Pearl Salad - all tuna
Patricia R.

I visited the Pearl today and am pleasantly surprised by all of the recent changes. The renovation has really brightened up the space and it feels more welcoming. Along with the changes to the decor, there are also new menus, and happy hour offerings. I had the Pearl salad, and it was delicious. The tuna was so fresh! I've got my eye on the happy hour gyoza for my next visit.

Small sushi spot not far from my house. Ive kind of become a regular because my mom goes there often and I meet her when Im free. The servers are quick and attentive. They have the best egg drop soup in the city (in my opinion). The fish is always fresh and they have some creative special rolls. I love the crazy girl roll. They also have lunch specials and a decent happy hour.

The sushi was good. A bit pricey but I felt satisfied with the quality. The atmosphere was nice and our server was really great and funny. It is a sushi place I would come back to on special occasions.

Been looking for a good sushi place in New Orleans and well this is about my 4th place I have been. It is a neighborhood sushi and Asian food restaurant. The ambiance is real nice and the service was great. I came a little bit too close to closing, so was not able to try a lot of their dishes or sit by the aushi bar. They have a big selection of sushi rolls which we tried alien, soft shell crab and a triple salmon rolls. They were pretty good I would say, but since I like sashimi I would come back to check them out. Their miso soup was on point and their gyozas were better than the last place I went to. I do want to try other plates to see how their food compares to other sushi places. I believe that is a good family place and great for people that like sushi rolls. I will review when I come back for more dishes. Prices were pretty decent as well.

The BEST SPOT IN NOLA for sushi. Always fresh and friendly service. Never ate anything here I didn't enjoy.

Cowboy Roll

Was feeling for some sushi as there's not many food options towards the east. I came in at a time where it wasn't busy, but when I left it was packed. They do check for vaccination cards (so don't whine and get angry because you don't keep some form of verification on you or unless you're an anti-vaxxer). The atmosphere was in between chill/casual. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. I had the squid steak, tuna tataki, yaki soba, and a cowboy roll. My friend got the Don Bofuri and a roll I forgot. The squid steak was less in quantity than other places, but had a more unique taste (not necessarily a bad, but it stands out). The tuna tataki was yum. Yaki soba was the only disappointment unfortunately, it was very bland as if it was just cooked just to be cooked without any seasonings or flavor (I added soy sauce which kinda saved it, but I'd rather not have to do that). For the Cowboy roll, I usually don't order beef based sushi, but I was willing to try it and for what it was, I liked it. Overall, Lakeview Pearl was a bit average. It fulfills the craving need, instead of eating just to not be hungry. I wouldn't come here often if there are other options, but there seemed to be plenty of regulars here at least from my point of view.

Miso soup

Ordered pick-up from Lakeview because they had what I wanted and what my bf wanted: crab Rangoon & squid steak 5 crab Rangoons came with the order and were crispy and delicious. Miso soup was tasty, chicken fried rice was good but could have used more sauce as it was pretty dried out. We used the rest of the squid steak sauce with it. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the Tiger Roll we got, but I think I just picked the wrong one for my tastebuds. Next time! Overall, took about 20 minutes to be ready on a Friday night, not bad at all. Will return for sure.

Awesome Asian fusion place in Lakeview! There are lots of great special roll options and the fish is very fresh. If sushi isn't your thing, they also have various teriyaki dishes, fried rice, soups, and other classic Asian dishes. This place is always pretty crowded because it is a pretty popular restaurant. What we ordered: -Salmon avocado: this roll had large chunks of salmon, which I love in this type of roll. It tasted very fresh and came with 8 pieces in the roll -triple salmon roll: this roll is delicious! I love salmon and this roll came with spicy salmon and avocado on the inside and salmon, salmon roe, and ponzu sauce on top. If you love salmon, I definitely recommend this roll! It is everything you want and more. -vegetable fried rice: this fried was delicious and came with lots of vegetables and had a great flavor. -Sesame chicken: the sesame chicken was great but the only odd part was that the sauce came on the side, typically the sesame chicken I've had comes tossed but it was still good when you added the sauce. -miso soup: the miso soup was a great start and just like what you expect miso soup to be

I was underwhelmed. I am pretty sure that they water down the soy sauce. It was basically see through.

