They will bring you your drinks and food. It helps to know this so that there are no misunderstandings or unpleasant experiences that get in the way of enjoying your food and the casual vibe. Fortunately for me, I already know this. But I didn't know about this on my first visit. This time I tried the falafel. It was a different experience than I'm used to. It was served as an open faced sandwich, a different take on a salad presentation. I found that it was a fun experience. Side Street Kitchen had such high reviews we were really excited to sit down and enjoy a meal. We walked up and stood in line, when another customer came up and asked if the people ahead of us had ordered. We said no, we're just waiting in line. They walked around us and went inside. The hostesses came out and speaks only to the people directly in front of us. I heard, "you're in the wrong area, you can order inside." Neither my husband or I are acknowledged, given an eta, or menus. So we wait for the people ahead of us to move and they do nothing but look at their menus. We wait a bit more, nothing. So we walk up to the menu on the wall to decide what we want. The people are still standing there, so we assume they don't know what they want yet and go inside to order. The hostess walks up to us and anxiously tells us there's a line. I let her know we were in it and the people in front of us weren't moving. She tells us to wait outside, and again no eta or menus are given to us. So we go back to our spot in line and look at all the empty tables and decide that the system feels disorganized and there appears to be only one waitress for 10+ tables. After waiting a bit more, we leave. At the end of the day, Side Street could have had proper signage for the line. The hostess could have addressed everyone and handed out menus. The restaurant could have even gone fancy and had an ordering tablet. But as it currently stands, Side Street Kitchen's service isn't great and its structure needs some work, so we don't see ourselves returning. read more

Nice spot for a quick bite. You order first at the counter before sitting down, and the food comes out pretty quickly after that. The staff was friendly and polite, which made the experience pleasant. It's definitely more of a casual, order and go type of place since no one checks back once your food is delivered, but it's convenient if you're just looking for something fast. They offer outdoor dining, which is great when the weather's nice, but it does mean some flies find their way inside which was not the most appetizing thing while you're eating. It wasn't a dealbreaker, just something to keep in mind if you're dining indoors. The rotisserie chicken with potatoes was really flavorful and came with their signature orange chimichurri sauce, which added a nice tangy kick. The pork belly sandwich was okay.. We chose to share a half roasted chicken with roasted potatoes and salsa verde, roasted, crispy brussels and a quinoa salad. The chicken was roasted just right and seasoned perfectly. I could have eaten more of the roasted potatoes as they were so flavorful. The quinoa salad contained arugula, greek olives, feta and little cherry tomatoes. This place is run by terrible and incompetent staff and the food is not good at all. Read on to hear this wild story. Owner, please read - you need to seriously reconsider your operations and who you hire. Upon arrival, there is no one present. You have to enter inside to order one at a time, while a line forms outside. It is seat yourself. Lacking many vegetarian options, we decided on the hash brunch dish and the fritters (to come after the meals). The hash came with 2 small potatoes, each cut in half, with mixed spinach, peppers, onions and a couple mushroom slices, with one soft boiled egg. No bread, nothing extra. For $15. I could have gotten literally anything else in the city for this price and it would have been 100x better than this. But I'm not in the city, I'm in Point Reyes, and a place like this doesn't even try because there aren't many options around, so they just don't care to make good quality food. After our plates were cleared, we waited for the fritters for 15 min. No server walked by us at all or acknowledged us. I waived, but no one saw me. They weren't overly busy so I go in to ask about it, and the lady tells me the fritters haven't been dropped yet. What? It means they haven't even started making them. I am pretty upset because we waited and they obviously forgot about our order. But they did not acknowledge it or even apologize in any way. There were 3 servers who asked me what the problem was. "I was not informed," the server says. I vocalized my unhappiness, albeit in a calm manner. I did not curse or yell at anyone. Blank Gen Z stares. Confusion. I go back and sit down, then when the fritters finally come (and are undercooked), the guy server puts them down and says to me, "next time, please be calm because my sister (the other server) is in therapy and she's very sensitive. She was crying because of this." I'm sorry - what???? Are you fucking kidding me?! Now THIS is a new one. Not only did they NOT apologize, but they fucking blame me for making someone cry for bringing an issue to their attention? I worked in the service industry and doing this would have gotten me fired. You never say this to a customer. I was not some asshole yelling and screaming at her. I felt completely disregarded, and was basically blamed for doing nothing wrong. Then the supervisor comes over and starts babbling nonsense, asking if everything is OK. When I am so obviously not OK with any of this, he literally does NOTHING. No apology, no offer to make it right. He just says it's unfortunate and they shouldn't have brought their personal issues