I also loved how much natural light flowed into the store. But what I love to do most of all is look at all the art on the wine bottles, so cool! I found this rosé at a really good price ($12+ tax)! Some restaurants offer glasses at this price lolol. The checkout process was really fast and easy, I opted for the email receipt option (better for the environment). I would check out more of their selection another time- maybe after I finish my first bottle :)

I read it's his first expansion beyond his Berkeley HQ in 50 years, a milestone for a man who helped define Bay Area wine tastes. Since 1972, Lynch championed wines with authenticity, character, and a sense of place, focusing on smaller European growers. His shop in Berkeley, considered one of the best wine shops in the U.S., has a particular bent towards Burgundies, Rhone reds, Loire Valley wines, Provencal roses, and small Italian wines, and that seems to be true here as well. One thing worth mentioning, my service experience in the Berkeley location has been a more friendly one. I wasn't greeted or acknowledged during my Marin visit. My love of AppleTV's Drops of God (well, definitely Season 1) has only added to the mystique of a place like this for me. I grabbed their brochure and the reverence for the artistry, history, and human stories behind smaller production wines stands out. This new shop feels extra fancy, but that's probably part of the charm. It's built around learning about wine, and despite appearances (and yes, many bottles are expensive) we found a few bottles at a lower ($13-$25) price point that encourages dabbling, without that cavernous, "left to your own devices" atmosphere at many of those corporate big box wine shops. Since I didn't want to pay premium price for booze at Woodland's Market (which makes Whole Foods seem cheap), I swung by Colonial Liquors on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. I hadn't been here in 15-20 years. There's plenty of easy/free parking right in front of the store. They had a vast selection of wines & spirits. I wound up purchasing a 750 ML bottle of New Amsterdam Vodka for just $12. Hard to beat that price! I was in and out in less than 3 minutes. The guy behind the counter was helpful and friendly. FYI, they also have a deli (which I can't speak to) and plenty of munchie options (chips, candy, etc.). All in all, this liquor store saved the day. Kentfield is lucky to have it.

I began to eat lunch on the patio. this not so much because i like eating outside but the lovely holly usually served tables there... go figure. the food improved after a short period of adjustment, sometimes it lapsed but there were periods when if you wanted to see a menu in french, it was one of few, certainly, and best, perhaps, in marin... for what that's worth. then for various important reasons i completely forgot about the place, until a few weeks ago when i needed something new. here's the impression i came away with: get a reservation for sure on weekends. prepare to only understand only about half of what your dinner companion says because the tables are crowded and the room acoustics are terrible. pay attention to the european wines on the list because they're good and reasonably priced. the appetizers are well done, especially liked some kind of thing done with avacado of all things. i didn't like the cassoulet, the stew was crowded into a smaller kind of crockery with a huge piece of undercooked cabbage occupying almost half of the volume. the fish on the other hand was very good. service was very friendly, but not nearly enough for the number of diners, unless the problem was in the kitchen... slow maybe? overall, i'd say give it another try.
