***Disclaimer: Yet another long review from the desk of Jarred F., but I promise you, it will be worth the read*** Tucked away in the heart of Metairie is this cute, upscale cafe that I actually had the pleasure of being able to work at from the time they opened it back in 2010, until 2016. That being said, I am going to keep this review as unbiased as I can, but this is a sweet thing for me to be able to do for them. Caffe! Caffe! is in a little strip mall on North Hullen right by Causeway Boulevard in Metairie. Its tucked away slightly, but all of the local businesses in the area seem to find their way here for lunch and here is why: They are incredible at what they do. The quality of the people they have working here, and the quality of the products that they put out, are bar none-top notch, and its hard to find places that can rival them that are local and not just some chain brunch place. They open in the morning for breakfast and serve a great selection of healthy items all they way to more savory items. They also have an incredible selection of coffee beverages as well. On this particular day, I was off of work and had to take my brother to the hospital for surgery, and it dawned upon me to pay a visit to the cafe that was near and dear to my heart for so many years. I got there around 11:30 and they weren't too busy at first, but I soon saw the lunch rush come in, it got to be more of what I remembered it being like in peak busy times. So I stepped up to the counter to place my order. I love that they have a pastry case displaying their pies and assortment of refrigerated pastries that you can purchase as you wait in line to place your order. Then they line the whole counter up with baked goods, that are all baked in house, for you to do what we called when I worked there, "the walk of shame." Those pastries looked delicious but I refrained myself...today. I ordered for us to go since I was trying to get home with my brother, but I would've loved to have sat in their cute dining area that has bar seating, hightops, and regular seating tables. They also have outdoor patio seating for those interested in that. I ordered a Grilled Chicken Caesar Pita, one of their most popular items, for my brother, and I ordered the classic Chicken Salad served over romaine with poppyseed dressing for myself. The staff was just as friendly and efficient as I remember of the people I used to work with. As it became busier, you saw them kick into high gear mode to accommodate the line going out to the door. Another nice touch was that the owner, Lisa Beck, was behind the counter helping run the operation today, so I really enjoyed getting to see her in her element. They made the order very quickly and I was able to get it in a reasonable time to get out before the heat of the lunch rush set in. The Grilled Caesar Pita looked just as good as I remembered it being, and my brother really seemed to enjoy it. He inhaled the entire thing in a matter of minutes! My Chicken Salad was outstanding. The romaine was so fresh and crisp, and the chicken salad itself was just simply delectable. The homemade poppyseed dressing was delicious. Not too thick and not too sweet, and it didn't make my salad soggy when I tossed it. So in conclusion, Caffe! Caffe! is definitely deserving of a FULL five-star review because of their outstanding standards and dedication to the quality of what they produce, excellence in service, cleanliness, ambiance, and the overall package of the business as a whole. I highly recommend this establishment whole heartedly to anyone. Go for breakfast, go for lunch, go for morning or afternoon coffee! I've been coming here for quite a while. I definitely think it's a solid choice for a meal. The soups especially are delicious, but the sandwiches and breakfast are pretty good as well. The service is friendly. On this particular breakfast visit, my husband got a bagel breakfast sandwich, I got a toast sandwich and we shared grits with bacon and cheese added. Delicious! I stumbled onto Caffé Caffe in between appointments on Veterans and found maybe the best $6 breakfast in the city. It's simple for sure, but there's nothing wrong with that: scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage patty, and grits. The eggs are fluffy and dressed up with some onions and peppers, the sausage has some peppery heat, and the grits are simple but delicious. They have all kinds of coffee drinks, but I just like mine black, and whatever they were brewing tasted fine. I thought the service was great. You order at the counter and they call your number to pick it up; mine took less than five minutes. There's plenty of seating with appropriate distance, the dining room and restrooms are squeaky clean. It's not in my stomping grounds, but I can see this as a good start to a shopping trip at Lakeside mall. read more

I am