Two friends and I were flying back home after a visit to Louisiana. We found this Mediterranean Restaurant close to the airport and got takeout. My friends ordered Lasagna, Eggplant, Lamb/beef gyro meat, stuffed grape leaves, Hummus and Pita's, and Baklava. 1 friend took a plane to Idaho. My other friend and I flew to Indiana. We ate our food at the airport in a Military Member Lounge in New Orleans Airport. Everything was the best we ever had or close to it. I wish this restaurant was close to where I live. Service was good. I had the redfish that came with vegetables and baked potato and artichoke soup. The soup was excellent and so were the vegetables, but the potato and fish were overcooked and dry. My brother got a small salad with grilled chicken breast. The breast was way overcooked and tough and dry. Ambiance was nice, though a good bit cramped and noisy. read more

They have the best Moussaka outside of Greece! I think we order it every time. And then always a special as well, last night was the lamb shank. Huge and delicious! I got it as the 4 course special for $25 which is such a steal. Our server was great as well. This place never disappoints. read more

I came here for the prix fixe menu and left having only ordered the soup and salad. I've since returned four times and can't seem to get past the soup and salad, it's that good! I recommend the 4 onion soup which is an interesting lightly creamy onion broth topped with a puff pastry crust. The puff pastry mixes with the broth and makes for a really filling bowl of soup. For the salad, I get the Acropolis salad with grilled shrimp. The salad comes with Romaine lettuce, Roma tomato, blue cheese, fresh cucumber, onion, Kalamata olive, and bacon with a side of balsamic vinaigrette. I've always had great service but this place is packed on Friday and Saturday night so you may have to wait for a table. Acropolis has a real Metairie vibe. I've eaten here at lunch MANY times and had dinner here several times and it has always been very good. They always have at least 2 different fish specials for lunch along with several other very tasty options. You get a very large fish portion compared to almost all the other area restaurants. I especially love when they have Amberjack and Acropolis easily gives you three times as much fish as a comparable special at Drago's. You get a choice of soup or salad along with your lunch special and the soups are usually the way to go (they have this amazing 6 onion soup with a pastry top that you need to sample ASAP). They have chicken, meat, and kabob specials that are also delicious. I've also ordered from the menu and found everything to be very well done. They also have several Italian dishes and they are very tasty and I really like the lasagna. They usually have at least one pasta special during lunch and it is a LARGE portion and usually very good. They also have many excellent Greek versions of dishes you also find in Middle Eastern food such as kabobs, stuffed grape leaves, and hummus showing the wide reach of Greek culture. If you don't arrive before noon (sometimes before 11:30) then there can be a long wait to be seated as this is a very popular place. Parking can fill up rapidly in the front and there is additional parking in the back with a back entrance that is easy to miss if you don't know it is there. This is a long time favorite of my family. And I've taken my Mom here 2x in the last year or so. The dining room is small and they seem to do a brisk takeout business. I love their spinach pie (spanakopita) and whatever is on the special board is always a good choice. They offer 4 courses (soup, salad, entree and dessert) for a price. They also offer just 2 for a different price (soup or salad and entree). I had flounder wrapped in filo with a lemon dill sauce last weekend. STUNNING! And huge! I ate the 2nd half for dinner a night or two later and it was still delicious. Mom got a gyro and was a happy camper and my brother got a grilled mahi and said it was yummy too. We also had the selection of appetizer plate and the spinach pie and the tzatziki were the standouts. They do have a full bar but I've never had a drink here for whatever reason. Delicious food! Got the appetizer sampler, mousaka and baklava and all were amazing! The entree came with a side Caesar salad which was also good. The wait staff were very personable and patient. It's a small little quaint place but offers so much. People with me got a gyro salad, pistachio (prob spelled that wrong but it's the mousaka with noodles) and one got the pork tenderloin wrap. Not crazy about to the wrap but everything was very good. We got the Luku balls and I wasn't crazy about that. Overall it was all great food! We spent $100 on the sampler, three entrees and two desserts. Not bad! read more

