The french toast were cold. The biscuits tasted old and stale. My husband had the breakfast taco which were stuffed with scrambled eggs but the taco shells weren't grilled and the toppings of pico de gallo & avocado weren't fresh. Just had the best breakfast. I literally cant ever remember better. Imagine that! Had amazing peach beignets. The best ever. Soo different and creamy than the famous tourist ones. Then has shrimp and grits with fried green tomato. Best of that I've had too! Came with a beautiful biscuit and I also ordered a creamy vanilla iced coffee and ate outside on this beautiful day. My waitress Jeney was smiley and nice and responded cheerfully to my cheerfulness and so made my breakfast perfect. The food is awful - I asked for a dry egg and the eggs was so greasy and the biscuit was stale and cold - will not go back to that one.

I was disappointed- my husband ordered biscuits and gravy-- limited gravy asked for extra gravy- they brought a small bowl of gravy. I had the Southern breakfast- asked for the eggs to be cooked dry - the eggs were so greasy and the biscuits were cold . I checked the receipt and there was an extra charge for the gravy! A friend and I stopped at this place one day a couple weeks ago (sorry I'm moving and trying to catch up) Was empty when we arrived but by the time we were leaving it was filling up. Came in on Saturday morning at about 11:30 and waited 30-40 minutes to be seated. Once sat we were greeted by our server and put an order in for an appetizer, entree and kids meal. Between 20-30 minutes later we got the appetizer which was drowned in oil/grease and topped with boiled pork balls. We asked it to be taken back, it was absolutely terrible. Our chicken st Charles came out and the kids chicken biscuit. The fries that came with the biscuit were about 10 fries which were soggy and cold. The chicken for the biscuit was overcooked, dry and had a bald spot from being fried too hard. As did the chicken on our chicken st Charles. Service was good and our waitress was very apologetic and sweet, food was absolutely terrible and super slow coming out. I hope they get some help and try to fix this for future customers. Things are too expensive now to just throw money away on them. The restaurant was pretty packed as expected and seemed to be kept pretty clean by the floor staff which again were all very nice. Alw crowded is the Ruby Slipper way but we don't mind the bar, so be flexible. The look is like every other Ruby Slipper, wordy but bright. Lots of info on their specials and history are posted. Nice free parking lot, good service but its Mardi Gras season and diners are also in competition with pick up orders. Service is good, but it's not super quick. Most every drink is strong and comes well before the food; so pace yourself baby. Not super cheap but fair prices. The grits tend to be runny and the French toast bites a little greasy but everything else is good. Worth it if it fits your time mandates. read more

I decided to try this place for the first time and came at around noon. It was understandably busy. We were greeted by our server quickly, she took our drink and starter order and then eventually came and took our food order. We got our drinks quickly. It took about 20 minutes for our starter and about 45 minutes for our food to come out. One of the other workers brought us our food and we had zero utensils. We asked the host stand if they had utensils and they said we should wait for our server, we waited probably about 5 minutes just staring at our food, winded up asking the bar for utensils and at that point, our eggs were cold. Our server never checked on us once. No refills, nothing. She came and picked up our plates, and we asked for the check. She came back with a piece of receipt paper of a bill and just placed it on our table and walked away. We were confused thinking that we pay at the host stand. So I went to ask and they said no, wait for your server... She came back about ten minutes later with the tablet to check us out. It was incredibly frustrating considering that the LOWEST tip option is listed at 22%!!! You can select custom but she was staring us down waiting for us to select an option. I work in the service industry and all of this was UNACCEPTABLE. The food was amazing. Was it worth the experience? No. Maybe we just had a bad server? I did notice another woman and man who were prompt with their tables. read more

First time here...had visited the magazine location once before...many issues with this location tho...first off...ordered the pig candy bacon...the bacon was soggy and undercooked...very disappointed as a bacon lover...ordered the breakfast potatoes on the side (recommend by waitress)...cold and undercooked....my wife's biscuit was hard as a rock...could've used it as a hockey puck On the bright side...My main course meal the Peacemaker and the rest of my wife's meal were good...and both had a great flavor...and saved this review from a one star review Maybe it was just a bad day for this location...but I won't be back (might just stick to my mom and pop diners for breakfast)...but will definitely visit the magazine location if I ever want Ruby Slipper again read more

Greeted upon arrival. This was my first visit to the new location on Veterans in Metairie. I often frequent the Old Metairie location. Ordered my usual, custom banana pecan pancakes, scrambled egg and grits. The pancakes were undercooked, batter was oozing out when I cut into them, the eggs were over cooked and scalded, but the grits were the life saver of the meal. I ate the grits and some of the eggs, a few bites from the edges of the pancakes until I got to the center and tasted nothing but pancake batter. I waited for the waiter to come around for me to show her the pancakes. She even said "ugh" when she saw how much batter was there. She took the pancakes back and they offered to remake them for me. They did not offer to comp the undone food or anything. Only said they would remake them. I'm not one to throw a fit, so I said ok and asked if they could make them to go, because at that point I didn't have an appetite. I have been to numerous Ruby Sipper restaurants and this was by far the worst experience. I will say my waiter was very friendly. read more

When your food comes out in 2 seconds it's going to be bad. Food literally came out 1 minute after ordering. Poached eggs came in a cup of cloudy water. Ordered Costa Rican breakfast with fried eggs and the eggs were so overdone i could've knocked someone out with them. Most importantly as another reviewer mentioned, the scrambled eggs were fake!
