The food was impeccable. We did a four course meal at $125 per person. The options were out of this world things we've never had before. The Service was equally as amazing. It felt like we were teleported to some Parisian restaurant. They came around with compliments of the Chef twice and their attention to detail in the decor in restaurant was amazing.

We dined here for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! It's small plates but after all the course, you are satisfied and comfortably full. Beautiful decor and setting - very intimate and romantic. We amuse bouche which was divine. There were two other small bites equally tasty before the 4 course began. I had the tuna tiradito and my husband had the steak tartare. I then had the black and blue gnocchi while he had the scallop (yes it was just one large one but delicious). For the third course I had a flavorful Wagyu while he had the snapper. Dessert was a tasty milk, tea, & honey lemon cake while he had the hummingbird cake - mine was definitely the favorite of the two but both were nice. Service was exceptional and constant. Highly recommend for a special occasion - not Cajun slanted but a very nice and enjoyable way to celebrate an anniversary!

Man, we almost missed out on August. This ended up being our last meal of the trip and honestly we were already in full glutton mode. Earlier that day we did Brennan's, then Loretta's, Café Du Monde, and even stopped at Sun Chong's for the gumbo dumplings and redfish po'boy. By the time we got here for our reservation, we were barely even hungry. Luckily they were super accommodating and let us sit at the bar and order à la carte. We started with the Wild Mushrooms and Escargot, the Gnocchi "Black and Blue," and the Bluefin Tuna Tiradito. Everything was seriously so good. Even though we were full, we looked at each other and said we had to order at least one entrée, so we went with the Red Snapper Pontchartrain and it was worth it. And yes... even completely stuffed, we still ordered dessert. We got both the mint chocolate and the strawberry shortcake because at that point why not. Highly recommend both. Definitely a spot we'll have to come back to next time. Also, shoutout to our bartender. She was great and honestly made the night.

If you're even thinking about dining here, just book the reservation. It's a culinary experience you'll remember forever. All of the food was fantastic. I absolutely loved that the servers came out and explained each and every dish. They use so many high quality ingredients that you can truly taste. I did the tasting menu and loved each dish. The dessert was unlike anything else I've had. It was citrusy and had layers within the white chocolate shell. My highlights were the blue crab tartlet, grouper, and Wagyu. This Wagyu legitimately melted away as I chewed it. It was so tender and flavorful.

This restaurant was on my list for a long time as its 2 block away from my house still never got a chance to go there. Reservation was very smooth while i had some questions about my dietary restrictions which they took care of it. I am usually type of guy who enjoys some good expensive wine than the food and i was impressed with both wine selections which my sommelier suggested me. Me and my gf really enjoyed all the food with lots of colours and flavours. Had a wonderful chef's special 7-10 course meal with my gf service and the explaination of the food was amazing but could have been more interactive service like waiter came once or twice and saw him at the end !! Lots of different flavours on food. Thank you soo much once again for doing vegetarian 10 dish 7 course menu. I would recommend them to try for michelin star or hopefully they can get it when michelin visited new orelans !

Came to NOLA for the first time for a birthday weekend with a friend and we both throughly loved everything from start to finish. From the impeccable service, ambiance, and phenomenal plates, we left feeling that this was one of the best tasting menus/ experience we ever had. We are already planning our next trip and will be definitely coming back. Until then we will be reminiscing over our amazing experience and that beautiful Waygu steak we had. Thank you to everyone who made my birthday dinner special and memorable! 10/10

One of the best meals I have ever had and anyone I talk to that has been here said the same thing. Everything was perfect from the ambiance to the service to the food. I would fly to NOLA just to eat here . Favorites included: tuna crudo, roasted eggplant, coal roasted Iberico pork, the grilled royal red shrimp (a very NOLA type dish and the dry aged duck. You MUST order dessert, oh my gosh! The after dinner mint was incredible. The mint ice cream was incredible! The wine list was outstanding. I love the food in New Orleans, it's unlike anywhere else!

There are some restaurants that like to masquerade as fine dining and charge exorbitant fees but this is true fine dining. The price point is $$$$ for a reason. The restaurant is small, but cozy. Several waiters greet you as you get settled and cater with a flourish. The bathrooms are clean and everything is spotless. The menu is small and the options on the chef's special are not available in the a la carte menu. We opted for a la carte. We got the tuna crudo, which was lovely. Small pieces of fresh blue fin tuna paired with a passion fruit slush. While icy and a little strange texturally, the flavors worked well together. Then we had the coal-roasted iberico pork, which came with roasted okra and a tomato marmalade. While small, the pork was tender and paired well with the slight spice of the sauces. We also had a the black and blue gnocchi, which was slightly heavier, a fancy macaroni and cheese with truffle slices and crab. The entrees were grilled scallops and wagyu steak. The scallops were cooked well with a delightful sauce, soft and tender. I usually don't like scallops but these were quite well done. The Wagyu came with a nice tart veggie side and aligot that really paired well. Cooked to a lovely medium as requested. Finally, we had two desserts. While the blackberry opera cake was good, it did not wow us and after the full meal, it became a little tedious to eat. The custard tart though was fantastic, a rich, deep caramel flavor paired with the lighter milk sherbet (although I am unsure why they opted for sherbet over ice cream). In total, it cost about $300 for the meal (including tax and tip) for two. This is a splurge, something that I see only the wealthy and/or someone celebrating something important to be able to do. But it's fine dining for a reason and it truly knows what fine dining is.

