This is my first time to Sucre and my expectations were high! They had late hours so it was an easy choice for a late night sweet tooth. The place is very simple inside, not a ton of tables but that adds to the simple feel. They did have a garbage bin that was overflowing which took away from the look. But the ladies behind the counter were pretty busy. I got a triple chocolate brownie and an affogato with the espresso ice cream. The affogato was a good serving size but it was a struggle to eat. The satisfying taste I associate with affogato wasn't there and the Gelato just wasn't smooth. The brownie was okay, I was expecting something more decadent. Serving: You order at the counter. Sucre is such a wonderful part of my memories living with a now moved-away roommate. Walking to Sucre on Magazine in our PJs and getting their amazing hot chocolates. Since it reopened, hot chocolate is displayed on the menu but never available. Anytime I've stopped in hoping for one, I'm told I can't order it. In general the vibes at this location are not great. Everything is so delicious here! The little shop is so beautiful and reminds me of France. They weren't too busy so we were quickly serviced and sat down to eat our cheesecakes. I've really been craving sweets lately and so happen to be hanging out on magazine. I see a bunch of people walking out of Sucré so I hit yelp and decided to give them a try. The space is nice, it's very elegant. The Customer service was awesome the guy in there was real nice. I didn't know what I wanted so I told him to pick. He did a great job with his choices. The Deserts; Blackberry citrus macaroons- Man this was a big surprise I've never really had Macaroons but this had to be on of the best bites I've had this year. Both of the flavors worked so great together. To me you almost get a slight chocolate taste as well. Anywhere I see Macaroons now I'm going to want to try them. Tart Au Carmel Chocolate- If you're a chocolate lover this is for you! Chocolate was very rich and smooth, the dough is real soft, and the Carmel worked well. The tart is real neat you bite it doesn't fall apart it stays in tat. Really enjoyed this. They have a bunch to offer and I will be back to try more. read more

Good. But not amazing. We went with basic vanilla bean, mixed berry sorbet and triple chocolate brownie. All were good. Sorbet was the best. But for the price, we expected more. It was 8pm and the staff was less than excited to be there. No greeting or niceties. They weren't rude, but they weren't trying either. Lovely decor. Very clean. $22 for two scoops and a brownie. Delicious French bakery! Macrons, gelato, cupcakes and more. We had confetti and strawberry cupcakes and I tasted dark chocolate and banana gelato. The buttercream on the cupcakes was absolutely decadent. The confetti cupcake had a little bit of macaron throughout it and sprinkled on top of the icing. The strawberry had a lovely, subtle and wonderful strawberry flavor. Nearly everything contains edible glitter, which makes it all sparkly and beautiful! Service was professional and helpful. My friend recommended this gelato place on Magazine Street to me after lunch. We parked on a residential street a few blocks away without any trouble. When I walked inside, I was greeted by friendly staff and an interior that reminded me of Laduree in Beverly Hills, CA, with macarons and stylish desserts on display. I can only speak for the gelato as I was very full from lunch, and the person behind the counter was letting me sample any gelato flavor that I was interested in! A scoop of the regular gelato was $7, and a scoop of the mango or pineapple sorbet was $8, with a minor charge of getting a waffle cone instead of a cup. I love getting sorbet at gelato places, so I went for a scoop of the mango sorbet. I have had better gelato outside of the state, but this definitely hit the spot after a long day of walking in the 100 degree heat in the summer! read more

