Go Shuck Yourself First established in 1948 by Croatian fisherman Anton "Tony" Konatich, Tony's is a legendary spot in the quiet seaside town of Marshall. It served up some of the freshest seafood and oysters around until 2017, when it closed due to the owners wanting to retire. Fortunately, nearby Hog Island Oyster Co. saw an opportunity to buy them out and keep this historic restaurant going for future generations. The gamble paid off, as Tony's was awarded Michelin Guide "Recommended" recognition in 2021 and every year thereafter. The Good: * Reservations via Resy * Outdoor seating * Great harbor views from any seat in the house * Fantastic service from "Kyle R." We started chatting about oysters, and when the subject of Carissa being a raw oyster virgin came up, he wasn't having any of that. He quickly brought us two complimentary raw oysters with escabeche sauce to try. Now that's customer service! * Local brews on tap, though not a huge selection. * Speaking of oysters, the grilled oysters with miso-nori butter were absolutely fantastic. So much umami flavor that I could've eaten a bucket of them. * The seafood stew (basically a cioppino) was absolutely packed with goodness and featured a rich, delicious tomato broth. The perfect dish for the cold, damp weather common here. * The buttermilk panna cotta dessert was absolutely fantastic. The custard was smooth and elegant, and I loved the added crunch of the granola and sweet pops of fruit from the fresh blackberries. Simple, but executed perfectly. The Meh: * Cell phone reception is spotty at best in this area, so make sure you set your navigation before you start driving over * Fish tacos were just OK. Probably not the thing to get here, but they were edible The Ugly: * Parking is kind of a shit show. There are a few spots in front of the restaurant, but you'll most likely have to park along the shoulder of the highway a bit farther down Conclusion: Tony's is one of those hidden gems that fits the description to a "T." We couldn't get a reservation at the Hog Island Oyster Co.'s outdoor Boat Oyster Bar, so made a reservation here for their oysters. Tony's Seafood takes walk-ins, but it's best to make a reservation. We went on a Monday afternoon and there was a 30-40 minute wait without a reservation. Both indoor and outdoor tables are quite nice, with views of Tomales Bay. The atmosphere is chill, with many people here for just oysters and beer. I like their grilled oysters the best, especially with the chipotle bourbon butter, although the garlic butter and delicate squash butter toppings are delicious as well. We happened to catch sunset while we were dining, and it was beautiful! read more

This little seafood gem is just off the highway and on the water literally! It has the appearance of casual dining but on the water with the sun sparkling on the water winking through the bay glass. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I am sure they can get busy and if you have cell service IF call ahead for a table. They close at 730pm so plan your time wisely. We had a group. We were quickly seated for lunch. Most of us ordered fhe clam chowder bowl. I grew up with eating fresh seafood and clam chowder was a regular monthly item in our house. Ours was creamy and thick with lots of clams so delish! But clam chowder took the prize the cream broth was thin but thick with flavor the clams in the shell were like a small pile of goodness. The food and service was very good, not the absolute best, but VERY good. We arrived at 11:30am on a sunny Thursday in mid April. Tony's is the place for Fresh Oysters. Whether they are grilled or 'on the half-shell', you will have a choice of a variety of super fresh oysters from right there in Tomales Bay to from up in WA and OR and even the East Coast. The real superstar at Tony's was a combination of the view and simple joy that came from having a table on a patio overhanging the water's edge. Don't drive out here because you are hungry, even though the food is pretty darn good. A wonderful lunch stop on the way to the coast. They take reservations but we didn't have any but got there early enough to get a nice spot outside. Loved the menu and all their oyster options- sister restaurant to Hog Island. Our server was very helpful and friendly. They had Kumamoto oysters on the half shell and they were fabulous. Came in for lunch on Veteran's day and we were told 40 minute wait for 2 people. Checked in after 30 minutes and we were seated within the next 5! So estimated wait tomes are accurate and all the workers were nice. Restaurant itself is right along the water so you get a nice view with your meal, though I had 2 nice views. We came to try to fried oyster po boy and thought the fish tacos sounded good as well. The fish tacos could've used a little more seasoning and flavor. Seriously great seafood here. The clam chowder is a lighter version and not thick like other places, with a ton of clams. The fish and chips was easily top 3 fish and chips I've had in my lifetime. The batter was crisp and crunchy and big pieces of fish perfectly fried. The clam linguini was surprisingly light and tasty, as well as their seafood stew, which came with some of the best bread slices I've had in the Point Reyes area. I think they get their bread from Brickmaiden which is another favorite of mine. If you have the time and you're in the area, you really can't go wrong with Tony's. Dog-friendly at the patio. I really liked the clam linguini (flavorful, buttery and layered) and the pieces of corn made it extra interesting. The rustic seafood stew was also very delicious with a tomato broth, perfect to pair with bread. You can order a side of bread which was made by route one bakery. The clam chowder was average in a good way but one thing to note was the watery consistency. It wasn't the typical new England clam chowder thickness so it's more like a soup than a chowder. The oyster bar mix was very fresh and creamy. Service was wonderful. Our