anywhere you sit you can see the bay. Parking is a little tough, they have a small strip of parking out front. We got lucky and grabbed a spot as someone left, but there were cars waiting around. Definitely make a reservation, especially on a weekend. The food was a 10/10. Service was okay, they were friendly but they didn't seem to check on any of the tables much in general, water cups sitting empty, etc. Still a 5-star experience for the food and the vibes. We got a half dozen of the Hog Island Highwater raw oysters and a half dozen of the chipotle bourbon butter grilled oysters. Oh my gosh. The Highwaters were great, but the grilled oysters were absolutely the star of the show - garlicky, buttery, massive oysters. My husband and I were literally fighting over scraps. Fish and chips were solid, nice crispy batter on the fish, and the grilled zucchini was great as well. I will absolutely be back. read more
Out for a drive taking in the local sites and enjoying the fresh air and wonderful views of the Tomales Bay. Wanting to try the local cuisine so we stopped in to Tony's, great spot on the water with wonderful views of the Bay we were seated inside in a simply decorated nautical style dining room. All the seating outside on the deck was taken by frankly the view from our counter seating was fantastic. Naomi was our server and she was friendly happy and full of spunk such a pleasure. We tried the Bloody Marys without Vodka and they were amazing, great house made mix and you could not tell that there was not a drop of Vodka in it. Great flavor and interestingly prepared. We enjoyed the local oysters fresh and very tasty followed by a bowl of the chowder, light broth not like the heavy stew type chowders you find. Butter and creamy broth with fresh clams and vegetables. Seasoned with herbs this chowder was a delizioso bowl of goodness. A must stop everytime we are around that area! Fresh shucked oyster , rustic seafood stew, pickled veggie , fish and chips and the special smoked abalone was fresh and delicious to our palate !!Sure the wait was quite a bit but the food came out piping hot so didn't mind the wait ! read more

Very disappointing chowder. Nowhere warning of whole shell clams in thin, watery broth. Not even a quarter of a potato. Ruined my day. Get the fish tacos or stick to oysters. Skip this lame and sad clam "soup" read more

Every single part of our dining experience at Tony's was wonderful! We were greeted by multiple hosts and waiters on our arrival followed by being seated right away. We had the most WONDERFUL server, Tracy, who went above and beyond to make our experience top notch. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, answered every question and dietary concern we had, and had the most wonderful attitude and even better conversation. Our experience was so wonderful and the food was so good, we went back the next day. Both indoor and outdoor seating are stunning! A wonderful laid back vibe with insanely good food! Be sure to pop in and give Tracy a hug for us if you're in the area - she will take excellent care of you! read more

Gorgeous views and an awesome menu! We arrived in time to have the happy hour oysters, which were a great deal. My husband isn't the biggest fan of seafood but even he was blown away by the fish and chips. I had the clam pasta, which I devoured with joy. Came in for lunch on Veteran's day and we were told 40 minute wait for 2 people. Checked in after 30 minutes and we were seated within the next 5! So estimated wait tomes are accurate and all the workers were nice. Restaurant itself is right along the water so you get a nice view with your meal, though I had 2 nice views. We came to try to fried oyster po boy and thought the fish tacos sounded good as well. The fish tacos could've used a little more seasoning and flavor. Fried oyster, didn't know what to expect, but didn't disappoint at all. Glad we got to try it for the first time and would recommend getting it if you haven't had before! read more
This little seafood gem is just off the highway and on the water literally! It has the appearance of casual dining but on the water with the sun sparkling on the water winking through the bay glass. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I am sure they can get busy and if you have cell service IF call ahead for a table. They close at 730pm so plan your time wisely. We had a group. We were quickly seated for lunch. Most of us ordered fhe clam chowder bowl. I grew up with eating fresh seafood and clam chowder was a regular monthly item in our house. Ours was creamy and thick with lots of clams so delish! But clam chowder took the prize the cream broth was thin but thick with flavor the clams in the shell were like a small pile of goodness. It's hard to find clam chowder that is so full of clams! Hands down the best clam chowder! I hope to make the trek back sometime soon. read more

The food and service was very good, not the absolute best, but VERY good. We arrived at 11:30am on a sunny Thursday in mid April. Tony's is the place for Fresh Oysters. Whether they are grilled or 'on the half-shell', you will have a choice of a variety of super fresh oysters from right there in Tomales Bay to from up in WA and OR and even the East Coast. The real superstar at Tony's was a combination of the view and simple joy that came from having a table on a patio overhanging the water's edge. Don't drive out here because you are hungry, even though the food is pretty darn good. Come here because you want to watch your worries and all the rest, float away with the tide and a few oysters would also really hit the spot! read more

The view and vibes at this restaurant were amazing! You're right on the water . The oysters were fresh , juicy and delicious. The clam chowder exceeded our expectations. Beautiful bay-side views with very fresh seafood to enjoy! The fish and mussels that we got was very fresh and the mussel soup/cioppino delicious and flavourful. We got a variety of oysters, and they were more hit-or-miss. Some were amazing, but others were more so-so. read more

This place obviously does not need my help when it comes to a good review but it blew away so I'm going to write one anyway! We drove about an hour and fifteen minutes from San Francisco and it might honestly be one of the most beautiful scenic drives in Northern California. Wow!! The restaurant is perfectly located on Marshall highway. You can't miss it as there are cars parked all along the side of the road. It is a casual restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating. We chose indoor just because I run a little on the cooler side but the sun was out and most preferred the porch. Service was quick, friendly and our waitress gave us great recommendations on oysters! You definitely need to try both the fresh and grilled oysters. They're incredible! My boyfriend got the fish tacos and inhaled them both. He said they were some of the best ones he's ever had. Big fish filets that were juicy! I got the half dungeons crab and it was so fresh I'm going to think about it forever. Price was fair for seafood and typical for NorCal! What is the parking situation? Easy to find or we will have to drive around?
Hi, it really depends on when you arrive. We have parking, but on busy days you may have to walk a bit. Thanks for checking in
Summer hours on a Saturday are 11:30am-7:30pm. Does the kitchen close earlier?
Are pets allowed in the outside seating?
Yes!! We brought our two grandpups - it was cold, but at least they were able to sit with us. (No pets indoor)
Do you have a dock for customer's arriving by boat?
Unfortunately the dock behind Tony’s is not open to the public. You can dock closer to the Marconi Center further south but then there’s a bit of a walk, but it’s not too bad.
Can you request outdoor seating in your reservation? We made one but it was for general seating and we aren't sure what that means?
Yes you can. You can either make a note on Resy or leave them a voicemail telling them where you would like to sit - inside or outside. General seating means any table, anywhere.
Are dogs allowed in the patio?
Yes! Tony's is pet friendly and even had a water bowls for doggies available.
Is there a Corkage fee at Tony's seafood?
Good evening. The corkage is $20, if you buy a bottle from Tony’s the corkage is waived. Have a great night!