to the customer and that was that. He was absolutely useless and awkward as hell. What a weird and terrible experience after such a nice and completely opposite experience at the Heidrun Meadery. You know - people really look forward to dining out. It's all about the experience. And lately these days, this kind of shit is just everywhere. This place was not good, but it's the only place with outdoor seating since I had my dog with me. Quinoa salad: okay, pretty mushy. I got the special they had for that day which was spare ribs. SUPER dry. I couldn't even eat it, hardly any meat but most of all it was dry. I ended up giving probably a little more than half to the dog. My sister got a sandwich and it was okay, but not great but it was definitely the best thing we got at the restaurant. We got them unsweetened. -Hibiscus Tea- soo refreshing and fruity - Mango tea- very black tea forward but still delicious. One of the worst service experience I've had in a while. We arrived there on a Sunday around 1:10pm with a group of 5 and were told to wait outside until the inside line cleared out. But when we finally did reach the counter, they took the order of two from our group and confirmed with us that we were with them, and then told us to wait again. We ended up waiting for 15 more minutes while our two friends sat in our booth. It was so ridiculous to ask us if we were in the same group and then totally disregard it. The food was mediocre. Spice Seared Rock Cod at $19 was a light dish. Two small pieces of fish were placed on a bed of butter lettuce, roasted cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, radishes, arugula with salsa verde. You'll need to order some sides if you're really hungry. Heirloom Bean "Cassoulet" at $16 was a mix of perfectly cooked beans, shaved fennel, baby kale, sage, truffle butter, and four pieces of crunchy fried tofu. The truffle flavor was minimal to none, which was fine with me. It was thick and hearty for a chilly damp day. You can add bratwurst for $6 if you want it meaty. The first time we went here, it was AMAZING! We live 300 miles away, but we visit the ocean regularly. We stopped here 3 other times to have the same experience but unfortunately they were closed (even though their hours said they would be open). We attempted to try it again last weekend. We got there early, stood in line patiently, went up to the counter to put in our order. The cute blond behind the counter told us they don't serve breakfast on the weekends, although they had eggs benedict. I was confused and disheartened. I drove 300 miles to have their delicious the tri tip tacos, and once again, she said she couldn't make them as it was on the breakfast menu. At this point, I knew we would need to go somewhere else. Considering she said they had eggs benedict, I asked if I could just order some scrambled eggs (they have eggs obviously), and she gave me the worst look I have ever seen on someone. At that point, I turned around and left. We will NEVER be back. What restaurant on the ocean would deny a paying customer for something so easy to make. This restaurant needs to get it together. Fascinating place in the heart of Pt Reyes Station plopped quite literally on an expanse of asphalt in the middle of a parking lot. I have never seen it not crowded, but I genuinely don't understand the hype. As others have mentioned before, they run out of the bulk of menu items by noon. This includes on a random Wednesday. When we arrived just before 12 PM, they had no fish, pork belly, or falafel left (3 out of the 4 main dishes). I can't tell if this is one of those restaurant-psychology things where they create demand by not supplying enough food...? but it's really annoying, and customers have been pointing this out for a few years now. That said, there are some nice veggie, chicken, and fish options (that is, if there's any left by the time you arrive). In a pinch, do what I do, and order a child's cheese quesadilla and a salad - or make a meal out of whatever side dishes they happen to have left. Or just have dessert - although they were out of that, too :(((( There isn't much indoor seating, and the views outside are nothing to speak of, given that you're in a parking lot. We've decided that our best bet in the future is to get a sandwich at one of the local sandwich shops, and picnic on a beach nearby :) You might want to consider the same!! read more

Then u can choose a table inside or outside under the tent with heat lamps. The food came in about 15 mins. Very fresh. I loved both the dishes. The cod was not fried but covered in seaweed sesame seeds. The flavor of the broth under the noodles was light and delicious. Noodles slightly crunchy and enjoyed the cucumbers and seaweed. Yesterday was my first time here, and it was a nice Oasis of welcome and comfort during the drizzly weather. There are also outside, tented seating areas, so there's room to spread out. There are big plates of half a roasted chicken for big appetites and a selection of smaller ones for less ravenous appetites. For me, a large pint-sized glass of drip coffee with a side of cream, plus steamed broccolini, plus hot bread and butter was just the thing I wanted. I think the huge roasted chicken platter would have been way too much for me. Service was good. The way it works here is you order your food at the register, pay, and then sit down at your table. I came here while on a work trip with my colleagues. I ordered the sandwich. It was pretty tasty. The restaurant itself is very busy but small. The only downside is the one restroom that they have. There was a long line of people waiting to use the restroom.... But that is to be expected since it's a small restaurant. Besides from that, we all enjoyed our time here.
