District meets the suburbs I've been to the locations on Magazine and Harrison several times but 1st time I have been to this one. This one feels like a chain restaurant (which it now is) and has no real personality being pinned in between a bike shop and a Jersey Mike's inside of strip mall. The kolaches at District are really good. They have a variety of flavors, I usually get a smoked sausage, cheese and jalapeno which is tasty but this time I got a brisket boudin and cream cheese kolache in a collaboration with Gonzo's. This was phenomenal. I also got a regular glazed donut. This was not that good. It's too dense and too thick. I like my glazed donuts to be light and airy; I want it to almost melt in my mouth. All of District's donuts are thick. Most of them are good especially the banana pudding donut. The issue is these aren't really donuts more like cakes or just a dessert. If you are coming to get your order to go this place is fine but if you want to hang out, I prefer the other locations. read more

I have to say District has stepped up its food and coffee game a lot. I have been frequenting their locations more and more, especially the Elmwood one. I recently discovered their boozy coffees and that they sell Vietnamese coffee - eff the world condensed milk glory! So, freaking good. During the holidays, they sell egg nog lattes which are creamy and so delicious. But if you want the boozy one, go with the District Lebowski. Jaw drop, so good! I still think the donuts themselves need more work - I wish they would taste sugary like the ones in Lafayette called Meches. The toppings are exquisite and those hot honey fried chicken sliders are the best! The staff are very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. While the toppings are fancy, youlll throw the other part of the donut away. The service was quick and our stuff came out fast. It does seem like the young man walking around didn't want to be there, but he didn't bother us. Lol. I didn't like having to select a table, then having to wipe it down. I went here for the first time last Saturday. There is onsite parking. The staff person who took my order was very kind and helpful. She helped me choose which donut I'd try. I ended up getting the strawberry drop and it was just as she described. It was very tasty. I also ordered a cappuccino . I didn't care for that. The area where we sat wasn't as clean as I would've liked but it was quite busy inside and I did see staff come around to clean twice while I was there. So it is likely that I sat down right after other customers left and before the cleaning round started. It definitely seemed liked they did try to stay on top of cleaning the spaces. I dined-in a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday around 5pm. There were around 3 employees, one person waiting for a to-go order and just one table of customers when I came in. The ambiance is casual. The staff was attentive to every customer and the wait wasn't too long for the food. I ordered the "ranch bird" and waffle fries and I enjoyed it. The house-made garlic ranch was tasty and elevates the sandwich. I loved the brioche bun (it's not too heavy of a bread), but it does get a little messy holding together all the sandwich components--so, napkins are a must. So this little restaurant is one of a kind. The environment: the restaurant is tucked away in a little shopping center by a few other new and trendy restaurants. Price: high-ish, but it's craft and the customer service is excellent. The service: Everyone was friendly. They greeted us literally as soon as we walked in the door, was patient when I need a ton of changes to my meal due to food allergies, ANDDDDD they didn't tell me what I couldn't have. Whenever I've reviewed District before it's always been glowing. But Monday evening I went there at 8:30pm. I ordered 4 sliders (2 a treat for my doggies) and a double cheeseburger for me. Just left District to try the king cake donut. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer. The District representative filled a portion of the cup with lemonade and then handed my cup to a customer on the other side of the counter (an acquaintance) to fill the cup the rest of the way with tea. I found this to be disrespectful and unhygienic, and I'm just pissed! Other than the taste of almond, neither the cashier nor the other team member could tell me the difference between the king cake donut and the full size king cake. Great ambiance and adorable concept. It's a great place for quick breakfast date with your toddler or significant other! Chocolate donut with sprinkles for the 4 year old and chocolate milk was a hit! I like their iced coffee and their ice is wonderful! All about the ice! I'm obsessed with District Donuts. I work in the film industry and have had the luxury of having movies provide sliders to me a few times now. Recently, I went on my own and had the chicken thigh sliders which are always delicious and several of the weekly donuts which did not disappoint. I think the wedding cake one is my favorite. The following day I went back for brunch with my boyfriend and got the hot chicken and honey on French toast, while he had the other chicken slider. The hot chicken was a little too hot for me, but he loved his. I went back later that day for another chicken thigh slider pack (I told y'all I was obsessed) and more donuts. A few days later, I wanted to bring something nice to work so I brought a dozen sliders and a dozen assorted donuts. Everyone loved everything! The