I didn't have time to make it to the original location but found out there was a location closer to me and I was craving some beignets! They served them 3 to an order and they were hot and fresh just the way I like them. I also had an Iced Mocha and it wasn't bad but definitely needed more coffee in it. Overall, a decent option to satisfy my craving at the time. read more

I would love to give this ionically known place five stars just because they've been hanging for so many years and I do love beignets however, this location inside of the mall did not live up to my expectations I have visited the French Quarter location and got exceptionally delicious beignets even at the location in the New Orleans airport- catch them in the morning with them fresh hot beignets-YUM- but this location gets three mainly because the beignets were not fresh and the customer service was a little questionable ....so next time when I get back to New Orleans I will definitely get to the French quarters and I'm sure the review will be a five stars. read more

This is a tourist trap. Unless you are already in the mall or in planning to do the riverwalk anyways - don't go out if you way for this location. It's inside the mall, there is no street parking, and the garage nearby charges $12 min to park. The line moved pretty fast but the staff were not friendly and barely made eye contact. Where is that southern charm? The place was quite dirty. The beignets were more dense and doughy than I remembered from the OG location. Coffee is fine but it's served with those cheap plastic lids that don't form a proper seal and drips when you try to drink from it. read more

You can not visit the New Orleans area without stopping by Café Du Monde for an order of delicious beignets. This restaurant embodies the spirit of New Orleans with the cafe style setting. We came to the Metairie location. Staff was super nice! There was no line & beignets were great! We ordered two rounds of beignets first round was great, but the 2nd round came out hot & fresh out of the fryer! Those were epic! There's nothing better than a warm doughy pillow of powdered sugar! Coming to this location was an excellent top by a local to avoid the French quarter crowds. read more

YUCK!!! I have to say these things were disgusting. The service was yuck also. They don't accept Apple Pay contrary to what Yelp says. I was looked upon like I was stupid for even asking if they did accept Apple Pay. The beignets were cold and kinda hard. They weren't frying new ones but pulling them out of a huge pan they had on the side. The mall still had 30 minutes or more to be open and they were cleaning and getting ready to go. We live close to this Cafe Du Monde, and we get the beignets about every week or two. When they do them right, they are very good. However, I would NEVER tell an out of towner to go to this location. They are VERY INCONSISTENT. When they do them as they should be, they are very good. Much too often, though, they are very dense, and you can only eat about one. A beignet should be airy in the middle, not thick. Also, sometimes there are crispy spots on the outside. I hate the thought that out of towners might go there and think this is what a beignet is really like. read more

Hi. While waiting for the rest of our crew to arrive to start the extended weekend of our girls trip, I saw Cafe Du Monde at the airport. I was so excited as they are so well known and coming to NOLa it's a must. The cashier was super nice and three beignets were 2.94 plus tax but I was so unimpressed! I ate them out of hunger but it gave fried biscuits covered in powdered sugar, nothing over the top. Uggh. Yeah I don't have to have them again. Maybe try another location perhaps? We picked up beignets from here which was definitely the way to go because the line to sit at the restaurant was miles long and apparently the coffee is terrible so we didn't think it was worth it. The beignets come in orders of 3 so you can share. I had never had a beignet before but it was really tasty--fried dough drowned in powdered sugar--very messy and not so unique if you have ever had a doughnut. Its always a gluttonous pleasure to indulge in one of New Orlean's oldest treats- the franchise of Cafe Du Monde. Fantastic & professional customer service, clean environment, this location is positioned within the mall in Metairie and a couple of miles from the stand alone location on Veterans Blvd. Of course, this isn't the famous one located within the French Quarter. Beignets, coffee, bottled water, and orange juice. That's about it, folks. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated. While there is a good amount of seating inside, there is also additional seating (more than likely a part of the mall) outside of the venue. And the beignet quality? Outstanding as always. read more

I ordered beignets and hot chocolate and the beignets were old and dry!? Not only that the powder was big chucks of powder that wouldn't even break down to dip your beignets. Smh . The place was so unsanitary. And then I think they charge me for two orders while I told them I wanted one order. I had one bite of it and couldn't eat it so I threw it away! Awful experience. Will never go there again read more

Went to the Cafe DuMonde on Veterans and only had my phone, I had intention on tapping for payment with apple pay, but to my surprise there was no tap machine. Luckily there was a kind little boy that took it upon himself to buy me and order of beignets, then in similar fashion the worker who originally took my order, bought me a coffee, and that was the sweetest gesture that I have had happen in a while... and for that I would like to thank these kind people, but also plead with management to allow tap for payment. Because it was slightly embarrassing to not be able to pay for my items after ordering, this location Is near a lot of businesses and will lose business by eliminating that payment option! These people changed my original experience and again I say Thank you! read more

