chicken one better, while my husband preferred the pork. Chicken was fried crispy and delicious. Pork was flavorful and juicy. I love the hollandaise sauces on both. My only complaint would be that my poached egg was very overcooked - not even a soft boil - pretty much hard boiled. Luckily I love eggs cooked all ways, but it wasn't the same. My husband's eggs were also overcooked. Anyways, I enjoy coming here for the quick casual vibes.

when it came with a meal. I asked for ketchup for the potatoes, which were cooled off by the time it was received. I was even more taken aback by the incorrect temperature of my husband's poached eggs. He wouldn't send it back because by the time he pointed it out, he had eaten it anyway (see picture) because he was hungry. (The food had taken a minute to come out.) The final straw was waiting on someone to bring the check and overhearing a server complain to another server that no one asked her if they could open her f****** section. We paid, left, and concurred we'd have to find another place to eat breakfast.

I would've given this a lower rating, but there was more good than bad. We were also on vacation and I was just like whatever, not gonna sweat the small stuff. The good: Food was good. Best white sausage gravy I've had in a while. Food was hot and didn't take too long despite being busy. Reasonable prices and manager was very friendly, so was our server. Order the beignets and ask for a side of praline sauce for dunking. Trust. You can see how long the wait is online and jump on the waitlist, so we were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. The bad: The plates were not the cleanest.

new eggs, which didn't seem to be an issue, but service wasn't as great after that. We were completely done eating and still didn't have the eggs, but I understand the kitchen was busy and we never ended up getting them. I didn't ask, but we should've been offered some type of discount since that is literally what the meal was...biscuits & gravy with eggs, and it was both plates. We also weren't offered refills on drinks and the bathroom was a bit dirty. We still tipped 20% but were a bit disappointed, but like I said, there were enough pros to putwwigh the bad. 100%, we'd still go back.

The food was solid, and the service--especially from Marissa--was excellent. Unfortunately, the experience at the front was a different story. The two hostesses were noticeably rude and dismissive from the moment we arrived. I greeted them with a friendly good morning and received no response, not even a smile. They were also on their phones. Although there was no visible waitlist, we were told it would be a 45-minute wait. Meanwhile, an open table that fit our party sat in plain view, and we still ended up waiting over 30 minutes. Their attitude made it feel like they didn't care whether we stayed or left, which was surprising and disappointing. The photo below are the unwelcoming committee

We're looking for a brunch place and this spot came up. For me it was OK and I forgot to take a picture of my Florentine omelette. My husband said the fried green tomatoes he liked, but the beignets were overcooked. They did remake them for us, but they were still just OK. We also got grits, which are not pictured here and those were tasty. Overall, this place was just OK for me but definitely give it a try for yourself. Weight staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The overall vibe here is welcoming.

The Ruby Slipper, in a great relaxing neighborhood would be a miss if you didn't step in for a brunch. I was excited to see that there is more than two locations of this restaurant! It's a neat place where you feel like you are a New Orlean'ian local yourself. I recommend trying the pancakes. Had a couple of small orders on today's visit. The Halloween decor and relaxing ambiance helped calm some of the busy later for our day. The pumpkin latte and a simple bowl of grits made an easy brunch. We also purchased a red coffee cup!!

Friday morning early breakfast with husband. Parked in pay lot next door and walked into a restaurant with a couple of small tables seated and a large table with about 10 women. Took a minute to be greeted. This isn't our first visit (not sure where my first review went, which was a 5-star), but it was our last. There appeared to be confusion over who was handling our table. After a New Orleans kind of night out, my friends and I were in desperate need of a nosh, and we rightfully chose the Ruby Slipper to come back to this dimension. Haha. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, inviting, and just what you want when you're trying to bring yourself back to life after a long night. Our server was amazing! She was friendly, attentive, and had great recommendations that really made the experience. The food was everything you'd want from brunch: comforting, flavorful, and satisfying enough to completely reset us for the day. If you're in NOLA, do yourself a favor and make this a stop. The Ruby Slipper has the kind of energy that makes you feel both rejuvenated and right at home.

