Friendly, no nonsense vibe and their dance party with DJ last night was totally fun! It was "East Bay" night and the place was busy with people of all ages. I love that I can get taster size glasses at about $4 each so I can try a good variety. I love rice lagers so it was a plus the night I found Hanamachi there on tap and I took a can home to share. James and Alicia are always helpful with their suggestions to help those, like me, who have no clue but are learning, what I like. Now I know I also like Strata hops, like in the DDH Strata Salad. I wish I could give a better review. 1 star is all I could muster for the following reasons: Went with my bride and daughter. Carried my 2.5yo in the door. My wife had her in arms while waiting to order at the counter. Ordered our beers and sat down at a table. We were at the table, with our daughter, for about 5 minutes before we were approached by one of the staff. He asked us if we had our daughter with us when we came in. This is also the same guy that asked us for our order at the counter?!?!?!? Then he explained that we needed to leave ASAP because they could get in trouble if we were allowed to stay, because we had our daughter with us. At no point in time were we given an option to finish our beers and depart, simply that we needed to leave right then and there. We were forced to down our drinks and leave. So embarrassing while others are staring at us literally getting kicked out. On the way out, I looked around the inside, on the walls, counters, tables, then outside as well in the windows and on the door. ZERO signs visible or conspicuous that say "21 and over only". You get deductions for: -1 No appropriate warning signage, and nothing on the website. -1 Serving us while we are being conspicuous -1 for insisting we leave immediately after your oversight. -1 Allowing a "regular" to have a dog in there that kept barking and being disruptive to the normal course of business. Yes, this was our first time in there and had been wanting to pay a visit for a long time. This was also our last visit. We ended up going to another brewery just a 1/2 mile away that was elated at our presence, was kid friendly and stated that on the way in, and served my wife and daughter like the queens they are. read more

Pandemic Review: I haven't been here since the pandemic started. They now have several small tables along Sweetser (around the corner from the business) and a couple of tables in front. You can order from your table or go into the shop. They had a nice selection of draft beers - two double IPAs were on the menu. If you want a can of beer, you will have to buy the entire pack. They won't split it. It was a very good experience on probably one of the last few warm afternoons of the year. I hope that the warm weather continues so that I can return. read more

Very friendly, local vibe bar. I am not a local, but this place makes me wish I was, and yet they still treated me like a local. Pleasant atmosphere, nice selection of beers, both on tap as well as in bottles. Great recommendations by the staff according to your palette, and relaxing place to just hang out. I really wish that I had a bar like this in my neighborhood, which is in the San Fernando valley of Los Angeles county. Love beercraft and that they expanded to a place in novato right down the street from my house! Super awesome selection of rotating beers in the tap room, always a stout/porter or 2 on draft which I love! They have a nitro tap too and I love a good nitro beer so I love that they always have one available! Phenomenal selection of to-go beer with some rare finds! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions about to-go beer as well as what's on tap. Bummer we can't have a taste first, but 5 ozs is still a fine tasting size and with the cool, rare finds it's better not to give away! James is usually the beertender when I go in and he is super awesome! Nice guy with lots of information about the beers which makes it easier to select a beer before ordering and his descriptions are usually spot on! The bathroom is very clean and well maintained as is the rest of the building. Snacks are available for only $1 which is super reasonable and nice. They have some games also which is always fun in a taproom when enjoying a few rounds with friends. Lots of seating options and a nice space, definitely worth stopping in!! Came here first time for the 3-year anniversary celebration! The event was held in a small parking lot to the side of the building, and was a collection of tables, tents and chairs scattered about. One end of the lot was anchored by a small-foods booth, and the other by the music "stage" - which was ground level and right there with us! To one side was a trailer from which various deliciousness spewed forth. The event itself was only for a few hours, starting at 11am, and it didn't get really crowded until about 1ish - although people were still coming in an hour before the event was scheduled to end. This location is one of two under the BeerCraft name, and my exposure is only limited to a few beers I tried this day. However, my friends who graciously invited me are quite familiar with this location (and their expanded in building beer menu) and are fans. I started with a surprise (meaning I just said."surprise me" as I don't know beers that well . . . and I was surprised indeed!). First one was Turoc: Revenge of Mosaic. Yikes! Sounds like a superhero movie - and it played well with me! It's a hazy, single hop from Cellarmaker Brewing in SF, and was quite delightful. A fine start. Second one I tasted (courtesy of sharing!) was the Lost Wisdom, also from Cellarmaker. Described as "a tart solera saison" I would nominate that description for understatement of the year - or at least the day. Maybe I don't like lactobacillus, especially in beer, or tartness in general, but when my face unpuckered I knew I would need a beer to kill the taste in my mouth. I settled on the El Duende, from Bottle Logic Brewing in Anaheim. Although I am versant in Spanish, I needed to research the name of this quirky beverage - it means, from what I found out, Leprechaun. Oh right - not much talk of leprechauns in my times in Mexico - an odd name for a beer, as well! Described as an "Horchata-inspired bourbon barrel aged imperial stout (Darkstar November) with vanilla and cinnamon" I knew I was hooked! I love horchata, what can go wrong with a blanket of bourbon cuddling it while aging, and vanilla and cinnamon, two flavorings I've learned to love in Mexico and now appreciate here in the US. All these together? Priceless. The 13.8 ABV doesn't hurt (although it can be a challenge, so be careful!) and it is one of the highest ABVs I have ever tried. The cup arrived about a 1/4 filled, simply because of the kick of the ABV, but the flavor was amazing and one you sipped, almost like a fine cognac, rather that drank like a beer. The flavors bounced back and forth, and at times I swear the vanilla was predominant, then the bourbon would arrive, then the horchata and so forth - it was just wonderful, the best beer for taste I have had in years! If you drink beer for flavor, and have a sweet tooth, you MUST try this. In between the tastings of beers, I also tried the small foods that were available. Well, two out of three items - didn't try the hot dog, but it looked amazing when loaded with toppings! Tried the golden Yukon potato salad, and the deviled eggs. Both were very good, and from what I understand, all were provided by Creekside Bakery in Novato (forgot to take pic of the sign, but that's my memory). The potato salad, for my taste, needed just a bit more salt, but was creamy and well seasoned with herbs. The eggs were good, as well (but not as good as my homemade!) and included a touch of sriracha sauce for a bit of heat, a nice touch I will have to try at home (okay, my eggs can always improve!). The prices were a bit high ($5 for three eggs) but understandable in this setting. The music was the third leg of the experience (beer, food and song!) and the 2 live bands we heard were very good, and enjoyable for a varied audience. Even the DJ between bands had a good, enjoyable selection of music. So 5 stars for the music. The only complaints were: not enough seating, and not enough shade. It was hot - could have been hotter, so not complaining, but standing for an hour or two or three in the sun is not comfortable. And if you want some food, good luck balancing a beer and plate with one hand and eating with the other. Still, it looked like people were enjoying themselves, and isn't that the point of a celebration?! Looking forward to the 4th year celebration! read more

