    Emperor Roll

I did a DoorDash order and the crunchy salmon roll was as Buy1 Get1 Free. I did not get the 2nd roll. The shrimp fried rice is listed as having vegetables but there weren't any and the Philly roll as to be in paper and I was charged a $1 extra for it but that was not done correctly. The food tasted good.

Celebrating lunar new year. Great food and great atmosphere. Right here in algiers . Parking is easy. And service is fast.

Sushi is ok, location is close. Saw a great deal a few weeks ago for buy one get one free California rolls so I decided to order directly from their website. I received the buy one get one free deal and it was great. January 4, 2024, I ordered it again and this time they said "that deal is only for ubereats or DoorDash" and I told them that's not right for their website to display it... but they wouldn't honor it.

The food came out quick and fresh. We got the Fat Cowboy Roll, Crunchy, Green Dragon Roll, Crab Rangoons and a Pina Colada. I would go back just for the Pina Colada because it was so good.

I ran by this restaurant for lunch. I ordered a salmon skin roll, a shrimp tempura roll and an order of eel sushi. The service was fantastic and the food was so fresh and tasty. I love this restaurant and it has become my "go to" sushi place on the Westbank.

Service was fast and efficient for our party. I usually order the seafood appetizer with rice and eel and avocado roll. This time I ordered eel over rice and calamari. I will order it again.

Can't go wrong with sushi from Umi 2! My favorite is the spicy crawfish, spicy tuna, and rock and roll.

Pretty good place although I may not have ordered the best value for the dish. I ordered sashimi lunch special. Although it did come with miso soup and salad, the sashimi was only 8 pieces. And that was the lunch. I sure felt the inflation hitting the wallet! Other dishes looked better and seemed lot more food, but $14 for sashimi that left me not even half full left me speechless. That's like $1.75 per thin slice, wow I didn't think this neighborhood was that rich. The lunch total came to $26.83 per Go at your own risk!

I used to love this place but lately something has been off. It's like the sushi isn't fresh when it comes to simple rolls. I ordered the empress roll and was disappointed. The ginger salad and miso soup was fine. I ordered takeout.

Updating my review to post the newly updated menus and reflect on my dining experience. I knew that Umi was a solid sushi spot, but after dining in today, I have to bump up my review from 4 to 5 stars. Everything was super fresh, delicious and the presentation was beautiful. My server was also very attentive and nice. I will absolutely be dining in more often.

I had the peach Hana sake and it was quite sweet & refreshing on a hottish day. I ordered the masago sashimi which is always a favorite of mine. I just love fish eggs. Then I ordered the "Out of Control" roll and had them hold the rice. This restaurant really did it well, adding tiny sliced cucumbers inside as the filler instead of rice. It was quite refreshing and lovely. I loved the melding of all the various flavors in this roll. I love mangos with fish, it's simply delightful.

We are new residents to New Orleans and the Westbank and are still finding our "favorites". This was our 2nd sushi meal/restaurant . It's going to be hard for any other restaurant to compete! The food was so good! Wonderful presentation. And the staff was amazing. Some of the friendliest service we have experienced. We love our sushi in California... But this might be my new favorite restaurant in both states.

