Outside of Mochinut in Harvey, LA

Today was my first time trying the viral Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cups. After trying it today, I can definitely see the hype in it! From the pistachio/chocolate flavoring to the crunchy texture, it was worth a try. The price is normally $12 per cup, but I was thankfully able to try it out for free via a Yelp event. Service was nice and quick and the inside was really clean and neat. Overall, a good first experience here at Mochinut in Harvey.

3 mochinut for $10. Flavors change every week!

Another new Mochinut location! This one is on Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey, the convenient strip where all of the stores you need to visit are found. A perfect dessert spot to swing by after you're done shopping! The shop itself is really spacious. I'm hoping they fill it with more stuff (have to cut them some slack though, they're still getting their bearings together!) So far, they have some games available to play, an old-school arcade game, an air hockey table, and some books for entertainment. Mochinuts are donuts with a chewier texture (mochi) than what you might be used to eating. They're really yummy, and they swap out the flavors each week (plus, each location offers different flavors). The mochinuts are reasonably priced at 3 for $10 or 6 for $18. Because mochinuts are made partially with rice flour, they're lower in gluten than traditional donuts. Maybe a good option to try if you're a sensitive to gluten! They also offer soft-serve ice cream, mochiballs (basically mochinuts with filling inside), rice dogs (similar to corn dogs, but with the outside breading being made with rice flour), and various drinks. I got to try 3 mochinuts complimentary with the Yelp Elite Event perk, but I also purchased an original rice dog (they come with various toppings) and a Biscoff mochiball. This would also be a great place to pick up desserts for an event or as a gift because the packaging is SO DARN CUTE!!

We visited the second location of Mochinut in Harvey and it is just as equally cute and consistent as the one in Metairie! As always, service was quick, donuts were great and the atmosphere was welcoming. There was a few games our babies played with like the Pac-Man machine and foosball table as we hung around.

    Coffee, ube, "Thai tea"

Donuts are pretty good. Tried the original and Samoa. Light, airy, lightly chewy as expected of mochi donuts. Drinks I have tried at the location include the coffee, Thai tea, ube and milk tea. - Thai tea - I was not a fan of this drink. I personally love Thai tea, and this, was not it. It looks like Thai tea, but tastes nothing like it. Sweet, thick and tastes almost like the instant packs of Thai tea sold at the Asian markets. - Ube - spot on, perfect, would not change a thing. - Milk tea - standard, spot on milk tea flavor. Slightly sweet, but tasted fine once the ice diluted it some. - Coffee - by far, hands down the mvp. Strong, sweet with a bite. Highly recommend the coffee to anyone and everyone. I have not had a chance to try the Korean corn dogs yet, but am looking forward to it. The girls working the front counter were very friendly and polite. They took care of me promptly and when they didn't know an answer to a question or how to process a transaction, they immediately asked for assistance. There was a hiccup with my first visit to this location, but management reached out immediately and corrected the situation. This type of customer service is very appreciated. Overall ambiance to the store is nice, bright and clean. There's ample seating, a nicely decorated wall to take photos, manga in the back, an air hockey table and a pac man machine. It's a fun and welcoming atmosphere, but do keep in mind, this place can get very loud very quick.

    Hotdogs on the stick!

Omg I wish they had one uptown in the city they're so needed in my community the kids will drive their parents crazy to get to this place. The donuts are awesome, the only thing is it's not a regular donut it's and donut not with an amazing twist with different toppings and the hot dogs on the stick is mind blowing Heck I was excited when I was introduced to this location. The service is exceptional and the ambiance is nice please get more games! This place is amazing!!

This event went great. We tried one of each donut and thought the flavors and textures were perfect. This was my first time trying Mochi donuts and can tell the slight difference in texture. I actually love the density of the dough and thought it paired well with the toppings. Not to sweet at all. My favorite was probably the M&M one, though you can't go wrong with any of them. Will return as it would make a great gift for an office or birthday!

Dough Nguyener's Bakery -- 4…read more Dough Nguyener's really introduced me and my son to the flavors of ube and pandan... and I still can't believe I went my whole life without them. Like where have I been?! We are forever grateful for that alone. As someone who already loves Vietnamese culture through food here in New Orleans, this place just hits. Vietnamese coffee is a staple for me--not even for energy, but for the flavor. If you know, you know... that bold, strong, chicory-meets-condensed-milk moment. It's rich, it's cultural, it's intentional. And when you start adding things like pandan cold foam? Simple, but it speaks volumes about the influence and beauty of the Vietnamese community here. I respect it, deeply. Now let's talk about that Croffle... a croissant-waffle situation. I went with the Chantilly and berries because... you already know, I'm gonna choose what feels like home every time. The cream was smooth, the fruit was fresh, everything worked. My only thing--personally--it was a little heavy on the almonds for me. Still good, just my preference. We also had The American--eggs, bacon, French ham, hand-cut fries, garlic aioli, and a baguette. I shared it with my son and made my own little sandwich moment with it. Used the aioli as a base, layered the eggs, bacon, and ham... and I feel like that's exactly what it was meant for. Solid, simple, and filling. I've tried a few other things too like the bánh mì and donuts. The bánh mì was good, donuts were okay... not my go-to for that. But that frozen cocktail? Listen... it was TOO good. Took it to a festival with me and between that drink and that sun, I slept the whole festival away lol. Overall, I'll definitely be back. I still want to try more from the kitchen--especially that chicken everybody keeps talking about. This is a great spot for early weekend brunch, late evening studying, or weekday coffee runs. Not too small, not too big. Beautiful lighting. A really good addition to Gretna.

But here they really gave the marshmallow chocolate cinnamon. Then I fell in love with how light and bright it was so I sat down to see what other trouble I could get into. Loved the bao bun. Good sweet and savory. After leaving I tried the cookies (oatmeal raisan and ube) and they were my favorite type of cookie. Like some how chewy but with a good bite from the outside. Not super sweet and allowing the flavor to shine. I do understand the folks who have 3 stars. They missed me with the chia pudding parfait. Every component was middle of the road. My surprise guest said the the crossaint sandwich was decent but bigger than anyone should want. They stopped eating the crossaint part on the second half. I will definitely be back. Unfortunately and fortunately I sat right where they were bringing out all the dine in orders and sooooo many things looked delicious. Wings and French toast especially.

The King Cake was fresh, soft, and perfectly balanced -- not overly sweet, with just the right amount of icing and traditional Mardi Gras flair. Not wanting to leave empty-handed...I grabbed a slice of cake and some sweet potato pie...and let me tell you...both were absolutely excellent...rich, flavorful, and worth every bite...that alone convinced me it would be worth making a return trip...so much so...I actually changed my travel plans from 4am to 6am just to try those beignets. The next morning...I arrived right at 6am...along with about five other customers already waiting outside...we stood there expecting the doors to open...but after a while...one customer called inside and was told they couldn't open because they didn't have a cashier yet...one by one...everyone left. I stayed until about 6:15am...hoping things would turn around...but eventually had to leave as well. That was definitely disappointing...especially knowing they lost at least five or more customers that morning. I'm really hoping this was just a one-time situation...because based on the cake and pie alone...this place has something special...I'll definitely give them another shot on my next visit... but hopefully next time...the service matches the quality of the desserts.
