The forged receipt. I did not write this.
    Galvin J.

First, the food was ok but very dis proportion. I had very little food I had to order more food when others had stacked plates. They forged a receipt without my permission. They left us at the table for an hour without giving my family to go boxes. The service was very bad. It was my son's birthday. The cook was great but the way. It was the server/ manager that has a problem with paying customers. I'll never go again. The place lights is very dim and dull and boring.

Uchi Sushi remains my favorite sushi restaurant. I've tried others but I always find myself back at Uchi time and time again. Johnny has made Uchi special and the food remains absolutely fantastic. Anytime I'm craving sushi I only want to eat here. I have a few favorite rolls, but honestly, you cannot go wrong with any roll or dish you order. A few of my go-to rolls are the Six Brothers Roll, the Utah Roll, the Cucumber Sashimi Roll, and any of the Sashimi choices. The restaurant is open for lunch every day and open late. If you go during peak hours it can be a little difficult to park, but please don't let that dissuade you from going. The food is worth the wait for a parking spot!

This was the worst Asian food I've had. Don't come here. It's dirty too. Slow wait times as well

The place is very out dated and it has a smell to it. Should have turned around and walked out. The service should have been amazing considering there was only 1 other table with customers. Sad to say the service matched the inside terrible. We still decided to stay hoping the food would be amazing. We ordered the baked salmon, baked seafood, fancy mamma, sweet and hot, shrimp fried rice, chicken yaki soba noodles and superbowl. Lets just say it was a total waste of money. The only roll that was good was the superbowl. The baked seafood was a BIG NO, it had so much oil. Overall terrible!

I stumbled upon this place completely by chance, but I'm damn glad I did. It's easy to miss, but well worth the stop. They make all sushi to order, and you can sit at the sushi bar and watch them make it. The ingredients are fresh. The menu has a solid variety of rolls, and you can make modifications to the rolls (e.g., no rice, sauce on the side, etc.). The sushi chefs are friendly and engaging but not overbearing. Their hibachi is also very good and made fresh to order. Good flavor, not overly salty, and good portion sizes for the cost. They have ample seating and the tables aren't crowded too closely together, making for a comfortable, laid back dining experience. One of the sushi chefs mentioned that they're opening a location in Baton Rouge on Bluebonnet soon.

An actual cut up hamburger patty on top of what was supposed to be a filet mignon roll
    Chelsea B.

This place has rapidly gone down hill in food quality. Used to be one of favorite sushi spots. I ordered a filet mignon roll and they cut up a hamburger patty and put it on top. It's my birthday. I gave birth 2 days ago. I expected more. Beyond disappointed.

Be aware that the prices you will be charged may be more than those shown on the order sheet. When I questioned why a price on my bill was higher then on the order sheet, I was told that the prices had increased, but "the boss" would not put the higher prices on the order sheet. "The boss" was right there and very dismissive. It wasn't a lot of money, but it felt wrong. The order sheet is just a single sheet printed on a copier. No excuse for not showing true prices.

Special Lobster Roll Osaka Roll Super Bowl Roll

Uchi Sushi has incredible sushi! Everything looked great, but we ended up getting the Osaka Roll, the Super Bowl roll, and the Special Lobster Roll. Each roll was amazing and everything was extremely fresh. It seemed as if they were very understaffed with the amount of to-go orders and people in the restaurant. We had to ask for things a few times before it was brought over and it took about ten to twenty minutes to get anything you asked for (a drink menu, spicy Mayo, the drink you ordered). The food was so good that it still deserved 5 stars!

The sushi was okay, service was very slow, and everything was kinda pricey. There are plenty of better sushi options in Metairie imo.

Kenji Omakase will be a new annual special occasion go to. Japanese Omakase experience and style, a one of a kind food experience where every course is a harmonious blend of flavors, textures and eye appeal. The sushi chef talks you through each course after he places it on you platter. I asked if these were supposed to be eaten by hand if you wanted to, he agreed most people traditionally eat these that way. The flavors were buttery and tangy, textures delicate and sometimes a small crunch with fried scallions etc. We had tuna, ocean trout that was Similar to salmon but a different shade of orange, scallops and finished with waygu beef. It was amazing with each course the flavors seem to improve. A great experience, if you are any type of sushi fan or even on the fence, this could easily make you a sushi lover. I give this a complete recommendation. Try Kenji you will be very happy you did. The ambiance was fun also traditional Japanese. I may have Mis-named a few photos but know they are all just incredible journeys across your palate, hard to describe, melting with texture and flavors.

I ordered from the "all you can eat" portion of the menu (which is a pretty large variety to choose from, and is not limited to just sushi). You pay one price for an adult ($33.99 on a Sunday), and can order as many items and servings as you'd like, from the aforementioned menu. In my opinion, this was a great deal, especially for the quality and quickness of the food! Because of the above, I was able to try 5 different types of sushi rolls (you can choose either 4 pieces, or 8 pieces), and I'd recommend 4 pieces so you could try just about any/everything. There are also photos on the menu to help you decide, if you're a visual person. Here's what I had: Edamame (the Cajun + garlic seasoned version, which was $1 more) - it was properly seasoned and super good! The gyozo/dumplings were good too; I'd recommend ordering a side of teriyaki sauce, as it only comes with a peanut-type sauce. The shrimp fried rice was also pretty good, and comes in a smaller portion. As for the sushi rolls, they were all delicious, but I'll rank them in order of my favorite (all of them were speciality rolls) #1 Kiss Me roll - it was so good (the best sushi roll out of all 5 I tried) that I forgot to take a photo! This one comes in pieces of 5, and the pieces are even thicker/bigger than the other rolls. #2 Fleur-di-lis sushi roll - loved the shredded crab meat that was layered across the top. #3 Godzilla sushi roll - loved the shrimp tempura within, and the sauce that was drizzled on top. #4 Lion King sushi roll - this was pretty good as well, and had the perfect amount of sauce layered across the top. #5 Spider sushi roll - another good one, and the avocado definitely stood out the most (if you're a big fan of it).

I'm happy they had sashimi options because their nigiri is pretty heavy on the rice, but the salmon cheese was by far our favorite. My favorite sashimi was yellow tail. The scallop was interesting looking but still tasted like scallop. I really liked the fried calamari too. Too bad it was no meat Friday because I wanted to try the karaage. I wouldn't get the salmon skin again, maybe if it were crispier. Fried rice has a little sweetness overall good and standard for fried rice Stir fry udon was pretty typical tasting as well Soft drinks included in AYCE. Pretty decent price for AYCE.
