    Karaage Chicken Bowl
    Bill C.

I started with four stars but It's probably only three. That said, I did enjoy my chicken bowl. I do wish it had been a little more food. My dining companions were less enthusiastic about their meal. One complaint that I did have is that the tea pot was crap. The lid didn't stay on and fell off into the tea cup. Also, by the time we did drink the last of the tea, it had steeped for so long that it was very bitter.

I went to eat here with a friend a while back and let me just say, this place is definitely one of my favorite ramen places EVER!! The service was a little bit lacking if i'm honest, but no one was straight up rude or anything in that sense, just slower service. But to be fair we also went on a pretty busy night so that could've been the reason. the prices were amazing and I would definitely go there on a weekly basis if I had lived closer to the area

We love to pop in here when the ramen cravings strike but we don't want to drive to Dallas. The place is super cute with a few small and bigger tables for guests with great decor and house music playing on the background. They are usually quite busy but you're seated promptly and our order was taken super quick! We brought our little one and got him the monster noodles ($4) and we got the deviled eggs and the original tonkotsu and all were spectacular. The only thing was the chashu was quite chewy and hard to eat so I just took it out of the bowl but otherwise the toppings were generous and the broth was flavorful even my 18mo loved it! If you're ever in downtown Rockwall this place is a must try. .

Tried this place for the first time this weekend. It was busy but service was still quick. The gyoza were the best because of the sauces they put on them. So good! The beef pancake appetizer was very good also. I did not care for the ramen broth tbh. It had a very fishy smell and taste. But everything else we ordered was really delicious. The best part was the mango cheesecake dessert eggrolls. Will definitely be back!

Been here once with my brother and sister in law, and knew I needed to bring my husband for our next date night! The ramen is my favorite in DFW, for sure! I've tried several of the appetizers as well, all delicious! The staff was very accommodating and efficient!

Ramen is on point! Love their hard boiled eggs, they are perfect EVERYTIME and their pork is well cooked and then grilled to make it crispy. Deliciousness all around. We've had many family member come visit us and this is our to go place and they all have loved it!

If you enjoy ramen, and I do, this place is awesome. The bowls are large and the flavor is deep. I love it! The wait staff is always attentive and the food comes quickly.

I can't believe we've lived nearly 3 years near Rockwall and just found this place over the weekend. The interior is so amazing, covered with some unique murals. Lots of seating space for this restaurant in the square. I had the Wontonamen Ramen that has stuffed wontons instead of chashu. So delicious. We had the Japanese deviled eggs for starters; also amazing. Stubborn Soda on tap. You can't go wrong here.

This was my first time dining here and it was a good experience. The hostess was very friendly and nice especially while explaining their current situation of a 40-minute wait and no seat at the bar to wait and have a cocktail/appetizer. We were seated and I will say our server was very efficient and helpful with the menu and her recommendation. Personally I felt she wasn't very personable but again super knowledgeable of the menu and the ingredients of each dish. My ramen was really good the broth was very flavorful and the pork belly had good flavor too. My wife liked her dish but had a few concerns about the meshing of a few flavors but I will chalk it up to personal preference as she ate the majority of her dish so it couldn't have been that bad. Glad we finally made it here no regrets.

Small and quaint with amazing food. It is hard to find a restaurant my whole family loves but this is it. Our picky daughter even loved it.

I am surprised despite the popularity, the wait was not long at all and we were able to get seat almost immediately. For the first time, we ordered 2 appetizers - shrimp tempura and gyoza, not particularly outstanding, but they came out fast! As we were diving into our appetizers, the ramen was ready for us. I had the Spicy Miso Special (with mild spice) and my boyfriend had the Hinodeya special with medium spice. I personally like mine better because it was creamy and super flavorful compared to the Hinodeya special. My boyfriend tends to get stomach ache and fee bloated if he eats too much MSG. But he didn't feel any of those symptoms. To him, it was one of the biggest indicators if that is a good ramen or not. For the second time, we ordered takoyaki and karaage. Again, nothing too outstanding. This time, my boyfriend had what I had last time and I ordered the Tonkatsu special (no pic, sorry!). Maybe because of the lack of spice, I still prefer the Spicy Miso Special over Tonkatsu (Tonkatsu ramen is always my go-to in ramen spots). Regardless, we enjoyed our meals very much in both times. I think we have found our go-to ramen spot in DFW area!