hamburger sliders are good as well but the chicken thigh is still my favorite slider. They're so crispy and perfectly salted, and there seems to be some secret ingredient. I used to come here once a month for years, but I'm going to bring my business elsewhere. Over the last year, the quality of food and service went down. The donut aren't flavorful or pillowy soft anymore. It's hard and tasteless. Also, I don't advise coming here after 4pm. The donuts aren't fresh anymore and have been sitting out uncovered. The workers don't put on gloves when grabbing your food. The guy who rang me up didn't even cover his mouth when he cough. I saw him cough straight into the donuts area after he placed my order into a box. Then, he wanted to catch an attitude when I didn't want to tip him. I'm sorry District Donut. So I've been eyeing this place for months. I don't even live in this state. So imagine my surprise when I got off the plane and came straight here on a Friday night to start my trip right - and found out - No more Monte Cristos or Croque Madams! - Jigga wut? Disappointment aside, we tried the hot chicken honey biscuit and the cheeseburger. The cheeseburger comes with an impressive cheese crisp and homemade sweet pickles. The biscuit is also a delicious duo of sweet and savory flavors and the single tiny chicken thigh packs a mean cayenne punch. The latter is also hella fried, and both are small, rich, and dense. I guess that's the French side of this Cajun novelty of a shop. For the main foods alone given their small portions at $9 and $7, respectively, I'd still award 3.5 stars. Now the donuts - I wish I could quote Ben Wa Blanc and say, The donut hole... had another donut within the hole which had another hole within... but this was straight up just wholly disappointing. I bought 3 donuts totaling $9 after-tax. That alone is insanity, but I'm willing to pay the price so long as they're good. Per recommendation, I got the carrot cake donut ($3.50) the cinnamon roll ($2.50) and the brown butter buttermilk ($1.50). All were beautiful and tasted mega-fail. I'm usually not so harsh in my reviews but I would not eat any of these again even if they were in front of me for free. Granted I bought them around dinner time, if their quality were to be so much worse in the evening, they shouldn't sell them then. In summary, I'd go back for the biscuit sandwich if it were convenient and I wasn't particularly hungry. Not for the donuts tho. read more

Really enjoyed district donuts. I frequent this spot a lot! The sliders are pretty good and the donuts are a bonus treat. I've tried the beef as well as the chicken sliders and they were both tasty. Everything was cooked to order so even the waffle fries were hot and crunchy! Soda options are a miss, but are healthier alternatives to standard industry drinks. Super happy we found this place! The food was very good We arrived just as they were finishing up breakfast and starting lunch so it was perfect timing. We started off with the Rooster fried chicken sandwich on a biscuit. It was pretty good. The chicken was cooked perfectly, but the biscuit left a little to be desired. For lunch we tried the slider combo. The best part of the combo was the waffle fries! Best waffle fries I've had in a long, long time. Both sliders were good as well. We tried two different coffee's and both were ok. I had the nitro cold brew, but it was pretty bitter even with cream. My wife tried a iced Vietnamese coffee and it wasn't anything special. Call me a purist, but I struggle seeing District, like many of my other local favorites, expand to the suburbs and beyond. That and the fact that I rarely venture to these chain-store centric neighborhoods, explains why it took me so long to try this "new" DDSB Elmwood strip mall location. Assuming our only option to be one of the many area chains, or a 15-20 minute wait until we were back in civilization, I was thrilled to see the familiar District Donuts Sliders & Brew sign hanging in an otherwise deserted strip mall. We walked in to find two friendly staff members, but no customers. The neighborhood and ample parking felt foreign, but the menu, donuts and drinks all looked familiar. Suburban bonus... cold beer! They offered to make my favorite hot honey chicken biscuit, at this mid-afternoon hour, which I'm accustomed to getting at the original location. We enjoyed that, a yummy double burger, waffle fries and a delicious Vietnamese iced coffee. The vibe was nice. Possibly a bit short staffed, which may explain the fact that the floors, windows and restroom weren't as clean as I'd expect, for this time of day, but not bad enough to detract from the great food and service. Yes, it felt a little odd enjoying my favorite lunch items in an unfamiliar setting, but I was relieved to have the opportunity. I hope the suburbanites appreciate having this gem so close to them. Staff was very welcoming which they weren't too busy when we came. Decided to try the cinnamon donut, the mango tajin donut, and the Hot Chicken & Honey Butter French Toast Biscuit. The donuts were fairly soft, but mildly firm. I didn't care too much for the mango tajin donut. Just didn't work with my taste palate. However, the hot chicken biscuit was fresh and made to order which was nice. Kind of like their twist on the Mcgriddle. Overall, the chicken biscuit was good. Also ordered the vietnamese ice coffee which could probably use more condensed milk for sweetness, but not bad. The overall atmosphere was nice which plentiful tables and chairs.
