    King cake
    Amber L.

It's a bit hard to rate Sucre's king cake since it's admittedly the first one we've ever had, but damn is it delicious. The place itself has a small shop charm but offers lots of different sweets from macaroons, tarts, and gelato. We settled on the king cake as visiting Texans who have never tried it before. The cake itself was moist and sweet with the icing and cinnamon giving it a distinct flavor. It almost tastes like a cinnamon roll on steroids, in a good way. The baker manning the shop was very friendly and also shared how to insert the baby into the cake, which was very helpful as newcomers to the tradition. This place is delicious and we absolutely recommend it to locals and others like us who are looking to experience this Mardi Gras tradition for the first time.

Cold brew with shot of oat milk

Very nice service and the woman working the counter was extra nice to offer up oat milk with my cold brew after not being able to get the butterfly tea that I was initially eyeing. There is a private restroom for customers which seems to be popular given the nearby Preservation Hall doesn't have any and is very close to the shop. Also there isn't as much seating as expected from the Google photos, maybe because the shop shrinked up but looks very different from the pics.

The staff immediately greeted me--they were super helpful and friendly as a I pondered my decision. Their Instagram did feature a ton of photos of products and drinks they did not have in store. So I would say be aware of that and that it has multiple locations. I settled on an espresso, which was decent, and a little cake. I honestly can't remember the cake flavor - I think it was possible almond, but I didn't get much nutty flavor at all. The cake just tasted sugary. I got a hint of the pistachio halfway through. Overall, I didn't find the cake texture or flavor particularly delicate, interesting or memorable. Everything did look cute, though.

Wow, two Sucre locations in the French Quarter and open until midnight! This is the place to be. It was our second day in New Orleans and we happened on this place as we were heading back to our hotel. Located in the heart of the French Quarter, it was a wonderful, late night surprise find. Especially since it's so hot and humid in NOLA -- this was a very welcomed addition to the current food scene. Totally enjoyed everything we ate. And the staff is very warm and friendly.

When Sucre first came on the scene it was all the rage. Despite all my visits to NOLA I never managed to make it in. Then there was some controversy, and the placed closed for a few years. It recently re-opened under new ownership, and there are a few locations around town. While wandering through the Quarter, I noticed this shop about 2 blocks from my house, which is dangerous. Now, I had no excuse to not check it out. This café is small. The one in the Garden District is bigger and has a bar, but you can get coffee beverages and gelato here too. The rows of delectable desserts were pretty and tempting - making it difficult to choose. The lady behind the counter was friendly and patient. I resisted the urge to order one of each and got the Confetti Cupcake. It did not disappoint. I could tell the buttercream frosting was made with real butter because it had a silky-smooth texture and melted in your mouth. It was light on the sweetness level. The cupcake was moist and tender. It was heavenly. I know I will be stopping in on a regular basis when I'm in town.

I just love the vibe here! It's very inviting with the color scheme and wide variety of French baked goods, tempting every bit of willpower you thought you had. I came in for 1 pistachio macron and added a cortado. Both were fresh and delicious! On the way out I asked to sample the lemon sorbet, which I will order the next time I'm in town.

My very first Gelato certainly was great! This shop is very clean, classy, and full of lots of goodies to satisfy a sweet tooth or a coffee craving. Loved my Gelato and would come here again. Highly recommend!

The staff was very friendly and let us sample several flavors before we decided. They had a banana gelato and I have never seen that flavor anywhere else and it was delicious. They have a cute seating area and a coffee bar so you can enjoy your sweets with friends.

    Cheese cake

Service was okay. The person at counter said she does not like anything when I asked for recommendation. I ordered the cheesecake, and I noticed that I was served something was damaged. There was a crack. To think about it, she did not deserve my 20 percent tip. I was here the year before, and had the Pink Lady. It was okay. The cheesecake with white chocolate was better. This place is across the street from the Monteleone Hotel. The cheesecake, bottled water, a mint chocolate chip gelato, and a macaroon was $29 (tip not included). It is not a full service, but they still ask for tip when paying over the counter. I am only giving them 3 stars because their pastry is pretty good. They can do without the attitude.

An absolutely cute shop in the French Quarter. Sweet treats-what more can I say?!? This location had baked goods and gelato. I wanted to try everything! Ended up trying some gelato and purchasing a cupcake and some macarons Yummy! My only negative is that the employee working was not very friendly.

This was a wonderful place to recharge after walking around the museum all day. The cupcake was perfection. It paired perfectly with my chai and gelato.

    Macarons
    Melissa S.

If you are looking for an after dinner dessert spot, this is it! The gelato and macarons were both spectacular. Additionally, they have cupcakes, cookies, tartes, cheesecakes, teas, and more. Prices are a bit on the higher side; it was $8 for two macarons. However, they also stay open pretty late, which is nice.

    Affogato
    Amy H.

One of my favorite places to get an affogato and see all the pretty baked goods that they have. Everything is so visually appealing and I'm never disappointed.

They served their buttery rich croissants as part of their continental breakfast. (I'm not sure if they still do.) Now that I have a house in the Quarter, I take a morning stroll over here to pick up croissants to take home. The butter croissants are a bargain at $3.50. I also love the chocolate & almond (both are $3.95 each), as well as the crisp & flaky Palmiers & delicate Almond Florentines. The setting is stunning. A beautiful open dining room inside a historic building. While we waited in the bar for our guests to arrive, it was clear this was a polished operation. Creative, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. The only item we would not order again was the After Dinner Mint dessert. It leaned a bit too heavily on the mint. The wine list is impressive. We ended up ordering three bottles over the course of the evening and enjoyed each one. One issue kept this from being a perfect experience. The third course, our entrée, took 46 minutes to arrive, compared to about 15 minutes between the earlier and later courses. There was no proactive communication from our server. I had to flag her down to ask, and was told it was on the way. That delay stretched our evening by close to 30 minutes, and there was no acknowledgment or effort to make up for it. If I'm scoring it, the food is a 5 out of 5 without question. The service, because of that lapse, was closer to a 3. I'll meet in the middle and give Restaurant August a 4 overall. Even with that hiccup, this was one of the best meals we've ever had in New Orleans.
