Line was long AF, I said these crab beignets better be worth it -- it was. I could've used two of those thangs but I didn't know what I was getting into and i wasn't waiting in that line again so get 2. If you're waiting for the plain beignets, they're gooooood but everybody sells beignets you'll be aiite missing out on these because that line in that heat is no joke.
We went on Labor Day. We had to go after reading the reviews! It was pouring down rain, and we were standing under an inkling of an awning where we were continuing to get drenched. One of the customers suggested having the line routed through the inside of the covered market, which was an amazing idea. So I walked to the front of the line and asked the cashier if she would be able to reroute us so we wouldn't all get soaking wet. She was the only person working up front and taking orders, but she was pleasant and kind and said sure. After she finished taking the order she was working on, she came from around the counter and rerouted the line so we could all get out of the rain. After that, the line seemed to move a little quicker too. I'd say we waited about 30 minutes, maybe even 25. We knew what we wanted because we were able to see the menu while we were waiting, but there are no prices listed, so you are a little shocked when you get to the register. I believe one crab beignet was between $8 and $9. I ended up spending about $40 total on two orders of traditional beignets, one crab beignet, a sweet potato cookie, and one order of praline beignets. The traditional and the praline come with three each, but the crab only comes with one. I posted one of my receipts below. Can't seem to find the receipt from my larger order. Now let's get to the taste.... they were amazing! Yes, when you go, try the crab and try the praline. I probably would not buy the traditional beignets again because they are significantly smaller than the Café du Monde beignets, and the taste is not drastically different. So you're paying more and getting less for pretty much the same product. But I would absolutely go back for the crab, the praline, and some of the other items she has. My cousin also had the beignet burger, which she said was great. All in all, it was a great experience. I just wish the beignets were a little bigger and the prices were a little lower, but with the cost of everything going up, I do understand. There's not much of an ambiance because you're pretty much sitting in a covered market. Birds are flying around, tourists are walking through looking at the different kiosks, and there's a lot going on around you. But they made the beignets to order, brought them out really fast, and there was a guy walking around wiping the tables after each person got up because, of course, there was powdered sugar EVERYWHERE. Lol.
I heard so many good things about Loretta's and had to come try it for myself! Pros: Great food, everything was hot, fresh, & tasty! Service was really good, especially considering how busy the place was. Staff was super hospitable and kind. Cons: It's a small place so seating was pretty limited, since it was busy. All 3 beignets I got were 10/10.
First time in NO and heard to not go to any other place for beignets accept here. Glad we listened. The praline?? FYE... the crab.... FUEGO... wish I lived closer cause I'd be there weekly

