    Sriracha Cauliflower

Pretty decent food and great atmosphere. Laid-back and intimate yet casual. Service was friendly and frequent. Drinks were tasty and refreshing, not too strong. I wasn't terribly impressed by the starters. The sriracha cauliflower could have used some ranch or another mayo-based sour sauce to cut through the spice and grease. The fried tomatoes were crispy and paired well with the burrata. The red fish was the star of the show. The sauce tasted like lobster bisque and corn, and the fish itself had a slightly crispy seasoned outside, while the inside was still very tender and flaky.

Visited on the last night of a weekend trip and it was a nice experience. Our server was very attentive and provided great recommendations for us to try. We ordered the short ribs, gnocchi, brussel sprouts, and truffle fries. The gnocchi was a little too doughy to my liking; however, my friend really enjoyed the short ribs. The brussel sprouts and truffle fries were both solid. The only downside was how loud it was in the restaurant. It was very difficult to hold a conversation without yelling. I would open to trying the restaurant again, but maybe during the weekday.

Great service and beautiful and fun interior (although smaller than I anticipated). Parking was very easy on the street as well. I enjoyed the food, but definitely was a bit pricey so just keep that in mind. That being said, we also ordered a lot of food for two people! Mushroom toast-highlight appetizers with a thick piece of toast cut in half, avocado, delicious array of mushrooms Calamari-usually not a fan but tried it since people raved about this. Appreciated that it wasn't a thick fried coating, and the peppers gave it a nice kick Fried green tomatoes-tasty but nothing particularly special compared to others I've had Gnocchi-rich and creamy, large portion, would definitely get again if you're a fan of mushrooms like I am Redfish-also good, but my husband said not necessarily the best he has ever had Bananas foster crème brûlée-don't skip this dessert, so good!

Amazing cocktails, 10/10 vibes. Everything on the menu looked so good it was hard to choose but i got the steak frites with a mountain of truffle fries! Will definitely be back

I've been wanting to try this place for a while so my friends took me here on my birthday for a lovely dinner! We had a reservation but we chose to grab a drink at the bar and waited for our entire party to arrive. I ordered the hot boi cocktail- it was very tasty and actually spicy. Once we were seated, the excitement began! We ordered the calamari and fried oysters to start. Very delicious. Then, we shared two entrees, the short rib and the redfish with a side of truffle fries and Brussels sprouts. It was a lot of food but so tasty so we ate it all and were stuffed but of course we needed dessert so I ordered the espresso crème brûlée which was amazing!! Of course they put a tasteful candle in it which was so sweet. They also treated us to complimentary bubbles and ginger ale for my zero proof friend. The service was great and attentive. I was very happy with my visit and can't wait to go back!

So far, I've only been to Beggar's Banquet for happy hour, but it's such a cute spot for drinks! And the food I have tried, it's been very tasty. The restaurant actually has 2 sides...the bar side has more of a lounge feel, while the restaurant side has more of a casual yet fine-dining feel. You can't beat the price of the happy hour apps for high-quality dining. I'm obsessed with the sriracha cauliflower!! (Though, I have tried the smoked redfish which basically tasted like smoked tuna, and I've tried the steak frites entree which is amazing!) And for my drink, I always grab a spicy boi...tequila drinks are always amazing in this Nola heat!

So yesterday I ventured out to try a new brunch spot Beggars Banquet on Prytania! Omg it was amazing! And y'all know we are picky to say the least lol. So we started with the grilled Banana Bread and wow Maple Bacon Butter is all I have to say it was delicious. Then we saw the Mascarpone grits again wow! I had the stuffed French Toast perfection! That strawberry sauce and the perfect fluffy bread! YES! Eddie had the Get Shorty boneless short rib Benedict. The eggs were perfect and the flavors outstanding! The coffee and old fashiones were perfection. The service was great sorry I don't remember her name. Sorry. The place has easy street parking and is Insta adorable inside lol. And CLEAN! Will be added to our rotation!