Word to the wise: come early!!! This is pretty much the case at all Ruby Slipper locations, but definitely at this location. It's bus accessible, or walkable, or you can park in the street no problem. There are no reservations and it's popular for large groups, so the earlier you go the better. The wait will grow. BUT the food is delicious. There are so many great options to choose from that you REALLY need to go a few times to try them all. I highly recommend the Benedicts. Our server did a great job given how busy they get, and I really love that they have mix n match options for the different Benedicts. A menu after my indecisive heart! The drinks are also very pleasant. I had a great Bloody Mary during this visit, but I normally swear by the Irish coffee. It's loud and lively, but a super reliable choice for brunch in New Orleans!

Ruby Slipper on Magazine has a brunch the just hits. The Creamy Vanilla Iced Coffee is basically dessert with a caffeine alibi, the French Toast Bites are sugary little clouds of joy, the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes taste like a cinnamon roll crashed Mardi Gras, and the Bananas Foster French Toast is full-on breakfast theater A must try Powdered sugar everywhere, happiness guaranteed.

Ruby Slipper is a fantastic place to get some brunch, when you're not in a rush. Weekends seem to be busy, esp with Mardi Gras weekend, and their waitlist had a consistent 20+ number of parties on the Yelp waitlist throughout the morning and afternoon. Our food took about 45 minutes to come out (for a party of 5) and we were starvingggg watching everyone else eat around us. The biscuits here were a highlight - Came with a sweet butter that was so delicious on a warm biscuit. Fried chicken sandwich (don't forget the hot honey!) plus the seasoned fries were wonderful and I would get my own next time. Pancakes were moist and filling. Trifecta was FILLING. Shrimp & grits were the only dish lacking IMO: shrimp was cooked perfectly, but the grits had no flavor at all. Overall it's quite loud inside with so many patrons, the servers were nice and prompt with requests after our food came, just make sure you join the Yelp waitlist... It was nearly 1.5 hours with how popular they are, and the additional half hour min. for fresh breakfast to get to your table.

I love the Ruby Slipper! I've been to this location several times but none of the other locations. My wife has been to several locations; and the one in the French Quarter is her favorite, but she likes this location a lot too. They have an extensive menu, and you can't go wrong with any of it. But, if you are looking for a recommendation: I would suggest the Peacemaker. The Peacemaker is mixing and matching any two of their variations on Eggs Benedict. My two favorites are probably Chicken St. Charles and Eggs Cochon. I should also mention their Award Winning Bloody Mary is excellent. Oh, and my wife likes the Mimosa Flight. Service is friendly and professional. Decor is cheery. Prices are reasonable. If you happen to be looking for a great breakfast and a relaxed vibe, I recommend the Ruby Slipper!

For my breakfast i ordered benedicts today. First, i got the wrong order so they bring me new one. Both times; salmon was dead cold. And the egg was cooked really hard. The only good thing about my experience was my server, Kendrick i guess. He was so polite and nice. Other than that not even one star. read more

Excellent The Uptown location was much easier to get a table than the two downtown spots. Fantastic Benedict's!! My favorite is the Cochon, super yummy. The tequila Bloody Mary was a great start too. Will certainly fit this place into my next New Orleans trip. read more

We came here for their Veuve Clicquot brunch and had such a great time. The restaurant was decorated so festively with bright orange and yellow flowers and they were giving out some swag if you ordered the Veuve. Shamefully this was my first time trying Ruby Slipper but I'm glad we checked it out. Normally I have a hard time at breakfast places because I don't eat eggs, but I felt like there were a number of things on the menu that I wanted to try. I ended up with the Costa Rican breakfast (eggs on the side for my husband) and was not disappointed. If you DO like eggs they have tons and tons of delicious options. My husband had a hard time narrowing it down to one. Also the candied bacon was so yummy. You can put yourself ahead of the line with Yelp/the no wait app so your table is ready to go when you get there, and they can easily accommodate large groups. We will definitely be back for another boozy brunch in the future. read more

Love this breakfast place I come to NOLA about once or twice a year and love trying all the great restaurants in the city. I stumbled on this place by accident. The food is outstanding and the service excellent. My wife had beef brisket eggs Benedict and had their cream bolle pancakes, OMG hard to explain how good they were. The plates are huge too much for the average person the bisques just big. All i can say is we had a great breakfast and will return next time in the Big Easy. read more

Overall a little disappointing. It's a big airy space and family friendly. Very casual. Service was very efficient so can't fault them on that but food was not great. I had the smoked salmon Benedict. The smoked salmon, capers and hollandaise were actually ok but the biscuits they came on were dry and hard. Not good at all. My side of fruit was very lacklustre too. A couple of pieces of pineapple and a few bits of melon. read more