So decadently delicious. They only have one savory option here and we don't eat crawfish. The other locations also have beignets filled with chicken, eggs and crab. Lots of other sweet options here. Chocolate. Peanut butter and jelly. Or just plain beignets. Line moves quickly. Order and then grab a table and wait for your beignets. This was recommended by our Lyft driver, Joseph. Just ask a local.
I have always wanted to try a savory beignet and the crab beignets from Loretta's was a great start! The line was pretty long but it moves relatively quickly so definitely jump in that line! We ordered one crab beignet each and grabbed a table nearby. The crab lumps inside were super tender and savory, I loved every single bite of it! I thought it was flavorful enough without the sauce so i didn't add much of it but my friends really liked the sauce as well. I wish the beignet itself was a bit more fluffy but I could eat the crab filling all day. Would definitely come back again!
Line was long but wait time was ridiculously longer as made as ordered. Be prepared to wait as two employees here. Much smaller in size than beignets from CDM but you could get praline or chocolate filled. Not the best looking but different taste in a good way. They have other items in their display case. Doc also bought 3 kinds of flavored pralines and a pecan pie the size of a tart for us to try. She told us about the connection with The Princess and the Frog here.
I can go on and onnnnnn about Loretta's! You have got to try the praline beignets they're known for and those crab beignets will make you get right back in that long line to order some more! My only complaint is that I wish the crab beignets came with three in the order like the other flavors because they are so yummy!
This place is on the French Market towards the end of it. You know you are there when you see the line. The line is long but it moves fast. The beignets are sooo good. We for the praline filled. They are small and one order has 3 but they are pretty filling. We also got the crab beignets and the savory flavor on that's is delicious. The place is in the middle of the marker so it may hard to find a bench and the vibe is what you will expect at an open market. It's great for shopping around while you wait.
You order at the walk up counter and they will call out your name when your order is ready. The service is quick for how consistent the line is. There were some tables across the walkway if you would like to sit. I don't know if I had missed it, but I didn't see any prices for their items. I ordered the original pralines and the crab beignet. The pralines came in a nice box where each praline was individually wrapped. Great for sampling, sharing, and for packing. This was my first time trying this style of pralines. It is very sweet and soft in texture. The crab beignet was about the size of a small ice cream sandwich. It was quite hot when we got our order. The crab chunks were a good size and I thought the flavor was subtle. Definitely a fun item to try while here but I am a fan of the sweet beignet.
Let me tell you, the long wait in the summer heat was absolutely worth it! The beignets here are unreal. I mean Loretta must have put her secret sauce in each item because after waiting 35 minutes to even place an order and finally taking several bites, I was ready to jump back in line! Not pictured is the Sweet Potato Pie cookie and as a southern belle, I'm looking for flights to come back to New Orleans just for that! Here's your sign to get in line, be patient, be KIND, and order extra!!
OMG, everything was delicious! I highly recommend getting there at least 15 minutes before they open as the line gets long, FAST! I arrived about 10 minutes prior to opening and there were already 10 people ahead of me. I got the crab beignet, traditional beignets, praline/chocolate chip cookie, and a sweet potato cookie. You definitely don't want to miss the crab beignet, it's amazing. I loved both of the cookies so it's hard to choose a favorite, but I highly recommend both if they're available. I will definitely be stopping by again on my next trip to NOLA!

My first beignets in NOLA! And this was my first time in NOLA too. We went to the stand inside the french market cause it was closest to our hotel. The line was short when I arrived but got progressively longer as the day went on. Line moved pretty quickly tho. Limited seating so you may need to stand and eat. Grab lots of napkins too cause it's messy! We shared the crab beignet (1 piece) and the praline beignets (3 pieces). They're kinda small just fyi so this was good as like a snack before walking around. Both beignets were so good but the praline ones were my absolute fav!!! I could've ate like 5 more of those. Both were fresh and packed with flavor. Definitely must try while in NOLA! read more

