Stopped by on my way to the airport and let me tell you, I'm happy this popped up in my random search of restaurants. Very quiet, peaceful. Felt instantly relaxed from the moment I walked in the door. We sat by the bar and ordered a bento box. It came with salad or soup and a choice of white or fried rice. I came here one random Monday and I had great service and the food was really good! We started off with spicy edamame, coconut shrimp and Fuji wings. I also started with a Thai tea which was delicious. The coconut shrimp had a creamy sauce which was different but interesting. The wings were so fresh and hot and I loved the sauce on the edamame. I know sushi is in the name, but I consider this place a ramen place. It is a very WELCOME ramen place to the area at that. I would say it is on par with one of the greats in the city, Retaurant Union. We came here in the cooler months and it really hit the spot. The service was fantastic as well. And the retaurant is so very clean, on the larger side, and very inviting. I ordered the fuji ramen. The pricing is on point with other ramen restaurants, maybe a little bit less. And I loved it! That broth though! My favorite part is that you can add items to the ramen, like more eggs, fish cakes, corn, etc. I would highly recommend this palce to anyone looking for amazing food and service in Harahan. Food was 4/10 at best. Very bland. Rice was just fried with some egg. Steak had no flavor and was cooked to a quite chewy consistency when asked for it to be rare. The chicken, however, did have a teriyaki type sauce on it that was good. Veggies and noodles also had no flavor. I was the only customer in the building and I get why. I will give them 5 stars for service, cleanliness and food presentation though. It does "look" good on that plate. I can tell my server is new to the industry and is trying his best to adapt. Doing well so far, he's very kind and humble. Ok now the food.. we got pork katsu(curry) and black garlic tonkatsu. My was pretty good. Noodle had a nice chew to it , soft but not too soft. Pork was nicely cooked and seared. The marinated egg tasted nice, only downfall to egg was that it was a 7 minute boil, gooey yolk. My son had the kids tonkatsu and we added Naruto (fish cake ) and a side of shrimp tempura. For example, you only get a small HALF of an egg in your ramen and even though I said no corn, no seaweed, or fish - and even with saving them all of those ingredients they still won't substitute HALF OF AN EGG. Clearly they don't care about their customers and just want to pick your pockets. I won't be getting swindled anymore. Plus they charge you $4 for soda with NO REFILLS. It's disappointing how little you guys actually care about your customers. Hangout Ramen has better broth and appreciates their customers instead of trying to take advantage of them. There's no cocktail menu and alcoholic drink options are limited. Server was not knowledgeable about the bar. Decor was nice. Restaurant looked clean. Sauce on the filet mignon was a little too sweet, if I go back I will ask they not use that sauce next time. Entrees are definitely pricey. Bao Bao was very sparse on the ingredients, husband said he had better else where. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately. We got Thai tea to drink. It was good, I prefer mine a little sweeter but it was still tasty! Appetizers were Karrage and Takoyaki. The karrage was so good! Crispy chicken and so flavorful. I don't eat takoyaki but my boyfriend said it was delicious! Our entrees were the hibachi chicken dinner and the Fuji ramen. I had the hibachi and it was delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was so good. It came with noodles, rice, and vegetables. All were very good. My boyfriend said the ramen was very good. Very flavorful broth and good heat to it! We finished out with the deep fried cheesecake. It was very good. Warm and gooey in some spots and cold in others. I had a good experience here. I've been here twice within the last week. Both times were for take out. The person taking my order was friendly. The first time I ordered the shoyu chicken ramen with no egg and extra bamboo shoots. Overall I thought it was good. It could've used a bit more flavor so in the future will ask for some chili oil on the side that I can add to it. The second time I ordered the seafood soup which I felt was flavored well and was tasty. I also ordered the chicken bao bao which I also enjoyed. I was able to park onsite. For entree we ordered the Fuji ramen and the Kakuni Don. The Fuji ramen had NO flavor, the noodle was so bland, the broth tasted like nothing, the corn was not crunchy and had no corn flavor. How do you mess up the flavor of corn? The only thing with flavor was the egg, that was seasoned with soy sauce. The Kakuni Don had 4 different types of pickles. The pickles had flavors that I was not use to. It was topped with 3 THINLY sliced meat over a bunch of rice. It was sliced as thinly as a piece of paper. Not worth it for the price of it.