A good spot for breakfasts. Apparently a chain but still good. Roxanne was our server and she was delightful. I got the combo half corned beef "Benedict" with some sort of mayonnaise like sauce and half fried chicken biscuit with a bacon gravy instead of hollandaise. I would have preferred the chicken to have syrup or be given the option and I would have preferred the corned beef to have a traditional hollandaise. The corned beef sauce tasted too much like mayonnaise whatever it was. That would have gotten this place 5 stars. Also the coffee was burned but we did cone in at 1130 so maybe it was this morning's pot. My husband got the special, a burrito. He said it was good. No remarks. Lol. All in all a nice, clean, large spacious diner within walking distance to the mansions of the garden district and the cemetery. read more

I found Ruby Slipper while meandering down Magazine Street, and I thought a late breakfast would hit the spot. I walked in by myself and the hostess directed me toward the bar. It was 30 minutes before closing and it was clear that she didn't want to have to wipe down a table for one person. I perched myself on a stool and asked for a water, but quickly corrected myself when I remembered I was at the bar -- could I get a club soda? When it was delivered, I ordered migas. My meal came out quickly, in a funky skillet-style plate. The bartender delivered my check seconds behind my meal. They really wanted me to eat and scoot. The tortilla chips under my scrambled eggs were terribly stale. I cut up the avocado and mixed everything together. There was no flavor, and with the stale chips, the texture was unfortunate. I decided to call it a loss, and pulled out my card to pay my bill. I was surprised to see that I was charged $1 for the addition of bubbles to my water. Right on. I'm still on the hunt for a decent plate of eggs in New Orleans. The search continues. read more

Awesome Food! Service! This place has a great vibe, and awesome food. Their food is all made from scratch, including their sauces and spreads. A good Brunch with mimosa will set you back $60.00 for two, without tip. But yes, it is worth it! Not your usual brunch spot, to say the least. Their dishes are unique, tasty and filling! My husband and i visted Ruby Slippers while in New Orleans for the Jazz festival. After our first visit to the cafe, we decided tobmake this our morning home base. Most notably the french toast, grits, kicking chickem and biscuits and gravy werr incredible. Out server/bartender, Ashley was a ray of sunshune as she balanced the bar and tables. Everyone was friendly from the moment we walked in. No wait for a table. Our server Jazmine could not have been kinder or more efficient. On our last day in New Orleans I really wanted to check out the Ruby Slipper. We got up early in hopes to beat the crowd of families taking their moms to breakfast for Mother's Day. I was able to get on the waitlist from yelp, which was a very cool touch. When we arrived we had a 30-40 min wait still but was told the bar was first come. We were able to score 2 bar stools minutes after arriving. Our server/bartender "I did not catch his name" was amazing and informative. He helped us decide what to order and it was all amazing!! I had such a great experience I purchased a T-shirt. This is a must stop if in the garden district. read more

This place is always great. Consistently very tasty. Sometimes when they're very busy (often!) they can be a little slow to get your order, but it's understandable. At my last visit there were 2 bachelorette parties and a huge birthday group, so they were really slamming. I've been to numerous locations over the years, but this one is my favorite. read more

Food is really good here. This is our second time here. First time I got the cinnamon French toast batons, probably my favorite! Second time here I tried the banana foster French toast. This was my first and unfortunately last time coming to the Ruby Slipper and it had nothing to do with the food. Our waiter Walter has a serious hygiene issue that made our party of 3 nauseous and sick to the point we could not enjoy our meal. I know that we were not the only one to notice this' I am pretty sure other staff members notice and did not ask this guy to go freshen up. This was totally unacceptable in a restaurant setting. Also, straws were not available apparently they needed to get some from another location. When they arrived one of the waiter reached hand first into the box of unwrapped straws with no gloves on to stock the straw holder. With Covid I'm sure he should have had gloves on. Horrible experience. read more

We were disappointed with our breakfast. It was OK, but it did not live up to the other reviews or our expectations. The service was good. I was looking forward to some Beignets. The ones we were served were OK. Later, we had some on Bourbon Street that were great. We had some Bennies at rhe Rubby Slipper, which are their version of an Eggs Benedict. Bennies are made with biscuits instead of English muffins. They were just OK. read more

