I've been going to Shogun since they're opening. This last time the service was so slow sitting at the sushi bar. Then when I got home, my gut was not happy. Spent most of the evening in the restroom. Hopefully this was just a fluke and no one else experienced without our experienced. read more

I visited here for the first time yesterday afternoon. There is parking onsite which is always a plus. It was crowded but we were able to be seated without a wait. I have been to Shogun so many times, and this is the first time I've ever had their hibachi. I was happy with the experience. I ordered the steak and scallop lunch and it was delicious. The portions were very generous as well. The mountains of rice and noodles were more than enough, so I brought my leftovers home. I certainly want to mention the great service we had. From start to finish everyone was friendly and took good care of everyone at our table. read more

This was my 3rd time having Shogun but my first time ever enjoying the sushi bar. Their sushi is high quality. The prices are fair for the New Orleans area, especially for the quality we received. Shogun offers a large menu that is sure to make everyone in your group happy even if they don't want seafood or sushi. Drinks wise, they also have delicious lychee martinis and sake to enjoy outside of classic drinks/beers. They do online orders for pickup or delivery with doordash too if you don't want to dine in. I've done both. Very casual spot if you want it to be! Don't feel like you need to be dressed up super nice. It's really what you make it. Overall, this family-owned restaurant is a great place to grab sushi, hibachi, and more in Metairie! read more

Shogun has been in business for so long, and honestly, I was never a huge fan because everything seemed mediocre to me. I think of it as a staple in Metairie, where if you ate here since the beginning of time, you'll continue to do so because it's what you're used to. The hibachi section doesn't offer much entertainment by the chefs as other restaurants but it's good for people who aren't into that and rather just eat and go. Let's talk about togo phone orders. They're definitely hard to get ahold of. Constant busy tone because they're always so busy. It tests your patience, for sure. So why the four stars? Because I've found myself frequenting the sushi bar for their omakase. I'm usually not a fan of sitting at the sushi bar and rather a regular table but I don't think omakase can be ordered there. Either way, omakase is basically a plate of sushi, sashimi or whatever the chef want to put together. You basically leave it up to the chef to create your meal. It seem to be more affordable than other restaurants that offer it too. Service is always attentative too. So that's a plus. read more

Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.
