After being gone for over a week, we finally made it home, and Jason surprised me with some amazing Thai food. We had been wanting to try Rumdoul for a while, so it felt like a double treat! Before we even walked through the doors, we were hit with the most incredible aromas coming from the restaurant. It immediately made us excited to eat. Once inside, we were greeted with warm smiles by Leona, who was absolutely adorable and incredibly attentive to everyone dining there. We also had the pleasure of talking with Mr. B, who shared his vision for the restaurant and how he wants it to be different. You can genuinely feel the love, pride, and passion he has poured into this place--not only in the atmosphere but in every bite of food. Following some of his recommendations, we started with the chicken gyoza. They were perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the tofu yellow curry at spice level 4. Let me tell you--it was SPICY! But it was also absolutely delicious. I can't wait to order it again, although there are so many other menu items I want to try too. Jason ordered the chicken Pad Thai. He's extremely picky about noodle texture and thickness, and he devoured every single bite. He ordered spice level 3, which was almost too much for him, but that didn't stop him from cleaning his plate! Of course, we had to finish with the mango sticky rice, which was my favorite part of the meal. I poured every drop of that sweet coconut sauce over the rice and mango, and there wasn't a trace left on the plate. We even used the extra sauce from the gyoza in our dishes because everything was just that good. There's a reason Rumdoul is sitting close to a 5-star rating. The food is incredible, the service is wonderful, and the passion behind the restaurant shines through in every detail. The food is top notch. We ended up coming here because another restaurant we wanted to go was full and had a long waiting time. But I'm so glad we came here and gave this place a chance. Excellent service and great food! Our server, Bee, showed me and my family the warmest hospitality from the time we came in till when we left. Aside from the hospitality and food we really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the restaurant. We got the pork gyoza and tempura shrimp as appetizers. The gyoza is absolutely delicious and I'd highly recommend it. For our main dishes, my wife really enjoyed the drunken noodles and I loved the Pad Thai. The garnishing on the dishes added a nice touch too. I'd highly recommend giving this place a try if you're into delicious Thai/Laotian cuisine and want to relax and enjoy your food. A family was dining & chatting, 2 other solo customers concentrated on their plates. The whole place is clean & neat, with old school cha-cha-cha crooner songs by cover artists setting your mood to "mellow". Vi connects with all of his dining guests, he enjoys feedback when he feeds you! Everybody is a repeat customer, Vi can recall what you had on your last visit! We found this place by happenstance and WOW are we glad we did!! The service was great, the waiter attentive and kind- we even met the owner/chef who came out to greet us, then later to make sure everything was satisfactory. The atmosphere was calm and the decorations lovely making it a nice place to enjoy a meal together. Last, but certainly not least, the food was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. Tried this place a few times and every single time, I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of flavor. I consider myself a connoisseur of southeast Asian flavors but the three times I've been here, I've always been let down. A lot of the dishes seem very watery and always miss spice and umami flavors. Customer service here however is very excellent. This family owned restaurant has always been welcoming and are always very nice! One issue here when ordering takeout is that I'm always unsure when they are there. I've called on random days and even though the hours listed say they are open, the phone always goes to voicemail and even trying to order online is disabled. Probably my new favorite spot. Went last night with my family and we had the Spring Rolls, Moo Ling, pineapple curry fried rice, Vegetable Stir Fry with chicken, and Drunken Noodles. Everything was so delicious, but I would like to shout out the dishes below: - The spring rolls were classic and delicious. However, they put their own twist by adding apples into it and oh my gosh, it was such a pleasant surprise the peanut sauce that accompanies it is delicious. - The Moo Ling (pork skewers) was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Whatever the dipping sauce, they serve with it as well is, it is out of this world. I could probably drink that stuff. - The pineapple curry fried rice was unique, but very delectable. The combination of the curry flavoring along with the pineapple fried rice expectations was mind blowing. Definitely a favorite. - The drunken noodles were classic, but delicious. I asked for it to be extra spicy and they brought me fresh Thai chili paste on the side and did not make the whole dish spicy. That way I could share which I thought was very thoughtful. - We also had the Thai tea and green tea from there. They are looseleaf tea that is brewed there and you can definitely taste the difference. Very delicious. They do not serve alcohol, but they are BYOB. I absolutely cannot express how amazing the service was. The gentleman that was helping us was very friendly, very attentive and had some great recommendations. He was very sweet to my daughter and had mentioned that he had kids himself and was very personable. He kept checking on her to make sure that she enjoyed her food which of course she did . It was very thoughtful and I truly did appreciate it. I will be back multiple times over and over again. I cannot give this place a higher rating although I wish I could 10 out of five stars. Hands down the best Thai food we've had in the DFW area. The dishes were authentic and very flavorful.