Best beer selection in Novato, probably in Marin. I love the vibe, and the people who work here are great. I wish it was in a better location, like somewhere they could have outdoor seating...but, for the place that they have, it is pretty much as good as it can be (with the exception of some comfier chairs). This is a very interesting place ! They change the beer very week or so. I'm not a beer fan how ever I like their choices! All the beer I feel like they have different personality just like people and I'm pretty sure you can find a beer that definitely fits you! It's a nice small place, not overly crowded with people. A good selection of beer list. Prices are fair. I also like the fact that they have different selections in the fridge. Great for gifts for friends who enjoy beer! On some night they also have pizza made by Creek Side Bakery! Easy parking on the side, they open at 1pm to 9pm so it's a nice little place to have a beer or two with friends or date night. I was thrilled to see a vast array of 32 ounce bottles to go, and a very fine selection of beers on tap from all over; not just Sonoma county. This is a low budget operation that's all about the beer and nothing else. As a result, you will find people there who came for two reasons: the beer and being with like minded beer lovers. Bring a pizza if you want food because it's all about beer here. They have a "beer of the month" club, but the guy running the place had no information printed. The beers are packed into big cans each month for pickup. I also overhead that they will be getting bottles of Pliny the Elder, so you don't have to fight your way into Santa Rosa and do the hipster scene to get your Pliny. Bonus! A location in Rohnert Park too... And an equally dubious front. Looks like a good location for auto parts. As with Blue Bottle coffee, why advertise or buy an expensive store when the product will pull in a crowd wherever they are? This is the real deal. Hard core beer drinkers, but no snobs. read more

I came here on a whim on a Monday afternoon with a friend. I was delighted to see how low-key and chill the atmosphere was. There is a long bar to sit at by the taps, another long bar to sit at by the windows, and a few tables scattered around. They offer games to play, and the beer selection is very nice! I noticed they had lots of local California breweries on tap, as well as a few from out of state. I like that they offer bottles in the refrigerators along the back wall, too. The customers seem to be from all walks of life, very unpretentious and relaxed. The bartender was also very nice. Had a casual get-together with friends. Love the easy atmosphere! More like a cafe, not a bar -- I guess that's expected for a beer place. I'd feel comfortable walking in by myself. The beer selection is, of course, awesome. The only drawback was that it was a bit noisy -- it was a busy Friday evening. At the start of Summer 2016 (in fact I believe it was the weekend of the Novato Art & Wine Festival), I noticed a new shop going up on Redwood Boulevard near Perry's Deli, and noted that it was to be a beer-only outlet. A few days later I noticed a similar spot at San Francisco's Ferry Building, so perhaps this is a phenomenon that's been around for a while and I just noticed it (wouldn't be the first time), or maybe it really is a new thing. Of course, bars are plentiful and have been around for a time, and are good for when you need a shot of courage, or to watch sports on television with a group of people, or simply to get hammered. So you have to like Beercraft's directness of its targeting. We serve and sell beer here. Period. And that's both a good and bad thing. Good in the sense that they keep their options well-stocked (unlike a certain bar on Grant Avenue that seems to be eternally out of half of the beers on their menu), the barkeep is knowledgeable, and they are pretty cool when it comes to bringing outside food into the establishment. Plus the place is kept cool and roomy - it can handle a good number of people before you are obligated to smell somebody's armpit. On the other hand, there really isn't much going on here. Great for drinking beer and socializing, but it could really use a dartboard or a foozball table or a television. In order for it to be fully successful, I think they'll have to move in that direction. But at least they have a concept that's unique to Novato. read more

Very cool place with some beer taps and bottles in the cooler. They focus on lesser known beers from Cali. I knew quite a few of them. I selected a peanut butter beer on tap and it was delish. We were in town a couple weeks ago and decided to grab a beer. BeerCraft was the first place we came across. They have a large selection of beers and we were informed that although they don't serve food, we were welcome to bring food in which is awesome. I love trying new beers but don't always know what I am wanting so it's nice when employees are knowledgeable. Alecia was amazing, I told her what I liked and she made some recommendations which were spot on. She made a couple of suggestions for my boyfriend as well which he also enjoyed.