lucky that I work so close to this establishment! Their food is filling and fresh. If you can make it here by foot I would recommend the walk because parking during the lunch rush can prove to be complicated. While the parking lot might look full during lunchtime, there was plenty of seating inside the caffe. I walked right up to the front to order. There was no line. I ordered the turkey club sandwich. It was carving board turkey. The bread was so fresh. I also tried their chicken gumbo. It was the special soup that day. So delicious! Great soups, sandwiches and salads. The avocado salad is fantastic and the Brazilian Shrimp soup is one of the best soups I have ever had. The soup menu changes daily and there is always a sandwich of the day as well. They make a shrimp remoulade wrap that I rather have on whole grain toast. I came in again today for lunch and was a little turned off by the cashier. My debit card is a bit old so the stripe wasn't working. As she was punching in my number she told me I should "order a new card because it costs businesses more money to punch in the numbers." I was a bit taken back-I'm giving them my money and my business so it came across like me purchasing my meal was costing them money (I come here at least 1-2x a week given I work in the area so it's not like I'm a one time customer). I was also shocked because the employees are usually always so friendly, so I'm not sure why I was spoken to this way today. Also, my family owns a deli, I've worked as a cashier for them before, I've punched in card numbers and it's never costed us more money as a business. Maybe it's different in Louisiana, but not where I'm from. With that said, afterwards I felt extremely uncomfortable, and have decided I'll just stick to their clearview location moving forward since now I just feel awkward. Rude staff. Make faces when you don't tip. Expect a tip before they have even provided any service to you. They made a mistake and put a dessert on my tray and came over to my table before I had a chance to return it and rudely stated in front of other customers that they would not charge me for it. What a bunch of rude women. Make you feel so unwelcome. Don't know how they stay in business. So many other places to eat where the workers actually care about providing courteous, friendly service. My wife loves a particular salad from this place and has been eating there for years. We live on the Northshore so every time we go South that is where she wants to go. Every time we are there the people at the register are so unpleasant and down right rude. I finally decided to say something. We went today and the young guy at the register just looked at us didn't say one word, my wife ordered them he looked at me and I ordered. Never a word not even a smile. Hell if you hate your freaking job that much, QUIT. Once we ordered another lady finished the sell. Any, no emotion no smile and not a word out of her mouth. This was my first experience at this location and let me just say," Like, WOW!" The staff here are amazing! So patient, informative and friendly. I walked in and was totally taken aback by the sheer size and PRISTINE cleanliness of this establishment, eclipsed only by the gregarious staff members! Delicious coffee... Great breakfast menu. I had a great lunch there with my friend Jean. We got to catch up over some amazing food. I had the caffe club (1/2) with some macNcheese..... needed a lil comfort food. Lorilyne and Melissa were awesome. Melissa had her MardiGras eye makeup and nails on point. It was clean and inviting. The only lil irk was the small plastic cup for water. This place really needs to work on their customer service. Most of the people that work there are very nice but there is one lady named Laura Lynn who every time I go in there just isn't friendly. Food is good, but if a place doesn't have good customer service it's hard for me to want to go there and enjoy my time and food. I placed an order to go over the phone with her. I placed the order at 10:50, and she said it would be ready at 11:30. I thought it was odd it would take that long because they are usually a lot quicker but I said ok and hung up. I was in sort of a rush so I decided to get there early just incase the food was ready before 11:30. When I got there around 11:10 to pick up the food Laura Lynn greeted me. I told her my name and she said, "it won't be ready until 11:30." I said, "that's fine, I'll wait. I just got here early incase it would be ready before that." She said "No, we say that time because that's how long it takes them to make it." I said, "ok no problem." At 11:15 a different lady called my name and my food was ready. I was glad my food was ready before Laura Lynn said it would be. And because I am a regular, I knew it would be ready before 11:30. But the way she went about it was just not very nice. read more

