One bite, and I nearly threw up; it tasted sour and rancid, not even edible for something pretending to be food. The texture was slimy, the bun was a soggy wreck, and the toppings--wilted lettuce and a sad smear of sauce--looked like they'd been scraped off someone else's plate. Way Station catered my son's 2nd birthday party last weekend. Our party of 40 adults and 15 kids loved everything! We had delicious ribs, smoked wings with celery, mac and cheese, coleslaw, pickles, corn bread, along with beef brisket sliders! The set up and clean up were easy and everyone was overly satisfied with our variety of food options. It was all so perfect for an afternoon in the park. Very Rushed Taste... We ordered a few dishes, and everything tasted quite unbalanced. The baby back ribs, for example, were quite poorly executed. They were over boiled to the point where the meat was sliding off the bone. Additionally, since the meat was boiled for such a long time, the ribs lacked a proper juicey, melt in your mouth texture and had a rather bland flavor. The pork was so soft that the smokey flavor was so strong it overpowered the bland , overbooked pork, which left a bitter flavor at the front of your palate that lingered for far too long. Moreover, the salt was not balanced, which left a strong salty taste, which also lingered at the front of your palate. The BBq sauce was slightly too acid forward and was a tad thin. The sauce did not seem to be cooked down long enough for the flavors to balance out and to thicken up properly. Service was mediocre. Nobody asked if we enjoyed the food and seemed content to offer run-of-the-mill fare. I would not recommend this place. Poorly executed food. read more

The outdoor ambience is intimate and fun. The indoor ambience is minimal. The food was unfortunately very subpar. We ordered the tri-tip and half rack of ribs. Stumbled across this place after a long day of hiking. They had a really great standard brewery menu and beer list. Ordered: Mac n Cheese -4.5/5 if you like super cheesy! Pulled pork sandwich - 5/5 - amazing bread and topped with coleslaw Brisket plate- 4/5- meat was amazing but the plate itself didn't have much to bring it life and was a little cold Covid safe / friendly: The staff was constantly cleaning down the surfaces and taking to keep guests safe which was great to see! Stopd into the way station last night to watch the warriors game and some bbq n brews. The food is always very consistant and good. And the beers and ciders on tap are always changing giving a nice selection to choose from. Last night much to our surprise they have added an open mic night with live music and the place was way more packd than we are used too, with music going outside on the patio area and the basketball game going on inside. It was a nice added bonus to the game. The only downside to the added event is the place realy wasnt ready to serve that many people, the lines just to order a drink were ridiculous, and will probly detour me from going back on another open night mic. We were coming back from the beach on the 4th of July and our intended destination was closed. This was open so we stopped. Much of their food is BBQ in flavor. I had the BBQed half chicken. I thought I had ordered the chicken sandwich but this was a nice change of pace for me. The chicken was barbecued with a very flavorful and slightly spicy hot sauce - not really sweet. If you need more sauce, they have squeeze bottles filled with this sauce or a hotter sauce. Each entree item also comes with a small portion of coleslaw. I liked it but my daughter said it needed more flavor. My daughter ordered the pulled pork sandwich. She loved it and ate the whole thing (unusual). She allowed me to have a bite. I would order it. We sat at the bar and talked with the owner for several minutes, which enhanced our visit. There was also some live music, which I enjoyed. The food was a bit slow getting to us, but overall a very good first experience. They have a small selection of not-your-usual beers on tap, plus two wine taps and a hard kombucha tap and some cherry cider. We thought that they needed more beers but that's because they didn't have a double IPA. I will be back to try some other items on the menu and some of those unusual beers. read more

Food: Half rack of ribs, brisket sandwich, baked beans, and cotija corn. Flavors were very underwhelming. I couldn't taste any smoke or see any visible smoke rings in the protein. The brisket sandwich came with a small side of coleslaw and two slices of pickles; slaw had no seasoning or flavor but pickles were tasty, just wish there were more than 2 small slices. Ribs were really 'wet' which negated any rub or seasoning they had during the smoking process. Meh. Disappointing because I really wanted to like this places food. It was a one and done visit for my family. I'll hit up other bbq spots in Marin or elsewhere, but check it out for the ambiance. read more

Cold Beer and delicious Bar-B-Que! Was looking for an early afternoon meal after driving around the area and stumbled upon this great joint. Biergarten and BBQ! Sounds perfect. Extensive Beer Menu, so we had the Pilsner, and it was so good, have to have another. Self service water was also appreciated. Ordered our food and drinks at the bar counter and took a seat by the unlit fire pit (was a wonderful Marin Day). Regular and spicy BBQ sauce weee provided for the wings and sandwich. Sandwich was the Hot Mess, which I naively assumed was a description of combining the pulled pork and the Brisket into the single sandwich. Whoops! It has HOT in the title and it's a BBQ place. How could I miss that! Well, regardless, it was delicious, although I had to water the strength down a bit with the regular sauce. The Bun was firm enough to hold everything together and went along perfectly. The onion rings came out perfectly cooked, with no carry over flavors you sometimes get from the oil on these things. They were golden brown and flaky, but not too thick on the breading. Great accompaniment to the meal. Partner had the wings, and they come pretty dry so you can flavor them with your preferred sauce. Pretty tasty, but not my favorite compared to the sandwich and rings. Environment was way chill, although the sun seems to slide on down the far side pretty early. The ambiance outside is nice and cozy- I will say that! We tried after a couple years to see if anything changed- even though it was still expensive we thought that it was still worth it. The last couple times we got takeout, things were a bit off. The first time my order was completely wrong after waiting 20 minutes after my online order was expected to be ready. So I waited another 5 while they got me the correct items. The last time we went, my pulled pork sliders were nothing but pork fat. I know this is Marin but I personally don't have the budget to waste money on potentially inedible food and will make pulled pork at home when I get the craving. read more

Went here because Iron Springs Pub & Brewery was closed as it was just a few minutes away and also dog-friendly. There is a private parking lot and quite a few benches and heaters for outdoor seating. The beer selection was nice, with the Hazy IPA from Laughing Monk quite delicious. Growlers are also available. And the food was quite good. Both the french fries and the sweet potato fries were tasty, though the sweet potato fries were cut a bit thicker and tasted a bit better. The brisket burger was good and tasted even better with their sauce. The chicken burger has a bit of a kick and was good, too. Super friendly staff. We noticed they cleaned down the tables after each use, and there were hand sanitizers throughout. read more