I mean, come on. You have to have a plate of beignets when you come to New Orleans. And what better place than one of the oldest makers of beignets in New Orleans. Pro tip...go to this Cafe Du Monde instead of the one in the heart of downtown. It's not as busy AND you can sit or wander the beautiful city park with breathtaking views of old majestic oak trees, picturesque bridges, and humid, humid air . No but really, wether you choose to sit inside at one of the dozens of tables Cafe Du Monde has, or outside, you won't be sorry. The staff were all so wonderful, a norm we saw in New Orleans, and of course the beignets were little fried doughs from heaven. Now if you don't like an epic mountain of powdered sugar, ask for a light hand on because you will indeed get a steeping mountain of sugar on top of every beignets. Of course my husband and two boys devoured the sugar, but I definitely dumped a bunch on my plate. Make sure to include this in your travel plans, you won't be sorry! read more

so glad this location is open! since i'm from the sf bay area, i begged my boyfriend who lives in new orleans to bring me here to try my first beignet and their frozen cafe au lait lol. i have a huge sweet tooth and love coffee so it was the perfect pairing. this time my friend came to new orleans with me so i told her i'd bring her. we ordered two orders of beignets, one frozen cafe au lait and one frozen mocha au lait. as always, the beignets were perfect. i think i'm going to get one from here every time i come visit until i move here lol. the cafe au lait is probably one of my favorite things because it's so humid here. 100 times better than a sbux frapp. definitely recommend coming here. plus the staff is always nice and friendly and makes small conversation! read more

Heard so many raving reviews about the beignets here, so while I was visiting a friend from New Orleans, we decided to stop by so I could try some. The dough inside (to me) was undercooked and the beignets were covered in way TOO much powdered sugar. Not sure if location makes a difference but this was the cafe du mont on veteran instead of the famous French Market location. Slightly disappointed. read more

I actually like this location a lot. It's located in a mall so there's lots of parking and restrooms. Since it's indoors there's AC and it's a lot less chaotic. The dining area is always clean and the beignets come out a lot fresher! It may be worth checking out the French Quarter location for a true New Orleans experience with live music but if you're just looking for coffee and/or beignets, this location is perfect. read more

The service at Lakeside Mall couldn't be worse, the manager and the employees were very rude, the beignets were very dark and I asked them to serve me some less burnt ones and they started a drama to not want to change them and the manager was the worst and offered to return the money and I asked for a quality product, they argued for about 5 minutes claiming that they were all the same. No trip to New Orleans is complete without a stop at Cafe du Monde. Unfortunately, our many attempts to go to the Decatur location left us empty handed as no one from our group felt loek waiting in that LONG line. We were staying in Meterie and decided we would just run in and grab them from here. Much shorter line and closer parking! While there was a line, it didn't take too long to shuffle us through. I was super excited to try their iconic beignets and cafe au lait. While they were pretty delicious, they seemed a bit too dense and didn't have as much powdered sugar as others I had ordered the previous day from a different beignet shop. I think it's a must do if you're in NOLA. A beignet and chicory cafe du Lait. Although my recommendation is to get it to go. The line is just as long but moves faster and you can carry it to the Latrobe Park and enjoy an afternoon tea while you people watch. A favorite vacation activity for me. read more

Stopped here on a whim with family and mostly enjoyed our visit. Beignets were pretty good, but the hot chocolate was terrible. We saw them pour a gallon of chocolate milk into the hot chocolate machine, and that was the end of it. It left a lot to be desired and was so scalding hot that it blistered my son's tongue. I also wish they offered at least one dairy alternative for coffee. Overall, pretty under impressed. read more

I haven't had beignets in a while because I haven't been to NOLA in years, and Cafe Du Monde is the place to get them. Now, this franchise is not the original, but they still get the job done. Three beignets and a cup of coffee and you are ready to go. If you can't get to the French Quarter, don't pass up your chance to have this decadent treat. read more

I was charged $15 on the receipt. When I brought this discrepancy to the associates, they explained that the price had been recently changed and the manager was "not good with technology," making them unable to correct the digital board. I explained that having a misleading price displayed at the point of sale is false advertisement and requested a simple $2 refund for the difference. The associates stated there was "nothing they could do" and suggested I speak to the owner. The owner came forward disgruntled. When I explained the situation, he did not apologize or attempt to de-escalate. Instead, he flatly stated there are no refunds, told me the price was $15, and tried to reprimand me for not accepting his verbal price correction after I had already been charged. He said it's not a big deal, prices change all the time, all this over two dollars, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. The sheer lack of professionalism, transparency, and simple customer courtesy was staggering. The owner's refusal to honor the price they were actively advertising left a sour taste that no dessert could fix. To add insult to injury, the Shokupan itself was underwhelming and in my opinion, not worth the $15 I paid: just a big chunk of dry bread topped with a scoop of ice cream. While the croffle was a treat, I cannot in good conscience recommend giving business to an establishment whose owner is willing to cause a scene over a $2 error of his own making (although he eventually gave me the $2 refund) demonstrating a clear disregard for community and honest business practices.

I felt valued, and not like I was bothering them for patronizing their business. The donuts were still warm when I got home. The family quickly devoured them. And the icing on the cake? Two dozen mixed donuts were only $22 including tax. Other donut shops and bakeries could take a lesson in customer service from this place. It's simple--either train your staff to interact respectfully and professionally with customers, or if they lack the people skills, consider placing them in roles behind the scenes where they can still contribute without impacting the customer experience. I'm talking to you Buttermilk Drop and Adrian's Bakery. Regarding ambience, it's seen better days, and it's in a sketchy part of town.