Everybody debates who has the best beignets in New Orleans and Loretta's is often held as a local favorite. While they're delicious, I think it comes down to personal preference. Where Loretta shines is their stuffed beignets that can be a little on the sweet side but also make for an innovative and unique beignet experience. Altogether, we tried the classic, crab stuffed, Chocolate, and praline. The texture of their beignets is more croissant-like compared to some of the other others we tried in town. For the classic one, I preferred beignets from Du Monde but the crab stuff one really blew us away. The buttery texture with the delicious seasoned filling made for such a delicious Rich bite that it makes sense that they only sell one per order because I honestly don't think I could eat a bunch of them. They're like a perfect little appetizer bite. The chocolate one was my second favorite, although it was quite sweet. In that same vein, I found the pecan praline one to be a little too sweet. So if you're somebody with a major sweet tooth, then these will absolutely hit the spot. When you get here, you order at the counter and find somewhere to sit within the market and they sell out pretty early. Even though they close at 4 PM I think we got there around 2PM and they were already selling out and we were some of the last people to be able to order beignets, so plan accordingly. The restaurant lies inside of the French market, which has a lot of hustle and bustle and a lot of shopping to do so plan to go early and try your beignets and then spend time shopping around. read more
Waited in a relatively fast-moving line, which was a good start. But if you're coming here for the first time, make sure you understand the "beignet language"--one order equals three beignets, which isn't immediately clear. The signage could definitely use some work. It's a bit misleading (see photo). Based on the display, it looks like only the plain beignets come with 3 and that they offer peanut butter and jelly, but they actually don't. There was also an issue with overcharging, which required the entire team to step in and sort it out. Hopefully the charges were properly reversed--we'll see. Now, the beignets themselves: in my opinion, they were better than those at Café Du Monde, which says a lot considering they're the staple in the area. BB read more
My goodness these beignets are so so good. My friend's and I visited New Orleans together last week and we decided to stop here as people kept saying it's the best in town. I will say, we had beignets at other places in NORA but these.. lordt. Crab Beignet: 8/10, very good, flavorful. Worth a try but for $10 it's not for everyone. It's not that big.. but if I'm feeling a "treat yourself" type of vibe I'd come back for it Praline Beignets: 10/10, these were SMACKIN, praline can be much but this was absolutely delicious. I love nuts (calm down) in any dish and this was an easy win for me. If I'm in NORA again this would definitely be my #1 beignet spot. I'm back home and still thinking of them There was a line when we got there, it was worth the wait and it didn't move slow. 100% recommend it! read more
BL: skip Cafe du Monde and come here! Lines are long but worth the wait. I've had beignets before at Cafe du Monde and was not impressed at all but with a line snaking around a corner (or two), decided to give beignets another try and with a TWIST of pralines! I was afraid the pralines + nuts was going to be too sweet, but it turned out a good balance with the caramel-tasting drizzle and powdered sugar and slight crisp. Friend said the savory crab cake beignet was good also - so will try that next time. Tried the praline shoe sole also and I really liked the texture - crispy layers and a bit firm - reminded me of a Chinese butterfly cookie aka palmiers but better because it's thin! Beignets are 3 pieces/order (~$9) for praline. The crab cake one is 1 per order. Warning! It is temperature hot as they make it on the spot! read more
These are the best beignets I've ever had! The server was nice because I wanted to try the crawfish beignets but I love crab and just wanted to try a savory one. The cashier was nice and told me Feburary-April is the best time for cheap crawfish. It's in the French Market where there are multiple shops and restaurants in an open air space. The crab beignet was flaky and so flavorful. I loved it and I'm so glad I decided to get the original beignets because they were sooo good. They were fresh to order (unlike another popular spot) so it took a few minutes for my order to come out but they were PIPING hot. It was $20 for my 4 beignets. 10/10 read more
I visited Loretta's at a good time, when the line was relatively short. I ordered the crab beignet, which arrived shortly thereafter. All beignets are made to order, and my crab beignet was delicious. However, I found it a bit small for the price. I also wanted to try the sweet potato cookies, but they were out of just about everything besides pralines and beignets. Nevertheless, I'd be willing to try it again and explore their other menu items. read more

The beignets are structurally sound in that they hold their shape well, yet are light and fluffy on the inside. Also tried the praline beignets, they were good and added another level of sweetness to this already sweet treat. My friend tried the crab beignet and loved it!! read more
Please do not leave NOLA without visiting this place! It is a staple and consistently has been delicious year after year. The line may be long depending on time and day but they move pretty fast and customer service is amazing so don't let it discourage you. It's not a huge space but they do have seating inside for you to enjoy your treat. I've had sweet and savory options all 10/10. Traditional, Crab and Praline were my recent order and I was overly satisfied. Please do yourself and order more than 1. Traditional comes with 3 automatically. The crab was full of meat, soft, buttery and flaky. Praline had a subtle sweetness, soft and had a perfect small crunch. Was too excited and forgot to take food pics read more

