    Side of Bacon
    Teira R.

I have been wanting to try them for some time and finally got a chance. I ordered the Toasted Coconut Coffee Frappuccino and it was extremely delicious. The cashier was so friendly and welcoming, and so were many of the customers (if not all that I had conversation with)! I love this area of Gretna to begin with, small town feels right outside the bustling New Orleans. Beautiful to stroll with your drink from Amore or have at their outdoor seating area. However, I paid $4 for a side of bacon and received TWO small pieces of bacon. Yes the bacon tasted pretty good, but that is entirely too expensive and I felt like this is not good restaurant business practice. Especially in today's economy. Look at the picture!!!

Tres leches cake!!! So good! It's very cute inside. Sat near the front in the sunny area. Coulda sat there all day people watching

Lovely little bakery nestled in Gretna with spectacular service and an old time feel. They have gelato, desserts, breakfast/brunch, and coffees. The berry waffle is big enough for two and the breakfast sandwhich is basic but fresh. Definitely worth a visit! If you're into cheesecake, try the berry chantilly cheesecake. It's the perfect blend of cheese and sweetness without overdoing the sugar.

Always a great time at Amore's! The service is top notch and very easy to talk to. The drinks are out of this world amazing! Anything you order to drink here is great. My favorite is the earl gray latte, it's top notch. My wife and daughter really enjoyed the hot cocoa here. For decorations they go all out here for Christmas. It felt like stepped back in time to Old Gretna, like if it was in England or something, very cool. Overall we a had a great time, and look forward to visiting here in the future.

This is such a cute cafe. The employees are so nice and their pastries are so good! They have a breakfast and lunch menu. It was decorated for Christmas and had Christmas music playing. Definitely recommend for brunch or even a solo date.

Recommend? Yes. I got their avocado toast because it was the only vegan item they offered. It's a good enough avocado toast. The cafe itself is really cute so even if you can't eat anything here, come for a coffee and enjoy some good conversation or reading and writing.

That coffee shop is gorgeous, and the pastries look amazing! Everyone working there was so sweet. My iced mocha was pretty good, and it was decently priced for a small, local place.

Very cute and small cafe, nice size menu that offers lunch besides sweets. It was my first time here, my afternoon delight is sweet and good! Can't wait to come back and try more stuff. I have my eye on the crème brûlée! The staff was also nice.

I love everything about this place, but the coffee. I don't know if it's the coffee or the milk they use that it tastes funny. I tried the coffee many times with family and friends and they feel the same. The food, gelato, pastries, and ambiance are great! It's a fun place to hang out with kids. The service is great; the girls are very nice too. Please fix the coffee, so I can go more often lol I need a good coffee.

Cute, little bakery. The desserts are good. The gelato is yummy and big portions. Their customer service is amazing and friendly. They give samples of the gelato to make sure you like the flavors before choosing a cup or a cone. No waffle or sugar cones available though.

The drink was $7.14 which isn't too bad, but the taste is great. It's very refreshing and not heavy at all. I came on a Sunday morning and the inside was a little busy, so I decided to sit outside. They have maybe 4 tables outside with music playing so it was quite nice. One more thing -- i really like the cup lid. Sometimes you'll go to a place and the lid makes it really hard to get an even stir/shake but with their lid it's so easy as you just plug the top with a finger and shake. Small detail but it's something I appreciated. The matcha coconut water is a must try!

Dough Nguyener's Bakery -- 4…read more Dough Nguyener's really introduced me and my son to the flavors of ube and pandan... and I still can't believe I went my whole life without them. Like where have I been?! We are forever grateful for that alone. As someone who already loves Vietnamese culture through food here in New Orleans, this place just hits. Vietnamese coffee is a staple for me--not even for energy, but for the flavor. If you know, you know... that bold, strong, chicory-meets-condensed-milk moment. It's rich, it's cultural, it's intentional. And when you start adding things like pandan cold foam? Simple, but it speaks volumes about the influence and beauty of the Vietnamese community here. I respect it, deeply. Now let's talk about that Croffle... a croissant-waffle situation. I went with the Chantilly and berries because... you already know, I'm gonna choose what feels like home every time. The cream was smooth, the fruit was fresh, everything worked. My only thing--personally--it was a little heavy on the almonds for me. Still good, just my preference. We also had The American--eggs, bacon, French ham, hand-cut fries, garlic aioli, and a baguette. I shared it with my son and made my own little sandwich moment with it. Used the aioli as a base, layered the eggs, bacon, and ham... and I feel like that's exactly what it was meant for. Solid, simple, and filling. I've tried a few other things too like the bánh mì and donuts. The bánh mì was good, donuts were okay... not my go-to for that. But that frozen cocktail? Listen... it was TOO good. Took it to a festival with me and between that drink and that sun, I slept the whole festival away lol. Overall, I'll definitely be back. I still want to try more from the kitchen--especially that chicken everybody keeps talking about. This is a great spot for early weekend brunch, late evening studying, or weekday coffee runs. Not too small, not too big. Beautiful lighting. A really good addition to Gretna.

The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!