This is a quaint nice restaurant. Very unsuspecting from the outside, but as soon as you walk inside, you see, smell and feel the Greek authenticity down to the decor. I was the second person through the door for the dinner hours opening so only two people working the dining area. Both were very pleasant and helpful. I was mad at myself for not looking closely at the daily specials. Ugh...all week in NOLA I was jonesing for red snapper / red fish. I didn't even look at the specials because per the Greek ambiance, I wanted gyro meat...well, as you will see from my fotos, one of their specials the night I dropped in was Greek style pan sautéed red fish. I honestly was not very impressed by Acropolis, unfortunately. Someone close to me constantly raved about this place which prompted me to give it a try. On the bright side, the staff are very friendly and patient! I was waiting on someone to text me their order and it took a while, however the staff did not become annoyed by this. I placed the orders, waited a while and was warmly greeted again and assured that all of my needed contents were in the bag. My disdain comes from the food. I personally had the gyro platter with a side of rice. The meat was salty, yet otherwise flavorless. It was sliced very thinly and was too flaky for my liking. The rice was a bit over-cooked also. Unfortunately, this put a damper on my experience at Acropolis. I do not think I will return here unless someone is treating me lol. I'd recommend Kabob House instead. read more

We had to wait a little while for our table, it's a small place, but worth it. My husband had 6 Onion Soup, Caesar's Salad, and Chicken Parmigiana. I had one of the 4 Course Specials with, Augolemono Soup (chicken and rice with lemon), Greek Salad, Psari Kalymnos (flounder wrapped in phyllo) and for dessert we split a Baklava Sundae. Everything was great. Service was great too. The waitress was very attentive. They have remodeled since our last time being there, and the Greek themed decor is understated and comfortable. We came here for the first time a few weeks ago and we're already back! All the food we had was delicious and fresh. I got the greek salad with chicken and the 6 onion soup. My husband got the chicken shawarma and the falafel app and he loved both. Restaurant is small but the decor makes it feel larger. Service was good as well. 10/10! read more

Absolutely amazing little restaurant that serves not only the Mediterranean usuals but a lot of Greek specialties that can't be found @ any other restaurant in the area. In addition to the usual menu, there are also dishes that are written on the wall inside. Idk if this rotates on a daily basis but I know some were erased as we ate during the extremely busy lunch hour. Service was a little slow & the dining area was a little noisy but this was due to the number of patrons (many of who seem to be regulars) & the portion size & quality made the wait well worth it. We really loved this place. Someone gave us a gift card, so we ordered a lot of food to sample. Everything was delicious. I'm a gyro fan and I love a good Baba Ghanoush; I wasn't disappointed! My work crew and I headed there around lunch time about 12:30. The parking lot is small, but we had no trouble parking. Great ambiance and fantastic service! We did not wait long for our food. It came out pretty quickly. The food was fresh and hot. My Greek salad with chicken was so yummy. It had lots of balsamic dressing. I've been to Greece and love Greek food, and Acropolis is every bit as good as what I've had in Greece. The moussaka is delicious. The seasoning is perfect and the portion size is large. The potatoes and eggplant are tender and the sauce baked on top is rich. My husband usually orders the gyro salad and it's out of this world good. The meat is tender and juicy, and the veggies in the salad are super fresh. I am always blown away by the tzatziki sauce. They make an onion soup that is beyond good. The service here is above average and I always feel like I'm dining at the home of a friend when I'm here. read more

I really have to struggle to even give Acropolis 2 stars. It's hard to run a small business these days, so I never want to say something unkind. But Acropolis was just lacking across the board. The meal my daughter ordered was inedible, so she just sat there and didn't eat while I ate my lunch. My salad with chicken was the most sad and bland thing I've had in a long while. The waitress never came to check on us after she dropped off the food. I don't think she cared whether we liked it or not. My first and probably last time getting food from here had some good and disappointing qualities. I want to highlight that the grape leaves and tzatziki sauce were really great, and I would order again. The downside of my experience was the gyro wrap and the hummus appetizer. I found the gyro wrap lacking in flavor and bland. The hummus appetizer, not the a la carte option, was 4oz and I was very disappointed with the size for the price and when I talked with management, they said that it "is what it is". It seems wrong to charge $9 for that amount, and I was expecting more for the price. Delicious lunch spot! The food is super fresh and delicious. Something to please everyone from red meat to fish to vegetarian. Stopped in for an unplanned lunch, and this place was busy, so I knew it would be good. There's easy parking and it's in a great location on Veterans. Service was very friendly! From offering menu suggestions to boxing up our food, they were great. The inside is also very clean, and has these gorgeous art pieces on the walls. They also have what looked to be a full bar. I ordered the veggie wrap with side of fries, and for $10 I was STUFFED - even took some home. The grilled veggies were cooked perfectly, and the fries were well seasoned. I was seated by the kitchen and saw a lot of stuff coming out that looked great from different soups and salads to grilled salmon. Next time I'm going to try the lunch special - for $15 you get either soup or salad with a full entrée. Can't wait! read more