Very good food. I ordered some shrimp pad Thai. It was very good. Plenty of shrimp and crushed nuts and dryer peppers.

Kenji Omakase will be a new annual special occasion go to. Japanese Omakase experience and style, a one of a kind food experience where every course is a harmonious blend of flavors, textures and eye appeal. The sushi chef talks you through each course after he places it on you platter. I asked if these were supposed to be eaten by hand if you wanted to, he agreed most people traditionally eat these that way. The flavors were buttery and tangy, textures delicate and sometimes a small crunch with fried scallions etc. We had tuna, ocean trout that was Similar to salmon but a different shade of orange, scallops and finished with waygu beef. It was amazing with each course the flavors seem to improve. A great experience, if you are any type of sushi fan or even on the fence, this could easily make you a sushi lover. I give this a complete recommendation. Try Kenji you will be very happy you did. The ambiance was fun also traditional Japanese. I may have Mis-named a few photos but know they are all just incredible journeys across your palate, hard to describe, melting with texture and flavors.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I agree with the current ratings of 4.7 this place has (as of Feb 2,…read more2025.) To me, based on our experience tonight, it's none other than a super over-hyped sushi restaurant that only has a high end feel to it. Service: was decent. We arrived at the place 11 minutes before our reservation time of 5pm. Since my daughter works in the restaurant industry, as a politeness, we didn't go inside until 4:59pm even though one of the workers came to the door and unlocked it at 4:51pm. Once inside he knew we were the 5pm reservation. He was polite but somehow his whole demeanor lacked friendliness. Menu: Even though the drink menu was an actual physical one, the food menu is online. How strange. After scanning the QR code, we were hoping to see a good selection of food items. But to our surprise, the food menu is/was very small. Actually this place's main thing is nothing but "omakase" where if you choose to order from the a la cart section, the choices are so limited (we were here in town from Denver, CO. After eating some deep-fried stuff for the last few days, we felt that we were truly healthy food or salad depleted; just to clarify, we didn't show up to to this restaurant just to eat salad because after all, this is a sushi restaurant. We love sushi. And yet we were hoping for some decently sized salad. Unfortunately none is/was found on the menu. I even personally asked the guy to see if the sushi chef could whip up something but he gave me a nonchalant no.) We still believed this place could do some magical things so we ordered a bowl of miso soup, oyster tarter (lobster tarter replacement), tuna, salmon and yellowtail nigiris. Miso soup, for the price of $10, was extremely small. Also the entire soup was lukewarm to a point where the center of the small tofu pieces was still cold. Ugh... All the nirigis tasted fresh but I didn't care for the sweet sauce (mainly used for unagi/eel) on the salmon nigiri. Why?? I've never had a salmon nigiri prepared this way.) The only item that was impressive was the oyster tarter (not on the menu as this was the replacement item for the lobster tarter.) This was excellent where we could have easily ordered another one but at this point, we didn't want to spend anymore $$ as all items on the menu are not cheap here. We are a fan of yuzu. The only dessert item (once again, there is only one dessert on the menu) is yuzu tart or something like that. One of the sushi chefs informed us though that the online menu hadn't been quite updated for this so he said it would be a yuzu sponge cake type thing. We decided to give it a try. This, however, failed to impress us either as it was a very much average sponge cake, nothing more at all. We didn't order any drinks besides the water so the final bill was about $75 with some change. Well, tonight's overall experience of ours didn't justify this amount in any way possible. There was another sushi restaurant that had the similar ratings with similar location (when we searched it yesterday.) Maybe we should have chosen that one instead. Disappointed....

My spouse and I made a reservation and came in a on Sunday night. The restaurant is setup with a…read morelarge sushi bar. The main chef was not present, but the staff was terrific. We started with cocktails which had fun twists in flavor. We ordered the Omakase and upgrade one fish dish to the Wagu beef ($50). I dug in, forgetting to take a photo. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasty, including some unique ingredients like ginger imported from Japan. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough. If the chef is reading reviews... switch the miso soup with a mini-ramen to give the meal more substance.
