Truly delicious! I see why it's rated so high and considered the area's best kept secret. Absolutely every bite was phenomenal- the salmon sashimi was the best I've ever had. The clear and miso soups... really flavorful! The service was amazing. It's a small place with not much of an atmosphere, but when you start eating, you forget about that and it starts to not matter. We will definitely be back very soon. read more

Tried this sushi spot for the first time a few weeks ago and I was not disappointed. I ended up getting the lsu roll and a miso soup. I did takeout , and it was ready within 15 min. Prices were very reasonable. Everything was so fresh and the people working were so nice. The next time I go back I will be eating there and hopefully trying something new! read more

My son and I were looking for a good sushi bar to eat at and we found Okini Sushi Bar on Yelp. It's not far from my house so we decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad that we did! This place is like a little tucked away gem. I must've driven past it several times throughout the year and never even realized it was there. The atmosphere is nice, the staff are wonderful and welcoming, and the quality of the food was fresh. My son got the Alligator Roll and the Gyoza and I got the Alaska Roll and Metairie Roll. Everything we had tasted great. It was our first visit there, but we will definitely be back. read more

Friendly people! They are a small place, but their sushi was really fresh and flavorful! We got our food to go, and even though they went a few minutes over the time they expected with our food they were super apologetic. They threw in complimentary shrimp dumplings to our order to make up for it. You can tell it's a small family owned business. They deserve the hype! Will definitely be back!! My husband and I devoured the dumplings before I thought to take a picture LOL. Picture below is the deep fried crunchy roll and the Rock n Roll added cream cheese! read more

Yummy sushi restaurant ! Husband and wife in the kitchen while their daughter waits tables . They are all very friendly and personable. Fairly new to River Ridge, previously further down Jefferson Highway . Fresh made, better than any of the other sushi restaurants near us. We've tried a few different sushi rolls. Monster roll, LSU roll , and today Okini /Mango Roll . The rolls are large and filling. My husband and I split the order and still had leftovers . It was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Very welcoming, family-owned establishment with decades of experience preparing fresh sushi for the community. We enjoyed two bottles of wine (BYOB for now) with our delicious dinner - the salmon nigiri with green onions, sriracha, and ponzu sauce is a must! It's an off-the-menu item so be sure to ask for it. My husband's favorite was their eel nigiri as it was very crispy and flavorful, and the hamachi nigiri was also a highlight of our night. The service was also lovely! Can't wait to return with more family and friends! read more

Okini was recommended to me by a friend of mine whose taste in food I trust implicitly. And he was not wrong, and Okini did not disappoint. My partner and I split four rolls that were all delicious, we left really full and really happy. The family that runs this restaurant is a delight, so helpful, and so sweet. The service is amazing, the food is great, the fish is fresh, the flavors are fantastic. We loved it and I hope you do too. read more

Sake don is back! My absolute favorite place for sushi and sashimi. Every visit I have to get the tuna tataki salad and the alligator and red hot roll. Such nice people. We're so glad they are back in the neighborhood serving up our favorite rolls again. read more

Food is always great and the customer service is wonderful. Favorite sushi place in area!

The service was great. Both the servers and owners were nice. I went 30 minutes before closing time and ordered take out. I got my food within 15 minutes. It's a small place but the sushi was good. Definitely not in a location that stands out but is easy to find as you can see it on the main road Jefferson Hwy. The only thing that threw me off was the crunchy dynamite roll. It was different from any other sushi restaurants, their has Wasabi in it so it was a lot spicier and more intense than what I'm used to. So if that's not your thing, avoid it. I would definitely be going back read more

I hate giving a 5star review for this place because it's amazing, and I want it all to myself. Okini is amazing- from the menu, to the sushi, to the waitress and chefs- you absolutely will NOT be disappointed. 10/10 every time. read more

The food is remarkable. They have a large list of rolls, sushi, and donburi to try from. They also have really tasty mochi ice cream for desserts. They serve Japanese beer in chilled mugs, which is a really nice throwback. Not to mention hot towels!! The service is pretty good too. The young woman who is the server does a really good job and you get to watch the chef make the sushi too. The spot is a bit small, but it's pretty charming and reminds me of the izakayas in Japan. I definitely recommend it as the best sushi spot in River Ridge. read more

The service and food are exceptional! The friendly, serene atmosphere really makes this place special. The family that runs this establishment use to also own Sake Don's sushi off of Jeff highway that closed a few years ago, and my husband and I were elated to find out they reopened in a new location! This is some of the best sushi in the area! My family and I have come many times since they've opened and every time we go we try something even better than the last time! The service is also great! Don't listen to first reviewer 1 star and is a shame some negative Nancy took the time to step on a business getting going in an area who desperately wants this restaurant. The owners made clear and kind enough to disclose on their website to expect a wait and no alcohol license yet since starting up. And besides worth the wait. I have never gave a review in my life and this restaurant Okini is my favorite new Japanese restaurant. And previously was my favorite Japanese restaurant (sake dons) which my family has enjoyed for years and got to know the same family who owns and runs this restaurant. Always gives smiles and will remember you and get to know you over time. And if you don't care about everything I just said the food is 10/10 amazing and if you don't like this restaurant then there is something wrong with you and don't leave a review. Haha. read more

plan to Wait for a long time. DON'T GO HUNGRY. only one sushi chef. He will send all 8 rolls to one table before sending anything out to any other table. waited 45 minutes before receiving our food. waiters stand around doing nothing. They have no alcohol due to no locker license. read more