Last time I was in New Orleans, they were closed when I stopped by. Unfortunately, their hours are not accurate on their website and Google. It was the week of Christmas so I give them a pass. I went right when they opened. I ordered an order of plain beignets and a crab beignets based on the employee's recommendation. He was spot on. They are made to order and come out fresh and hot, it was all delicious. The beignets were pillowy soft with a slight crispy outside. I wish the crab flavor was more pronounced, but it was delicious as is. I actually thought the beignets were better than Cafe Du Monde. Service was great! My only gripe is they don't provide pricing on their menu. My order was just under $20 for one crab beignet and one 3-piece order of plain. On the pricy side, but worth it since love beignets and just visiting. read more
Strolling through the French Market when we stumbled upon Loretta's Pralines, highly recommended and calling our names... specifically telling us we must try their beignets. So of course, we did. The setup was actually really nice--outdoor seating, a gentle breeze, and the joy of walking around with a fresh beignet in hand. Very New Orleans, very cute vibes. Now let's talk about the beignets themselves. Flavor-wise? Delicious. Fresh, fluffy, and nicely done. BUT... they were so small and disappeared so fast that for the first time in my life, I didn't even get to take a picture of my beignets . And if you know, you know--that's saying something. Then came the real shock: three tiny beignets for $9.99 + tax. I honestly checked the bag twice to make sure nothing was missing. Coming from years of Café du Monde and Café Beignet expectations, this was a full-on beignet betrayal. Half the size, double the price. Final verdict: tasty? Yes. Worth it? Not really. Unless you're looking to spend an arm and a leg for a few bites that vanish in seconds, I'd recommend sticking with the classic beignet spots. read more
I don't even know where to begin. This was HANDS DOWN the best beignets in the city. I got the crab beignet and an order of the classic beignets. Both were phenomenal. The crab beignet was soft, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The crab melted in your mouth and the beignet was perfectly toasted. The classic beignets were INCREDIBLE. The perfect texture both outside and inside and the powdered sugar was phenomenal. The only thing I can say is that the price is more than the other locations in NOLA. But, so worth it!!! read more
Worth the wait! Longest line ever, but so worth it. We ordered 3 orders of the Beignets w/ Pralines and 3 orders of the regular beignets. 2 stuffed crab beignets. This is located in the French Market y'all- So it is busy and you have to find a place to sit. There are so many food/drink stalls there. This place is a MUST try. The locals highly recommended this spot to us and it was delicious. The beignets were fresh and hot - made to order and not as doughy as the ones at Cafe Du Monde. It was smaller, but it was perfect bites of sweetness and a little crunch - the dough was lightly chewy and deep fried to perfection. I loved it and the want to go back just for this!!! read more

We had just gotten beignets from Cafe du Monde down the street and were pretty full so we just grabbed some pralines for later and split a crab beignet. I will say - despite the portion being tiny for $9 - the crab beignet was definitely worth it and quite delicious. We're going to have to back the next time we're in the city to try some of the sweet ones; the dough is slightly denser than Cafe du Monde but it really worked with the savory crab topping. Expensive but I would get it again for sure. read more
Had both the original and crab beignets. There were no prices posted, so $25 for 1 water, 1 order original (3) and 1 crab beignet after seeing what I received seemed a little overpriced compared to others. The originals were light and airy, but the crab did not live up to the wait in line. So I couldn't decide between a 3 or 4. read more
Obviously this is going to be a 5 star review. After seeing SO many people rave about Loretta's we had to go. We had the praline beignets and also one of the crab beignets. They were both 10/10. Pralines are super sweet, but that's what we were looking for. The crab one....we definitely should have gotten more than just one. Wish we would have had more time to go back. read more

Visiting the area for a Business conference and decided to extend my stay to enjoy some local cuisine. This was the third place I tried beignets from. I tried the plain and the crab as well as a praline confection. The plain beignets were tasty. What I've noticed is the beignets are made a few different ways depending on where you get them. This beignet was more of a layered airy type of beignet. It wasn't my most favorite for the plain, but with the crab added, it took it to a whole other level and it was absolutely delicious. Both types of beignets were hot, with a crispy top and edges. The only disappointing part about the crab beignet is they are so small and they're sold individually. It's like buying one hors d'oeuvre. This was also my first time trying a praline and they're not my thing. They were tasty, nutty, and buttery, but I just wasn't a fan of the texture personally. If you are a praline person, I think you would enjoy these based off the taste. The line wasn't too bad and the beignets came out fresh, hot and crispy. I like the fact that they're not just sitting soggy in a bag so they can move the lines. read more

One of the biggest regrets I have in life is not ordering more food when I was at Loretta's!! Lol I thought I had good beignets before, but that was before I tried these. No place does beignets better than Loretta's. They are so soft and delicate and buttery and delicious. I wish I had gotten at least 10 crab beignets to start and had gotten at least 20 beignets to wash it down. It was an easy walk from the French quarter and there's a nice park next to itif you want to eat outside, which is what we did. You might have to wait a while since there's a lot of people and they freshly make everything but it is totally worth the wait. I I would go back to New Orleans just to eat at Loretta's read more
