OMG! What a wonderful, unfound tasty place! We visited on 2 consecutive Tuesdays for a early dinner and were seated immediately. Very quiet but with several delivery services picking up to go orders. Server - V - is a delight and was very helpful with the menu, answering questions and making suggestions. First visit included Beef Negamaki - huge serving with lots of green onions and sauce. Yum! Crabstick Tempura, which tasted like I had been searching for since 2015, except it had just a touch more breading which means I won't be ordering it every time. We had the Angry Bird Roll and the FEMA Roll, both with soy paper. We scoffed up those rolls like nobody's business! SUPER fresh tasting. Best we've had since we moved to Louisiana. Quick refills on our drinks and quick check out. Second visit included again the Crabstick Tempura and the Angry Bird Roll, but this time we added the Burning Woman Roll with soy paper and a small chicken fried rice to go. (It was to go because we knew the rolls were huge and we would be totally full.) We did taste the rice before we left, though, and it rocks! And yes, the sushi was amazing and we were full. They have applied for a liquor license, which excites my husband's saki loving husband. If you're nearby, don't be put off by the location. Several things: First, they didn't honor Door Dash deal. Secondly, I get home to my roll and find plastic INSIDE of my roll (pictured). Lastly, I only picked up my order 15 minutes after placing it and the fish was straight up hot. read more

So I go Into this restaurant mad hungry because I just worked an 12 hour shift at the hospital. First off the atmosphere was a mess , dingy as I don't know what. Then ordered and my server was sweet and so kind but you'd think she hated my guts by the nasty ass food she served me. This place opened during the pandemic or right before and is very close to my house. I hope it sticks around for a long time! I've ordered delivery a couple of times and the food is always fresh. I've gotten the Funky Margarita roll, a lunch special with tuna/avocado and California roll, and twice the cucumber salad has been exceptionally fresh. The outside of the place made me think twice before ordering but I decided to go against my better judgement. The inside looks like a bar room off Bourbon street. I ordered 3 sushi rolls, 2 snow crab salad and yakisoba noodles. Plus side is the sushi rolls are huge!!! Down side is the seaweed that holds them together is weird. Meaning it doesn't hold the roll together, breaks apart very easy and it's yellow and taste funny. The mango on top of the Fency mama roll was horrible, tasted nothing like mango. The sushi is compared to sushi from a buffet. My daughter hated her snow crab salad. It's missing the sauce that usually goes on it that holds the crab meat together or something. Holy sh*t, im sooo full. This was delicious. The rolls are huge and have fresh, thick cuts of fish. This place is top notch with incredible prices and service. Stopped by after doing our swamp tour. Very impressed. I had the sushi lunch and my husband had the tempura lunch. Good portion sizes, fresh fish, very nice staff. My one suggestion is a wet sauce on the Cajun edamame. Something like a Cajun chili paste. read more

Absolutely horrendous. Nothing authentic. Read on and sway if you can but stay I'd you dare. Lunch kit Chicken katsu... My kids could make it much better. Soggy (old oil), no flavor, oil was old (batter was dark). Bed of steamed, white rice served under the chicken was undercooked (not enough water). The egg "omelette" that was on top of the katsu was oily and utterly disgusting. Something you would get at a cheap crappy Chinese kitchen that doesn't care. Takoyaki WTF .. did I just put in my mouth? Outside texture was chewy and crunchy... inside was slimy and undercooked... yup they deep fried this. Definitely the wrong batter was used to make this. No flavor, inside the octopus balls were slimy and grossly undercooked. Limited to one type of sauce. There are at least 2 sauces that you could offer and serve to your customers.. Sauce that came with it was like an eel sauce that had some ponzu and vinegar mixed in to make it appealing, aside from that the toppings were'nt any at all... this was obviously deep fried than cooked in a takoyaki pan....ghastly morbid effort FAIL. Baked half makeral Didn't get that order... must have heard me wrong or fat fingered the wrong item... instead I got a measly baked salmon that I haven't touched after one bite... no flavor, dry, undercooked. Zero effort. Beyond this... I am not sure what to say about this place other than get better training for the restaurant's cooks and if this isn't going to get better, you are better off spending your money elsewhere. I can speak about this because have I served at sushi restaurants, cooked in the kitchen, and also at the sushi bar for many years. Since then, I moved along to another career and every now and then I'd like to give new places a shot and support local businesses. But this was utterly disgraceful... i was embarrassed that I was served and ate some of this food. Especially now in covid times where most restaurants were suffering and still trying to put out great food and service. To allow such places like these to serve slosh and get away with it at the same time charge people money for it (overly expensive for poor quality of food)... I will have to bow my head and shake it as I steer clear. read more

I have gone to Jaf many times, but the biggest problem they have is the price of dinners can change depending on who is working. Sometimes there is no charge for a substitution, but usually there is a $3 fee, well yesterday to person working wanted to charge me $5.50 for the same substitution I always make. I asked him why he was charging me 2.50 more then everyone else. He just kept arguing that was the price. I told him I will just go back when someone else is working. I'm not sure if he regularly scams people out of a couple of bucks here and there but I'm guessing it adds up. read more

You have to try this place, they're a delicious a hole in a wall! They're menu is diverse and offers a lot of options and some traditional dishes that other places don't have. I went with my mom and we ordered 3 appetizers and 2 lunch Bento Boxes all under $50! They're portion sizes are bigger so you end up with a lot of food. Unfortunately I only took pictures of the Chicken Karage, Spicy Tempura Shrimp (made with real fresh shrimp!), Beef Tataki and my lunch bento box I chose the Crawfish Roll and Crunchy Roll- all of which was delicious! The best sushi on the westbank if not the city! 1st place I've been to down here that did not use imitation crab meat as filler for their rolls. There is a ton of fresh fish in or on each roll. The crab is used sparingly. You are paying for the fish for once! Also, highly recommend any of the dinner combos. Sooo much food for a very generous price. Soup, salad, tempura, entree with rice, seafood and seaweed salad, plus a roll of your choice all for under $20. The entire family was satisfied and we have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. If you are a sushi lover, this is the place to eat! read more
