This family-owned business has been a New Orleans institution since 1905. In fact, its name is still imprinted in the sidewalk tiles of its former location at 617 Ursulines. The establishment began as an ice cream parlor selling handmade gelato but has since expanded to include pastries, desserts, espresso, cappuccinos, & lattes. The shop embodies the old-world charm of Sicily, and everything is authentically produced in small batches from high-quality local ingredients. The first gelato flavor that founder Angelo Brocato first produced & sold was Torroncino - a vanilla-based gelato with cinnamon & ground almonds. It's still served in their shop today. Locals love their handmade gelato, Italian ices, & desserts - as do I. My favs are the cannoli and signature Italian pastries. I'm also a big fan of the Spumoni, which is served in slices (as it should be). Sadly, Angelo Brocato III passed on July 22nd at the age of 85. His burial was private but the locals gathered for a big celebration to honor his life and the joy he brought to them over the years. read more

The coffee was good, and the banana nut muffin tasted fresh and was a nice quick breakfast before heading to my gate. Nothing particularly outstanding, but everything was good and did the job. There was also a $0.27 credit-card surcharge, and with tax and tip my total came to $9.97. Overall, a decent airport option for a quick coffee and something to eat. read more

Locally owned Italian dessert shop with ice cream, cakes, and coffee. They've been opened since 1905! My BFF and his family took me to desserts after our dinner. I could say everything was perfect here (super rich, flavorful, and sweet). I had their Spumoni Cheesecake which was good, my buddy recommended and ordered their Alaska cake which was good (but a bit too rich and sweet for me). Try and support local shops, Angelo was a perfect night cap to dinner. About 15 minutes away from Bourbon St, they also have locations in the airport too if you need your Italian dessert fix! read more

A trip to Brocato's is always a treat. This time I had a a slice of the limoncello and a cappuccino. The limoncello is just the right amount of sweet. It's not overwhelming. And the limoncello POPS with a nice tartness and a subtle sweetness. The cappuccino was tasty as well, although I did add a pinch of sugar to it ! I always look forward to coming here when I visit New Orleans, sometimes my schedule doesn't permit but this time I was able to swing by! The people working here are very passionate and knowledgeable about everything and they are very proud to tell you what makes them so special. The shop is a very cute and cozy place. They have Gelato, an assortment of cookies, cakes and coffees. My plan was to bring back a ton of my favorites and freeze them but I found out that they weren't freezer friendly. They do have a few items you can order online that can be frozen. If you love a good bakery as much as I do then I would encourage you to check them out! read more

Whether you're a local or a tourist, you should make a point to visit this institution, more than once if you can. This has been one of my favorite gelatos of all time for 10+ years, before I even lived here. My favorite flavor is the zuppa inglese. My beloved grandpa just passed, but his favorite, from 30+ years ago, was the spumoni. I'm so glad that this place has been around long enough that I can still eat my grandpa's favorite gelato and think about him. read more

Such a cute establishment! I love vintage, romantic sweet shops. It was such a treat to visit and felt like a portal in time. We tried different cookies and gelato. My favorite was the anise cookie. My first time here and I will definitely be back. There's usually a line so expect a bit of a wait but there are plenty of staff to keep things moving. So much to choose from, it's hard to pick. My first time having a Cannoli and I want another soon. So delicious and fresh. My husband loves the Anise cookies. They have a large variety of gelato that I want to try next time as well as various Cheesecakes. There are a few tables inside and the store was clean. The last time I came here I left three stars and said I wouldn't return. A friend of mine convinced me to go back and try something else. Classic. Absolutely perfect. Love love love the fresh cannoli and all the other little desserts I get to try. Everything is incredibly reasonably priced. I usually get a little shot of espresso also. I've gone here forever, brought by my grandma at the end of an evening spent together and now going with friends, so I have so much nostalgia in it. Service is super helpful. The line can get a little kooky, especially with tourists taking pictures and such. I try to go every time I'm home now though and will recommend it to anyone visiting. We had planned to go to Creole Creamery in Lakeview but their power went out. I hadnt been here in decades altho my mom used to take me here often when i was growing up. Big gelato selection with Italian pastries including their famous cannoli that stacks up well against anything we've had in New York's Little Italy. Everything is reasonably priced. It's what I like best about this place and all of New Orleans - everyone can eat incredibly well every day, in casual & neighborly places. No barriers of needing reservations, spending a lot of money, or needing to wait in long line as is common in bicoastal areas. read more

Old family owned business, small dining area / shop, they have a bunch of desserts, pre-packaged items, and ice cream you can enjoy there or take to go. They have some cannoli that are ready to go, but they mostly make them by hand, especially if you're ordering like a dozen. They have classic flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio, topped with powdered sugar. The shells are nicely cooked and not too hard, nor stale and soft. The cream is not too sweet either and has a nice flavor. I personally wish there were more chocolate chips inside and that it was slightly sweeter, but very good overall. read more

Our second visit to this cute shop, last time it was a highlight of our trip. We got Gelato, mine was in the form of an affogato (Gelato topped with espresso and if desired, whipped ccream). My affogato was even better this time, I chose chocolate Gelato. So delicious. My boyfriend got stracciatella (Italian chocolate chip) Gelato. They were both delicious. We grabbed some pastries to go including a cannoli (filled fresh and adorned with pistachios) sfogliatella (flaky pastry filled with a creamy filling and citrus) and a strawberry Napoleon (new to me). The service is great, they carefully packed the box and brought the affogato out to the table as well. It's liked you've stepped back in time when you're inside.