I usually have to share with my husband and that's more than enough for us. They have an awesome selection of cocktails here too, so don't ignore the drink menu. Not a problem since we enjoyed sitting on the patio and enjoying our drinks. The bartenders were great, fast and very friendly. I appreciate that before pouring my wine, the one bartender put in a lot of effort to buffing my glass. I ordered a plum wine to start, which is always delicious and sweet. We were seated a little earlier than 20 minutes, but unfortunately weren't greeted for a bit following that. They were super busy though. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable, and we stuck with splitting apps versus getting ramen. We ordered the shishito peppers, karaage, takoyaki, and edamame. To drink, we ordered and split the hot sake. The first plates came out pretty quickly, and were hot and delicious. Our hot sake took a while to be delivered, and we had to ask our waiter to double check it was still on the way. Then when it arrived, we had to fight off a bunch of gnats that kept landing on the bottle. I guess they wanted to party, too! The shishito peppers were definitely my favorite. They were perfectly coated in sauce and flavoring. The karaage was tender and tastes especially good when paired with the watermelon. takoyaki was served hot and it's a blast watching the Bonita flakes dance on the balls. The edamame, while good, needed to be stirred up because the salt distribution was heavy on certain pieces. We wished we could order dessert, but felt a bit rushed by the server. It was a little before 10pm, so we understand they're off at 11pm, but as a former server there's definitely better ways to keep up with the closing process that feels less intrusive to the patrons. Overall, we had a blast at Wabi house and the food was great. Maybe we went on an off night for service, but overall will definitely be back again!!

The noodles were delightfully chewy and the broth had a rich and full flavor without being overly fatty; I finished every drop of the garlicky goodness. The pork chashu was tender and the egg had a jammy orange yolk. The Birria ramen sounded interesting but a bit gimmicky. They also have chicken ramen for those who cannot appreciate the deliciousness that pork offers. The interior was cozy and upscale for a ramen spot and they have an outdoor patio which is nearly as large as the inside. The service was respectable but not noteworthy. Cons: A little pricey but I guess that's par for the course in Preston Hollow. $23 for my bowl of ramen after tax & tip. Moriya Shokuda is still my current favorite ramen spot but JINYA is very solid! 4.5 stars!

Parking wasn't bad either, there are lots and a garage nearby. However, the food itself fell flat for me. We ordered the crispy chicken happy hour special, which comes with a side salad. The chicken was on the dry side. Whenever I order Kaarage, it usually comes with a dipping sauce, but there was none here and that would've really helped out. The dressing on the side salad was way too acidic, making it hard to eat as well. In addition, we ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer. The takoyaki themselves were pretty solid, but the texture of the mayo was off. I'm not sure if they make their mayo in-house, but i noticed it was curdled. For the ramen, we ordered Jinya Tonkotsu Black and Creamy Veggie Ramen. Pricing is standard for DFW ramen restaurants, although *slightly* higher than some others (by like $1). The base ramen comes with a good variety of toppings! However, the ramen was just okay. The noodles are on the skinnier side, which I prefer thicker, chewier noodles. The pork chashu serving was small, and it tasted kind of old and wasn't that tender nor flavorful. The broth was just alright. I prefer soft-boiled, jammy ramen eggs, but the ajitama here was cooked longer than I would've liked. Ironically, I thought the veggie ramen was *much* better. The broth had better flavor, and they use different noodles than the tonkotsu, which were thicker (and exactly what I like!). Lastly, we had the matcha tiramisu for dessert. On a positive note, the matcha flavor was detectable. However, the tiramisu crème wasn't that fluffy, and there were noticeable amounts of undissolved sugar. Both the curdled mayo and tiramisu crème provide enough data points to suggest that whoever in the kitchen is responsible for blending/mixing needs some more training and attention to detail.
