We were served an exceptional meal, at the servers (Josh) recommendation I enjoyed the swordfish served with a creamy grits and asparagus side, and my husband had scallops with a maple glaze. We also shared an incredible wedge salad and delicious crème brûlée for dessert. The wine list is well rounded with domestic and imported options. The Charmant Chardonnay I had was served at the perfect temperature and paired well with the swordfish. This place is a must stop when visiting the orange beach area. Oh, and dining alfresco with a water & sunset view is the perfect complement to an outstanding meal.

Young lady at the bar could barely tear herself away from A couple of guys she was talking to give us a menu or the process to order and get our food. Very rude! Wasn't very helpful when we ordered either! Worst was the conversation we could not avoid over hearing between her and the two fellows sitting at the bar! OmG ! One fellow had zero vocabulary as every other word was the F )$& word, then was bragging and bragging about the size of a member of his anatomy and his conquests with the same part! Was so disgusting! The table next to us moved outside but it was way too cold so we hurried up and left! Other patrons coming in with children. Really? Place also dirty! Looked in the bathroom decided I could wait it was beyond disgusting! Such a shame as it council be a very pleasant place to chill either a beverage and watch the water etc!

It's the food folks go there for. The oysters were fresh and served in a simple appealing way. The fish was white and firm and delicious. The grilled shrimp they are famous for do not have a savory flavor, tastes more like they were grilled with honey on them. We were not expecting that at all. We did not like the 30 dollars worth of sweet shrimp. It does come in very generous portion if you like that type of flavor. Hush puppies were pretty darn good, light, nicely seasoned with good flavor. The Cole slaw was excellent. All portions were generous. Overall they are friendly, the service is personable and efficient! Ambiance is that of a local diner style, not fancy just comfortable. We liked everything but the sweet grilled shrimp. We are from the north and maybe it is just a southern style we aren't familiar with or used to consuming. The gumbo is pretty good too. They have great mixed drinks and they have one that is a salted caramel flavor that is really excellent. Overall: would highly recommend for a good meal and friendly service. Probably the best place we ate in the Orange Beach area.

My advice, find a seat, have someone order at the order window, then head to the bar to order drinks. The wait to order food took about a half hour. It was very quick to get our drinks. We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.

Views right by the ocean, an open themed bar, palm trees, and music. It's not a quiet date night spot; more like a nice waterfront spot to take your friends and/or kids. The food was ok. I had the Cobia BLT & fries. The fries were good but the blt was tough. The bread was also a bit stale. The coconut fish bite appetizers were a 10/10. Delicious. Wifey had the mahi mahi tacos which she thought were just ok as well -- again tough. She did not however enjoy the cauliflower bites. I personally enjoyed them. We had mixed feelings about it. Great ambience, ok food. May come back.