We came on a Sunday morning right before Memorial Day. The place was packed! We put our names on the waitlist using Yelp and checked out the local area during most of our wait. Entire wait time was about an hour. Was it worth the wait? Yep! We had the Peacemaker Bennies- one shrimp boogaloo & one corn beef hash and the St Peters Fish dish. Both were excellent! We were here on Sunday for late breakfast. I should've known something was amiss when our waitress told me they were out of half 'n' half for my coffee. How do you run out of half 'n' half at 10:30 on a Sunday morning? I had to settle for heavy cream which wasn't ideal. My sister and I each ordered steel-cut oatmeal. It was undercooked and dry and bad. Our orders arrived without the accompaniments (brown sugar, dried fruit, walnuts, cinnamon) so our waitress had to go back and retrieve them. We asked for some milk to try to make the oats creamier but that didn't help (my sister had oatmeal at the airport during a layover on her way home yesterday and said it was way better than what we had at Ruby Slipper). Our waitress was magnanimous [insert eye-roll here] and didn't charge us for the milk. My husband ordered an omelette that was on the small side for the price and said it tasted "just OK." The grits were also on the dry side like the oatmeal. He did report that his water was good. read more

Busy for a Sunday brunch as you'd expect, but we were seated within 30 minutes so the service is pretty good. We ordered a Bloody Mary and milk punch. Bloody Mary was meh but the milk punch was delicious. For food, I decided with the St. Charles chicken biscuit. The pork Tasso cream sauce is an A+. I think the chicken could have been a little crispier but overall, pretty dang good breakfast Benedict. We also ordered the shrimp boogaloo Benedict which is served over a biscuit and fried green tomato. It was topped with a creole tomato courtbouillon sauce- which in my opinion was a little too "tomatoey". I would have preferred hollandaise instead but that's just me being picky. The shrimp were cooked perfectly however the eggs may have been a touch over-poached. I almost forgot that we ordered a side of bacon too. Whoa! We arrived around 9:30 on a Saturday and got right in. Service was great, but the food was transcendent. I had the Peacemaker, opting for the Chicken St. Charles and the Shrimp Boogaloo benedicts. Sweet naked Jesus. First, the biscuits. They're roughly the size of a baby's head and absolutely glorious. Easily the best I've had in town. Full of flavor and not too heavy. As for the toppings, both were terrific but the chicken was over-the-top magnificent. But I did not pick up on nearly as much chicory in their chicory coffee as, say, Cafe Beignet's version. Also, I have to let you know the other location in the big park serves a non-chicory version (in addition to NOLA chicory) that is head and shoulders the best coffee we had in New Orleans. I am extremely disappointed to have to write this review as a longtime patron of the Ruby Slipper. However, my experience today (3/18) at brunch was deeply upsetting. I have celiac disease, and upon arrival, I immediately informed the waitstaff of my dietary restriction. They provided me with their allergy menu, allowing me to make an informed decision about my meal. I ordered the migas and specifically reminded the server to mark my order as gluten-free. She confirmed this and even noted "no tortillas" on my order, as they are the source of gluten contamination. When my meal arrived, everything appeared fine. However, about halfway through eating, I discovered a fried tortilla mixed into my eggs--at which point I knew I had been glutened. Shortly after, I started experiencing symptoms and had to rush to the restroom. While I was in the restroom, the rest of my party unknowingly asked for the check. When I returned, I informed the server that I had found not one but two tortillas in my meal and was already experiencing a reaction. I wasn't looking for compensation; I simply wanted to inform her so that this mistake wouldn't happen to someone else with a gluten sensitivity. I fully understand that cross-contamination can happen, but this was not cross-contamination--this was direct contamination. Unfortunately, her response was dismissive. She told me that I should have informed her earlier. I then pointed out that my allergy had been clearly noted on the order and that the food runner had even reassured me that the migas were gluten-free. She continued to insist that I should have said something before she printed the check, but my party defended me, explaining that they had asked for the check and boxes while I was in the restroom, unaware of what had happened. I left feeling incredibly disappointed--not just because of the mistake, but because of how the situation was handled. As someone with celiac disease, I rely on restaurants to take food allergies seriously, and I was deeply let down by both the kitchen's mistake and the server's response. I truly hope that Ruby Slipper improves its handling of food allergies in the future to prevent others from experiencing what I did today. read more

