The overall effect was like eating a piece of cake that had fallen in a puddle of milk - with dried leaves in the icing. I had three bites and then told them guy behind the counter that it had no flavor and all he could offer was "I'm sorry". For $8 and no offer to make it right, it was a really bad experience and I would never go there again.

It's OK to ask a question and they won't yell at you if you want cream in your coffee. They do keep it behind the counter in the refrigerator, by request only. For some reason, coffee always taste better to me on site than at home. Maybe it's the temperature of the water, maybe it's just the ambience and the brief conversation? I don't know but I prefer to have my cup outside of the home. I'm a rather social being. The owner has a knack for hiring, competent, talented and friendly staff! Truly the BEST coffee anywhere, seriously...... maybe that's why they won so many awards?! Beans are available daily and frequently with half-price sale on your second bag. A great gift to send somebody in a different city, throw in a T-shirt or other swag while you're at it. I found that relatives and friends really dig stuff from the Bay Area. There are a variety of "at home barista"accoutrements available for sale to include the lovely Chemex glass coffee maker. Grinders, scales, etc. A coffee paraphernalia shop- "legal speed". I ordered an iced mocha with oat milk during a busy time and waited about 20-30 minutes. While I was waiting, I noticed several customers who ordered after me received their drinks. I went up to the counter to ask about my order, and the cashier seemed confused. The barista remembered making my drink and believed someone may have accidentally taken it since there had been a drink sitting on the pickup counter for a while. The barista told me he would remake my drink and even offered the drink to another customer instead of discarding it. However, he continued making other orders before remaking mine. Just as I was about to ask for a refund, I finally received my coffee. I understand that mistakes happen, especially during busy periods, but better communication and order tracking would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, my first experience left a bad impression. As much as I liked the atmosphere, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this coffee shop based on the service I received.

We ultimately decided on some El Jefe Tacos, a shrimp and crab enchilada, a three-item combo with two chile rellenos and a cheese enchilada with green sauce, a carne asada taco, and the volcanic Molcajete (served in a warm stone bowl with grilled steak, chicken, and prawns. Covered with a red chile, roasted tomato sauce). For libations, we went with a mojito and a new drink - for us at least - the pineapple mezcal mule! The food came in a timely manner, and the molcajete was still bubbling! Hence, the volcano nickname! The mojito was very minty and refreshing, and the pineapple mezcal mule was an acquired taste for some of the group - I enjoyed the smoky earthiness of the mezcal, but it's not your run-of-the-mill tequila, so if you are new to mezcal, be aware of the difference. The food last time was a bit spicy, but this time it was not an issue. Still spicy, but not to the point of being overpowering. Even the salsas were not as extreme. Good for some of us! All the food was delicious, and the three-item combo was great to look at as well. As we say, "the eyes eat first," and indeed my eyes were little piggies that meal! Overall, the service was great, the food great, and the entertainment a perfect background for what would have been just a noisy bunch of chatter. Overall a great Father's Day lunch.

Served with pickled onions on corn tortillas. They were OK. Huevos Rancheros ($19) were, as expected, fried eggs over corn tortillas and slathered with green and red sauces. Pretty good. Most expensive was the five Street Taco Plate ($48), an outrageous price for five street tacos. Of course, you could choose what protein you wanted in those five tacos, but... We will be back as son's family like it very much. We...not so much.

Even another customer saw it and said "that looks amazing!" It was indeed not only lived up to the enticing poster, but was perhaps one of the BEST salmon toast I have EVER had across the globe. Even better than a well known San Francisco bakery with visit often. Wow! Wow! WOW! I asked Ruchir if I could take some photos while I waited for my order. He was very generous in asking if I wanted to sample some of the homemade Gelato. Oh course! Well, we honeymooned in Italy so I KNOW excellent Gelato and Sip & Bite Cafe has sourced exceptional choice including mango. Turkish coffee. Delicious! Ruchir shared they have only been opened for a few months and they ONLY offer the freshest Ingedients and explain how they roast their coffee beans. Of course I then ordered a cappacino! Excellent! The muffin tasted like a lot of the less expensive ingredients, and very little of the good ingredients. The chai was bland. I definitely have compassion regarding the situation, I'm sure the owner is under a lot of stress. But, this could be a person's time to show their true colors and she shows that she's very selective and who she is kind too and who she is not. My compassion ends here. I will not return, nor would I recommend this place.

She told us after graduating all she wanted to do was just go grab a Banh Mi and a Vietnamese coffee at the spot her and her friends went to many many times over the past four years. Nostalgia I tell ya. Well after a small debate, I relented and we headed to Banh Mi & Coffee on Grand Avenue in San Rafael. Parking for this little shop is a nightmare as it's a very small shopping strip with just a few spots-some of us had to find street parking in this highly congested area. Once inside this very cozy shop, it's almost like stepping back in time. To call it a no-frills shop is quite the understatement. But for some reason, something told me this place was going to be great! We ended up going with a mix of different sandwiches-a few grilled porks and a few grilled chickens and a Vietnamese coffee Sandwiches ran around $7.00 each and the Vietnamese coffee ran around $5.50. There was a slight discount for paying in cash. The sandwiches got to us after a very short 10-12 minute wait and I so love when I'm right about a place. These Banh Mi sandwiches were legit-very tasty-very filling-meat cooked well, right amount of veggies-I've got to admit, even though I was hesitant, it truly hit the spot. I preferred the grilled pork over the grilled chicken, but others in the party preferred the chicken. Even though it wasn't what I had in mind for a graduation meal, it ended up working out pretty well and at the end of the day all that really matters is sharing quality time and food with the people that matter & Banh Mi and Coffee definitely provided the quality food. They are wonderful people who really care about the food and service and, especially, their customers! It is the "old style" coffee shop. It even has the coffee shop counter and stools! And although updated, as would be expected, the menu serves "coffee shop" meals. By that, I don't mean the proverbial "greasy spoon" coffee shop food. A diverse menu with all of the coffee shop standards and then some!!! When we dine at the Mill Valley Coffee Shoo, we feel like family and get what we would expect - home style cooking (from Phil) and sevice from a Mom to her family (Lorrain). We've been dining there for almost 30 years, and as long as we can, we intend to keep eating Phil's wonderful food and enjoying Lorraine's wonderful service!!!
