Sea salt white fish sashimi, butter garlic scallops, kimchi udon
    Sa'Rah H.

OMG is all I can say...ok actually there's more. I went to Daiwa with my friend and his daughter after church and we totally pigged out. Since it was my first time and they're regulars, I let them order and they picked all of the best items on the menu. They ordered the shrimp tempura, spicy kimchi udon (my favorite), the butter baked scallop with garlic butter sauce (sooo good), Hamachi Kama( broiled Yellow Tail neck) with white rice and the sea salt white fish sashimi (amazing). I ordered the marine roll just because- everything we had was phenomenal. I was absolutely wowed and I'm now, a life long fan of Daiwa! This was an authentic Japanese experience and I can say that as someone who's been to Japan and had authentic Japanese food. We enjoyed a very calm, clean minimalist setting and food that I'll be thinking about until I can get back to the restaurant for more. My friends new knew our server personally and she provided excellent service. I would 100% recommend Daiwa in Marrero. It was phenomenal.

Daiwa had such fresh sushi and so many different kinds of rolls and sushi to choose from! A friend and I shared the squid steak and it was freshly served as soon as it was made. I ordered two rolls - one was a salmon roll and another was one of their special creations. A friend ordered a crunchy roll with shrimp that was topped of with lemon and it tasted great. Everything was so freshly made. In addition to their numerous sushi roll options, they also have lunch and dinner specials. The menu is huge so I'll definitely be coming back in the future to try some other items as well!

    Great foods

Foods are great, and the drinks are unique with diverse options to choose. Service is good & fast as well. Ambiance is nice, suitable for hanging out with friends, family and dating The cons: expensive than expected

    Yellowtail Jalapeno- better than nobu!

I've been here a few times because it's close to a friends house. It's not aesthetically pleasing by any means and there's always 1-2 gnats flying around every single time I go. The sushi is always tasty though. I really enjoy the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer that they have at this location. (They don't have it at the Metairie location)

The sauce for the Pepper Tuna is amazing!

We came for an early dinner at 4:30 on Saint Patricks day. There were plenty of tables and no wait, but an hour later the tables were filling up. The decor is lovely, creative and tasteful. Everything was spotless and clean. We started with a bottle of Pino Grigio, the edamame and seaweed salad. We are from the west coast and a sauced edamame was something different for us - deep flavor, spicy and so delicious. I could drink it. I suggested to our wonderful server, Josh, that they should make a bloody mary from that sauce recipe. Delicious! Later, we ordered several rolls. The Peppered Tuna, Tsurai Special, Softshell Crab Roll, a Rock & Roll and a Crawfish Roll. All were excellent - fresh, succulent, delightfully crafted and served with care and with pride. Again, the sauces - especially the sauce for the Peppered Tuna and the edamame are worth asking for on the side. We preferred them to the usual soy sauce and wasabi. Altogether, a perfect sushi dinner in a lovely restaurant.

The food is always consistently delicious there. Best Japanese fried rice on the westbank.

Honestly, Daiwa is probably my favorite sushi place on the Westbank just because the quality is their sushi has always been top tier for me. We try to go here every few months just because it's a little out of the way for us but I swear, any time you come here it's always so busy. The time before last that we tried coming to eat here, there was a 45 min wait and we ended up leaving but I still crave Daiwa sushi all the time! The last time we went there, the sushi was a little loose and kept falling apart on me when I picked it up and I didn't love that but the taste makes up for it for me. I always try and get it cut in 8 pieces rather than 6 just because the 6 pieces are so big to eat. I love that they have so many pictures of their sushi on the menu because it's really helpful in figuring out what you want. I actually hosted my bachelorette party in the back with karaoke, which was pretty great! I loved it and I think everyone else did too. Would definitely recommend.

    Ceviche salad.

I have been there two times so far. One time I was with a small group of friends and the other time was with a large group of colleagues (it was actually for an event). I ordered their salad but different kinds for both of my visits - Tuna Tataki and Ceviche salads. They were good! Tuna tataki and sashimi mixed were at a really good portion. The dressing wasn't heavy. I really loved it because I was able to have a better taste of tuna and sashimi.

Restaurant was appealing and good service. Howeva - the sushi was just like a C. You know what I'm talking about - that kind of sushi that looks very appealing and (when you first start to eat it) seems pretty decent but then as you go on you realize all the rolls and rice and seaweed have been made like two days before and it's all been sitting around in a refrigerato. And then, when you eat it, it's just sort of rubbery and intractable. It's not really "bad food" or "inedible" but you know that every other bite you eat is slowly eroding your taste for sushi away. You know if you eat too much of it you'll just never eat sushi again because your idea of it has will have become so mediocre. (I will say that the sashimi seemed very good quality aside from the clam, whose rubbery flaps were basically unchewable) Also, they put that abominable Snow Crab Salad in the rolls which is, to me, a low quality disgusting filler that I find insulting. I hate having to comb through the roll list hardly finding any without it. But if you are into that so it be.

This is the only place I can eat the ginger salad dressing. It's a mild ginger flavor and not full of ginger pulp like some others I've had. I always get extra cucumbers because they're always so crisp and fresh here. I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp. It was good per usual and it comes with lots of food. I will say, the fried rice was less flavorful this time but still good. I had more than enough to take home and have another meal. The restaurant is large and is sort of dim, but that works for me. The server was attentive, kept my tea refreshed and I really appreciate her adding ice to the refill without me having to ask. I ordered from the "all you can eat" portion of the menu (which is a pretty large variety to choose from, and is not limited to just sushi). You pay one price for an adult ($33.99 on a Sunday), and can order as many items and servings as you'd like, from the aforementioned menu. In my opinion, this was a great deal, especially for the quality and quickness of the food! Because of the above, I was able to try 5 different types of sushi rolls (you can choose either 4 pieces, or 8 pieces), and I'd recommend 4 pieces so you could try just about any/everything. There are also photos on the menu to help you decide, if you're a visual person. Here's what I had: Edamame (the Cajun + garlic seasoned version, which was $1 more) - it was properly seasoned and super good! The gyozo/dumplings were good too; I'd recommend ordering a side of teriyaki sauce, as it only comes with a peanut-type sauce. The shrimp fried rice was also pretty good, and comes in a smaller portion. As for the sushi rolls, they were all delicious, but I'll rank them in order of my favorite (all of them were speciality rolls) #1 Kiss Me roll - it was so good (the best sushi roll out of all 5 I tried) that I forgot to take a photo! This one comes in pieces of 5, and the pieces are even thicker/bigger than the other rolls. #2 Fleur-di-lis sushi roll - loved the shredded crab meat that was layered across the top. #3 Godzilla sushi roll - loved the shrimp tempura within, and the sauce that was drizzled on top. #4 Lion King sushi roll - this was pretty good as well, and had the perfect amount of sauce layered across the top. #5 Spider sushi roll - another good one, and the avocado definitely stood out the most (if you're a big fan of it).