This was a random stop because I wanted a good French 75. I ended up ordering a mezcal margarita instead funny enough. Anyway, very fancy and detail oriented restaurant. It's obvious that providing good service is important to the staff. The ambiance is romantic and dark. Must order the steak tartare.

Stumbled upon this place on our last trip to New Orleans and promised myself I'd try it this time. We went for the Friday 3 course lunch and it was incredible. So artfully presented and delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's beautiful and so awe-inspiring. The service is exceptional and chefs are going all out. Loved it.

Welp it's been a hot minute since I enjoyed a fancypants lunch at August... and the price for the 3 course prix fixe lunch is now $65 and it's totally worth it! My visiting friends and I made noon reservations and had the most lovely leisurely 2 1/2 hour lunch on Good Friday. They were great about accommodating our 1 vegetarian diner and made her an off menu item while still honoring the prix fixe price! And it was all so much food. I started with the black and blue gnocchi which sounds like it should work, truffles, blue cheese, crab and little fluffy potato yumminess? And it was amazing and honestly I was probably full at that point. I had the crawfish tagliatelle but the dish to eat was the snapper "bouillabaisse" in quotes because it wasn't soup. The pasta was good. The fish was stunning. As was my friend's veg option, mushroom pithivier. The friend who got the duck said it was the best version she's ever eaten. We split the 3 dessert options, ordering 2 of the cream puffs (which were the crowd favorite) but I also really liked blood orange creamsicle, the bitterness of the aperol sorbet was an unexpected note. And I liked the double cream cheese option; the apple butter made it sweeter than I expected but with still nice salty notes. Service was excellent; the mood was great. OH and I got the special rose French 75 twist... with cognac not gin because I'm a traditionalist that way. My friends all loved their cocktails too. I'll have to not wait another decade to go back.

After looking at reviews and craving a fine dining experience in New Orleans creole style) we decided to check out restaurant August. A beautifully appointed restaurant, in historic building that dates back to the early 1800s, it is elegant and includes a cozy bar for a drink before or after any meal. This is a reservation recommended location, although we were fortunate enough to get in fairly easily during a quiet time, early in the week, and early in the evening. We were pampered and made exceptionally welcome by the highly trained staff. Opened in the early 2000s, the restaurant has multiple recognitions by the James Beard organization and others in the food service world. The Executive Chef has changed hands and is now led by Corey Thomas, of the famous Commanders Palace and Shaya which received recognition by the James Beard organization during Chef Thomas tenure as sous chef. The menu offers à la cart options, as well as a chefs tasting menu that can be decided at the last minute if you are up for the challenge! Wine pairings are also available should you choose. We enjoyed an absolutely phenomenal tasting menu with wine pairings and could not have been happier! This restaurant team is laser focused on outstanding food, over the top service, and just an overall wonderful customer experience. Would not be surprised to see three stars at this location once the Michelin man finally comes to town. This can be a pricey endeavor, but definitely worth the treat!

While the service and presentation were appreciated, the overall dining experience did not justify the high expectations or the price point.

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

This beautiful bar is located in the swanky Hotel Peter and Paul hotel, located in the Marigny neighborhood. Our bartender offered great conversation and gave good recommendations and descriptions of the various cocktails. I had the Sonnet to my Wife, made with mezcal, St. Germaine, aperol, and lemon. Tart and mildly smoky. I also had the Adding machine, made with tequila, guava, velvet falernum, pomegranate, and lime. A little sweet, a little spicy with a complex flavor profile. I enjoyed both drinks. If not for my husband, I would have stayed for at least a few hours trying the whole menu. So many beautiful cocktails to choose from. They have beer and wine as well, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice. You can get those anywhere. They also have breakfast with eggs, sausage, omelettes, pancakes. Dinner with savory little numbers like smoked bone marrow and braised short ribs with smoked gouda polenta. Salads, grilled quid, pork chops, scallops, various veggies (crispy brussels sprouts, caramelized leeks, charrted broccolini, roasted mushrooms). The drinks were Flaura and Fauna, and Ballad Inventory. Both were unique and tasty. When our server returned, we ordered all of our items. We ordered Chicken under a brick and Braised Short Ribs for entrees. We ordered Roasted Mushrooms, Charred Broccoli, and Dinner Rolls. The Kitchen fell short in timing as rolls arrived at the end of our meal, and a few dishes were lukewarm at best. When refired, they were very good. ( See above) The meal itself and the surroundings were good. At the end of our meal, the manager and the server came over and apologized and told us they would be talking to the team. When the bill arrived, the manager had comped more than half of our total bill *( drinks, bread, mushrooms... $ 168 to $85). We didn't expect this, but it shows how much they care to make things right with customers. Elysian Bar and Restaurant is worth visiting, and you should visit for dinner or breakfast. ,
