This is not a fancy place, but a quiet place with a competent chef. The staff is young but helpful and friendly. Excellent service and great food! Our server, Bee, showed me and my family the warmest hospitality from the time we came in till when we left. Aside from the hospitality and food we really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the restaurant. We got the pork gyoza and tempura shrimp as appetizers. The gyoza is absolutely delicious and I'd highly recommend it. For our main dishes, my wife really enjoyed the drunken noodles and I loved the Pad Thai. We found this place by happenstance and WOW are we glad we did!! The service was great, the waiter attentive and kind- we even met the owner/chef who came out to greet us, then later to make sure everything was satisfactory. The atmosphere was calm and the decorations lovely making it a nice place to enjoy a meal together. Last, but certainly not least, the food was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. I consider myself a connoisseur of southeast Asian flavors but the three times I've been here, I've always been let down. A lot of the dishes seem very watery and always miss spice and umami flavors. Customer service here however is very excellent. This family owned restaurant has always been welcoming and are always very nice! One issue here when ordering takeout is that I'm always unsure when they are there. I've called on random days and even though the hours listed say they are open, the phone always goes to voicemail and even trying to order online is disabled. Probably my new favorite spot. Went last night with my family and we had the Spring Rolls, Moo Ling, pineapple curry fried rice, Vegetable Stir Fry with chicken, and Drunken Noodles. Everything was so delicious, but I would like to shout out the dishes below: - The spring rolls were classic and delicious. However, they put their own twist by adding apples into it and oh my gosh, it was such a pleasant surprise the peanut sauce that accompanies it is delicious. - The Moo Ling (pork skewers) was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Whatever the dipping sauce, they serve with it as well is, it is out of this world. I could probably drink that stuff. - The pineapple curry fried rice was unique, but very delectable. The combination of the curry flavoring along with the pineapple fried rice expectations was mind blowing. Definitely a favorite. - The drunken noodles were classic, but delicious. I asked for it to be extra spicy and they brought me fresh Thai chili paste on the side and did not make the whole dish spicy. That way I could share which I thought was very thoughtful. - We also had the Thai tea and green tea from there. They are looseleaf tea that is brewed there and you can definitely taste the difference. Very delicious. They do not serve alcohol, but they are BYOB. I absolutely cannot express how amazing the service was. The gentleman that was helping us was very friendly, very attentive and had some great recommendations. He was very sweet to my daughter and had mentioned that he had kids himself and was very personable. He kept checking on her to make sure that she enjoyed her food which of course she did . I would like to start this review with why you should actually read it. I was the food and wine editor for Lit Monthly in Dallas for 2 years and am a hobby chef/cook. As such I have eaten in a lot of places and prepared a lot of food. Thai food is on the list of favorite food types because of its intense flavors and diversity. When I see 5 Stars on a review, I am naturally skeptical, but I now live in this part of the Metroplex and wanted desperately to find a way to satisfy my lust for Thai cuisine. I have eaten in several Thai restaurants and while they ranged for ok to good none made me want to return. Enter Rumdoul, an utterly un-assuming little family owned Thai restaurant tucked in a little strip mall. If you did not know it was there your chances of stumbling on it are nearly zero. I have visited Rumdoul twice and tried no less than 8 different menu items. This is rare for me to say, but all of them were good to exceptional with the preponderance being exceptional. The green tea drink is a don't miss, the Penang Curry was the best I have had in the metroplex, the Glazed Pork amazing, and the Chicken Stir Fry with vegetables absolutely perfect. I could go on and on but I will end this review before you get bored and just say DO GO. IT IS 5 STAR WORTHY. For those who are fans of fried rice, it is excellent. However, in Asian cuisine fried rice is not a main dish it is always a side dish, thus it does not contain as much protein or vegetables as a main dish. The reviewers citing a lack of ingredients in the fried rice do not understand Asian cuisine.
