Of course you can't leave New Orleans without a stop at Cafe Du Monde. Known for the coffee and the beignets. Now granted there are plenty great beignet spot but this is just a well know one you have the to visit. This location has a drive thru and yes it gets packed. The parking space is small so if you choose to go inside you will have to park at one of the businesses next door. This is a touristy spot so they offer coffee and the beignet mix to take home. The are very fluffy not to sweet and sipping it with some smooth nicely roasted coffee always hit the spot.

Not the best beignets I've had, but they were decent.. Quick service, but honestly overhyped. The beignets were just okay, not amazing like everyone says. The coffee was good, though, probably the best part of the visit lol

I had to go to Cafe Du Monde to try their World Famous Beignets. You order, cafeteria style. You have a choice of beverages. The beignets are 3 per order. The staff were helpful and suggested I tried their coffee with chicory. Be prepared for a bath of powder sugar, once you bite into the warm pillowy bread...amazing. It's an experience you can't miss

We had relatives visiting from San Jose, CA for the Saints and Raiders game and they've always heard of the beignets in NOLA but never had an opportunity to try them until recent. We got four orders of the beignets (3 come in one order...all were soft, sweet and pillowy). The cashier let us sample the frozen coffee which was fantastic. A little on the pricey side but it was delish so everyone ordered one. The service was great and the staff were super friendly. So, we ended up making a few trips back because they were that addictive to them and cheaper than getting them at the airport. The seating area was filled with patrons and seemed to be very inviting for customers to chat it up...cuz it was loud in there. Anyway, you can't go wrong with a Cafe Du Monde beignet!

Always Fun! Definitely a must visit! It's so historic you need to get there. Delicious coffee au lait and beignets, wonderful festive atmosphere, pleasant prompt staff. We stop in every NOLA visit and will continue to do so!! Maybe see you there!

Came by for an evening order of beignets and iced cafe au lait. Even an hour before they close the beignets were hot and iced coffee was good. The drive thru staff was very friendly. It was already dark and the April weather was nice. If we were not in a hurry, I would have eaten them in the outside dining area.

Of course, we had to stop by Cafe Du Monde to try their famous beignets and coffee. The line was long since there was an event in the city for the whole weekend, but the service was quick. Several tables were also available, so people could hang out if they wanted to. I ordered the Beignets (3 pcs) and Cafe Mocha. The beignets were so good. They were thick and fluffy; they tasted fresh. I love watching how they make the beignets. The Cafe Mocha was great, too. It was not too sweet and tasted a bit strong and chocolatey, which I liked. Overall, Cafe Du Monde is a must-stop in New Orleans. We visited several times because we loved their beignets and coffee. I even bought a can of Coffee and Chicory, and French Roast Coffee to enjoy back home.

Recommend: Unfortunately, there 'isn't' anything here to... 'recommend'. It's a simple, air conditioned, coffee shop with uninviting, lacking-customer involvement, bland, decor and hard seating. [**Cautionary note**: The sidewalk was heavily damaged, cracked, and steeply angled creating a challenge to walk on due to it's slant and unevenly broken slabs. My handicapped party member had to be hand-held to traverse it safely from the handicap parking spot! Someone will get hurt here in a matter of time so I hope Management addresses this.] There is a lot of hype here - for this place. However, I can't say this place was mesmerizing, fantastical or anything other than a historically appreciative, coffee shop that serves delicious Beignets. What are they? Basically, tasty miniature versions of Funnel Cakes if you were... laiden with powdered sugar. Diabetics; please be careful. A simple cafe, historical to the NOLA area but nothing unique, quasi-entertaining or remarkably impressive to say 'please go here' if visiting the New Orleans area. The customer service was almost non existent aside from ordering and as you have to take your trays to a little drop off window when done. Again, no customer service interaction. The coffee is nothing to write home about in addition, and sadly, that's it. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad per se here, but very, very overhyped and I digress, it's better to be honest and truthful here. If a blind person walked in here, they'd no better no this place than any other of the 1K coffee shops that might sell hot dough as a side dish. I wonder, truly if other locations are better presented, maybe, and I hope so. This location was lackluster to my entire party of 6 who visited this place on a Monday afternoon from out of state. You decide!

Finally came here for my self as an adult my mom has always kept these beignets in the cabinet growing up in Texas and now coming to the actual CAFE felt like connecting to a piece of my childhood I never really explored or knew the roots of! Service was very homely and welcoming like my great great great grandmas cousin grand daughter's niece was serving or something! Ambiance was nostalgic. Iced coffee was amazing! Definitely was cold for hours and hours on the ride back to dallas from my Madi Gras visit! Highly recommend!