server and the staff at the restaurant all helped out each other and very friendly. We drove about an hour and fifteen minutes from San Francisco and it might honestly be one of the most beautiful scenic drives in Northern California. Wow!! The restaurant is perfectly located on Marshall highway. You can't miss it as there are cars parked all along the side of the road. It is a casual restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating. We chose indoor just because I run a little on the cooler side but the sun was out and most preferred the porch. Service was quick, friendly and our waitress gave us great recommendations on oysters! You definitely need to try both the fresh and grilled oysters. They're incredible! My boyfriend got the fish tacos and inhaled them both. He said they were some of the best ones he's ever had. Big fish filets that were juicy! I got the half dungeons crab and it was so fresh I'm going to think about it forever. Price was fair for seafood and typical for NorCal! Don't go there! Drive another few miles down the road and go to Nick's Cove. The food is better and the service is friendly. It's a real restaurant and the prices are the same. My expectations were low from the beginning. I'm in the industry and can spot the signs. I was with a guest, so I decided to roll with it as best as possible The staff seemed completely unmotivated. We got seated. They got that right. It took at least five minutes for anyone to get by the table with water. 10 minutes later someone finally stopped to take our order. I knew we were in trouble when my guest ordered iced tea with no ice and was served half a glass of iced tea. Apparently they don't give you extra tea just because you order it with no ice. It's regular iced tea! Not a pour of a good Chardonnay. You don't measure it like that. Iced tea is the cheapest item anyone serves besides water. A half a glass of iced tea for five dollars with no offer for refill. Hell, the piece of lemon they included in the glass has a higher food cost than the tea itself. I will give them credit. My friend's oysters on the half shell were good. It's pretty hard to mess up a raw oyster. I'd had the hog Island clam chowder at their location in Napa and it was amazing. This was lukewarm, watery and flavorless . Their signature cheese sandwich was barely warm when it showed up. Obviously, it had been cooked in advance. The place has potential, but it all comes down to the bad service. No one ever came by to see how everything was. Not even to offer more coffee or iced tea. A bill was slapped down on the table with a nice 5% charge for employee health benefits. I tipped accordingly. Still, $110 for six oysters, a cup of coffee, a half glass of iced tea, a cheese sandwich, and some soup seemed ridiculous. Disappointing service. Ordinary food. We came here after visiting Napa and this is our last stop before heading to the airport. We got here before their business hour so wandered around a little bit beforehand. We went in right when they opened and this place got packed very soon. The oysters are fresh and my favorites are their Bloody Mary and Rustic Seafood Soup. I love them so much that even googled the recipes and tried to order their bloody Mary mix when I was still in the restaurant. Came here on a late Sunday afternoon, and they were pretty busy. And, I can see why, everything we ordered was delicious! But, when did oysters get so expensive??? Almost $3.5-4.50 per oyster? Still, we couldn't resist; we ordered a dozen. 1/2 Hog Island Sweetwater and 1/2 Hog Island Highwater. The smaller ones were definitely sweeter; can't remember if that was Sweetwater or Highwater. The waitress should be able to tell you. We ordered the clams pasta which the pasta was cooked al dente, clams were fresh and cleaned well (no sand or rocks), and the flavor was decent. It could use more garlic. We also ordered the Rustic Seafood Stew, which, I guess is their version of Cioppino, but the stew was not heavy like cioppino. The squids were tender, mussels and clams cooked perfectly, and the bread was toasted just right. The stew was so good, we ordered a side of pasta to add to it and cleaned house!!! I would go back just for that. Lastly, we ordered their special for the day, which was a pan seared halibut. I'm not a fan of cooked fish, but the brussel spouts were season well, soaked up in the juices and were delicious. For dessert, we wanted to order the pie, because it looked so good and it seems like everyone was ordering them. Well, I guess everyone did ordered it because, they were out by the time we wanted it. So, if you want their pie, order it early! While eating, we were treated to live music, which was a nice touch. They have patio seating and indoor seating. Some of the seats will give you a great view of the water. Some of the seats will get you pretty close and personal to other strangers, but the place is pretty small. Ordered oysters on the half shell, Oysters Rockefeller, clam chowder, bread and 2 lemonade drinks. Took awhile before our food came out. The oysters were very good especially the Oysters Rockefeller. The clam chowder was different and somewhat disappointing. It was a bowl of noncreamy potato soup with a pile of unshelled baby clams (more shell than meat). We were very much overdue for a daytrip, and decided to bounce on over to Marshall/Pt. Reyes for a day of beautiful fresh seafood, and much-needed R&R. The staff was lovely, friendly and welcoming. Rufus, our (stuffed) rat companion got some love too, as one of the women that works there and I exchanged stories of the awesomeness of pet rats. :D But I digress. Food-wise, we didn't hold back, and ordered a dozen Hog Island sweet water oysters, 4 BBQ oysters, and 2 whole crabs, one hot, one cold. Everything fresh, everything delicious. Sitting there, enjoying awesome seafood, an incredible view of the water, and some reprieve from the daily chaos of urban living - these are the moments, and we enjoyed every one.