I opted for the caffee combination and got a small Cesar salad and half a chicken salad sandwich. My aunt got the combo also with a chicken salad sandwich and Brazilian shrimp soup. The girl taking our order was very helpful and friendly. Although the line was long, she still took the time to answer any and every question. Our cashier checking us out was also very nice. We paid and found a seat. When your order is ready, they'll call out your order number and you go and pick up your food from the counter. The portion was good for lunch as I could tell visually and everything looked SO yummy. The Cesar was just a Cesar salad to me, nothing special. Chicken salad sandwich was a bit too mayonnaise-y for my liking. No outstanding flavor. But let me tell you... that Brazilian shrimp soup is EXCELLENT. It was nice and creamy and had lots of flavor. Shrimp were a good size and they came with little toasted breadsticks that tasted like garlic toast. Omg the soup was SO good! They use a lot of avocado, have iced herbal tea in rotating flavors, have excellent chicken salad. It's a place you can be healthy or decadent, there is no processed food and it's clean and bright. I give this place two stars only because it used to be a decent lunch meetup spot. If I were to give it stars based only on the breakfast we had this day, it would definitely rate only one star. This place has always been a bit on the pricey side. The "hot breakfast" is no different in that respect; the difference is that the breakfast is almost inedible. I got the egg white spinach wrap. It was $5.95 for a tough, thick green wrap with dry spinach wrapped inside. The worst part were the "eggs". According to the cashier, all the eggs are cooked at 6:30 am and warmed as needed for orders. These eggs whites looked as though they were reconstituted white egg powder used on the space station for the astronauts. They were gelatinous, tasteless, and generally yucky. The other gruntled brunchers got grits. One order had cheese and bacon added. Harry didn't like them at all. Susan ordered plain grits and also game them the thumbs down. They also split a blueberry muffin. This probably came from an outside bakery. Despite that, it was greasy and tasteless. Brent got a shrimp salad. It was WAY overpriced at whatever the "market price" was that day for rubbery Chinese shrimp. It was probably priced over $10.95, the next most expensive salad on the menu, for a small plate of lettuce, the shrimp, and dressing. That's it. Even the latte I got was bitter and thin. All in all, it was a major dissatisfier. We are going to have to find some more decent places to try, otherwise all my fellow yelpers are going to think I'm just a sourpuss. An enchanting and spacious breakfast/lunch spot tucked away on North Hullen street and is well worth a look. Many large windows brighten the place up for a crisp and refreshing atmosphere. We had the Cafe Royale and Chai Tea and both exceeded our expectations complete with decorative whip cream. Their teas and coffees come in big black mugs for a homey cafe feel. Very tempting and decorative sweet treats adorn the long brick counter. We were there for breakfast and got bagel and croissant breakfast sandwiches. The food was certainly good and in no way disappointing...but I could think of a few slightly better croissant breakfast sandwiches that I've had elsewhere. However, their lunch looks like where it's at so I am eager to go back and try out that menu. The service was fantastic! Everyone seems so cheery and energetic to be there on such a sleepy Saturday morning. They invited us to come back and informed us that the mornings are best if you want some quiet time with your laptop, and that the lunch rush gets rather busy with all the surrounding businesses in the area. In fact, they must have quite a regular crowd of repeat customers because the nice barista gentleman noticed right away that we were new to this place and that he had not seen us before, which is pretty observant for a busy cafe. This was my first time trying the food here through a company event. My first impression was not that great being that on their menu it says they deliver, but when we called the person on the phone stated that they don't deliver and that is just written on the advertisement. Well that's kind of false advertisement right? So at the last minute we had to send someone to go and pickup our order. I had the caffe turkey club sandwich on a croissant and it was ok in terms of club sandwiches. The dressing was only on half of the sandwich but the turkey tasted good. The bacon was slightly soggy as well. I also had a chocolate chip cookie which was hard but I'm assuming that's how their cookies are supposed to be. Overall just a mediocre experience for me. Perhaps I'll try again eating in and see if I have a better experience. read more