Kenji Omakase will be a new annual special occasion go to. Japanese Omakase experience and style, a one of a kind food experience where every course is a harmonious blend of flavors, textures and eye appeal. The sushi chef talks you through each course after he places it on you platter. I asked if these were supposed to be eaten by hand if you wanted to, he agreed most people traditionally eat these that way. The flavors were buttery and tangy, textures delicate and sometimes a small crunch with fried scallions etc. We had tuna, ocean trout that was Similar to salmon but a different shade of orange, scallops and finished with waygu beef. It was amazing with each course the flavors seem to improve. A great experience, if you are any type of sushi fan or even on the fence, this could easily make you a sushi lover. I give this a complete recommendation. Try Kenji you will be very happy you did. The ambiance was fun also traditional Japanese. I may have Mis-named a few photos but know they are all just incredible journeys across your palate, hard to describe, melting with texture and flavors.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I agree with the current ratings of 4.7 this place has (as of Feb 2,…read more2025.) To me, based on our experience tonight, it's none other than a super over-hyped sushi restaurant that only has a high end feel to it. Service: was decent. We arrived at the place 11 minutes before our reservation time of 5pm. Since my daughter works in the restaurant industry, as a politeness, we didn't go inside until 4:59pm even though one of the workers came to the door and unlocked it at 4:51pm. Once inside he knew we were the 5pm reservation. He was polite but somehow his whole demeanor lacked friendliness. Menu: Even though the drink menu was an actual physical one, the food menu is online. How strange. After scanning the QR code, we were hoping to see a good selection of food items. But to our surprise, the food menu is/was very small. Actually this place's main thing is nothing but "omakase" where if you choose to order from the a la cart section, the choices are so limited (we were here in town from Denver, CO. After eating some deep-fried stuff for the last few days, we felt that we were truly healthy food or salad depleted; just to clarify, we didn't show up to to this restaurant just to eat salad because after all, this is a sushi restaurant. We love sushi. And yet we were hoping for some decently sized salad. Unfortunately none is/was found on the menu. I even personally asked the guy to see if the sushi chef could whip up something but he gave me a nonchalant no.) We still believed this place could do some magical things so we ordered a bowl of miso soup, oyster tarter (lobster tarter replacement), tuna, salmon and yellowtail nigiris. Miso soup, for the price of $10, was extremely small. Also the entire soup was lukewarm to a point where the center of the small tofu pieces was still cold. Ugh... All the nirigis tasted fresh but I didn't care for the sweet sauce (mainly used for unagi/eel) on the salmon nigiri. Why?? I've never had a salmon nigiri prepared this way.) The only item that was impressive was the oyster tarter (not on the menu as this was the replacement item for the lobster tarter.) This was excellent where we could have easily ordered another one but at this point, we didn't want to spend anymore $$ as all items on the menu are not cheap here. We are a fan of yuzu. The only dessert item (once again, there is only one dessert on the menu) is yuzu tart or something like that. One of the sushi chefs informed us though that the online menu hadn't been quite updated for this so he said it would be a yuzu sponge cake type thing. We decided to give it a try. This, however, failed to impress us either as it was a very much average sponge cake, nothing more at all. We didn't order any drinks besides the water so the final bill was about $75 with some change. Well, tonight's overall experience of ours didn't justify this amount in any way possible. There was another sushi restaurant that had the similar ratings with similar location (when we searched it yesterday.) Maybe we should have chosen that one instead. Disappointed....

We started with cocktails which had fun twists in flavor. We ordered the Omakase and upgrade one fish dish to the Wagu beef ($50). I dug in, forgetting to take a photo. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasty, including some unique ingredients like ginger imported from Japan. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough. If the chef is reading reviews... switch the miso soup with a mini-ramen to give the meal more substance.

We got there a little before they opened but since it was raining they let us in and we waited off the side until they officially opened. Let me start by saying the restaurant is gorgeous! The ambience was grown and sexy and definitely gave fine dining. The waitress was pleasant and gave recommendations because I had no idea what to get. We got the bread to start and OMG that bread was delicious! It was buttery, with a honey flavor and 2 spreads to use. I wanted to eat it all but knew I had to eat an actual dish lol. My husband and I shared a small plate-the wagyu tacos. Lets just say I woke up thinking about those tacos I ordered a medium prime rib eye & my husband ordered a medium rare filet. His filet was perfect but my ribeye was overcooked. They made me a new one with no problem & were very apologetic. The new steak was more medium rare than medium but I still ate it and it was good but fatty. We shared the seafood mac & cheese which we both agreed was the best we had ever had. It was a huge portion so we ended up taking some home (didnt last very long after getting home). Lastly, we ordered the praline crème brûlée....another thing I woke up thinking about Im already thinking about the next time! 10 out of 10!

That being said, even though we were wearing casual tourist clothes we felt very welcomed by the staff. We enjoyed our experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was wonderful, the music playing, the staff was incredible as was the food. There was so much to take in as far as interior design. We loved it. We had some sort of steak, a starter and a salad. This was about a week ago, so I don't really remember exactly what we ordered. That being said the next night we tried a different restaurant with great reviews in the same neighborhood. The ambience was great there, but the food did not measure up. Immediately after that meal, we walked back to Morrow Steak to finish our trip on a high note. We shared the cauliflower starter again as well as a dessert this time - which was something I'd never heard of but incredible some sort of cheesecake that was purple. The first night we sat at a table and the second time we sat at the bar - and it was an equally wonderful experience. The bartender was extremely friendly and efficient. Again we were wearing casual clothes. Out of respect to the other patrons, I wish I had packed nicer clothes to wear but don't let this detour you if you didn't pack them.
