The Pink Lady I purchased tonight had literal mold all over it.

If I could give 0 I would. Went here after dinner to get a sweet treat. Lady behind the counter was so sweet and personable. BUT I Bit into my cake and thought it tasted weird. Flipped it over and found mold all over it. Spent $18 just to have to throw up and throw away.

Very unprofessional.

Delicious and beautiful latte. The price is right. Great service too. There is plenty of seating in the light-filled space. I did not venture to the patio out back, but there is seating there too.

This French bakery offers authentic pastries, hand-made croissants, brunch fare, & espresso drinks. The high-ceilings, white tile, and marble tabletops emit a European café vibe. There is also a charming courtyard if you want to soak in some sunshine. I first learned about this bakery when staying at the Hotel Villa Convento across the street. They served their buttery rich croissants as part of their continental breakfast. (I'm not sure if they still do.) Now that I have a house in the Quarter, I take a morning stroll over here to pick up croissants to take home. The butter croissants are a bargain at $3.50. I also love the chocolate & almond (both are $3.95 each), as well as the crisp & flaky Palmiers & delicate Almond Florentines. When I have guests, I bring them back a Ham & Cheese Croissant - a bargain at $5.50. They always ask me to bring another the next day.

And when Mardi Gras Day rolled around a couple weeks later, as per my tradition, we had brunch here. They were out of quite a few bottles, but there was still a wide selection. The service was very thoughtful, with the owner serving most of the tables herself. She was even kind enough to give us free glasses of Champagne while our bottle cooled. You will feel cared for here. The real standout though was the food. We had caviar topped deviled eggs, caviar serving, and a wheel of deliciously melted cheese. Everything was gorgeously presented and Instagram worthy. The deviled eggs were incredible. My sister said they were one of the best things she's eaten and she's not a fan of deviled eggs. The caviar was great (of course). The cheese was also excellent and included dates that were remarkably good. The ambiance is very cute. Simple and clean aesthetics that are refined but lightly adorned. This is my 7th time visiting NOLA, and Effervescence is now one of my favorite places in NOLA.

Bad: My wife is pregnant and we generally try to avoid undercooked meat as an added safety. 2 of the 3 first course options aren't fully cooked - which limited her options. I called in advance to ask if they could accommodate and offer at least one additional safe option as a first course and they assured me they could- specifically saying the chef would offer something different for her needs. When we mentioned this to the server, she was pretty curt (read rude) and explained she couldn't accommodate. And the "best she could do" was offer two second course options. But the tone and demeanor felt a bit like she had to explain to us how a prix fixe menu works- it was a tad condescending. This was the start of dinner and kind of soured the evening for me. Everyone else was great, but I was stunned at the tone, demeanor, and condescension displayed by that particular server. Wouldn't go back as a result.

For our fourth wedding anniversary, we chose the four-course menu and had a true five-star experience. From the amuse-bouche to the final case of sweet treats after dinner, every presentation and flavor was exceptional. Restaurant August excels at hospitality, and the dining room's warm tones create an inviting atmosphere, especially after sunset when the chandeliers and candlelight begin to glow. We also appreciated how thoughtfully the wines by the glass paired with the menu options. Honestly, we struggled to choose a favorite dish because every course was memorable and beautifully executed! Thank you, Restaurant August, for such a wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary. We will absolutely recommend this restaurant for years to come and hope to return again someday.

Emeril was bursting onto the TV scene as a national phenomenon... and my first visit to Emeril's would be followed by many others over the years. New Orleans... Las Vegas... Orlando (many times). They were always terrific. Yet none were quite like my recent visit to the "new" Emeril's experience, featuring a rebuilt dining room, an elevated tasting menu only, and now directed by Emeril's uber-talented son, E.J. Lagasse. The room is beautiful, everyone's dressed to match the refined atmosphere, and when the reservation advised to "allow 3.5 hours for the full dining experience", they meant it! It's a six-course powerhouse dinner, and the listed dishes are just the start. Endless surprises come from all directions, with multiple servers bringing all sorts of delights from start to finish. Many pay homage to classic New Orleans dishes, such as a bite-sized barbecue shrimp tart, or a seafood almondine. As you dine, it's fascinating to watch the entire open kitchen right through clear floor-to-ceiling glass, with E.J. supervising it all at the pass, as he and his team prepare every morsel meticulously. Just a few of the dishes I enjoyed... The Smoked Salmon Cheesecake - Petrossian Kaluga Caviar, Dill Oyster Stew - Herbsaint Cream, Foie Gras, Hon-Shimeji Mushrooms Trout Almondine - Green Beans, Potato Red Snapper & Scallop - Kaluga Caviar, Smoked Chicken, Radicchio Boudin - Collard Greens, Hamhock, Creole Jus Gras White Sand Homestead Duck - Beets, Kumquat, Fennel SnoBall, Banana Cream Pie, Caramel As my meal came to a close, I was blown away when E.J. came out and we had a nice chat for five minutes or so. What a talented, funny and kind young man. And hats off to his remarkable team, led by Emilie Van Dyke - Chef de Cuisine; Riley McDonnell - Executive Sous Chef; and Charlie Jarrett - Sous Chef. Overall, I'd say perfect food, perfect wine-pairing, perfect service. Emeril's deserves their 2 Michelin stars. I cannot recommend it highly enough for a special occasion dinner.

We had not shared any meals together for over 48 hours prior to this dinner. Approximately 8 hours after eating, we were both violently ill and vomiting by around 1:30 a.m. I contacted management afterward to make them aware of what happened. The response I received was, "We're sorry you feel this way and we are starting an internal investigation." There was no apology or meaningful concern expressed during the call. The overall interaction felt defensive and dismissive from the beginning. As someone working in the industry, I was surprised by the lack of empathy and basic hospitality shown when we reported becoming seriously ill after dining there. This was the worst dining experience I have had, not only because of the illness afterward but also because of how the situation was handled.