While visiting New Orleans, we stopped by around 10 AM to put our names down for a party of 7. Big mistake, and we knew it. The host was so understanding and explained that it'd be about 2 hours and offered to split us into a table of 3 and 4, possibly near each other, since that division may allow us to be seated in 30-45 mins. We politely declined. We had some cocktails at the bar - the Ruby Slipper ($10, orange pomegranate mimosa) tasted more like a standard mimosa but still delicious - and waited. The bartender was also notably friendly and patient. After we learned that half our party went to the wrong Ruby Slipper and would be late, we told the host we'll take the two tables. They were so accommodating, and about 1.5 hours after arriving, we were seated. Three of the four of us opted for the Costa Rican ($12), which was quite satisfying. I didn't realize the crispy plantains were chips as opposed to fried plantains, but I was pleased with the half an avocado on each plate. In a mix of starvation and delicious food, we all licked our plates clean. Also, as someone who requires no less than 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning to get my day started, our waitress was very attentive and generously refilled our waters and coffees throughout the meal. Our friends for the other table arrived, and I tried the Salmon Benedict, which was rich and flavorful - definitely not a bad option. It was not crowded at this time. The waitress was pleasant. When she came to take our order, I told her I had trouble deciding because there were so many items on the menu that sounded delicious. She tried to help me decide which item to order. I ordered the Florentine Omelet and it was delicious! Melt in your mouth delicious! Someone else had ordered the Southern Breakfast and he said it was delicious, too. He sampled a bite of my Florentine Omelet and said it tasted really good. The prices seem reasonable. This was one of my favorite things about visiting New Orleans, my seat mate on flight in told me to go to Ruby Slippers so we went in for brunch the first morning in town, had the sweetest and downright cute waitress named Aurryana who suggested some amazing things I would have not tried. There were just 2 of us but we ordered food for 4-6 and everything was so very delicious! The iced coffee was so good I crave it a week later! The apple pie beignets were out of this world! Loved the menu where you can order 3 different eggs Benny and every single one was so good I couldn't choose a favorite. We ended up going back the next day and had a different waitress who was also so good but my heart belonged to Aurryana. The chefs put so much love into the food, the bartenders and baristas make the drinks with love, and the employees were all so friendly and kind! I typically never write reviews, but this was SO good I had to! My husband and I were greeted by a wonderful host who was very helpful in assisting us in understanding the waitlist. We sat after 30 minutes of waiting, but it was well worth it! Our waitress, Izzy, was so joyful and enthusiastic! She was inventive to our LOADS of questions and answered them patiently and with great responses, unlike some of the other servers at establishments, we have been to. She told me to get the Peacemaker with the Crawfish and Grit cake, and the Chicken St. Charles, and man was she right! My husband is a big guy, so he got the Trifecta which was awesome!! Also, we are typically not day drinkers, but Izzy hyped us up so much, and we both ended up down 4 drinks by the end of the meal. I even told myself to write a review about her last time I came; but this time really topped it! She has the friendliest, warmest smile and sounds VERY HAPPY to be at work. We visited 3 different locations for the ruby slipper during our trip to New Orleans. The atmosphere at the magazine Street location is laid back and happy. Dom, our server, was fantastic and extremely compassionate and quick. When my order wasn't correct he went out of his way to make my brunch perfect! The avocado toast was great, super flavorful, but kinda hard to eat. The granola was so delicious and a must-get IMO. Service was great and the vibe was very relaxed and homey. My one suggestion would be a couple more savory breakfast options, as most of the egg dishes weren't too appealing.

From the Sheraton on Canal, it was an easy eight-minute wheelchair roll to this hidden gem. In fact, I had passed it a few times because it does not have a visible sign yet, and the address listed online can be a little confusing (the actual location is 419 Carondelet, not 410). Once I found it, though, the experience was absolutely worth the search. The moment I entered through the flat glass doors, I was greeted by a clean, chic, and inviting space. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between modern and comfortable. And let me tell you, the three sisters behind the counter were absolutely PHINE! Beyond their beauty, they were warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating. Their energy made the visit even better. I ordered the Veggie Drop Sandwich and the Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast, minus the avocado (not my thing). After a quick roll back to the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised: the food was still warm, portions were generous, and everything was delicious. What an amazing find.
