Why did I pass this place up all this time? I know why, I thought they only sold pastries well silly me for thinking. When I tell you I was so surprised at how delicious the breakfast was at this restaurant. I have passed this place many times. And obviously robbed myself of a great experience many times! The staff were friendly. The view by the window was so peaceful. I went at 9am and it was a soothing calm environment. I looked over the menu with lots of great choices and chose the breakfast bowl. Best decision of my day. The eggs were light and fluffy with a great taste. The grits were cooked to perfection and the bacon was right on the edge of crispy so I could really taste the flavor. FOOD Really good and creative enough to be intriguing without being bizarre. I had the breakfast burrito (sounds boring, but it wasn't), the freshness and combo of verde sauce and chorizo hit that proverbial spot for me. I was interested in the Bananas Foster and the Red Velvet Elvis pancakes, but it was a toss-up between the burrito or the Beignet BLT. I loved it, but next time I will go for the decadent BBLT, because why not? Plus, it looks so scrumptious. I ordered some cookies to go, so good and creative that I came back to load up my carry-on bag for wifey to share, good choice. The doberge cake was calling my name, so pretty, but too pricey. SERVICE Folks were adequately friendly, but it seemed they didn't get quite enough sleep the night before, reminds me of when I was 25. It took a few more minutes than I expected for my breakfast, but it was well worth it. I only got one coffee refill, because the tables became increasingly full, while the server was... slightly overwhelmed. AMBIENCE Parking was challenging, until i figured out that the entire building was Debbie. Felt like traditional old time New Orleans style parking. The building is clean, though the entrance door is a bit ramshackle, 1950's vintage, not maintained as well as it could be. When I returned for my second batch of cookies, there was inly one staffer in the front of the house, though I'm sure more were in the back, baking. The server probably fit in the category of gender fluid, not surprising considering the signage posted. I'm down with that, but if it makes you uncomfortable, you may wish to have dinner at Gendusa's a few blocks away where the NASCAR races on Fox Sports dominates the dining room, with photos of Italian gangsters adorn the walls. Absolutely wonderful beignets! Perfectly crispy while simultaneously fluffy and dense. So tasty piping hot and alongside some of their yummy cold brew with simple syrup and oat milk . The staff were warm and friendly as well, and the shop overall had a very cozy feel. I saw they have milk and cookies happy hour during the week which is just adorable. Such an experience on a Sunday afternoon! I have been looking for a savory scone and was also in need of a pick me up. The workers were wonderful and super friendly. I was a little picky about how I wanted my coffee made, but the lovely barista ensured the drink would meet my desires and even offered to make me another if I didn't like the first. I didn't have to take them up on that offer because it was absolutely perfect! We got to try Debbie on the Levee as a Yelp Elite Perk. It was a cute bakery and bar. (Unique combo, no?) I'm so glad I go to try this place! I don't live in Kenner, so I would have never discovered it otherwise! Complimentary with the Yelp Elite event, we got cookies and flavored milks! We tried a pistachio cherry cookie, which was delicious. The dough was pistachio flavored and chewy, with dried cherry chunks throughout. The chocolate chip cookie was a crispier cookie with tons of mini chocolate chips in it. The flavored milks were yummy too, soft in flavor and not super sweet, so it's not overwhelming. They have regular milk, almond milk, and oat milk. They were out of the Twix flavored milk, so I'll have to come back to try it again some time! We purchased a lavender lemonade ($2.50), and this was fantastic!! Just a little sweet and tart, surprisingly flavorful with a strong (but really pleasant) lavender infusion. I could drink that all day! We also tried their apple curry handpie ($4) I loved the slight hint of curry taste in the apple filling. It was warmed up for us, so it felt freshly baked. Lastly, we bought a jalapeño cheddar scone ($4). This was good too. It was actually more moist than expected (not dried out at all!). The spicy heat from the jalapeño was mild, just a touch. I would say the price and portions for everything is fair as a bakery and bar. They do have a 15% service charge automatically applied, but the staff there are so attentive while you eat and drink there (great service: refills your water and comes to check on you while eating) and working hard to fulfill your order (warming up the pastries and bartending), so I think it's a good idea to bring a little cash for tipping too! read more

More people should know this location exists. I'm a fan of Debbie does Doberge cakes and have visited the bakery bar a lot. Whenever someone has a birthday I order a Debbie does doberge cake to wow them. Everybody always loves the cakes I get from here. I went to for Yelp Elite week for the milk and cookies and got 2 chocolate chip cookies and a strawberry milk and a Cinnamon Toast milk. The cookie was good and it was even better when I dipped it in the cinnamon toast milk. This would be a great thing to enjoy with kids. Both milk flavors I got were good. I want to try the Twix milk next time. They have a milk and cookies happy hour during the week and I definitely recommend going. I was also told they have brunch at this location. I'll be back for that. While I was there I decided to get a king cake doberge cake and it was so good. I'm thankful I don't live too close to this location because I'd probably get a slice of cake every single day if I did lol. read more

This is the type of place you want to eat at everyday. I started following on Facebook after seeing a cake slice photo and it's been on my list of things to get to for over a year unfortunately. Doh! ‍. I ordered an iced pistachio latte and a biscuit breakfast sandwich with bacon. The latte was great and they keep the flavor year round so that's A++. The breakfast sandwich looked so good I had to take a photo. A hearty size with a biscuit that melts in your mouth. One bite and you almost want gobble it all up like Cookie Monster. This particular french toast is good because while having sweet butter, sauce, and bananas, the toast itself is not. The two types of flavor lend perfectly to each other. The coffee is good as well, and there is great customer service. The employees are friendly, and you can tell that they care about their customers. This cafe has a fun atmosphere, with board games such as "Sorry!" for customers to play while waiting. I had to try that King Cake Cocktail that I saw pictures of all over their facebook page. I came here around 2pm on a Friday. I was the only one there, so I made friends with the bartender and the cashier with the fun hair. The drink was a nice, relaxing break since I was giving myself a little pick me up. It was indeed strong, but flavorful and fun. The interior of the restaurant is bigger than I was expecting and spacious enough to be spread out. I would say this would be a great place for a groups. The have a small menu of savory items ( mainly breakfast type but served all day and there are some non-breakfast options too) along with an array of sweet treats including the famous doberge cakes and cake bites! You should try the ginger cookie with a blood orange icing that has a hint of spiciness to it! The chipotle grilled cheese is served with 3 dipping sauces and the breakfast burrito is packed full of flavor! In addition to this and the ginger cookie I also had the doberge bites in the flavors black and gold, nectar cream, wedding cake and a goat cheese and fig one. I was surprised to find them open at 5 on a Sunday and a nice surprise it was! They also have many specialty cocktails to choose from. I had seen the pictures from the Yelp Elite Event a long time ago, I have been stalking them on the various social media sites and I have been wanting to come. I finally took the time to come out, and I did not regret it. The service was amazing. Parking on the side or in the back. Inside was neat and clean. I got the mac and cheese and a wedding cake doberge bite to dine in. Both were amazing. I got some blueberry hand pies, apple hand pies, a few doberge bites to go for some family coming in from out of town and everyone was amazed and impressed. The only questionable thing is that they have 15% surcharge on all transactions. Their website and all signs in the restaurant say that they do this. When I asked the gal working the counter what it was for, she skirted discussing what it was for. If it was simply for credit card transactions, that is one thing, but they evidently do it for cash transactions as well. I would hope for the answer that it goes to the employees, but it does not implicitly say that, and the employee did not say that it did. This location is a bit out of the way from where I live, but I will be back if I am in the area again. read more