I love this restaurant, but especially love sitting at the bar. Small plates, cocktails and atmosphere are amazing. Their espresso martini is my absolute favorite!

Our reservation was early and I was the first of my party to arrive. The staff was super great and sat me right away. As my party rolled in, so did the place fill up rather quickly. Definitely you should make reservations. The whole vibe is so cool, dress up or dress down. I started with a bloody Mary which proved to be really nice, a little bit of spice and a cute pickle assortment. The table ordered Biscuits and Banana bread. The biscuits were their interpretation of biscuits, but more like a biscuit bread which came out in 4 giant squares. I'm not a marmelade fan so I just had butter. Still yummy. I thought it was nice and VERY filling (uh oh), I then could only have a small piece of banana bread. It was delicious. Next came our mains, The whole table ordered the Crabby Benny, even our vegan who asked for it without the crab. I pride myself on being a Benedict connoisseur and when the plate came out I was wowed by the presentation. I always add lemon to my benedicts. The potatoes were perfectly cooked at crispy. delish. I took the plunge. then another bite, something seemed off. I looked at the others in my party and everyone started in. It appeared that there is some sort of sweet relish added. In my opinion it overpowered the crab and completely knocked me off kilter. 3 of us left half, even the vegan. Now is it bad, absolutely not. We just didn't care for the sweet relish and I would absolutely order it again, but without the relish. I still had a wonderful time and there's so much to try on the menu. Looking forward to my return.

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

We arrived sans reservation, but were whisked straight into the courtyard -- arguably the best seat in the house on a pleasant Louisiana evening. Between the soft night air and the glow of the courtyard, the atmosphere alone deserved applause. The cocktails arrived first and immediately set a dangerously high standard: beautifully crafted, perfectly balanced, and the kind of drinks that make you consider canceling your plans afterward. Fortunately, the food rose to the occasion. The edamame and roasted Brussels sprouts disappeared with alarming speed, and the Amelie Salad was a standout -- generously portioned, fresh, vibrant, and substantial enough to be an entrée or ideal for sharing if you're pretending to be civilized. A special nod to Liz, who elevated the entire experience with spot-on recommendations, warm hospitality, and the rare ability to be both attentive and effortlessly relaxed. In a city famous for memorable dining, this meal still managed to feel special -- equal parts elegant, welcoming, and unmistakably New Orleans.

The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

Words simply cannot express how much I continue to be blown away by the exquisite quality of food,…read morebeverage, service, and uncommon hospitality demonstrated and perfectly executed by this New Orleans establishment. My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Dinner was good, but probably would have been great had the service been better. (The manager and the server apologized, and if we had more time were willing to comp a meal if we could revisit. Unfortunately, we were leaving the next day, so they did the next best thing: they comped almost half of our bill. WELL DONE!) The restaurant is very inviting with parlors and an atrium. The tables are spaced well apart for noise and a possible romantic dinner/Breakfast. :-) Once seated, the server was working very hard but found us. (They may have been short since the jazz festival was in town) She took our drink orders, which arrived quickly. She explained the menu and let us think about our choice. The drinks were Flaura and Fauna, and Ballad Inventory. Both were unique and tasty. When our server returned, we ordered all of our items. We ordered Chicken under a brick and Braised Short Ribs for entrees. We ordered Roasted Mushrooms, Charred Broccoli, and Dinner Rolls. The Kitchen fell short in timing as rolls arrived at the end of our meal, and a few dishes were lukewarm at best. When refired, they were very good. ( See above) The meal itself and the surroundings were good. At the end of our meal, the manager and the server came over and apologized and told us they would be talking to the team. When the bill arrived, the manager had comped more than half of our total bill *( drinks, bread, mushrooms... $ 168 to $85). We didn't expect this, but it shows how much they care to make things right with customers. Elysian Bar and Restaurant is worth visiting, and you should visit for dinner or breakfast. ,