Yay, I finally got to visit Cafe Du Monde on our way to Yellowstone. I ordered a small coffee that was black and very hot. I wanted to see how coffee with Chickory tasted! Yum! I also bought a bag of 3 beignets that were covered in powdered sugar. I was covered in the sugar and so was the floor. They were out of this world! I got an extra order to take with us along with souvenirs, a plate, a few cups and the cutest expresso mini cup. This stop certainly made my day!

    nasty dirty vent bathrooms horrible
    cherie ..

Truly disappointed . Wasn't all that and run down location. Beignets were just ok! Location was empty in the afternoon when we went. Staff was friendly that was the only upside!

Whenever you're in NOLA, it is a requirement to stop by Cafe du Monde for beignets. This location has both a drive-thru and an outdoor patio. Staff does a fantastic job of keeping this place clean, consistently wiping down the tables to ensure that you're not sitting in leftover powdered sugar from previous patrons. I much prefer this location over the French Quarter location since it's much less crowded, and the beignets come out quickly. There's not much else to say about Cafe du Monde - the name says it all and I''ll always recommend it.

IYKYK, beignets are the best thing since...well, bread. I do favour a certain "cafe" version on Royal, but I digress. Iced Cafe Au Lait is a lifesaver when the "feels like" is 101F. And a beignet is just the "sugar on top"... See what i did there? Yes, the beignets have gotten a little smaller, but they're still thick and chewy-so just consider it a built in portion control.

Im pretty sure its actually purple food coloring and not actual ube, the only reason why I'm not placing a 1 star is because the first time I bought a cake from this place, it was actually good (some coffee cake). This bakery made decent cakes till I tried YOUR UBE CAKE. If you want to copy trends and mix asian culture into your goods, then DO IT PROPERLY, or at least research on how to make ube. Try making ube jam instead and place it in the cake, that would taste WAY better. Also the yellow icy part inside the cake would've been delightful if it was cheese and not some random yellow piss ice. Ube is commonly topped with cheese, this bakery really missed the opportunity to actually be culturally on point. So much for Ube getting mainstream if none of these businesses get it right anyway. They always mess up asian cuisines and culture by making their "own version". Dont disrespect our ube broski (I can feel/taste the ube on the paste but it just isnt enough, it needs more) (update, i take it back. Tried it in the morning where it wasn't as cold. It was actually soft and spongy, the ube taste was stronger and it was quite delectable. Keep up the good work, i see room for improvement though)

I picked: a large fluffy maple roll. The outside reminded me of a croissant in the best way with some mild maple sweetness and the inside was moist, pillowy, and rich. I heated it up in the oven next day which made it even better. A square coconut roll... crisp and flaky on the outside with the most delightful sweet coconut cream inside and flaked almonds on top. This was my favorite. Will get multiple next time. And a pair of taro rolls. These I was most excited for as I love taro, and they weren't bad at all, but were probably my least favorite of the 3, purely because they had an eggy aftertaste. They weren't overly sweet with a nice smooth taro filling. I also tried a taro milk tea with soy milk. These normally include lavender too, but I asked for mine without. The flavor was off the charts good. Strangely it was nothing like the usual taro drinks I've tried and I couldn't place what I was tasting, but it was rich and creamy and so satisfying. Only thing that bummed me out was that I ordered boba and there wasn't any. :(

Why doesn't every single coffee shop offer the tiny ice cubes? They keep your drink cold, while they don't take a ton of volume away from your coffee! I love the chicory flavor of this coffee! The staff were friendly, and the $9 croffle, which came out hot and fresh, was truly excellent and the highlight of the visit (a tip I got from another customer, not the staff). Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. I ordered the Shokupan (Japanese milk bread with ice cream and strawberries), which the menu clearly listed at $13. I was charged $15 on the receipt. When I brought this discrepancy to the associates, they explained that the price had been recently changed and the manager was "not good with technology," making them unable to correct the digital board. I explained that having a misleading price displayed at the point of sale is false advertisement and requested a simple $2 refund for the difference. The associates stated there was "nothing they could do" and suggested I speak to the owner. The owner came forward disgruntled. When I explained the situation, he did not apologize or attempt to de-escalate. Instead, he flatly stated there are no refunds, told me the price was $15, and tried to reprimand me for not accepting his verbal price correction after I had already been charged. He said it's not a big deal, prices change all the time, all this over two dollars, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. The sheer lack of professionalism, transparency, and simple customer courtesy was staggering. The owner's refusal to honor the price they were actively advertising left a sour taste that no dessert could fix. To add insult to injury, the Shokupan itself was underwhelming and in my opinion, not worth the $15 I paid: just a big chunk of dry bread topped with a scoop of ice cream. While the croffle was a treat, I cannot in good conscience recommend giving business to an establishment whose owner is willing to cause a scene over a $2 error of his own making (although he eventually gave me the $2 refund) demonstrating a clear disregard for community and honest business practices.