Absolutely delightful. Key lime pie - The key lime wasn't too overpowering which I am not a big fan of key lime but it was really good. Loved the rich berry frosting layer against the fluffy cake layers. And the ornate decorations were just so fancy looking. Bread Pudding: Apparently they can warm this up for you, which makes it truly awesome. The caramel on top melts and the bread pudding gets warm and moist. It's kinda small by bread pudding standards, but it's the perfect way to get a delicately sized taste. Strawberry Macaron: Love how the external shell cracks while still soft underneath. And the strawberry filling is quite refreshing. Blackberry Citrus Macaron: Seemed a little more subtle in flavor than the strawberry, but quite delicious too. I have been wanting to try this place out but the line was always out the door. We came by around early afternoon for a little goûter. When it was our turn to order, the associates asked if it was our first time and really went I to depth on their menu. The one associate (curly hair and glasses) was extremely bubbly and so sweet! I wanted to try some new things here so I ordered the strawberry layered cake and the Lavender London Fog latte. The flavor of the cake and the tea was exactly what everyone needs in the afternoon. Once we got our order I asked for a cup of warm water to warm up my daughters bottle and again, they were so attentive and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough! Ordered a king cake for Mardi Gras and it tasted decent. Never had one before and have always been curious what a king cake would taste like. Now I know. Basically, it's like eating a giant cinnamon roll, except not quite as good as one from Cinnabon. I like the look of the shiny sprinkles on top; definitely color appropriate for Mardi Gras. We stopped in to grab some sweet treats! This store is located in the heart of the French Quarters and was a beautiful shop. The shop is beautiful, cozy, and inviting! They have various pastries, treats, gelato, and products that you can purchase. I only tried the macarons and some of the cakes. They had a special going on if you buy a certain amount of treats, you get a discounted tote bag, which was adorable! Everything tasted good, it was just a bit expensive for the little pastries. Everything was made well and tasted great, I would recommend for the sweet treats if you're looking for unique treats and something tasty. Loved, loved, LOVED this little gem!! The place itself was lovely!! Ot was like walking into a little corner cafe in France. Brought back memories. It's simple yet elegant design was refreshing. It was also immaculate! Which pulled together the clean crisp look. The two young ladies who worked there were BEYOND sweet and helpful! They allowed us to try all of the flavors we wanted and couldn't have been more courteous. We decided on a vanilla, a cafe au lait, a cookies and cream, and a red velvet cupcake. (There were 4 of us) All of these were DELICIOUS!! The gelato here is truly fantastic! Hubby and grandson devoured the cupcake as well. Even our VERY picky eater 3 year old grand ate her gelato!! Which was honestly a surprise. She barely eats anything and doesn't like ice cream! She refused to let us even sit it in the table at one point! lol Anyway, This little peaceful spot should be a must if you're in the area. So glad they recovered from the whole sexual harassment issues from several years ago. Kudos to the new owners. Sucre has always been a delightful shop. The ambiance, from the decor to the packaging (bags and boxes), is top notch! The service today was excellent. I'm sorry that I didn't get the team member's name, but she was bubbly, knowledgeable and personable. She appears to be passionate about her work. She's a great salesperson without being pushy. When I inquired about a pastry, she described it with so much passion and authenticity. Full transparency, I wasn't a fan of the gelato when the original shop opened many years ago. I thought it was ok and overpriced. I didn't have gelato today, but macarons instead. I also bought a chocolate chip cookie and a cookies n cream cupcake. The cookie was good, crispy around the edges and chewy in the center. It's not worth $5, though. This isn't a Levain Bakery cookie. Sadly, the cupcake was just ok. I've had the same quality from Rouses. I dare say it's about what you'd get from Sam's, but at ten times the cost ($6.00). It's a jumbo cupcake, but I recommend getting your cupcake fix at Cupcake Collection down the street. The macarons, however, were the highlight of the day. I ordered blackberry, almond, vanilla and strawberry. With the exception of the vanilla, the flavors were spot on. They were delicious. The flavor of the vanilla was muted, but were vibrant for the remaining flavors. The almond was my favorite. I love almost anything with almond cream, extract, etc. The macarons were pretty and shiny, and had a light, crispy texture. I appreciated the additional layer of crunch these had. I'm not a macaron connoisseur, so I don't know what the texture should be like, but I tried some from Haydel's (a block away) and O'Delice today and Sucre was the best, hands down. The creamy filling was fruity and tasty. Also, Sucre sold them for $2.75 ea, while they were $2.50 and $1.79 ea from Haydel's and O'Delice, respectively. If you buy 8 macarons from Sucre, they come in the cutest gift box. It's a no-brainer. I'll gladly pay more because Sucre is an experience. The other places don't come close in terms of service, ambiance and quality. read more

This is an adorable European bakery serving macarons, gelato and elegant desserts. I tried a couple macarons and a cookies and cream cupcake, both which were exquisite. The macarons were rich enough to hit the spot and the cupcake was light and airy enough that it didn't feel heavy and dense.
