    matcha w almond milk
    Zoya S.

I stopped by Marin Coffee Roasters in Novato while staying with a friend, and I have to say--the drive-thru setup is brilliant. It was freezing outside, so being able to just roll up and grab a drink made everything so easy. I went for a matcha with almond milk, and honestly, it might have been one of the best matchas I've had. The speed of service was insane--it almost felt like my drink was ready to go the second I ordered--but it was clearly made with care because it tasted spot-on. And the matcha actually gave me that energizing boost I look for, which is rare these days since so many places either dilute it or don't make it properly. I didn't try any food this time, but after that drink, I'm definitely coming back to explore the menu.

I come here again occasionally. The service is good, the coffee is great. Today, the breakfast burrito was SUPERIOR!! I couldn't believe the amount of bacon!!!! It was about two strips chopped up and so flavorful!!!

Fast and friendly drive thru service. Excellent local coffee. Great location at an intersection.

Cute drive up spot! Perfect in the rain bc no one gets wet. The latte tastes a bit burnt. The cold brew is 5/5.

Aftermath of getting a latte here

THIS COFFEE SHOP SERVED ME A LATTE SO DANGEROUSLY HOT IT MELTED THE LID. I've been coming to this coffee shop almost everyday when discovering it a month ago while caring for my sick grandmother in the area. I've never had an issue - until now, and what unfolded has been not only frustrating but deeply upsetting. On my recent visit, I was served a latte that was scalding to the point of being dangerous. The coffee was so boiling hot that I couldn't drink it but the little bit I did try burned my tongue severely. By the time it cooled enough to try, the plastic lid had melted due to the heat, spilling hot coffee which didn't even taste like coffee all over my car. I suffered a severe burn to my tongue and was left with a mess I had to throw out entirely. This was beyond unacceptable. The cup was made of paper, not equipped to handle such extreme temperatures, which raises serious questions about the safety standards of this establishment. I reported the incident to an employee, who apologized and promised me a refund. I appreciated their initial response, but after a week of waiting, no refund was issued. When I called to follow up today, I was met with shockingly unprofessional behavior. The employee I spoke with didn't know what I was referring to, so she asked a coworker for assistance. To my disbelief, I overheard the coworker telling her to "just hang up on her." Yes, you read that correctly. Instead of resolving a legitimate customer concern, the staff thought it was acceptable to mock me and ignore my issue entirely. I was polite throughout this process and simply wanted the refund I was promised. Not only was the refund still not issued, but I was treated with utter disrespect. When I called back to escalate the issue, I was again met with a dismissive attitude and empty promises of a callback--which, of course, never happened. This lack of accountability and blatant disregard for customer safety and satisfaction is astounding. For reference, there are laws in place that regulate the serving temperature of hot beverages to prevent injuries. The fact that this business disregarded those safety standards, resulting in severe burns to my tongue and property damage to my vehicle, is not just negligent--it's potentially illegal. This is no longer about the refund. It's about the unacceptable way this business treats its customers and their complete failure to adhere to basic safety and service standards. If I do not hear back by tomorrow, I will be filing a formal complaint and reporting this as fraud. I no longer feel comfortable supporting a business that disrespects its customers, ignores legitimate safety concerns, and allows its staff to engage in unprofessional and abusive behavior. If you value your safety and your dignity, I urge you to avoid Marin Coffee Roasters entirely. You deserve better coffee and better treatment. This place is not worth the risk.below I have included picture of the aftermath of my burned tongue below. My apologies if the image below is disturbing.

In an alternate universe where Peet's and Starbucks did not exist, and where the customers are using PCs instead of MacBooks, there is Marin. Nice sunny space with friendly, experienced baristas pulling nice shots and making traditional espresso drinks. No fancy art here but it's a very smooth medium roast and they steam the milk correctly. Nice pastry selection and there is a patio area for sitting outside if it's not too cold.

I don't say that lightly. I'll start with Arabic light roast coffee that was a golden color and infused with cardamom. It was exactly what I was looking for that day. It tasted great, and it gave me to pick me up. I needed for the rest of the afternoon. I have never seen coffee that color. It was delightful. As for the fatayer, it is basically the Yemeni version of an empanada. I am very much a savory breakfast person, so this was a special treat. The spices were amazing, and it was cooked to perfection. This is one of the items you can see in the display case that they warm up for you on the spot. There were also many desserts and other food options. I should also note that I ordered on a large tablet display, which included several different drink, and food options. Honestly, the menu was a little bit overwhelming given the number of choices, but it also makes me think that there is so much more that I need to try next time. I needed to get some work done, so I sa myself down on the very comfortable couch, which conveniently contained a Wi-Fi password stuck to the edge of the adjacent table. It was very chill, and if I didn't have an appointment to get you I certainly could've stayed there all day. I am excited to try some other things on the menu and continue to support this local business.

Really enjoy this one! ** strawberry and cream chiffon cake slice (3.5/5): didn't really feel like a chiffon cake or maybe it was on the drier side. It worked well with the mascarpone frosting though, which was smooth and a little too rich for me by itself. There wasn't too much strawberry besides the sweet jam layer in the middle. ** Brutta mi buoni (4/5): translated to "ugly but delicious," this craggly meringue actually caught my eye and curiosity for its looks. A few swirls later, and my entire drink was sweetened just right. There's nothing like the taste of sugary honeycomb. 2. Everything Knot - This was my highlight of the visit. I am from NJ, so I'm a bit of a Bagel snob, and yet, connoisseur. The way this Knot was layered and crafted made all right in the world. Clean, curated interior, great energy, and the kind of pastry case that immediately makes you abandon any sense of restraint. Come hungry because the menu rewards excess. Some items stood out more than others, but honestly, everything ranged from good to excellent. The coffee was dialed in, the pastries felt intentional instead of trendy, and the whole experience had that rare combination of polish without pretension. Absolutely worth returning for Parking? Lot We had: Coffee (5/5): exactly what good cafe coffee should be. Balanced, flavorful, and structured enough to stand up to the sweeter pastries without getting lost. Smooth profile, clean finish, no bitterness Bacon Sampler (Benton's, Nueske's, Hill's, Candied) (5/5): sounds gimmicky until it hits the table. Then you realize someone actually thought this through. Each bacon had its own personality, but the candied bacon was the standout. Perfect balance of smoke, salt, fat, and sweetness Smoked Trout Rillettes (5/5): this was excellent. The smoked trout had real depth without becoming overpowering, and the creme fraiche completely changed the game by adding a cool, tangy richness that balanced everything out. Spread onto the bread, it created those perfect bites where texture and flavor all lock together at once Calistoga Crunch (5/5): absolute chaos visually, somehow beautiful anyway. It looked like something your toddler proudly makes during Christmas and you hang on the tree because you weirdly love it. But flavorwise, this thing was seriously dialed in! Sweet, crunchy, salty, textured, layered. Every component worked. One of the better cookies I've had in a long time Strawberry Tea Cake (5/5): dense in the way a good tea cake should be, but still light enough to avoid feeling heavy. The strawberry flavor came through naturally without turning artificial or overly sweet. Simple yet elegant, and incredibly easy to keep eating Pain au Chocolat (4/5): still good, but the weakest of the group. The pastry leaned a little brittle and slightly dry, lacking some of that buttery pull and softness you want from a great pain au chocolat. The chocolate itself was solid, and it was still enjoyable overall, just not something I'd specifically come back for
