Talk about a diabetes food over load. The food is all carb heavy, loaded with sugar, and doesn't even taste good for that matter. Service was sooooo slow. Terrible beer selection. Today is our 4th visit and certainly won't be our last. Each time the food was out quickly and was fresh and hot. Today we had Gramps and he may be our new favorite, but honestly,I don't think there is a bad server in the place. Being creatures of habit we tend to get the same thing each time. Great location, but the food was just average. I ordered an omelette which didn't really stand out to me. The drinks are also a little pricey. My girlfriend really enjoyed her pancakes and when back a few days later, and was equally impressed. The online waitlist is always a major plus for me and bumps any restaurant up a few grades in my book. I do not understand how this place has such a high rating. I am giving one star because our server was friendly and attentive. I had am omelette and it was rubbery and over cooked. The potatoes that I had were like eating a salt lick. My wife had the stuffed French toast and said the stuffing was sickeningly sweet. Neither one of us could finish our food and it certainly wasn't due to portion size. This place is over priced for small portions of terrible food. This place was great. Wonderful atmosphere and great location. The wait time is ridiculous both times I went (even though the second time we even checked in on yelp!) The hostesses were rude when we showed up to the stand 2 minutes late from when they text us. That and the fact my water sat empty almost the entire meal are the only negatives to our experience. Other than that our waitress was wonderful. The food was delicious. I"m not a benedict person, but since they were known for theirs I decided to give em a whirl. Not disappointed. Biscuits- amazing. I read a lot about this place before going and had high expectations. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my imagination. While the service was good & menu selection exceptional, the food was just okay. The biscuits were large and floury, no "buttery goodness" that I had expected. I had the peacemaker, which was the Chicken St. Charles Eggs Benedict & the Eggs Cochin. My eggs were perfectly poached but got lost in the big bland biscuit. The Cochin Eggs was topped with a bright orange sauce that looked like "fake cheese". My guest had an omelet with spinach, mushrooms, and onions which lacked seasoning and was flopped onto the plate messily. Hers also came with a big bland biscuit and a bowl of grits. Came here on Saturday - we tried to go to Biscuit Love but the line was of course long. I didn't even know Ruby Sunshine existed until someone else in the line mentioned it. We got on their wait list via Yelp and headed on over. So glad we ended up here instead!! The food was SO good (that biscuit and the cane sugar butter - oh em gee) but even better was our server, whose name I can't remember sadly. He was so friendly and warm, and told us the whole history of Ruby Sunshine, which we enjoyed hearing. He seemed like he took a lot of pride in his job and the company as a whole. This is a great place for deliciously unique food and great service. We moved down here from Illinois last year and this quickly became one of our weekend staples. They have wonderful gluten free options for me, my husband loves the Chicken St. Charles, and you are guaranteed to have a great time if you get Gramps as your server. The food is always amazing!!! Make sure you order "the peacemaker" eggs benedict so you get to try two different flavors of eggs benedict. For an appetizer get the French toast bites to share with someone. Ruby sunshine also has a great list of beverages. One of my favorite Bloody Mary's ever and their coffee's are yummy!!! The employees at Ruby's Sunshine are some of the best! Gramps was our server and so funny Gramps was Great at his job, but the best part is he make you feel like a friend immediately. Not impressed. Went for breakfast with some friends and was sooo wanting to like this place! Got there early, no line and was taken directly to our table. Karen our server was nice but she was terribly overwhelmed and we sat there for at least 10 minutes while a minimum of 5 people walked by never even stopping. Went this morning with wife, two daughters and four grand-daughters. The draw was the decorate your pancake for the grandkids. Our server (unfortunately I did not catch her name) was great. Very helpful and prompt. And service with a literal smile and one in her voice as well. Kids loved the pancakes and had great fun with the decorations. Wife and one daughter split an omelet, the other had one as well, and I had the Bayou Shrimp benedict. All was good as was the morning margarita. I found Ruby Sunshine to be "Fair" / not great, and pricey. I give it a C+ overall. The customer service in my case was reactive and not proactive - had to request silverware- had to request coffee refills (and one refill was tepid, prompting yet another refill request). The hostess was like the sister-in-law you're not fond of (cordial but not really welcoming) - and it wasn't super busy. I had the French toast (good and brought out hot), bacon (not hot and evidently cooked in advance), and a scrambled egg (good and served hot). Served to me before receiving silverware- bad deal- so, food waited until it arrived - Pet peeve. Portions were fair. Not a repeat for me...I like breakfast too much to endure mediocrity and parking scarcity that requires a hunting license. read more

Never do I want to give a restaurant a one star review but the food was THAT bad. I don't know if an ingredient was forgotten or what but it was actually inedible. My friend ordered cinnamon swirl pancakes and I ordered the original buttermilk and a side of eggs. Both our food tasted like straight powder from the bag, I genuinely think something was wrong. We couldn't even swallow our bite of food bc the pancakes were that dusty and chalky. It's a PANCAKE never in my life have I deemed a pancake in edible. The eggs I got were also over cooked to the point they looked like playdough. We instantly asked for the check and had to get food somewhere else. Waste of 40 dollars. read more

We've tried many different breakfast options like the southern breakfast, breakfast sandwich (great because it's on a brioche bun) spanish omelet, florentine omelet, everything is delicious including their biscuits! To give fair assessment it was a busy late morning when we arrived. We were able to be seated quickly as it was just two of us and we were willing to sit wherever, and the server was fairly punctual. We ordered our drinks fairly quickly, though they took a while to come, but we were slower on our ordering of our meals as it was our first time there. The server was kind and kept checking back with us, and even went over gluten free options with me. The issue comes in when the kitchen got involved. The food was subpar at best and lukewarm. Again it was a busy day and having worked in restaurants before I understand them getting behind and having to wait for the food, but the quality should not be lacking. When the bill came we were surprised we were about to pay so much for food that wasn't even as good as my untrained cooking. We most likely will not come back. read more

Let me start by saying I was extremely excited to try something different for brunch. After researching places to eat I stumbled upon Ruby Sunshine. I was able to check in via Yelp and I waited about 15 minutes which was not bad. My waitress took forever to even greet me and welcome me to the establishment. She barely checked in on me to see if I needed anything. After an extended wait, I was finally able to make my order and it took about 30 minutes or so to receive my food. This is what I got. A spoonful of eggs that had no flavor, extremely tough and hard bacon, beignets that were thrown together in the bowl, a tough biscuit with no taste,grits were bland, and a seasonless fried green tomato. I was extremely disappointed especially the amount of money you spend on a meal. I couldn't even finish my meal and I most certainly will not be back. read more
